first question for you is:
Do you care bout your personal story and bout voiceacting? as mentioned above it makes a big difference.
It could be that those things doesn’t make a difference for you.
The second question is if your playing male or female. Both on cultural armor and on looks this mkaes a huge difference. I dislike male norns with heavy armor, but I love the females.
Best advise if your considerations are bout armor is to make both, play through tutorial, go to the heart of the mists, and look into the locker to preview different armor sets.

first of all to those blaming anet for being greedy. Yes they are making money on a game thats free to play (buy it one time)with so far plenty of free updates (and a promise of much more), where any other mmo of this caliber and far less is either pay to win, pay to play or in some cases buy to play and pay to play (e.g. woW).
Anet however is no charity and they are here to make a profit. Yes it has nothing to do with performance and it is PR that is saying that, but so what??
Secondly, free server transfer was never planned. It was planned to be a free guesting service with paid world transfer. The reason it wasn’t implemented at the start where technical difficulties, so the initial free server transfer period (that was done for people to find eachother at the start) had to be extended much more then was planned.
Last of all I must say I have missed the guesting service a lot and I’m very very happy it is finally here.
As for the cross continent playing, I have to agree that it would be ideal to get guesting working for eu-players on na servers and vice versa.
With the risk of going technical I would suggest using a system simular to the roaming feature for mobile telephoning. Your personal data is stored on a home register and when playing on your home world/region the data is pulled and added directly to this register. If going to the other region your record is copied to a visitor register at the other datacenter, the record on the home register is getting locked then and the one on the visitor’s register is being edited. As soon as your guesting service is over, and you try to connect regurly to your home register, this register will see that your back and ask the visitors register to give the current file back and delete any trace afterwards.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
just a quick warning that the next monday server transfer will be a payed service. so you might want to try it before the 26th. The time is however the best. This week cause of the announcement that server transfers wont be free anymore it is frenzy. So even if you try it daily at that time it might just be impossible. Howeverif you fail you will then have the oppurtunity to guest.
see this post for more info: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guesting-is-coming/
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
hmmmm.
First of all I asume you mean the coolest video??
The question is hard to answer. The main reason is that it depends imo a bit on the amount of effort it takes to get there (it feels much more rewarding when it was hard to reach).
Having said that if you want epic I would go for the one at anchorage waypoint in cursed shores.
To get there is relativly easy (well from ground level, not speaking from the start of the game) and it views the promenade of the gods and the gates to the city of Arah
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
ye, the question isnt on character selection. but during the lost sister storyline http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Fall_of_Falcon_Company. Here lt. Thackeray asks you:
’
Logan Thackeray: Falcon Company’s records were largely destroyed by centaur raids. I’m trying to get a complete roster. Your sister was of Krytan descent?
Yes. We’re both Krytan.
No, my sister and I trace our lineage to Elona.
Actually, we’re of Canthan descent.
Ascalonian, sir, and proud of it.
’
the other storylines dont’t give you the option (but if you like roleplaying or having a story behind your character feel free to fill it in for yourself).
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I had some trouble getting up there but this is my tactics.
At the bottom of the stairs, go killing a few risen. soon enough on peak hours you’ll see some others go up. follow them and your done.
Best is to not fight, but run and dodge out of traps. most important is that you reach the waypoint.
if it fails I’m on Gandara and might be able to find a group of people to help you out, just sent me a pm in game.

Hiya all,
Srry if this has been dicussed in the past, but I thought it would be nice to compare our thoughts and info bout the bloodstones in gw2.
To start with the only ‘official’ piece of information I could find is here: http://www.guildmag.com/gmblitz-lore-interview-with-jeff-grubb
’GuildMag: In the original Guild Wars we’ve already seen three of the five bloodstones, will we be able to find the other two and could you tell us some more about them?
Jeff Grubb: We are not revealing what has become of the Bloodstones yet, but they may have an influence in future expansions.’
I’m going to make two assumptions here
a: the stones still exist in gw2-tyria
b: they haven’t changed location.
From the five peices we know the location then of three. Two of them are currently out of reach (one on the fireislands and one in what now is the maguuma wastes).
The third however is accesible for everyone and comparing maps I would say the entrance to the caves once was in either top right corner of straights of devastation or bottom right corner of sparkfly fen. So I went to look for clues. There was a structure in bramble pass that I couldn’t find my way into before, but now I could and all the way in the back I found the attached screenshot.
The structure looks like of asuran origin (wich makes sense, cause in gw2 it was found by an asuran in the first place). And some elements remind me of a rudimentary asura gate. But what if it is actually a lock??
So far what I’ve found in my investigations. If you have different things or want to comment on (how wrong) my investigations are, pls lemme know.
I do hope we are going to see more of the bloodstones in the future.

The Wizard’s Tower is one of those things I’m kind of expecting to be the focus on an event update one day down the line. I hope that they let us in there one day, but who knows?
hmmmm, who knows. somehow the whole tower feels so much out of content. It was there from the early days of gw1 (the villany of galrath has quest id 1, meaning it was the first quest ever created, wich was later confirmed by the devs).
I kinda like the enigma around the tower and personally I’m hoping they keep it an enigma. But off course a full scale event (like lost shores) concerning the tower would be awesome.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
A Dev confirmed it was 3 mins.
hmm, i have witnessed different, maybe in regular situations. But i have seen that with de’s where you have to kill several waves, you can wait till the last wave before collecting and not loosing a thing. So maybe there the three minutes starts as soon as the event is over. In instances body’s stay till looted or that you leave the instance.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
first off all your not telling your regular ram. secondly your windows version has influence as well.
But given the specs your are stating it should run fine, maybe some minor performance issues in big zergs like wvw or dragonfights but i dont think so. Even if this is the case, it is a few clicks to go to minimum settings for a few minutes
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
First off all, many acronym’s are translated in context.
so exp can mean experience (as in points needed to level up) or it can mean exploration.
I might start compiling such a list, but not promising a thing. Its a lot of work (most keeps in wvw have acronyms, as well as dungeons, maps, dynamic events and game terms.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
almost all sigil’s only work when actually using the weapon it is one. except the thief, wich I explain later, it means that for mainhand weapon it only works when using skill 1,2 or 3 and for offhand it only works when using 4 and 5.
Thief skill number 3 can be a skill that uses both weapons. but it counts/hit. So e.g. skill 3 hits 3 times, main/off/main, so the two hits with the mainhand weapon will use the sigil on the mainhand and the one hit of the offhand will use the offhand sigil.
If you think about it actually makes sense, you only get the sigil effect when you use the weapon it is on.

lots of reasons. Fractals is one of them. The other is pure lazyness. overflow la has the same services to offer as regular la. The main reasons for me being in la are:
- fractals, lfg works better in overflow
- using mf, bank, ah, craftingstations, etc, so im not interacting with others, and going to my server’s lion’s arch means a loading screen so i normally just click leave queu.
- Im wating for a friend. if I leave overflow my friend will go there and i have to join in with my friend to get together. by leaving queu I can avoid two loading screens (maybe one if the friend goes into a different overflow, but that is not very often)

a: Orr is really dead. The reason is that for many the effort/reward ratio is out of balance. So people go to other things like dungeons. farming in frostgorge sound, WvW, etc.
b: soon we have guesting enabled serverwide. this means that also for Orr you can make groups with people from other servers (very good for bugged events too btw). I hope that http://www.gw2lfg.com will support lfg’s outside dungeons when guesting is enabled. Hopefullky that will solve your problem (and mine, I still need to do a lot of exploration in Orr).
c: Don’t be scared bout a single dc when guesting. make sure you always make a note of the group leader and when your back in the game with no way of returning to the dungeon instance you always let the party know what happened and appoligise. Most will understand and move on (or even restart with you if they where not far in). If your already out of the group sent a pm to the party leader to let him know what happened and to say sorry.

Hi
What’s the differences between Vibrant, Leather and Metallic Dyes, beside the price?
Thank you
The difference is the behaviour on different fabrics. Though the end effect is very different for each dye, the basic mechanic behind it is the same. Vibrant dyes are really dependant on the fabric. Leather will always result in a leather-kinda look, even on non leather fabrics. and same goes for metallic on non metallic fabrics. However, where gold dye on cotton looks a lil bit shiny, it is still much more shiny on metallic fabrics.

I have playedon gandarra since day one and find it pretty balanced. WvWvW is active, but mediocre. PvE is good and active and there is a good amount of guilds recruiting new players.

ele: very weak, high damage. To succefully play you need to dash out of danger all the time, making it challenging to play for those not used to that. You kill quickly and efficient. This makes the fights very dynamic but short.
Mesmer. Due to the use of clones you don’t have to dash away all the time. besides that you can take more damage anyway. so it is easier to stay alive. You deal however lesser damage making the fights longer. The amount of clones of you running araound can be disorientating, but when used to that you can relax annd enjoy.
As for weapons. The most used weapon for ele is a dagger (either scepter/dagger or dagger/dagger. The dagger however is a casterweapon and works as a scepter with a different skillset anyway. For the mesmer this goes for the greatsword. The greatsword is very popular among mesmers. but it is basicly used as a staff (but different set of skills).
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Not guardian in my opinion. Guardian is half a support character, so to take full advantage you should be in a group.
Warrior and ranger are the easiest to level and to play.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I really enjoyed my personal story but was a bit dissapointed about the personalisation. Yes there are different branches and routes you can follow but in the end it all comes to the same point. I really expected that you choiches determine the outcome. Join the vigil and you have to take Zhaitan on heads up. Join the priory and you find some mystic weapon in an ancient tome that kicks all of his behinds. Join the order of whispers and you find out bout his weak spot. Something in those lines. Having said that, I also have to admit that these where expectations. Even as it is right now I think the entire personal story (and I think I’ve played roughly 90% of all possible story lines) is very well done and epic and a good story.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Well I dunno how cost specifick it would be, but what would be worthwile is changing to windows 7 64-bit and adding 2x 2gb DDR2’s for a total of 8 GB. With windows 32 bits thats of no use cause that won’t use anything above 4 GB.
You could also consider enhancing performance by getting a solid state disc, and use that for windows and the game.
The main problem in my opinion is however the gpu. Though the gpu can be upgraded to a better model to get some better performance, for optimum performance I would suggest to change the mainboard. wich also means changing almost all but hd hard disk (I suspect it is sata, if not replace that one as well, but use it for storage only and use a ssd for running programs
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
did this last week with no problems. Sorry to hear though. Have you tried joining in with someone else who needs it (best is to stand at the entrance and ask people there in local chat)
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
My idea is that this is a tempory solution. You can still reach the old light house, get the PoI (go to the new one and climb down some rocks to the base of the old one). and even get into the lighthouse (at the back is some rubble you can climb up to the ledge, then walk around the ledge to the front).
My suspiccion is that they are lazy. The new lighthouse is being build, the plans for the old lighthouse are unknown to us. I suspect that when the new lighthous is ready, they will update the minimap and replace the PoI.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
The reward is based on how much you contributed. There are three level’s.
a: bronze, you did very little, maybe kill one enemy. in escort missions it can happen that you are killing a random regular spawn on the path, the escort is miles away and the point where goes as well, but you still get bronze cause you cleared the way.
b: silver reward you get when you do more
c: gold reward is for those thta really anticipate. Though still not needed to stay there fully.
For my daily-events I do a lot of event’s not for the reward, but jsut to make it count. Bronze is enough for that. I have seen the above system is a good system, but sometimes unbalanaced.
e.g. my lvl 30 mesmer (downscaled) can’t kill the champion bandit leader in the cave in Queensdale when there is nobody else around. Yesterday I cleaned the path way to him from the bodyguards, wich is rather easy. Bout an hour later someone killed the champion and I got gold reward for it. In my opinion I only deserved silver cause never touched the champion.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I disagree. First of all, there has been a lengthy talk bout the pale tree is an ED. This is very close.
I will first try to say some facts.
A: Ronan found the seed in a cave. Though the origin of the cave is unknown it is known that ventari lived in what is now the maguuma wastes and it replaced to the current location of the grove after the seed was found
B: Ventari found the seed before the awakening of the ED’s and planted it round the awakening of the great destroyer.
C: We know there is a second pale tree. though only one sylvari has been ever found thats from the other tree, that one isn’t evil or corrupted. So the tree itself isn’t corrupted either. Several soruces are pointing out the this tree is as well in the maguuma wastes. An area that is unaccesable for us at the moment.
D: though this is tricky…Arenanet has made error’s in timelines in the past. The last time we visited the maguuma jungle in gw1 was after the defeat of the great destroyer and after the war in kryta when Kieran Thackeray (the great great grandad of Logan) was going through to find and fight a member of the white mantle. By then we didn’t go far into the area, but it looked like it wasn’t changing.
I beleive that there is another Pale tree and that Modremoth is trying to corrupt it. Up till now he hasn’t been able to corrupt it, but he is corrupting the silvari that comes down (except one that got away).
The initial status of the pale tree is however that the silvari are good. Like all elder dragon’s modremoth corrupts living beings, he doesn’t create the evil followers out of nothing.

to explain a bit more:
Maximum costs when defeated, but broke.
If you are defeated, you can always travel to the nearest waypoint.
If you have no money in inventory, the cost will be deducted from your bank.
If you also have no money in the bank, you will not be charged beyond what you had left in inventory.
If the waypoint is contested, you will have to wait to travel (or have someone mail you the cost to travel to the next nearest waypoint).
You cannot travel to the mists while defeated.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Is he in an instance or standing right next you? I never had that problem, maybe one of you is in an overflow?
This: if one is in the official map and one in overflow the person in overflow gets the error message. That makes sense cause there is an overflow cause the main map is full.you cant join in a full map. ask your friend to join in with you in the overflow and your together.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I disagree that it would look anything as the hall of heroes. though the various realms of the gods are located in the mist, the rift, and the center of the rift, the hall of heroes has no connection to the god. it’s origin as well as who it might have constructed is unknown. Some humans might believe it was made by or for the human gods, but many other races from many other worlds will disagree. This is confirmed by the architecture of the now corupted Orr. Specially the circle-shapes over and over seems to me to be totally different then the hall of heroes architecture
Some other conceptart I found of Orr (though sunken it is uncorrupted):http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:%22Orr%22_concept_art.jpg

1: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Harathi_Sharpshooter You can see a lot of those
2: Thats not a bellybutton?
To be more serious. I think that it is the same function but plantlike. A silvari is grown like a pea in a pod, so they are connected to the pod (and and so indirectly to the pale tree). Given the humanoid looks of the silvari it does look like the pod functions as the womb, and they are connected to the pale tree throught a string, wich I imagine is connected to the belly-button.

The ultimate sacrifice was the rite of the great dwarf.
The goal of the great dwarf rite was to stop the great destroyer. The great destroyer was stopped. So they didn’t fail. Those are in my opinion solid facts. However as for their faith there is a lot uncertain. I tryll think that we will see their faith. both in GW1 and in GW2 they had too much attention and love and the story hasn’t trully finished. But I also believe that we have to wait till we get to kill Primordus that we trully meet them again. So patience is the answer here I’m afraid
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I think there may be a pretty good chance that the Utopia continent could make an appearance in Guild Wars 2, after all they did spend quite a lot of time on it before switching production to the sequel.
hmmmmmm, no they didnt spend much time at it, especially compared to the eotn and GW2. Most of the things they made so far and where good enough have been recycled. This goes from skins, to mechanics, to skills, to professions. the things that remain will be rejected ideas. Do you really want to see rejected ideas in the game??
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
thanks Konig, and grrrrrrrr, I really have to get those books…… hmmmm birthday is in april. Well guess patiance is a virtue :P
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
The problem with the lore of Utopia is that it got cancelled, but many ideas (specially lorewise) where used for both the Eye of the North expansion (specially the asuran race and culture) as well as GW2. The development of GW2 took a long time, and it is very likely that only a few elements of the originally lore made it to the game as it is today. We even don’t know if the asuran’s themself where part of Utopia in the original concept or that they only used the artwork and put the asuruan’s in that artwork later.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Speaking in lore: the hall is still there in the mists.
However the portals to the mists all lead to different parts and many are not connected within the mists. Currently there is no known portal. There where two known portals. One is now on the bottom of the sea, cause of the massive flood after the rise of Orr (the one in the battleislands).
The other one is in the tomb of primeval kings, wich is currently where Kalkatorrix build the center of his domain.
So unless someone finds a new portal the hall is out of bounds. atleast untill we kill Kalkatorrix.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Yes they can drop from everything, so not only those chest but also mobs.
The rarity is however extremely high, so it is prolly easier to win the national lottery.
I suspect the change to get the precursor as a drop is bout as low as getting it out of the mystic forge (without buying any of the rares/exotics or crafting them).
However these chests also drops rares/exotics that can be put into the forge, so go ahead and try .
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
A few error’s in the path nimrod.
If going from queensdale to gendarran fields, the exit is much more up. Though i think for running it’s easier from queesndale to kessex hills (godlost swamp portal) and then onwards to gendarran fields, the path to lion’s arch is much easier. From snowden drift you can’t enter Hoelbrak, you need to go to wayfairer foothills. Though it will be a detour, I would suggest indeed going to the houlbrak portal just to unlock it. Last point. from dieesa plateau you can’t enter plains of ashford, but you can directly enter the black citadel.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Step 1: Go to Divinity’s reach.
Step 2: enter the prulpe portal in the center of town
Step 3 (your now in Lion’s Arch) enter the portal guarded by 2 char.
Done, welcome in the black Citadel.

There is a reason that we are speaking english (and no it’s not my native language, just if so you didn’t see any of my earlier posts with way too many mistakes) and not Chinese.
From the outside perspective it would like the OP stated. Chinese is one of the oldest langugae in the world, it has the most native speakers and it represents the biggest economy of our time.
The reason is that english has been the language of traders. Historicly the humans where the first race to establish trading routes. The current most dominant trading organisation (the Black Lion Company) is founded by pirates. Though they are not exclusivly human, the majority is human.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I’m going to guess you started as a human or a char. The reason is the dynamic events in the starter zone are….well average. The human area is supposed to have a wow-event, but it is buggy at the moment. My advice would be to do the asura starting area called metrica province.
Explore it all and do the hearts, then when you are at the reactor check if the fire ele is there. It was my first world boss and really amazed me. Als, find out where the start of the metrica province jumping puzzle is and try to do that. Those are soem activity’s not very above the surface when you start in e.g. the human area.

Dev’s are not going to reply indeed. The reason is that the spawning trigger for (the events leading up to) the shadow behemoth are a secret for a long time. I am however disagreeing with the comunity who is blaming just the poor old bull. I have tried to find the trigger myself for too many hours without success. The bull is something new very recently. It might be the cause why he is not spawning as often as he did, but the main problem is that we dont even know why he spawns in the first place (and believe me, I checked every source there was from the twilight story, to the timed, one to the start this mini-event to all combinations off those).
As for changing his respawn trigger, I do agree with you. it should be changed, or they should take him out of the achievements.
