my thought on the matter is preety clear as yours

anet saw the mesmer community is happy with all the new chages while others not so much, thus they felt they gave us unintentiaonl buffs while ignoring 2 years of complaining
when they checked how many mesmer log in probably they saw too many in wvw and pvp so they though to them self ohhh probably there is some OP builds out there so they checked it and so that before the patch only 10 ppl played mtd in pvp and now 200 which cause a scream by all bew players to nerf conditions
thus they nerf mtd back to squere one.
after seeing what they have done they will give other class more time to settle down and try to handle the condi rush even if engi and ele burning 15 stacks is surely OP atm .

is this what you want josh to tell you – he cant as it puts them on stupid/ mistake action which they cant revert

if you pu then you cant cap in tpvp so basically pu stays as wvw roaming build – who cares about roaming with stealth – go play thief
mtd must be back even if they nerf all other class condi application

be sure that if i saw mtd with 1 stack was ok i would have said so and demonstrate how. but its far from it

Yeah, the worst part of this is that tetrodoxin is right.

Conditions are way too strong at the moment, and there will almost definitely be some blanket nerfs to tone them down. Unfortunately, MtD is going to be forgotten when that happens, and will be even more worthless than ever.

if they gonna nerf more down conditions its means condi mesmer will be nerf to the ground .
anet needs to nerf each class application and not the condition itself

so seeing what they did to mesmer they probably gonna do that all classes wide which means condition still be left out of the meta (pve, wvw and pvp but not 1v1)

The new MTD variant build concept

so after the nerf of mtd which makes condi shatter not useful in tpvp i came up with this build concept which i prepared for the upcoming nerf .

yes i knew many more mesmer will try this mtd which cause an overreact and scream for nerf

nevermind read the other qq forum

concept:
condirupt version with signet distortion which also cleanse 1 condi (4 signet)

condition stacking:
bleeding as cover 1-3
confusion 5-10
torment 5-12
weakness when interupt
blind when shatter
vulnerability 5-15 (buff condi dmg)
poison from sigil
burning from AA staff

i use carrion for power and condi dmg as with IP and distortion i am but more safe to be in low armor

the weakness is conditions and fast huge burst after using your signets

concept – dont spam shatter skills and let your illusion to do some dmg when you see the enemy rdy to burst or attack stun and shatter
when they stun use staff for AA burning and bleeding

if played right can take down as fast as the former mtd build

the basic i predict was that all power class got buffed which make the power mesmer OP with huge burst and interupt
while condi mes shatter hardly changed with 2 stack as you hardly gonna make yourself invulnerable in melee to proc ip for more 2 torment stacks
thus condi shatter suffer the most
we lost burning dmg so even with IE you cant stack more than 2 if you lucky
we lost bleeding DD so hardly any bleeding cover as you need to shatter to do more dmg now
we lost now torment stack
we lost 4 stacks of confusion for 1 burning stack

in pvp no one will use pu (maybe for hot join testing) so now we cant compet with the zerk meta any more and punish them with torment and confusion

if power shatter and thief could be 50% win 1v1 and 80% in team fight against us
for few hours yesterday it was 80% 1v1 and 50% team fight and now will be 0%

so the meta for the mesmer will stay power shatter with 1-2 builds

while again other classes got better ways to proc huge condi burst

if they want to tune down the torment dmg they should have put it for 4 sec duration instead of 6. then it will be more burst short dmg as usualy ppl cleanse every 1-3 sec so to put in on 6 sec isnt realy matter unless they used all their cleanse and then even 5 stacks will kill them. but now i will hardly do any burst significant dmg so my team will want me to play zerker build ….

i dont have any problem with nerf condi but pls make other class nerf too

engi as for now way too strong
even condi guard with burning can 3k burning dps so why cant we with torment now

in pvp and wvw mtd will not be useable with 50% nerf as we lost all our burst

i have fought with this in team arena as i felt it was ok with 2 stacks as ppl dodge cleanse block

sure in hot join i reckt ppl who just run and pew pew

thieves i had more easy way with f3 but its not becuase of mtd rather ip

they made a mistake

i wish the community will rage and protest

op state condi nerf and its bit true even if its not mtd trait

while other class got burning raise from 1 stack to 2 stack or bleeding and poison we still have 1 stack with AA staff
so our burning dmg went from 800 to 350
bleeding also as if we need to shatter as anet wants to our illusion dont have time to do their crit bleed so again nerf

regarding mtd – do you always do 4 clones shatter which means are you always on melee range – no so not always you get the full potential of the ip as offensive trait

which means over all we got nerf a bit (not much but still as nerf)

took to team arena 5v5 full team

thief is still a problem with its huge burst which make me more alert with f3+f4
but then they went SR if i manage to daze them
blind on shatter very helpful

so we have more defense tools but our condi burst basically stay the same in team fight

power mesmer is still a problem as b4

all other class with condi cleanse stay as b4

and as mention earlier we got condi nerf while other got buff from 1 stack of burning/poison/bleeding to 2 stacks we have stayed the same

with chrono line i think we will be better

condi cleanse is a must with all the burning stacking even if it 1k dps it hurts . thus only torch cleanse is not enough

so here are my thoughts (pvp)

1. before condi damage change my staff AA burning was 800 and now nerfed to 360 (cannot stack to do higher dmg)
2. same to poison
3. before patch i could stack 12-18 torment 1v1 , and after basically the same 15-18 but with lower dmg now
4. ip for condi is nice for f4 mainly and not f1-f3 as i dont rush all the time to melee range. if i have 3 clones up and i am in range i dont take the chance some of them will killed if i try to come melee so i shatter

dmg overall is the same regarding time to kill npc (which dont dodge, block, cleanse etc)

mimic + MI is nice for faster burst but loosing condi cleanse which is very needed these days

i will edit if more will come

Yeah, at least let it play out.
I will completely lose faith in the balance team if they base their balance on how hard you can beat down a golem.

They do. That’s why they nerfed the new Mental Torment to 30% on opponents now using skills down from 50%. They literally said on the stream “We tested this on some golems and it was a bit too strong”.

i can do 18 stacks of torment on actual dd ele player – did he die in 5 sec? – NO he cleanse, block, dodge, cleanse, cleanse so 1 min fight – its not OP common

i am so kittensss off and i bought the 100$ pre-sale – i want to return in now

You’re absolutely right messiah. 3.1k torment ticks on a stationary target isn’t a thing, not even with the new scaling. The golem is showing mobile tick numbers.

If we get our trait nerfed because the devs don’t know how their own game works, I’m not sure whether I’ll be laughing or crying.

also even with my current build i can do 3k dps with torment so why now to nerf it just becuase ip trait. ip mainly wil be helpful for f4 .
the cleanse abilities i am facing and will be facing is gonna be huge (resistance, warrior immunity, ele etc…) so nothing will be changed in wvw and pvp (maybe only 1v1)

so they push the condi shatter back… far back. but direct dmg get 25% buffed for most classes OK ty.

It’s kind of hilarious what one interrupt can proc if you get all the traits.

- stun (if you daze) – other classes can do the same with more abilities( warrior, ele, thief, engi, necro)
- 3 seconds quickness – ok so what
- 800 damage? – great at least we can do something . hammer warrior does lot more
- 5 seconds weakness – we hardly have any defense so…
- interrupted skill is put on a 15 second recharge - gw1 – this is the most important but very hard to achieve
- recharge 25% of your pistol skills – other class got inherent icd on weapons
- 2 stacks of AoE confusion – hardly notice unless wvw zerging which get cleanse asap
- 2 second immobilize + another condition -* the same as above*
- 5 stacks of might for 10 seconds + another boon – this is how mesmer get boons
- 3 second slow – very important for another interupt

The qq will be strong.

For the extra lulz:

Use continuum shift afterwards and do it again!!! Hahahaha this will be glorious.

so basicaly we need most of those and it will be very hard to achive the interupt chain

as for now i dont see condirupter working as good as lockdown would

the aoe confusion is around your target and not to your target so in pvp it wont benefit much as wvw zerging (which will get cleanse asap)
seize the moment may be fit more to power base build and not condi. condi would be benefit more from lost time for more slow conditions every 3rd crit attack.

for condi shatter i can see 3 builds working for the best in pvp

slow will be proc nicely when interrupt with staff and f3 and also every 3rd crit (rabid amulet)
while maintain clone factory with DE and IR your torment and confusion (with crit) gonna sky rock (each shatter can be 8 stacks – nerf in the horizon…) so f1+f2+f3=> 24 torment stacks+ 16 confusion which is 4.5k torment dps + 1.3k confusion dps + 2k per skill use. thus in 3 sec its total dmg of 17.5k+2k per skill use so lets say 19k
we talking 6.3k dps = OMG

with chorno you can combo even higher with f5 to do all over again the rotation and with mimic and MI

instead of chorno some will go chaos for the chaos shield and 10% condi dmg and PU (not for pvp)
or even domination for vulnerability for +10% condi dmg in average (more group play style)

pretty much gonna check them all and dont forget other classes got buff to so we need to find the most fitting build for condi and dmg alongside group play in pvp

i feel like that the support line will be small nich and the control may be the new thing (dmg and not condi)
the full condi will be kitten hard to play against with 4*2 =8 torment stack with each shatter, 5 sec block form scepter cd , blind, vulnerability, burning, bleed, confusion = we will be the best condi class compare to others

also the ability to stack them higher which now 2 mtd mesmer can work together to apply much higher pressure or even 2 condi class necro and mesmer or engi

one solution for the split dmg regarding pve versus wvw and pvp would be to give a 3% more dmg for each stack of confusion you put

this way a confusion mesmer could do around 8-10 in combo shatter which bring the on skill use dmg with 30% more dmg and while on low stack like 3 the dmg will be the same for the dot perspective

for now it sound like they split the confusion into bleeding which does constant dmg and confusion which proc dmg when using attack skill. while lowering both dmg.
thus ending in nerfing more confusion dmg

confusion must punish for using skill and the punishment must be higher for 8 stack and above and must be longer. as for now the average duration is 4-6 seconds
i take confusion as defensing tool to give me space between enemy attacks. but if thief or ele can ignore it thus the confusion dmg for now is very low.

you want play pve – fine dont take confusion with you . you can proc 20 bleed stack and torment.

i like the concept of torment and confusion. to move or not to move, to attack or not attack. so if confusion will become like more bleed stacks what the point unless they make the punishing for using skill deadlier then now

few left out

i have thief friend who had this problem in pvp so i dueled him 10 times and now i cant bit him

mesmer use thier clones to proc conditions thus you must learn their behavior
1. shatter – they will run to you if you far from them. so 2 options . run further or dodge in their faces. if the mesmer is smart and close to you 130 ft. he will proc fast clones like with MI and shatter so be very careful when you see 2 clones next to each other. also anther best way to prevent shatter is by blind so with d/p use pistol 5 when you see shatter is coming.

d/p can take any mesmer (maybe not PU but wont lose to it) just by using smartly blind field and stealth and few bs or aa)

2. clones condition – staff clone is most dangerous with burning and bleeding. killing 1 wont help you much and mesmer can proc them easily . thus put heavy pressure on the mesmer with daze, stun to make him use his escape utilities and stealth abilities.

so as you see you need more stealth time and more blind field and more patient for the right moment to burst

with good practice you will be in 50% win ratio

on pve i cant comment as i dont play it

wvw and pvp point of view confusion is a condition which make a smart enemy to stop attack only if the stack was above 8-10 and the enemy hp was below 50% . below 8 stack the dmg per attack is about 1k so in average of 4 seconds duration you did 2k dmg which is 500 dps which is very low. so hardly punish the enemy for attacking

i guess as anet didnt want to buff again the dmg which would have doing worng in wvw, they will split it probably to be like a bleeding and punishing for attacking . thus if it will be the same 500dps nothing would changed. if it will be 1k dps then it force the enemy to cleanse or not attacking.

another big buff to conditions is vulnerability . with domination line and good shatters you can get 10-20 stacks which mean your condi dmg is buff y 20%. this change will bring new builds to the table

personally i feel that hybrid guard (carrion is hybrid) has a place in pvp but not in high tier . reason are
1. meta builds have good abilities to sustain conditions
2. condi guard mainly proc burning and can cover it with 2-3 conditions mainly as cover and not dmg (3 bleed , 1 torment and 1 poison )
3. selfish build with no support
4. cannot burst like medi guard

so the hybrid guard is more like dd cele ele but the ele got so many more good stuff

in wvw i like this build concept and i theorycraft better states which result in 2 sec down a thief which surprise me and him, but his thief friend down me after 30 sec as i burn all my utilities

all in all 6,2,6,0,0 work the best with carrion in pvp . i like best flame legion rune which do more dmg and boost your burning duration and power over any other runes.

my guildy friend play with 6,1,6,0,1 with the same result in pvp.

after HoT i dont think hybrid guard will be in a better place as even if we can do 4-5k burning dmg, all classes get more abilities to cleanse . but i really hop hybrid guard will be a thing in the new meta

i am going now with some hybrid build in wvw
got 800 condi dmg and 2400 power with 2500 armor and 190 crit dmg and 30 crit change and 15k hp
burning is 100% duration so i do 1400 dmg every block

same build 6,2,6,0,0 and fro my calculation it gives the best dmg output both condi and direct

now we got a healer support build with revenant along side some shout warrior and dd ele no conditions can be applied effectively plus nice healing from the revenant and dd ele

so why there are conditions with so many condi aoe cleanse?
what are the revenant weakness (he got stability, cc, got conditions control and application, good healing with energy bar)
why the meta wont or will change?

if you want to be “that guy” try running either 2/0/6/0/6 as hybrid shatter mesmer or 0/0/6/2/6 as full condition shatter. Both work amazingly well as a solo roaming build with scepter/torch staff, and require very little skill to play. At the end of the day though, its cheese in its ultimate form. -Priest of Lyssa

Actually, both of those builds are pretty awful. Running shatter builds without DE is a great way to get stomped by anyone competent.

Agreed, you need the extra clones.

In my experience with PvP (not WvW), the problem with condi mesmer is the burst. In a 1v1 fight, you may win. However, this can take upwards of 40-50 seconds. The condis continue to stack on, but there is nothing to close the gap. By the time you have your opponent downed, they’ll have another teammate on you for the 2v1.

The great part about power shatter is the heavy burst and disengage. You can provide that extra damage to down an opponent and move on. You can roam well. You can’t do this with a condi build.

It’s a fun build to play, but you won’t see competitive teams running it because it doesn’t have synergy with other classes (for the reasons mentioned above).

if it takes you 50 sec to down in 1v1 dont engage . like thief hardly engage engi in 1v1 rather going to help in 4v3
the same with condi the aoe pressure is huge if you know how to do it as you can do better aoe dmg than any other condi class or build.
but yes necro give fear to the table, engi gives cc with crates etc.. while mesmer bring some daze and condi pressure

I’m not even that good at thief but I kill the majority of engis within 5s…. and by looking at my bio you can see the tier of pvp I get placed in on occasion ( not normally against the WTS players but I see them enough), it could be just that im better than these engis and at tourny lvls you might have a different experience, I also run a non meta build ( this is a likely factor) but your comment is in accurate to my experience. Are you perhaps referring to the magical crate of “I win that 1v1” or just sayign that winning a 4v3 is more effective?

i am also able to down 1v1 almost every class but some of is gonna take longer. engi i never had 5 sec down , just the block they used is 3 sec so i guess your opponents were not so good. but either way the thief job is not to look for 1v1 rather decap free points and engage in outnumber for faster down and running around decap/cap points for his team

1. LOS is very nice and important – keep it
2. make the supplies channeled interruptable with any attack which cause some mid fights and control to prevent supplies rush
3. archer need to do more dmg and have more hp. as for now ppl ignore them
4. if skritt get attacked it can use his bomb for aoe dmg around 4k. as for now thief just ignore anything and just easy killing them (beside thief any other class does it easily) so make the skritt do dmg . also this make defending more important and attacking more tactical.
5. npc around lord should protect it with aoe and cc. as for now we can ignore and rush lord freely
6. canons – why cant we used them – more defense tactics

my points are that we need more tactics to be involved beside rush lord with skritt . team should choose between 3-4 tactics like defend and offense, deny supplies and offence , full offence etc..

^ Our rating system is exploitable, that’s why builds aren’t moved from testing. There were even multiple votes submitted from the same IP, and basically every voter ignores what rating ranges mean. Letting MtD pass was a mistake that got reverted. Sadly the crew is rather small and has other things to do, so it’ll take a while before anything significant happens. It was done to ensure quality.

About what’s wrong with MtD, I can elaborate on PM as I’ve said like a million times in this thread but not here, as I no longer wish to interact with this forum, if you want something, PM me – I’m only here because people keep calling me out with nonsense.

Tutorials were removed because they had 0 educational value. You are attacking people who can’t distinguish who is the clone and who is the real mes, backpedal cluelessly without even attacking, don’t dodge a single thing and you burn Moas in 1v1 without any reason.

PS – actually I’ve already explained what’s wrong with MtD in my very 1st comment in this thread, but that’s how much people pay attention.

i can agree that toturials dont serve much an long time mesmer player. i got several pm on game to teach and explain the build. also ppl like those vids and most important almost no one puts mtd videos.
so even if you think the enemies were bad (i dont know i play tpvp low mid rank so this is the community) no one say the build is great or meta but it is valid build to play with.

yes the rating system is expoildable and 10 guys cant claim a build deserve to be great or good. thus more build out there shouldnt be great or meta?! (like terrormancer which long time ago left the meta)

at your first claim you basicaly trait it like a pu build . i hardly use stealth and i usualy can contest a point. you say it cant be fought against the cele meta but so as thief, ranger, power mesmer etc…. but as a group you can. imo. but i see you see it at the zerker meta eyes which left the condi out which is true atm.

Maybe I was a bit mad, sorry for that, but it’s frustrating that I wanted get a legit arguement going and you all just jump at my throat because I’m not part of your.. whatever you call it. Most of you won’t read what I comment yet will keep responding, but whatever.

I’m fine with you having opinions, but don’t act like your opinion was fact especially if every top player disagrees with you. Notice how you chased off everyone of this forum who had a different opinion than you do despite you being the in-game minority, yet you refuse to be called a cult. I offered a bet, 1 or 2 guys actually participated in the bet, the rest of you just jumped on the bandwagon hating on me and cheering for them, because I dare to point out that you are wrong.

You expect me to give away 100 gold for no reason. Your 3 reasons so far: you don’t know what figurative speech is (and that part isn’t even truly the part of the build), 1 guy pointed out that Blood sucks for mes (checked it, Helseth’s standard S/T build still has blood on it), same guy said Vampirism sucks (vampirism is as close to top tier mesmer meta as it can get). Now, why would i give away 100g if you are wrong? Actually Sadrien, you’ve tried and failed, if I were that guy you’d owe me 100.

i dont know if you control what going on in the metabattle site but its seems its not very objective site

example:
i post there the mtd condi shatter with explanation and toturial and tpvp fights (not hotjoins)
the build score 4 by the community which is good and yet back and forth this build came out to the testing area because 1 guy think helseth is the aproval of any mesmer build with out any explenation what so ever.

you make the rules and clearly the site dont pose them . so its preety much abvios you dont want it to be at all as a mesmer build. so tell me how can i make any conversation with you

i know that condi necro is in a bad spot atm as his conditions preety much slow proc versus other condi classes.
i know fear is good condi/cc but again hammer warriro can stun better or even engi which all left us out of the meta composition.

i try to come up with new role for the terrormancer which is weakness and poison. these 2 conditions can negate dmg and healing abilities
i tried it on tpvp with my guildies to perma weakness and poison my enemies while fear them in the right moment . the enemy drop like a flies while we could sustain longer
we observe that on warrior my weakness duration was about 3 sec betwean his cleanse which force him to cleasne and play defense.
thieves just didnt do dmg and force to SR and stealth
mesmer we ignore him with wekness on him
engi we burst with fear chain and poison around him so no res for him

i went 4,4,0,0,6 with stability (fotg) with 5 weakness abilities dagger 5, trait with go DS , curroption field, signet, and currpot boon (when they get might)

as stae above i wish i could have more abilities to build life force beside staff spamming

i have played mtd long time ago even before the buff testing in in almost every aspect of the wvw and pvp gamemodes

  • Damage, both single target and AoE – 1v1 is the best , regarding aoe with some torment sigil and shatter at the right moment like when enemy down or group tigh together can do wonder with pressure. but not so many aoe dmg for the mesmer. if you know how to play staff clones and spread them its also nice pressure to 1-2 enemies with burning and bleeding and torment for few seconds.
    most of the meta builds are keyboard spamming so confusion will punish them for that like dd ele , engi, warrior thief. so good one will cleanse or stop attacking you or your team. same goes with 5 and above torment stacking
    average dmg from 1 shatter is 1k confusion and 1k torment for 1-3 sec = 2k-6k dmg
    average staff AA is 1k dps
    full combo abilities for 3 sec is about 10k-15k dmg
  • Contesting – more easy to contest if you know how to play without stealth abusing as enemy will try no to stand around you or they will get punished
  • Survivability – with 2.6 armor , block, blink you are fine if not been outmaned by zerker classes like thief
  • Team utility – none but you take out enemy utilities fast and erlier in the fight giving your team some advantage.
  • Mobility – with traveler you can do fine but hardly needed as its not your role to bounce from point to point.
  • group composition – to be good at condition class you must have the right composition. you need 2-3 zerk class , 1-2 sustain like warrior . you should play with the warrior/guardian who can assist you with condi cleanse and boons while you shatter around him.
  • Role – point holder close/far and assist mid. play with warrior/ guardian as you can do even 2v3 on point long enough for your team winning in 3v2 and come to help if needed. harras Ranger, thief, ele, mesmer and guardian. 1 block with scpeter can push the thief to go SR giving your team few seconds of outnumberd fight. pressure the ele to be on water attunment for the cleanse and not doing dmg, pressure the guard to use his cleanse and utilities. dont try to burst in group fight as you can burn your utilities and shatter. your job is to harras in group fight as they can cleanse so you want the enemy to be focus on defense and not offense. when they go offense shatter and kill with your team. 1v1 just kill
  • Counter – condi dmg, immobilize (panice strike), cc (no ip – yet) and condi cleanse like shout warrior working with ele and range burst like ranger and power shatter with gs.
