The best way to ensure Core Parking is off is by pressing the Windows Key + R, type regedit, Click Edit → Find → 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583. Search this key and make sure ValueMin and ValueMax are both set to 0. Press F3 to find the next batch – rinse & repeat until you reach the end.
I have about the same setup, FX 6300 – 8G RAM – XFX R9 270x – ASRock 990FX board, and I pull up to 70 FPS PVE world depending on the map and population. LA does dip to around 30-35 FPS norm, 20-25 heavily populated. SW and DT – 40FPS most of the time.

One thing to check as well, are any of your cores parked? Windows loves parking cores, which prevents full utilization until a certain threshold is reached.
To check bring up your task manager → (click More Details if Win → Performance → Open Resource Monitor → CPU and scroll down. If any are labeled as Parked, you can fix it by doing the following:
1) press the windows key + r
2) type regedit
3) click Edit → Find
4) search for the code 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583
5) make sure both Min and Max values are 0
6) press F3
7) repeat step 5 & 6 until it says “end of list” or whatever
8) close and reboot
First off I will say I am by no means an avid PVPer. I started PVP stuff mostly due to the dailies and reward tracks. Same with WvW. With that I have found a few things I’d like to suggest on the current PVP structure.
1) Ques:
This topic is almost the “dead horse” of the game in PVP standards. Currently we have 3 que options: Custom Arena / Unranked / Ranked. This is a bit of a blah. In Guild Wars we had multiple modes of PvP: Hall of Hero’s, Codex Arena, Team Arena, Random Arena, GvG. In GW2 we do have multiple modes, however, we do not have any freedom or options except for map select as to which type of mode we play.
The suggestion: Keep the overall Custom / Unranked / Ranked option which is followed by Conquest (cap & hold) / Stronghold / Death Match. With this suggestion I would add a new death match map…the Courtyard is fun and all but we need a little variety.
2) Summon Pets:
With this I mean consumables that summon pets. Yes I have seen players use these. When I watch a team spill out of their base near the start of the game with Rock Dogs following…there is a problem. I know the runes work, those are no big. But 5 players summoning rock dogs leads to an unbalanced match. Add in a necro who’s minions work for some odd reason (you are supposed to laugh) or an ele with 2 summons up, an engi with full turret loads, or even a ranger with their pet out…we start looking at a one sided fight for about 5 minutes, give or take if the rock dog is killed.
Suggestion: block them from use.
Now for individual map ideas:
Foefire: Guards for the lords are about right, lords however can heal for up to 75% of their health. I have on multiple occasions brought a lord down to 20% health only to have it heal back to 100%….rinse-repeat-it gets old. Please adjust.
Kyhlo: Pretty good as it is.
Forest: Svanir can beat down a single player in seconds, the Chief is the opposite. They make for an interesting fight, but should be tweaked a little. The Chief should get a little more umph, Svanir is actually really nice where he’s at.
Skyhammer: This is an odd map. If you own the gun and can keep it, you can easily take the game.
Silent Storm: Fun map, fine as it is.
Courtyard: Great death match battle ground. However, not everyone wants to play a map where the objective is only to kill people.
Spiritwatch: There are a lot of people who despise this map. I have not yet figured it out because I love it. If anything I would say that the orb carrying could use some fine tuning. Currently once you have it you move very very slow, and I think that is what gets on people’s nerves. Maybe a small increase in speed where you move slower than normal, but faster than you do at the moment.
Stronghold: Even though we only got to beta test it for one day I see a lot of potential for this map and those like it. However, I find that all guards are easy targets and fairly weak. Even the lord was weak compared to the ones in Foefire. So my suggestions here are to 1) up the guard defense and offense 2) up the lord defense and offense 3) make the supply depot similar to supply camps in wvw where you cap the point and guards appear to defend it for your team. Also having some miscellaneous objectives to either boost your team (swiftness, might, fury, or regen for a set time) or hinder your enemies (traps appear that damage enemies).
All in all sPVP is okay and I’ve grown to enjoy it. I would love to see some improvements introduced over time to make it even better.
Blasting staff does not increase the AOE overall target size, but instead the size of the attacks within the ring. IE: meteor shower…each blast has a larger blast zone when traited than when not.
It is a known bug that some players are ending up invisible to their opponents, however it is not an intentional one.
Furthermore – you will want to edit and remove any other player names from your screenshots as it is considered ‘name shaming’ and against the TOS.
I only have a 10-15 ping. Using Charter, hardwired, paying for 60Mbs getting over 70. I guess the best part is they have set up fiber in my area.

Timeframe: 2 weeks ago Friday the 6th to be exact
Server: Used to be on Northern Shiverpeaks now on Fort Aspenwood and the problem is still there.
Game settings: does it matter? i’m talking about network latency.
PC specs: How does this influnce anything? Also, I took the speedtest thingy and it says my ping should be around 30-40ms.
Game settings: They matter depending on your hardware. Setting some settings too high will affect gameplay dramatically.
PC Specs: A lot. If your CPU, Memory, or GPU are experiencing issues of any kind, it will be noticeable in game. Same with the network card and/or modem being overloaded with packets. Latency takes a hit if there is leftover trash in the system. I suggest CCleaner to clean those up easily.
If speedtest shows you have a ping that high there may be a hardware issue somewhere. But again, this depends on your ISP and the speed you are getting.

A few things we need:
Time Frame when it happens
Server (to see if others have it)
Game Settings
PC Specs
Other than that the only option I can say is to go into your Network Adapter settings, select the adapter you are using, right click & disable it. Then unplug your modem (and router if you have one) and count to ten. Plug the modem (and router up) and double click your adapter to enable it. This will purge leftover packets from both your NIC and Modem. Also, if you do not have it, I suggest downloading CCleaner from piriform.com. You can set it to clean all temp junk files that build over time.
I mention these last parts because junk packets and files will slow down your system and connection. Also you may want to run a speed test at speedtest.net to validate you are getting the connection you are paying for.
I played Guild Wars since July 2005. The thing that attracted me most there can be found in Guild Wars 2 as well….the lore. To me a game is only as good as the story behind it.
Another thing is being able to play the way I want to play. Sure looking up other people’s builds to help perfect your own is fun, but nothing beats doing it yourself in the long run.
The look of the game is the third thing. I started gaming with Diablo 2 back in 2001/2002. From there moved on to my first MMO, Everquest and Everquest 2. I’ve played many since, including WoW, Shaiya, Last Chaos, Sword of the New World (Granado Espada), and Star Wars ToR. They all have their own look and feel, but Guild Wars 2 is just so much more alive.
I hate to say it but on a laptop those are about the normal FPS rates you can look to get. Even some mid-range desktops struggle to get those numbers.
My need to tweak your settings a little on your GPU.
AA – you can set to off or application specified
Morphological – off
AF – off or app specified
Vertical Sync – your choice…on gets rid of the tearing
In game:
Reflections: Sky & Terrain, or lower – all does reflections underground and will rob your performance
Character Limit – Medium or lower
Character Quality – Medium or lower
Also, when you experience the lower FPS are you around a lot of other players? When you get more than 15 players on a screen, depending on settings, you will take a hit in your FPS.
If you are using Vista, 7, 8 or 8.1 my suggestion is to go to microsoft.com and download the latest DX 9 package and install it. I had this issue with my 6870 in other games, but after installing the DX9 package it was fixed.
Alright I’ve read through and I want to offer up some suggestions:
1) If you want a legendary for stats, but not for looks that is perfectly okay since we have the wardrobe system. You can work towards your legendary, craft it, and change the appearance to a skin you like.
2) With that comes #2 – some karma gear has nice appearance, you can buy the look you want with the karma, and put the skin on your current equipment if you do not like how it looks.
3) Minis – when you character turns 1 you get Queen Jennah. Others, as stated above, are acquired via the Black Lion Trading Post – either by purchasing with Gems, using Black Lion Chests, or you can buy them from other players. You can also get some as rare drops in areas like Silverwastes from the Bandit Chests or buy them with crests.
4) World Completion nets decent gear, sometimes really nice stuff, that can be sold for a good amount.
5) Guilds. If you are not in one, you may want to find one. Especially an active one. Guilds can do Bounty Missions and other Events that allow you to get Guild Crests that you can buy nice items with.
6) PVP – your equipped gear means nothing. You have the Helm Icon at the top center of your HUD. You go here to select your PVP traits and equipment, sigils, and all.
7) WvW – your open world PVP…kinda. Here you can join up with the massive group of other players from your world in an all out conquest to capture and protect towers, supply camps, and your keeps. You can also unlock ranks and acquire armors and weapons with nice stats for Badges of Honor and Karma.
8) Meta Events…even the lowest level zones have these. They include World Boss events as well, which for a lvl 80 can drop nice gear.
If you ever find yourself bored with any of this…just wonder around the world fighting monsters and getting loot. That’s always fun.
If you are planning on OCing that CPU, liquid is good. However, the Pentium produces less heat overall than the i5/i7 CPUs, so air is still good. GPU wise, the R5 is the lowest end of the spectrum. You will get ok performance on low / low-med graphics.
As stated above by Razzafrazza, GW2 has crappy multi-core functionality at this time. It focuses on single thread instructions, 3 to be exact. So a dual core is ok. I would suggest going with a slightly better GPU, at least an r7 or even an r9 260×. Also I would recommend, just for safety, at least a 600w PSU. 400w would cut too close overall from what I can see.
Another thing is if you do not want to build a PC yourself, but are looking for something in a $400-600 range, some of the ‘named’ systems are pretty decent these days.
FYI, I’m running an R9 270×. Still pretty good price/performance ratio.
That it is.

Hello, first off, my specs:
FX 6300 (turbo on) – Antec Khuler 620
8GB DDR3 1600 AMD Radeon
Asrock 970 Extreme 3
XFX R9 270x
XFX 750w PSU
2x Samsung EVO 840 SSD
Thermaltake Overseer w/ 4x 200mm fans, 1x 140mm fan
Windows 7
I have run HW Monitor and have noticed no spikes in heat, CPU taps about 75% load all cores – 35* C is the highest I’ve ever seen it go. My 270x taps around 50*C around 60% load — my case moves a ton of air.
The issue happens at odd times while either playing Guild Wars 2 or watching YouTube full screen for more than 40 minutes at a time. At first I chalked it up to a driver – flash compatibility issue, turned off Hardware Acceleration, updated both, but the issue remains. What happens is everything on the screen freezes, my keyboard leds remain lit but there is no input reception. Also my speakers emit a high pitched buzzing noise until I manually shut off my computer and turn it back on. I have had this issue in the past with my previous build ~ Asrock 770 mb w/ Phenom II x4 3GHz cpu, Ultra X3 600w psu ~ but since I have replaced all hardware I still cannot pinpoint the exact cause.
I can say I have confirmed it happens more if I use the X-Boost on my motherboard, but have yet to test without turbo boost enabled. Could it be the 4+1 phase power control is unable to properly turbo my CPU effectively?
Thanks for input.
Stronghold will be a bit of both. sPVP wise you can join into a random Stronghold or with a group of friends. GvG wise, you can take a full group of guildmates in and be ‘tracked’ on the Guild Leaderboards for Stronghold.
Speculation wise I believe that with the first or second major Feature Pack after HoT goes live we may get more in depth variants of the Stronghold feature.
From this it sounds like your integrated gpu on your cpu is taking over. It happens sometimes on intel based systems.
I run a Yamaha 5.1 surround via HDMI from my R9 270x and I get accurate surround. It is mostly controlled through the windows configuration. I will say that through my old Sound Blaster Recon 3D it was not as good, so it may be that my Yamaha system can distribute the sound better than my old 5.1 PC speakers could.
You mean like this…note the pic
You may want to try repairing your client.
Just curious, what GPU are you currently using?

Pentium Dual Core E5300 3GHZ Overclocked
Sadly, there is your problem. Guild Wars 2 is extremely CPU heavy. The E5300 Pentium is a lower end CPU and has a harder time processing than some of the newer ones. I will tell you though, I am running a FX 6300 @ 3.7GHz and it depends on where I am as to what FPS I get. The game is playable at lower FPS, and the worst spots to get the lowest FPS are in the middle of world boss events.
Most guild missions are on lvl 15+ maps. No megaserver on those.
Most guild bounties are on lvl 15+ areas which are not on the megaserver.
AreanaNet knows of this, they have commented that a fix is in works in the API Forums as the change was unintentionally caused by the implementation of the Wardrobe. Hopefully should see a fix for this in the upcoming week or so.
I do want to state that as of now only level 1-15 areas, the PVP lobby, and main cities are on the Mega Server. Most Guild Missions are in 15+ areas which are not. That means you’re getting the old system with overflows in these areas.
I still wish they’d add the “Heroic Stuff” for those of us who got the CE.
I believe the idea of the BLC is okay, however it needs a major overhaul.
Currently you get 3-4 drops out of the box, sometimes more depending on LS events. Items that are practically useless tend to be very common drops, ie Mysterious Tonics. You also get various boosters, which need some work as well to make them more useful and more appealing. And then there are the minis, dye packs, makeover kits, hairstyle kits, and tickets and scraps. These are the semi rare items. Then there are the Permanent items which are super rare.
So here’s my proposal to a fix:
1) guarantee 1-2 items drawn from boosters, repair kits, tonics, bank access, TP summons, BL Merchant summon
2) guarantee 1-2 items drawn from transmute charges, dye kits, scraps, makeover kits, hairstyle kits
3) 50% chance at 1-2 items drawn from BL Ticket, minis, etc
4) 5-25% chance of 1 item of ultra rare value
Also with this reduce cost of Scrap to Ticket conversion to 5, thus reducing cost from ~ $25 / skin to ~ $10 / skin.
Any thoughts?
Use stability?
Her knockback now removes Stability.
Looking at that “butterfly” it looks almost like a Largos which would hint underwater. But we’ll find out more on 18 March I think with the finale event or whatever it is.
They say people will see what they want to see, no matter what you show them.
On a seperate note, Orr will now be totally forgotten.
Exactly. Its like a rorschach test almost. Either way, we got a Dragon and maybe a PS part 2. Either way they do it, I hope they add the ability to replay moments from both outside of the Fractals that is.
It has been tested and confirmed you only need the blue Spinal Blade back to take the shortcut.
Looking at that “butterfly” it looks almost like a Largos which would hint underwater. But we’ll find out more on 18 March I think with the finale event or whatever it is.
The 1 BLCT price ends with the next update. Most likely they will increase to 5 BLCTs each afterwards, based on previous skins. They could only go up to 3 though.
L.A's Downfall. Feelings? (Survey)
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: moonstarmac.4603
I too have a fourth opinion, compared to those given.
Lions Arch is a beacon of survival. It survived the Charr, the White Mantle, and even the rise of Zhaithan and his horde of undead. So too shall it survive Scarlet Briar. It has been beaten, but never broken. True that pirates rebuilt Lions Arch, but they did so to create a safe haven, a place where all can come to be free. Throughout the ages it has been a beacon of hope, a place to rally when the going gets rough, as it has now.
I feel that once the smoke has cleared, new leadership will rise and Lions Arch will rise again with a new look and an even more powerful stance to crush all who threaten Tyria.
Overall you will not get that 40-50 fps a majority of the time with an AMD CPU. Even my FX 6300 6 core @ 4GHz only gets about 20 FPS. AMD just has a really weak single core performance, and this game relies heavily on CPU single core performance.
Sadly the Phenom II series, along with just about every AMD CPU on the market, has poor performance in GW2 overall. But to actually try to pin point your problem we could use some extra information.
CPU we have as a Phenom II x6, GPU Nvidia GTX 660TI.
We need RAM & amount and OS as well.
Also a trick to try out is found here https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client . This will allow you to repair the client.
AMD + GW2 - My Experience and Video upgrade Q
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: moonstarmac.4603
Hello everyone. To start off I have been seeing many posts involving players with FPS issues. Most of these players are running AMD builds, like myself.
My Build:
FX 6300 @ 4GHz (Turbo) cooled by an Antec Khuler H20
ASRock 970 Extreme 3 Motherboard
8 GB AMD Radeon DDR3 1600
Sapphire 6870 1GB
Ultra X3 600w
Antec DF 85 Full Tower
I post up front so others can compare. I have about the same issue as everyone else in the FPS department, though my sometimes come out a little higher.
AMD sadly lacks strong support in single thread design. GW2 requires a decently strong single thread design to run high FPS. I’ve found that some settings and build factors fall into play. The five most noticeable setting factors I’ve found are: Shadows, AF, Reflections, PC Count, PC quality. Lowering these does give a small boost overall. I run High on most settings, Medium on Shadows, AF on (app control on my GPU), Reflections on, PC Count Medium to High, PC Quality High.
Results:
Lions Arch (no festival) 15-30 FPS
Lions Arch (festival) 10 – 20 FPS
Wandering around (no zerg) upwards of 50-60 FPS
Wandering around (with zerg) 10 – 30 FPS depending on zerg size
My CPU has turbo enabled tapping it up to 3.8~4 GHz with no issues. I am going to attempt to push it as far as 4.5 GHz as I have liquid cooling. It also helps I have 4x 120mm fans intake, 1x 120mm out and 2x 140mm out. My case and system stays cold. My CPU at 4GHz, load, never tops 30C.
So with all of this I have looked at possibly upgrading my video to the r9 270x, my only concern is that it will impact my performance, not only in GW2, but games like EQ2 as well. Any thoughts?
That would be stand alone Windows. No need to return it at all.
You will be able to keep that copy and when your new parts come in, install it on the new build.
phabsmula,
I’ve looked at the specs of what you have and they are not half bad. But as others have mentioned, the single threading for AMD is not anywhere near par with Intel CPUs. I will tell you this, with my FX 6300 (6 Core @ 4GHz) and 8 GB DDR 3 1600, with my Sapphire 6870, I get 10-15 FPS in a fight but very minimal lag to be noticed. And by fights I mean major Meta Events, Lions Arch does come in around that same level, but my settings are Maximum Everything. As for normal roaming the wilds I have tapped 60 FPS without an issue. So with that, what you have should work fine.
I will suggest a minimum of 8GB of RAM, I personally use AMD Radeon memory and it runs very stable. For a PSU you’ll want a minimum of 600-750 watts, with a 12 volt rail of at least 30. I use an Ultra X3 600w with no issues, full modular systems are easy to install and maintain I have found. For a video card, the R7 series is the lower end, and the r9 270 / 270x is decent for upper mid range. For GW2 a R7 260 would work decently, but the R9 again will pack a little more oomph for games that require more on a GPU.
All in all you’d be looking at around $80-85 for the RAM, $100-$150 for the PSU, and $150-250 for the video.
Sadly GPU upgrades don’t do much for GW2. Also the FPS you are getting are the norm for this game now.
A few things you may want to try though in the CCC:
Turn AA, AF, Tessellation to App Control
Morphological, Vertical Sync Off
(edited by moonstarmac.4603)
The one thing I’d like to say would be great to fix the gold/gem ratio issue, a set value that does not fluctuate. ie: 2.5g = 100gems, 100gems = 2.5g. Set it in stone. As for legendaries, they are supposed to be harder. They are also supposed to be the best of the best, thus you have the special appearances and ability to set your own stats. But if you want a somewhat cheaper solution to legendaries we have ascended gear. It costs less to craft but stats are set based and the appearances aren’t as flashy.
But overall, as stated, yes the value of gold is a bit underwhelming at this time. I believe it to be mostly linked to the failed system of gold:gem conversion which, as I mentioned, needs a set ratio.
I’d love to have a system like we did in GW1…but to do it they’d have to remove the ‘pay to reset’ option on traits…which would be good.
Three reasons we don’t need mounts:
1) This isn’t EQ or EQ2
2) This isn’t WoW or a WoW clone
3) This isn’t some other MMO this is Guild Wars!
Why we need better titles :
1) Titles are awesome
2) Titles are awesome
3) Did I mention, Title are Awesome!
Here’s what I would try…pull your RAM and, if 2 sticks try one at a time to see if the issue occurs with either stick. If one, clean the contacts.
As for the comment on Ultra PSU’s, I’ve only used Ultra myself. Had an original XConnect series that was hit by lightning and only lost it. Ultra replaced it with an X3 600 which works great. I will point out that unlike most PSUs the Ultra series will only pull what it needs when it needs it. ie: If my computer only needs 400-500w at one time the PSU will only feed out that amount. They are just designed to do that.
But back to the OPs issue, from my experience that sounds like a RAM lockup. Try cleaning the contacts and it should work out. Also check your wiring for your HDs as well. I had a similar issue that was caused by a miscommunication in the RAM due to bad contact and a faulty SATA cable.
Anyway, hope it helps.
You have to purchase the recipes. They are now only avail on the TP as the Bazaar of the Four Winds has closed.
