The issue with the FX 6300, and the entire FX series was the architecture change. The Phenoms had 1 logic processor per core, the FX series has 2. IE: the six cores are 3 physical cores with 6 logic processors. AMD finally acknowledged this and many other flaws in the Bulldozer design, and supposedly are moving away from it with the Zen cpus coming out in 2016/2017.

As for the FPS you are getting, it is about the normal with that CPU setup. One thing I will tell you, the 970 chipset isn’t that great for the FX 6300…my previous build was the 970 Extreme 3 and it’d blue screen when I tried to OC the CPU or even use Turbo.

Some ALT+Tab issues are Windows 10 based…ie: ALT+Tab = screen flicker then returning to GW2. From my understanding these are being worked on and should have an update to correct them.

I tested out the Reaper over the weekend and loved it. My Necro runs with siphon wells and it works great with the reaper. My build was Spite: 2/6/7, Blood: 3/6/7, Reaper: 2/4/8. Although I did not play much of the new HoT map, I did take this character to areas I was familiar with and thoroughly enjoyed the chaos this spec brought out.

The only other class I tested was the Revenant. The entire play-style of this class is different from anything we have on the table. That is great in my opinion, but takes some getting used to. I know a lot of work has been put into this class and I look forward to the end result.

All in all, HoT will be completely worth the wait.

Could we have you take a shot of CPUID and GPUZ with Guild Wars 2 running. The ones you posted seem to show nothing running and both CPU and GPU in low power state.

I have to laugh at the OP here for a moment. His post actually points out more flaws of the subscription system than anything. Not to mention, most (if not all) sub based games will still charge you between $40-$60 for their expansions on top of the $15/mo.

As for those saying they prefer a sub based system…well, if they have $15/mo to shell out from their pockets (or their parents’ pockets) all the power to them.

That would be dumb. That horn was so big it had to be carved into a mountainside, and weighted more than an entire tavern of norns (walls, roof and beer included).

Actually, the Stormcaller mouthpiece is a HoM skin. As for the remains of Stormcaller, most of it can be located in the Black Citadel. However, I believe what was being referred to was the power of Stormcaller, although its full power was never truly revealed.

I run a LB – S/D – Shout/Survival ranger. I keep seeing threads popping up about people having trouble with their ranger and can only wonder, what exactly are they doing to have this trouble.

My pet can tank a champ like a boss, I can sit back and range it down. But then, I have always enjoyed being a LB sniper, so guess it all goes with personal play style.

At first I was hoping for a sword for ele, mainly because I love to melee…but, as stated…just about everyone gets a sword. Furthermore, the warhorn is, to this point, a bit underwhelming. Perhaps the Temptest can fix this.

I would like to leave my feedback here as well.

Stronghold:
Once I noticed the options for PVP ques I was very happy. Stronghold maps, in my opinion, grant a more interactive setting than simple ‘cap and kill’ conquest maps. Overall I find it more fun than chasing people around just to kill them. It requires more strategy.

Revenant:
Overall the class feels pretty good. I tested out the current weapon options: Hammer, Staff, Mace/Axe, and I liked the diversity between them. It was interesting getting used to the utility skill differences between the stances, but I think it is on the right track. Knowing that it is not complete yet, I will say that this class may be one of the most interesting to play upon completion.

Beta Weekend Overall:
Yeah this was the fun part. I watched the forums to see all of those players who tossed tons of exotics into the forge and finally got their precursor only to learn they couldn’t keep it. I found this kind of interesting, but the fact ArenaNet’s devs made it so we can play the new class in the complete game was beyond amazing.

I can hardly wait for the next BWE.

As odd as it sounds it could be a setting issue with the GPU. IE: If those experiencing this issue are running Nvidia cards, it may be a setting in the control panel, or if using AMD cards, a setting in the CCC. But as stated above, it is harder to determine without knowing the hardware / drivers in use.

May we get your system specs. It may be something with your hardware or settings. Some video cards can cause this. Also, though it may or may not help, you will want to make sure you have Java and Flash up to date. I can’t remember if the launcher uses those or not, I know some do.

If you put anything from your beta character into the bank it will not stay. The same goes for anything you sell on your beta character, your main account will stay at the same cash/karma amount. However, if you pull anything from your bank to your beta character, there is the chance it may become beta locked, however this should not be the case as the beta character makes a copy of your live account to use.

Also note that if you are able to do the beta weekend there is a Create Beta button next to the standard Create button.

I believe this is in preparation for the way guilds earn favor. Rep is going to become a currency for earning favor, and if I am not mistaken, will be removed or changed after Guild Favor goes live.

If anything there are 2 traits that were lost from the SA line: Infusion of Shadow – gain 2 initiative when entering stealth and Hidden Assassin – gain Might x2 15s per pulse in stealth. These two combined made a stealth thief feel like a true assassin while running SR, or even when using C&D. I miss them.

I will say this, if the only reason you bought the Ultimate Edition was for the character slot, why did you not buy the Deluxe Edition instead? In included everything except the 4000 gems (which in essence you paid $25 instead of their normal $50).

Also your arguments that you are “paying” for the second character slot is completely invalid as it is included only for those who registered the game on or before 23 January 2015. In truth you could have bought the standard edition and paid $10 for the 800 necessary gems to get a 9th character slot (thus spending $60), however, you chose to buy the Ultimate Edition on your own, thus your grievance should be with yourself.

I will say that giving you the 800 gems for the additional character slot is a nice move by ArenaNet.

I will admit, just watched the video on the opening of New Lions Arch…I cried a little. Its so awesome.

Personally I am looking forward to the change. Compared to last year’s changes, the new system appears to be much more efficient than telling a level 31 to “Go Kill Ulgoth for a blue trait” or “Map this level 60 are for a blue trait”. Essentially I believe that ArenaNet will do their best at ensure we keep the skills we have unlocked as best possible, however, some skills and traits may be the exception. IE: If you have a lvl 30 with an unlocked elite but did not unlock any other skills in the tree, you may lose that elite.

Also, skill points will be come spirit shards, a new currency form for Mystic Forge stuff and other purposes as well. But, as with all things, we will have to wait and see how the implementation goes.

When Guild Wars 2 preorders went live I reserved my copy of the Collectors Edition immediately. I’m debating on which version to pick up with HoT, still somewhat disappointed with the lack of a CE. I was hoping that ArenaNet would ultimately release all of Destiny’s Edge statues as they started with Rytlock. The Deluxe has only a so-so appeal as I have character slots available and I’m not really crazy on the whole ‘got to collect em all’ thing with minis or special skins.

I do see where other vet player’s are coming from with the whole pricing and inclusion of the base game with HoT thing, a similar issue happened when they launched the Heroic Edition with those who bought the Deluxe or Collectors Editions as we did not get any of those items (unless we got into the recent HoT betas that is).

Anyway, the only thing I think could make the base HoT a little better for prepurchase would be to add a choice of the following: Character Slot, Mini Rev Rytlock, Glider Skin, Rev Finisher. You could pick which of these you want. Or just putting a Character Slot onto it…that would work too.

32 @ Claw & 41 @ FE…that’s not low fps. Many players, including myself, are lucky to see 20fps at either of those events.

The one question though is what do you get fps wise during the event? If 5-10, that is sadly the norm. If 10-15, that’s good, if 15+ you are doing great.

I tried to run a spirit range once or twice. The issue I found was that 1) spirits do not last long enough and 2) some of them have very crappy passives.

Water Spirit: its ok

Frost Spirit: 10% dmg buff is not worth it — chill w/ dmg would be better

Stone Spirit: Protection is kinda meh by itself…add a chance to bleed or cripple

Storm Spirit: Swiftness = useless in combat imo … add blind, vulnerability, or even stun

Sun Spirit: Burning is good, will be better once it stacks

Spirit of Nature: Again life span vs recharge is horrible atm, that’s about all that’s wrong with this one.

I agree that Spirits Unbound is a great trait, instead of getting rid of it, tie it to the other spirit traits. I think that if the spirits get a rework for their passives and a little boost to their activation we could see them become very viable to a ranger build.

I got Rodgort’s Flame from the Ancient Karka event. At the time it sold for 13g. A month later it was selling for 50g. I have never seen a precursor drop since.

You should be able to get good fps in most events. However, major zergs will drop you fps to sub 15. Most likely looking at 40+ or so the rest of the time, depending on settings of course.

First screenshot says it all, your card is running x1. Pull it and put it back in. Double check to make sure it is in a full x16 slot.

My greatest suggestion on any class, is once you leave the starting area into Tyria, you can always hop over to the mists (PVP). You do not have to participate in any matches, but can get a feel of the skills, traits, weapons and what not for your selected class. There are NPC golems all over to be pounded on, so you can find which class fits your play style.

The reasoning behind me saying driver issue would be a faulty reading on the software side which could easily initiate a fail-safe shutdown.

Another idea would be to pull the GPUs out and blow out the fans and heatsinks to make sure there isn’t any residual dust built up.

Which AMD drivers are you using? Also what chipset drivers are you using?

Depending on if it is a driver error or not causing the fans not to accelerate properly the best bypass is to open the CCC and go down to Overdrive. Here you will be able to select and set your GPU’s fan speed manually.

Also the reason I am thinking driver error, is I run an AMD setup and my card never passes 40C…I built a friend a similar build with a R9 280x and his is about like mine temp wise.

Another possibility would be a faulty thermal sensor, but as it does not show the same trouble in other games I would doubt it.

A few questions:

1) GPU driver # → I recommend the 14.12 Omega set as the Beta or earlier can be finicky with the R9 290.

2) CPU model

3) Chipset driver version → latest one from Asus is the 10.0.20

4) OS

5) PSU wattage

One other thing you can do is download CPUID and GPUz. Open the both and then start up Guild Wars 2. ALT+TAB to windowed mode, overlap the two with GW2 and screenshot the results. On GPUz you should see x16 3.0 – x16 3.0 when the game is running. The first set is what the card should run at, the second is what it is actually running at. CPUID will well to take a peak at your CPU, Chipset, and Memory.

Hopefully with more info we help you work out the kinks during gameplay.

Razah was a Rit in GW1. He was intended to be able to change his beforehand, however this was removed.

Depending on when you are looking at getting this system I would say the next series of AMD APUs, the Carrizo, would be a good option. They launch in China in the next month or so, then US/Internation a month later. The A10 will have R5 250 GPU and a core clock of up to 4.0Ghz. Supposedly it will also support multi-threading (though I may be confusing this part with the Zen chip coming next year).

A few contradictions to the OP’s post:

1) Metas: not everyone runs zerker…in fact I run Celestial, Cleric’s, or Magi’s depending on my character.

2) Corner stacking: This was fixed with most locations, especially dungeons like Ascalon. The trick was to stack so certain attacks you not hit you as intended…now, if you corner stack with, say the spider queen, you are just going to wipe when she does her aoe.

3) Glitches…they happen…report them via the bug panel and they’ll get worked on eventually. I cannot remember a single game I’ve played that didn’t have a glitch or two.

4) Exploiting…as defined it is “abusing a bug or error, or misusing the system for a purpose other than what is it intended for”…you say Lupi + reflects is an exploit…well, if I am not mistaken the attack you are referring to is his projectile. Reflections reflect projectiles, thus such is as intended and not an exploit.

My overall opinion is, like any game, people will take a break from GW2 when they feel burnt out…I took a 3-4 month break to play Star Trek Online during the Delta Rising pre-event and launch, and to take a shot at Diablo 3. I learned back in 2003/2004 that playing one game and only one game for too long gets boring no matter what you try to do. It isn’t the game, it is just human nature…as humans we need variety to keep our minds active.

With HoT coming out and the changes with the specialization system I’d say ArenaNet has been working on trying to give what the player base has been calling for. However, some changes are not always as great as they are intended to be (NPE I’m looking at you)…I think the developers are doing their best. One major thing to remember is companies like Blizzard have thousands working on WoW…ArenaNet does not have a huge staff, but the team they have on hand have made two incredible games with features that rival those other companies’ pet projects.

If the 20fps you refer to is during massive zergs then you are getting good fps. The standard for most players is around 10 during these types of fights.

One option to look at is the Player level and Player detail levels…also Reflections (for these set to Terrain/Sky if it is currently set to All).

Items like that you must 1) still have and 2) have unequipped – right click – select Unlock Skin.

If you no longer have the item or an item skinned with it you cannot unlock it.

Also, what CPU do you have. GW2 is more CPU than GPU, thus a weak CPU will bring lower FPS regardless of what GPU you use.

Necros may not get love when it comes to minions, or wells, or just about anything…but this…this makes up for it.

From the information released during the 4hr specialization ready-up they did say that baseline stats are getting a boost to compensate for the loss of trait-stats.

As for requesting anything prior to the actual change, yes it is very premature as a lot can and most likely will change while the specialization system is in development. IE: Say they give a baseline change that would give us the equivalent of a max trait line after they refund your armor and mats and you go and make something else…then you would be here on the forums again demanding another refund because you just couldn’t wait.

You’ll need to open a ticket through the Support option. Most likely what has happened is a false flag or something of the sort. Customer Support does take a while to review any suspensions though, and a few things that will help expedite the process will be to include your email, character name, and serial number for the game…not here of course. As a forewarning, only open one ticket and see it through as it may take a week or so to correct. Sometimes less depending on the circumstances of the suspension.

Are you running a 990fx or a 970 motherboard? I run a similar setup, spec link in sig, but at 1080p. Roaming pve I get up to 50-60fps, but in zergs I get sub 10. My settings below:

I am running the Omega Drivers for both chipset and GPU (14.12).

Another thing to check is to boot up GPUZ and Guild Wars 2, then ALT+TAB to window mode to see if your 280x is reading as x16 PCIE 2.0 or below x16. If below, shutdown your pc and reseat your GPU.

Also run CPUID to check your temps on your CPU, GPUZ to check temps on GPU.

2) What drivers are you using?
3) What PSU wattage do you have?

Blue screening could be an under-powered card, faulty pcie slot, loose card, or a board issue. A lot of things to take into account. One thing to check, download CPUID and start it up, then open GW2 and use ALT+TAB to swap to window mode. If the card reads anything less than x16 it could be the card needs to be reseated.

As for a critical driver error, that one is sometimes due to a bad install. Try to uninstall your current drivers and install fresh ones. The Omega 14.12s are pretty decent from what I have found with my 270×.

I must be an exception to the rules. I’ve played since the first BWE. I took a few months off to mess around in STO again, but realized that that game is heading down the tubes. GW2 has nothing on what they did there…making it so you have to complete “optional” objectives or fail entire missions lol…no so optional at that point.

Anywho, last night I realized something…even after all these years playing I am still finding new things I never came across…ie: a shortcut in dredgehaunt cliffs between Mantelet Refuge and the vista over the dredge camp. I know, something simple right? I will admit the NPE limitations that they added are nuts…I mean, having to kill Ulgoth for a blue trait, making the personal story time-gated through level…that kind of stuff. They are working on the traits and all through the new specialization system, but the PSE needs to be reverted back to non level gated.

But all in all, I still enjoy map completion, events, and working towards that next ‘shiny’. Still debating on Wings of Dwayna or Azureflame for my ranger….

It’ll depend on what email provider you used. Yahoo, I found, is horrible for outright blocking emails from Guild Wars, ArenaNet, and others. Switched to Gmail, no issues at all.

I got Guild Wars back in 2005, own every expansion and I love it. I got Guild Wars 2 CE in 2012, preordered it as soon as Game Stop would let me in 2010/2011 I think. Do I love it? Yes, yes I do. Are there things I would like to see added or changed, yes. GW2 was always meant to be distant from the original, mainly because the original became bloated with skills, many of which had 2-3 versions of the same thing. Guild Wars 2 makes you think more to survive, you have to constantly learn and evolve your build to meet the fight.
