Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Hmmmm,
First of all I understand where your comming from, but also see it different. I think that when someone with the physique and background of Sieran does this sacrifice, knowing she really doesn’t have a fighting change, it make s the feeling to make that sacrifice worthwhile only stronger.
The only thing is that way she goes down if compared to Forgal is too hard (Sieran wouldnt last as long), but keep in mind that the story is designed not to know the faith of Forgal and how he did it-

My theory bout it is that the Karka invasion is actually a result of Zhaitan’s death.
I am assuming two things.
A: the invasion takes place after Zhaitan died
B: They are on the run for the DSD aka bubbles
Zhaitan’s base of operations in Orr means he controlled access to the sea of sorrow’s.I think the following might have happened. The Karkas got on the run for the DSD,and on their path they found Zhaitan and his forces blocking progress, so they where trapped between two forces with no way to go.
As soon as Zhaitan died they had a change to get out and entered the sea of sorrows resulting in what we know now as the karka invasion.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Zhaitan doesn’t have to rely on a mouth to eat, however it is convinient cause it means he can be busy with other important bussiness like bullying the races of the world.
The mouth might be relativly weak, but also easy replacable, and off course he can always eat for himself.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Yeah, you can use transmutation stones.
The item to put the skin on in the first time is one use only. So if you destroy the armor with the skin afterwards its gone forever. but when you transmutate it it isn’t a problem.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I’ve had issues with that one as well. One time the event was repeating very quickly and there was never a time when I could use the thing, another time I would get the “content disabled” error. Recently I was able to do it immediately following the event where you protect the cattle while he does the experiments. I was not able to interact with it before or during the event. It’s definitely a touchy one and very irritatingly so.
Don’t click the operator-char, but click the catapult itself
If your getting a content disabled message your clicking the char. He was making a wager for 50 silver bout how far cows would fly but that has been disabled for ages now.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
There’s only one JP I know of which requires light, and thats Sharkmaw. You’re a ranger, equip the cheapest torch you can buy in the TP. You won’t face combat in there.
Obsidian Sanctum in Eternal battle grounds has a dark room and you can face combat in there.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
But I’m guessing this doesn’t always happen. ^^
Thats right, but exact numbers arenot known. It also depends a bit on the base level of the equipment. exotics are from level 60+. So putting 4 level 30 rares into the forge will have 0 change to be a lvl 60 exotic. off course for lvl 60 rares the changes are higher. Due to this it is nearly impossible to give an good percentage change.
For dyes (wich doesn’t have a level requirement) the change is 20% to have a rarity upgrade.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
No there isn’t an option and personally I’m glad
To have such a build in function you need to build the software yourself (wich is a specialised discipline) or you need to by a ready made plug-in from e.g. fraps. Both would cost money. Anet has devoted their budget in what they are excellent in. Building a kitten good game. You areright a lot of people record the game. But it would be an optimistic guess it is still only 5% of the players. So you are asking 95% of the community to pay for something they are not going to use.
No offense though. I love the great vids people are making.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
set your alarm clock at 5 am in the morning CET for EU-servers or 3 am PST for NA-server and transfer then. Server is full message depends on the active amount of players. once your in however your in.
Small hint: don’t put any light on and dim your monitor the evening before. This has the best change to get back to sleep, plus the sweet dreams of sweet success

I wanted to be a magic mushroom and say ‘bite me’
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I had a character that I deleted in order to recreate as a different class. In the 10 minutes it took me to recreate the character my name was taken and I was forced to use an alternate spelling that I liked significantly less. This was during launch week though, so I support some kind of delay for unlocking the name if this hasn’t already been implemented.
This was a know bug. The situation was that the database of known/locked characters was offline due to the heavy traffic in the first week. if you would have filed a support-ticket then you would have gotten the original charactername you wanted.
The system has worked perfectly since then:
a: delete a character.
b: make another character within 24hours
c: You will always have your name again
If it is failing file a support ticket as soon as it is failing (do not wait for months).
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Yes, it would affect your ping but prolly not notable.
Anet has servers on different locations. each server (not realm or world!) will have a different ping. NA servers are oprimised for access from NA and EU servers are optimised for acces from EU. but in the end the routing of packets (wich is making the ping time) is being optimised so the difference is getting lower and lower. I doubt if you will experience a real difference.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
just to add, at high level’s you can have a set of 6 runes. it will say something like:
1) +5% something
2) +12 this
3) +4% another thing
4) summons something
5) +25 that
6) summons awesomeness
Those are called superior runes. You need 6 of them on different armor items to have the full effect. Like Arsenic touch said dont worry bout it too much, if you find two of them same by accident then use them both. if not just wait till your 80 and you can build your ultimate armor set
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
At the moment, servers are accountbound, you can switch your entire account for free to another server and you will keep all your characters and items (except influence in guilds you are a part of).
In due time (though im doubting they will ever get it ready -sigh-) there will be a fully functional guesting service, allowing you to play with friends on a different server with just a click of your mouse. till then that only works in dungeons.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Nope it doesn’t.
DR mechanics have been unclear for obvious reasons. pls do not claim to have found a loophole. if you did then keep it for yourself. for the rest pls play the game as intended. the OP asked for solid information. it is always guessing, but I have my own ideas, but for the cause of what the OP is asking for I stick to the wiki.
(and im saying a lot between the lines here)
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Phobia…
My info comes from here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Diminishing_returns
I’m not saying the official wiki is always right. so if you have solid proof (more then just your own observations) please feel free to change the wiki-page by clicking edit.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
The pants of the top one is virgil pants indeed. the screenshots on various sites don’t show it cause the rest of the armor is covering the pants.

With the heavy male Norn voice you can sometimes hear at Hangrammr Climb’s heart ‘Help Bjarni honor the Hare spirit’ I shout ‘Bunny, Bunny, Bunnyyyyyyy’ to that.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Torgrim, thank you very much, though I’m playing since start I always missed that part. I reported your post, not to administrate it, but cause I truly think this info should be in the sticky’s of the – players helping players- section of this forum, and reporting is the only way to bring it to the attention of the mods.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I’ve never been into full RP-ing. But you might want to check out this website: http://guildwars2roleplayers.com/
Though there are no designated RP-servers (meaning having different moderating rules enforced on the players to ensure roleplaying), the most role players can be found on the servers Tarnished Coast (Northern America) and Piken Square (EU+rest of the world).
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Thanks Konig, This really made me laugh.
But more on topic if it is right or wrong, or counterproductive. Keep in mind that even though I’m a big fan of lore and roleplaying, in the end this is a fantasy world. No real cub’s are produced through reproduction as we know it. We make player characters and developpers make npc’s and their story’s and characters. This fanatasy is mostly created for our amusements, but like many great storytellers, Arenanet might have a message behind this part of the story. It is in the way the obvious bad guys (Flame legion) are against feminism. And think that female’s have a different role in life then males. So maybe all that is behind this story is the warning to male players to treat woman with respect and as equals
J.K. Rowling wrote it down perfectly: ‘Of course it’s all in your head, Harry, but why should that mean it isn’t real?’
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I doubt they will add new professions…
Well actually, I doubt we will see new playable races. Just didn’t want to say it too hard cause so many people are enthousiastic bout it. I do remember however that they stated that the 5 starter area’s will be all there is, and there will be no new racial hometowns in future expansions.
I hope however that the enthousiasm we are all displaying makes them dicide different.
I think it will be more likely that future full expansions (lost shores is a minor expansion imo) will come with new professions. It is easier then developping a new race. Both as the OP is suggestion would be awesome, though I don’t share his enthousiasm that it has to be linked lorewise.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
First off all, Diminishing Returns as the mechanic is called grows in ‘punishment’. So it doesn’t drop from 100% reward to 0% reward if you do the same path twice. It is however acount wide and shared between characters. So to get the same full 60 tokens again you need to wait for the daily reset at 17:00 (PDT) / 0:00 (UCT)
So the shorter answer to your question is 24 hours max.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Guildwiki.org is the original wiki (not the official wiki that came later) for Guildwars 1.
Do not use it as a source of information for GW2 unless you are looking into lore.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Almost all type of creatures are on any of the starter maps. So my advise is to do them there. The concentrations are good, easy and quick to kill and respawn rate is always good.
Just keep in mind that if those creatures are needed for a heart you give the new players a fighting change to finish their heart.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
The multiple target hit is very life like, but hard to plan on.
Melee hit’s will automaticly face the target you are attacking. If the attack is e.g. a swing, and in the swing path is another enemy you hit that one too (mostly with lesser damage and never crit).
So predicting it is really really hard. Just see it as a small bonus.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Minute,
With all respect. I have heard your argument before. But in the end, After they made a list (on paper nextto your pc/laptop), visit every map again and crossout if on 100%, they all found a PoI just somewhere on a map they thought top have 100% on a long time ago. I know it is a lot of work and annoying, but the only way to find your missing PoI (given the fact that you have the chantry PoI and Claw Island’s).
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Tengu where not from Cantha. Their origin is unknown, but they where active in the whole world. Even though the players never encountered them in Elona, they claim to have had presence there. After the cleansing of the Tengu in Cantha, the only branch that trusted humans in the first place, they moved to Tyria and build the dominion.
I also disagree that all professions have a human nature. Asuran Elementalists have existed since the time they crawl out of the ground (Vekk). Char used all kind of professions in the long lasting war in Ascalon (see the char bosses in gw1’s pre-searing ascalon). For most professions it is simply unknown wich race invented them.
I think however that if a new profession would be introduced it should rather be something build around an elonian professions.
During the events of the Eye of the North we know that sins, rits, dervishes and paragon’s started to grow in popularity in Tyria (continent) as well. After the cut off with Cantha, the sin’s adapted in the profession of thieves (atleast thats how I feel it). And there are some good indication’s that rit’s took part in the development of the guardian. Although Elona is lesser isolated (the order of whispers gets trough from time to time), the Elonian professions aren’t active at the moment.
I would like to see a return of for example the paragon. But off course game wise in a way they have learned from their mistakes in the past (so no more Imba).
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Yeah, I have it sadly. Googled, searched the forums, can’t find any other that’s kinda hidden. Thanks for answering tho.
Guess you nailed the ones that are obvious.
Did you get the two new ones in lion’s arch? Cause if you completed lion’s before the Karka event there have been 2 new PoI’s
next step is to make a list of all maps in the world (explorable area’s, towns, WvWvW maps, visit them all and cross out the maps checked.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
1: The book sells at your profession trainer. You find them in your starting area (where you first spawn into the real world) and in all big city (they are in lion’s arch around the bridges connecting the mystic plaza with the grand piazza). All have the name like elementalist trainer or ranger trainer. One has a book with your profession sign above his/her head. Thats the the trainer for your profession.
First book cost 10 silver and unlocks each trait for the first 10 points.
2: At the moment I can only find the one cd version. I think the 4 cd soundtrack was a limited one. http://www.amazon.com/Guild-Wars-Original-Game-Soundtrack/dp/B009F0DWFQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357381889&sr=8-1&keywords=guildwars+2+soundtrack

on my mesmer, I combine dodge-back with other defensive skills like clones, knockbacks and freezes to keep melee foes at ranged distance. I’m only level 20 on my mesmer but it works great. (greatsword, decoy and mirror image. I only just unlocked skill 9, so im still deciding what I want there).

This could have 2 reasons
1: the content wasn’t disabled cause of wintersday but for other reasons, e.g. a possible exploit or not working as intended.
2: it was was disabled cause of wintersday and they have forgotten. Best bet is to post this into the bug section of this forum, or type /bug in the game.
This section of the forum is almost never checked by dev’s.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Though I agree this is a bug, it is very minor and I think on purpose. They also didn’t change the NPC’s dialogues in the former lighthouse, and they are only there after some extensive climbing. I think they are waiting for the workers to have build the new lighthouse (read desiginers to make the drawings final) before changing the map.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
For as the glyph of renewal I’m certain it isn’t a bug: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Update-Notes-October-7th-2012/first#post370244
It was changed on purpose, dunno why, maybe to prevent the res of dead players in WvWvW. I do agree that it should have a shorter cooldown, but thats something for the suggestions forum.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I don’t think this is a balance issue. I suspect it is mostly a problem with the animations. To get it as offhand it needs custom animations for the offhand. and for dualwielding it needs a redo of all animations.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Im not sure where, but not so long ago (1 maybe 2 months ago max) I heard a statement that they are still working on this. I searched, but couldn’t find it in 1 to 2 minutes.

Just a small request (if possible) to make a different icon for topics made by or commited on by admins and topics made by or commited on by other Anet staffmembers.
The direct reason is this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lore/Tengu-discussion/first
Tengu being the next playable race is a hot discussion that got my interest. An admin commented that she relocated the topic to another section. Now I am all the time thinking that there is an official Anet statement bout this topic.
Also had this with different topics.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
First off all, I had never heard of this scepter before. But as you didn’t get an answer I did some research. First off all it is on the tradepost (for a lil bit over 10 gold btw and there are 28 available). This means it isn’t an ultra rare item, but also that it isn’t available through crafting.
The wikipage is saying: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Emberglow That it drops from chests in AC. Nothing bout CoF or mystic forge.
For mystic forge it can be a random drop e.g. as a alternate drop for ‘storm’ (legendary pre-cursor), but If you don’t want to buy it on the TP I would suggest to go to AC.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I don’t have a very good computer either. Game is playable on high settings up till 12 FPS. Below that I have to turn to lower settings. This only happens with big zergs in WvW or with dragonfights like the claw of jormag. So it is very playable even with a lesser computer. I never had an unplayble game on lower settings except for the karka event in lion’s arch (wich many people had problems with).

I bought this bottle of champagne last week, and hey surprise, now new years day has passed they are suddenly on sales. Do you think I could get the store to give me the difference back?
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Hi Regulus,
I think your better off by making a support account and filing a supportticket. That way a support agent will get a ticket, investigate your claim and e.g. make a restoration of the influence or put it back in queu for you for free.
Goodluck
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Where GW1 had a purely ancient fantasy look, in GW2 they incorperated more modern fantasy. SF is still fantasy.
I think that Orr is made very perfectly both in the loading screen as in the world itself.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Hmmmmm, maybe, the size of the goldcoin increased.
1 gold isn’t really an amount of gold but is one gold coin. If it got a lot bigger it would make sense.
On the other hand It could also be that all the major goldmines are in Elona and Cantha, being mostly cut off new gold supply’s it has become more and and more vaulable.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
@Deified,
Personally I loved NF. I know a minor group of people disliked Kormir. But it is not as much as the hatred against e.g. Rurik or Trahearne. Please try and make arguments on our own behalve instead of only referring to the argument I’m right cause others agree with me.
So please try to explain what is wrong with Kormir, and maybe how you should have written Nightfall yourself.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Are you sure the level 69 mobs wheren’t ‘trained’ there by another player. Sometimes mobs follow a running player and dont return home afterwards.
To solve this bug and the training effect I would still say that mob’s should be downleveled as well.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
From the wiki:
Runes of Divinity increase all primary character attributes – Power, Toughness, Vitality, and Precision – along with increased Healing Power, Critical Damage and Condition Damage.
So yeah.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
What was the inspiration behind Salad-head Trahearn?
Though I agree with the fact that Trahearne is very annoying and could have had more depht in his character, I would kindly not suggest to call him salad-head. It is disrespectfull to all Silvari, including players like me.
On topic. I would like an AMA with the writers. But also would like to ask to have a little bit more bout the possible questions. Though it means anything can be asked, my fear is a bit proven with Kain’s comment that an AMA now would mostly mean it would go round aspects of the game that are not so much liked. That would mean the writers would prolly be dissapointed in such an event and might likely not repeat it in the future.
So to make the writers enthousiastic, please post some of your possitive questions here
Mine would be:
‘Can you tell us more bout ’bubbles’. I have a hunch that the Karka event has a connection with the deep sea dragon, but it would be nice if you could confirm this connection. I also am interested if we are going to learn more bout the nature of this dragon in the near future (any solid information like a name would be welcome as well off course)’
To be clear, I’m not discouraging critisism, I also think that e.g. Trahearne is a poorly written character, a bit like prince Rurik in GW1, and I wish Trahearne the same faith in the near future. But I do want to prove there will be a nice balance in our questions.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
You just said to forget terms like tank healer and dps and then go and classify guardian as basically a healer class >.<
I said somewhat close to a healerclass….
Where a warrior and a thief is mainly build round self heals (and other qualifications), a guardian can also heal/buff others pretty well. Although there are a lot of playstyles possible with a guardian, in a group people are kinda expecting you to keep them alive.
And I’m trying to answer your question, so pls tread me with a bit more respect.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Can’t help you directly but…..
According to: http://www.gw2guilds.org/view-guild/6004 there is a guild called Spirit of Faith playing on Fort Apsenwood server. if thats the guild, they also have a website wich is linked there.
