good rifle skin?

It really depends on your own preferences. My engineer is a female with Zho’s armor. She is a real lady and prefers a very slim riffle. So I went for the http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ebon_Vanguard_Rifle

If it was a big male norn I would prolly go more for http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Charrzooka_

Best is to look at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gallery_of_Rifles to see what you like and will be fitting and use the preview function in game.

Are Hrangmer and Citadel of Flame the same?

in Lore

Posted by: mercury ranique.2170

mercury ranique.2170

No they are not the same. Hrangmer isn’t on the map so the exact location is unknown. But the citadel of flames, being on the map means this is a different place.

Keep in mind that the charr homeland is a lot bigger and that after the events of GW1 the flame legion got pushed to be an outcast legion compared to the others. Given the fact that the ash legion currently holds the most lands that where once flame legion, I guess it is somewhere in the ash legion’s lands

I hear a lot of the people complaining how to navigate Rata Sum. In case your going from metrica to lion’s arch or the other way around I found an easy trick; always walk past the vista. (the vista is above the path between the lion’s arch portal and the metrica province portal). I know it’s minor, but all small things help right

CarlSpackler,
The bugforum is not the way to contact support for personal issues. It is to report and discuss bugs with ohter players. This way the developpers can see how big of an issue something is. If a lot of people have problems simular to yours, they are going to need to implements a fix quickly. The devs read this, but they don’t act cause you posted here.

For personal support issues, For example cause you traded something in the TP and never got the money, you can best file a support ticket at https://en.support.guildwars2.com/

A support specialist will look into the matter and give you an answer in a few days (most likely if you are right, making sure you get your money). If this is an incident the case is closed for them. If more people have issues like this, they make it a known bug.

Then they will use this forum to see how sever the bug is.

Ranger or Warrior?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: mercury ranique.2170

mercury ranique.2170

Rangers and warriors are both classes that are pretty easy to play. the advantage is that in WvWvW you can be ok. Other classes are harder to master, but gives you the possibility to excell and with skil, practise and talent, be better then others.

So hearing what you think I would not suggest considering to play a warrior but I would advise to bring the ranger to level 80, so you have the full potential of the class. Then if you still don’t like the ranger, try something totally different, that is harder to master. For example, thief, mesmer or engineer.

Which class is for me?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: mercury ranique.2170

mercury ranique.2170

hmmm, Though Wartna is right bout the complains, I would put it differently.

Many people use the forum to convince mainly the developpers bout what they don’t like bout a class. That doesn’t mean they don’t like the class. They actually care so much bout it they want it to be improved. This can be confusing to people when picking a class.

My main is an engineer and I think you should give it a try. I don’t rely on turrets. I use typicly two turrets in my build. But I don’t put them up all the time.
There ar emany playstyles with the engineer. Mine is as follow:
against single enemy’s I use a riffle. The rifle skills are doing very nice damage, but they are alsovery good to keep a foe away from (together with regular kiting and dodging) so you take only 10% of the damage you would take when standing still and using damage weapons. For fighting multiple enemy’s I prefer the flamethrower kit for AoE damage and nuking. The grenadekit is better for this. but harder to play.

The turrets have two functions. The first is to add to the damage and the second is to have additional crowd control. I keep them for the harder fights cause of the reload time of the skills (up to 60 seconds after you destroy it).

In Lion’s arch they are found near the bridges that lead from the mystic plaza to the grand piazza.

Guild server change.

You will loose all influence and upgrades
or actually, they stay on the old server. A guild always exist on all servers. So the basic information like the roster, the name and the emblem is the same, no matter what server your on. But each server stores the influence and upgrades separate. So when changing server, you will leave this influence and upgrades behind.

The only exception to this is the emblem itself.

Question about account guild

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: mercury ranique.2170

mercury ranique.2170

Salgari is right. You can be member of multiple guilds, membership is always account wide (so whatever character your on it will be visable in all the guildrosters). You will always only take one spot in the roster. each character can decide to represent no guild or one of the guilds your account is member off. You can only representing is characterbound (so with different characters you can represent different guilds).

so short answer to you question is NO
I do hope my clarification helped you to see the mechanisme behind guilds. It is rather difficult and technical, but off all the mmo’s I’ve played for the members its the best.

Can anyone help me get 3 hom points in gw1??

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: mercury ranique.2170

mercury ranique.2170

ok. I am doing 4 points, but 3 are enough, for one you need all 3 campaigns and eotn for the rest you only need one campaign and eotn. the one with all three is easy though.
1: make a character, any campaign will do but the fastest is in factions, and play the game to level 10 (my personal record is 1 hour, but in factions you should be able to do that in 3 hours if you are very inexperienced). Make sure your character picks ranger as your primary or secondairy profession (you can change to ranger as secondairy profession later on but it requires a lot more gameplay)
2: follow the storryline to the porttown (for factions that would be kaineng center, when you hit an outpost called the marketplace just exit north and run to the north to get there, all enemy’s can be avoided)
3: outside the gates of kaineng center you see a robot called m.o.×., talk to him to recieve the message you are the one and to unlock him as a hero (he isn’t there if you don’t have all campaigns).
4: in your port town take the quest to get to the eye of the north (you get a popup message when lvl 10 and in the townwho you need to talk to)
5: follow the quests to get you to the eye of the north (the outpost) and to enter the hall of monuments, you will unlock 3 more heroes on the way and recieve a tapestry at the end.
6: use the tapestry on the monument of fellowship and if you unlocked him put mox on display (4 points in total now).
7: go back to your starting campaign and continue leveveling up till 20 (again questing in factions is the fastest way, prophecy’s is realy slow, if you have both prophecy’s and another campaign it might be worth to travel to e.g. factions)
8: when level 20 make a pvp-only character.
9: in the battleislands go to the zaishen menagery with the skill charm anmimal equipped and release your black wolf (talk to emryd the tamer to do that)
10: take your regular pve character to the same outpost and area (zaishen menagery) and talk to the guy next to emryd in the circle pen to release a lvl 20 wolf. then use the skill charm animal to capure the wolf
11: go to the hall of monuments and put the wolf on display in the fellowship monument. (your 5th point)

12: go back to the temple of balthasar (by boat on the map) and talk to high priest zhang. after that talk to tolkano (in the same outpost). you will now have tournament points, use them to buy 10 zaishenkeys
13: sell the zaishenkey to another player for atleast 6,500 gold (6,5 platinum or 6,5 k) each, you should now have 65 platinum wich is a nice amount of money.
14: buy another tapestry from another player for no more thne 10 platinum.
15: buy an undedicated miniature from another player for not more then 20 platinum
16: go to the hall of monuments and put the new tapestry in the monument of devotion and display the miniature there. (your 6th point)

if you dont have all campaign and need another point cause you didn’t have mox:
take in the hall of monuments the quest northern allies and start the subquest tracking the nornbear. when following this querst you soon get to Gunnar’s Hold.
Buy a deldrimor armor remnant of another player for no more then what you have left (cause of this the price has risen very much after release so it takes time in the market place to find a seller, if your not planning to return to gw1 dont look too much for a bargain, the latest prices goes from 20-35k, take what you can get). Go back to gunnar’s hold. and get an elite hero armor for either vekk, ogden or gwen (by trading the remnant to Gunnar Poundfist) and put it to display at the monument of fellowship.

Doing it this way will take you 4-5 hours of playtime and maybe 5 hours max in the market to buy/sell the stuff you need.

Given the fact that not many people are having this problem, this seems like a personal bug on your character. Therefor posting it her is likely not going to be the best place to get this fixed. I would suggest you file a supportticket. Then the anet technici can look into you case and find a suitable solution.

I think this might be a bug that started after one of the most recent updates. But I had two occassions where the exit star for an instance wasn’t there.

The first was in divinity’s reach. I entered the home instance there and the star to leave wasn’t there. I needed to travel to a nearby waypoint cause you can’t reach the red area either (to get kicked our). When I entered again it loaded with the exit point.

The second time was in the black citadel stockade.

Cause both times where in town instances, it wasn’t a real problem (waypoints are available and free in towns). But still a bit annoying.

So to make clear what it is: The green star where you have to go to leave the instance is not there. When you walk through the point where the message to exit should pop-up you don’t get the message.

Conclusion it is NOT an area you need for the explorer achievement ascalonian explorer.

If thats the achievement you are trying to get, you need to look elsewhere I’m afraid.

Edit- I got that title only by doing all map completion and (atleast trying) to do all the jumping puzzles. Where with other area’s I needed to find missing area’s I got the acalonian traveler title as soon as I finished map completion of fireheart rise.

Currently when one set is used up I make a note to buy new and switch to a higher set till then. If you could combine them (e.g. to max 1000). You would never have any problem that you are using a too expensive set.

Tell me a bit about Dungeons

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: mercury ranique.2170

mercury ranique.2170

As being said, finding a dungeon group is basicly done in chat. There are also guilds specialised in dungeon runs.

The minimum requirement for Ascalonian catacombs is lvl 30. Though personally I would wait till your level 45 and start with CM. I have three reasons for it.

a: dungeon’s are a lot harder then regular fights. Every fight is like a bossfight. meeting the requirements and specially being 5 levels above gives you a good change to you also have gear that is on-level (without resorting to the need of investing money). CM is a level 40 dungeon. So logic dictates level 45 would be optimum. For a starting dungeneer I always advise CM cause it is shorter then AC, while the fights are of the same difficulty level.

b: Skills. Having enough skillpoints and skills unlocked means you are more felxible when things get harder and when you need to change your role in the team. At lvl 45 you will have the most important skills unlocked and also very likely a so called superelite (The ones that cost 30 skillpoints).

But like others pointed out. It is very much possible to do a dungeon even under the recommended level.

Voice Chat - Headset Recommendation

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: mercury ranique.2170

mercury ranique.2170

I think a comfortable headset shouldn’t be too much expensive. There are 3 important things to look for.

1: Adjustability: I wear glasses as well, but my headset is so precisely adjustable that it doesn’t hit my glasses anywhere.
2: wide: make sure the distances between the two ‘ears’ is either adjustable or wide enough for the size of your head. The ring between them shoud be resting on your head, and not levitating cause your headset isn’t wide enough. (And no I’m not claiming you have a big head ;o
3: Flexibility. unless your are planning on smashing your headset around choose one that is flexible. It may not look as durable (and it isn’t), but it is a lot comfortable then ‘stiff’ headsets.

according to the above, don’t buy them online. some people has a fit all head and have no problem buying them online, but it looks like you don’t. Go to a store where you can try them on.

Wizard's Tower

in Lore

Posted by: mercury ranique.2170

mercury ranique.2170

My personal suspission is that the tower’s origin is of seer’s. The first reasons is that the architecture is unique. The second reason is that the tower is made to be highly defendable. The seers have been almost all whiped out (wich might be the reason that people sought to enter it to unlock the secrets there, and why the one who did, Isgarren, could claim it for himself).

That doesn’t bring us much closer to the identity of it’s current owner. Though one Asura called Zinn was experimenting on a seer and he or someone who continued his research might have found the secret to get inside.

Then again, we just don’t know. It is and always have been an enigma. It might be that Arenanet doesn’t has any serious plans with it and keeps it for the jjoke of mystery and are really enjoying our outragious wild ghosthunts

This last point can be backed up btw. The quest ‘The Villainy of Galrath’ was the first quest they made in GW1. It might have been that they had a lot of different plans for the story and wanted to let the castle play a significant part in it. It might be that they abanded that line a long time ago but liked the looks so much they left the castle in. Cause of the speculations round it, they might have decided to give it a return in gw2 again.

Again it is all pure speculation.

I truly think that the former god of death can’t be unmade for the simple reason that you can’t kill death.. Having said that, If they let us put them to sleep on purpose has to be seen. We can never truly know if they have plans for him and if so how detailed they are (like ranging from ‘we might do something with him in the future’ to ‘he is going to be in a dungeon we are revealing on this and that date’ ).

Personally I don’t hope to see him again and the reason is that I like to see new things. But if they do it I hope they do it in an original way.

Is Abaddon stronger than Elder Dragons?

in Lore

Posted by: mercury ranique.2170

mercury ranique.2170

The elementalist can deal more dps then the mesmer. But in the end the mesmer can survive longer due to having better defense mechanisms. The amount of corruption one can spread isn’t the only factor that decides how strong you are. In the end, the amount of corruption Abadon could deal was perhaps higher, but he was pretty easy to kill, even by now outdated skills and standards.

Micah Fergson is comparing GW2 skills and GW1 skills pretty good:‘Any skills I once taught pale in comparison to the power you wield, hero.’

The influence of the God’s however shouldn’t be minimised though. It was Abadon. Who gave the world the power of magic. Though sources tell of magic before the arrival of the god’s, the lore is a bit shady there, it is officially said that magic was presented to atleast the humans by Abadon. The first raw version of this magic was however too powerfull so King Doric got the God’s to limit it by creating the bloodstones and therefor the devision into shcools (one could only study one school of magic after that).

The reason however that we could defeat at least one elder dragon was that we could overcome that limitation by working together. Not only combining the power of the 4 schools, but also the combined enguinity of the 5 prominent races (with the help of other races like the Quaggan’s and the Skritt).

I agree that the way this is designed is ill chosen. It can be done though, but you really need to watch the flags directly opposite of you. (so at the starting point, the flag at the halfway point, and at the halfway point, the flag at the end).

Like previously posted it has changed now. If you fall off, do not use 4 to heal you, but wait till your dead and retry again from the respawn poin t. Then you’ll be behind the bridge.

The jumping still has to be done, but take your time and you’ll be okay.

‘Retrieve frozen kegs from the ice cave and bring them to Volden.
Enter the ice cave where the nearby skill point is to retrieve the kegs’

I have never tried to catch anything, but I always filled the heart by going into this cave, pick up a keg, walk back and give it to the questgiver. Bout 10 walks should do the trick if I remember correctly. The cave entranceis kinda hard to see and make sure you avoid the wurms in there.

Loved and Lost, level 4 quest (help needed)

The green circle on the map is too big. at the bottom you see a skull. That is the NPC that needs defending from the invading waves of undead. It is also where you activated the turrets. So thats where you have to fight the undead. if you move too far out you get this situation.

So yes it is a bug, but a minor one. Stay foot and you will win

Uh… guys or gals, I did not say some of that stuff.

I’ll repost what I said in simple terms.

- Getting two “The Hunters”, one for looks, one for Legendary.
- Transmute “The Predator” (Because its hideous as heck) into “The Hunter” for looks, while keeping “The Predator” legendary stats.

Did either of you fully read my post before you replied?

Ahum- This is the players helping players forum. I am very willing and trying to help you. But I am not going into who is a better reader kinda flames.

I said: ‘the difference in stats is soo minute and the amount of work to get a legendary is so much, that means that if you don’t like the skin of a legendary I would advise you not to get it, but just go for an exotic’ in my original post.

Wich is showing I have understood and read what you want. And I have given my opinion on no being worth it. So I am kindly asking to talk to me in a different tone. I am trying to help you. Thanks for your cooperation ;-)

Jumping Puzzles - Suggestions?

Some of my friends are also very badly at jumping puzzles. I am average at best. The best advise is to check alternate controls and practise all the time. It doesn’t need to be a jumping puzzle, but when going from A to B try the high road and not the normal path, when talking in town, do some jumping.

Besides that don’t get angry or annoyed. if you can’t make it right away, stop smashing your keyboard, stop, come back later and try again then.

@ Sedrigoth.1978

Wow… what a let down. So I have to get two “The Hunter” s, one for Legendary and one to transmute the Legendary into the “The Hunter” for looks.

Now I wonder before I do all that work, if the special effects from the Legendary “The Predator” will be transferred to “The Hunter” after transmute.

On top of that since Devs said that Legendaries will be updated, stat wise and damage wise, when Ascendant weapons come out; if the Transmuted Legendary will be updated as well.

You don’t have to transmutate the legendary. Honestly, the difference in stats is soo minute and the amount of work to get a legendary is so much, that means that if you don’t like the skin of a legendary I would advise you not to get it, but just go for an exotic (like the hunter).

The legendary animations will not transfer over when you transmutate it to another skin. The animations are part of the skin and not the fact that it is saying legendary in the stats.

I’m not sure if the devs are going to update transmutated legendary’s as well. I think they should, but they might forget bout it cause I don’t think many people will transmutate a legendary to get a different skin.

Best T6 Mats Farming Spots? Or Donations?

TP is the fastest way to get them. You just click buy, and there it is.

I have to agree with this. The droprate is rather low, so farming specifick for them to drop is very slow, and with all the other drops you’ll get and sell you’ll have the money to buy them soon enough. So best would be to pick up a farm that you are really good at to just make money

1: So is the crystal desert, the fireislands, etc. That doesn’t mean they will be reachable in the future. I am just saying that what your asking can’t be answered

2: Yip, there are elonian’s in kryta and the continent Tyria. Wow. Then they are really sure to make an expansion. That is making a conclusion like that there are Quaggan’s in the game, so Quaggan’s will be a playable race in the future…..

Level 80 weapon choices.

Personally, I would suggest deciding on the looks. on stats and effectivity there isn’t a big difference and your lvl 80 weapon will be there forever or till youget a legendary weapon. in both cases with the use of transformation stones you can have almost every stat. Second of all, upgrades can be taken of a weapon and put onto a new one with a black lion salvage kit. Except some dungeon-rewards most stats are available in both karma, gold and materials. So there ios not a lot of choosing. I am an engineer, and got my weapon skin for karma cause it fits her. The stats are from an exotic weapon on the TP and the upgrade from a drop.
