no problem…a lot of things changed over the last year, this was one of the best ones
No longer needed, just open your trait menu and change them as you wish. However, you cannot ‘unlearn’ learned traits. Meaning, once you use hero points to buy them, you keep them.
trainer for what exactly?
Super Bubbles! We already called it Bubbles, ArenaNet gave us an ‘S’…so, Super Bubbles just makes sense.
I posted on this earlier, but after doing some math, pro-con stats, etc…I decided to get 2 shared slots. I still believe 700 gems is a little much up front, however the long term savings outweighs up front costs.
I have noticed a lot of people are upset about these slots because some time ago they purchased a CF Salvage or SF Salvage for each character, multiple copies of permanent harvesting tools, or other items. Many are demanding refunds and are angry when they are denied. Such reminds me of other games I’ve played, most recently would be Everquest 2. Pre-F2P EQ2 had released a F2P beta~ish server, Freeport. I spent money on unlocking classes and races. After F2P took off, the restrictions lifted and all classes and races, except the newest elite ones, became available. I asked for a refund but had this explained: If you start playing a game at the beginning and buy every expansion that is launched you would not get a refund simply because someone years later bought the latest edition that included all of the previous expansions for less than what you’ve paid over the years.
Such is true with this. The ‘give-me give-me’ mindset is extremely volatile, and only brings about negativity in the long run. Okay, so you have more than 1 of a permanent item…use the slots (if you buy them) for something else. I use mine for map items (crowbars, exalted keys, chak gunk, machetes, bandit keys, etc). This saves time in the long run, having them in a central location to use as I swap toons while playing.
If anything I wish they’d increase the limit from 5 to 10, or at least 8.
TLDR:
If you chose to by an item before this was in game, that was your choice. No one made you do it. You are not entitled to a refund just because a new mechanic is launched. If you want to buy these slots, buy them…if not, don’t.
I’ve been in PVP matches and PVE WB events where ArenaNet players show up. It is really awesome to see people from ArenaNet show up and actually play with their tags on.
It does specify “share 1 non-bag item” in the gem store. If a player fails to read the details of an item prior to purchase, that is on them not AreaNet.
I will say, yes, 700 for 1 slot is high, however, as others have stated it saves money in the long run if you use these slots for the permanent harvesting tools.
In order to get credit at a Guild Rush when another guild is doing it, you must 1) rep a guild that has the race active in their Mission Panel and 2) complete the race.
I’m one of 2-3 active players in my guild, so each week I join in on other guild’s races to complete the activity for my guild and to get my weekly credit. The fact that this does work means 2-3 guilds with say, 3-5 members each, can complete the race together and all 3 guilds get the reward as long as 15 players finish during the race.
I will say the idea behind shared slots is very good. I think for 700 gems is a little high, but at the same time a person with 3 of these will only need 1 set of permanent harvesting tools for all characters.
However, upping it from 1 single item slot to 1 3-4 slot bag would make it even more worth the 700 gems. I say a minimum of 3 to promote the purchase of permanent harvesting tools.
Yes. One is in Auric Basin, same area as the Golem HP. Ley-line gliding is needed to do some of it. Another is under Rata Novus, the mushroom room. Jump shroom to shroom to get on the ledge high above the HP, then jump shroom to shroom across to the chest for your achievment/mp.
Lost Precipice…this guild hall is amazing!
The look and feel of the game.
The fact that HoT isn’t a “press 1 faceroll”.
Overall everything about this game is great. Well, except when you miss that last jump on a JP and have to start over lol.
What is interesting, his portrayal of said revenant, Hugh Glass, is based on a true story.
I will say that HoT does seem like it should be hard for a solo player, but I solo play all over the maps myself without issue. I will say that Hero Points are difficult for a solo player in some cases, as they spawn champ mobs with some nasty abilities, but usually there are HP Trains running on every map, or more than one player willing to join in on them.
I will also say the new map bosses are very fun. I can only say this about the Verdant Brink, Tangled Depths, and Auric Basin locations so far, I have not done much in Dragon’s Stand yet. The best part is each boss fight has different mechanics based on which side you take on, and the rewards aren’t that bad.
The major issue I have seen since the game launched is the persistent negativity a small portion of the players show. Some argue that fighting this mob or completing that event to progress is “grind”. I played games like Everquest years ago and I know what real grinding is. Sitting in Dulock dual boxing with guildies to get XP and gold for hours so I could get that next level so I could begin my epic. The closest thing GW2 has to this is working on a legendary, but that is even easier than EQ.
I am a very casual player, usually playing 2-3 hours a day if not less. I still love the game and I am looking forward to what comes next.
Yeah, whoever tagged GW2 HoT for Walmart put in Heart of Th rones. For Sims 4 Get To Work they put in Getto Work. Either they are not very good, or have an odd sense of humor.
The Tribal set, much like the original guild armors (minus the chest piece) were part of the PVP armor collection sets prior to the addition of the game-wide wardrobe. It has been stated that the Tribal armor is intended to return to the game, however there is no ETA as to when.
It seems the initial Wintersday patch busted many NPCs around Tyria. These are mostly NPCs with a set patrol path, ie Lionguard, Seraph, and bounty NPCs. What happens is the do not actually walk their set paths, but instead teleport at set intervals, ie: they appear, stand in one place for about a minute, vanish, and reappear the distance away they would have walked. Due to this, they can not be interacted with as the location the appear in is not really where they are.
It actually fits well with the GW1 Drunkard line…post change that is. Pre-change in GW1 you would end up consuming over 100,000 beverages for the 10k title, mainly because you had to be T3-5 on drunk to get 1 point per minute, meaning more drinks required to spend 10,000 minutes (literal minutes) drunk. The Sweet Tooth title for GW2, is much more forgiving as it too required 10k to achieve max title.
Sadly, from my understanding of what was said during Guild Chat, the Wonderland JP is a required part of this piece. Each item in the collection sounds as if it is bound by event and you must complete the event successfully 3 times to get the item.
Honestly, I really, really, really hope I this is not the case. If it is get an item every 3 successful completions it isn’t so bad, but if it is every 3 times for every event…it’ll be just like Nightfury for a lot of players.
How do you know if you’ve met a sober Norn?
I don’t know either!
Got a few classics, courtesy of His Royal Madness, Mad King Thorn.
“How are a Paragon and a drunkard alike?”
“Both like to shout at strangers and run around without any pants.”
“What’s the difference between the Great Dwarf and the Great Destroyer?”
“One is a harbinger of the apocalypse and the other is an oxymoron.”
“Why do the Norn “Become the Bear?”"
"Because “Become the Arrogant Loudmouth” was already taken by the Asura."
Have you updated your chipset and video drivers to 15.7 yet? If not, this should resolve some issues. Also, if you are running 64 bit Windows 10, you may want to increase your RAM.
You can invite them to a party with you and they can join you in your GH. There is one catch, however….they cannot use any GH merchants or features.
Happy Anniversary Gaile! …oh and Froggy too!
I too have suffered this issue. What happened, is the first day or so it was a fighting challenge that spawned a champ Itzel. However, it was changed promptly to a channel point, but those who interacted with it prior now show it completed in game, however not completed on the map & progress.
What if we sylvari players changed too?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: moonstarmac.4603
I can’t wait…especially if it gives us the ability to answer Mordremoth as a Sylvari.
I have 6 80s: Human Necro, Sylvari Ele, Human Guard, Human Ranger, Sylvari Mes, Norn Theif , and 1 non 80: Norn War (I may re-re-re-re-re…..re-re-re-roll this one…again).
I have 2 character slots available to me if I ever want a Engi or Rev….at the moment I’m content with what I have…except the war. I keep going between Charr, Norn, and Asura. I just can’t decide 100% on if I want one lol.
I’ll point out that as of the last few years antivirus scanners like AVG and Avast have had a large number of false positives due to modifications in program code. The worst I’ve seen is Drake Tax Software used by many tax preps being labeled as a Trojan and removed outright by these scanners. The end solution I found to these types of issues is 1) use Windows Security Essentials for Vista or 7, Windows Defender for 8 & 10. It is free and works well. If you want a backup, I suggest Malwarebytes Antimalware Free Edition and to scan your system every month or so with a custom scan – rootkit search enabled.
All in all, most AV programs on the market are quite useless compared to the current Windows protection available.
My suggestions on a redux of this event:
1) Take the Brisban Incursions defeated tracker and add it to Kessex and Diessa.
2) Keep the Defender buff, however change its function slightly
3) Set the rewards to act more ‘zone wide’ than ‘player based’ to encourage more killing and less, tag & port tactics.
~ Reward idea: 1 Mordrem Bloom per 2 incursions — 1 Bloom per Stack of Defender -- 20 Bloom Map Bonus (req 1 Stack Defender) as it is currently.
— ie: 40 incursions defeated = 20 , 10 Stacks = 10 , Map Bonus = 20
The final, is to most definitely do this event again with a reworked reward system. Also, if possible, set the stacks to expire after 30 minutes or until the event on map ends and a reward is given. This will help with players who experience a disconnect in the middle of the event, allowing them to rejoin the event without loss of their stacks.
Overall, I really enjoyed this event as a whole. My work schedule did prevent me from playing it as much as I wanted, but I see great potential if it can be slightly tweaked and run again.
suddenly low fps - cpu at 100%, gpu at 10%

What CPU / MB / RAM Amount / PSU / GPU / OS do you have? Also could you post a screenshot of GPUZ and CPUID with GW2 running in windowed mode and open.
Thank you
It will not, it has 16gb of flash memory and Chrome OS. That means that 1) no where nearly enough disk space to even hold GW2 and 2) COS is not supported at all.
Chromebooks are made for very light use, never gaming in this sense. Also 2gb of RAM and the CPU on that would mean you’d get maybe 2-3 FPS IF you could somehow finagle it to work.
I looked over their contest page where they posted submissions. Found this one that looks similar to the one I submitted: https://www.flickr.com/photos/arenanet/20819877336/in/album-72157655371639663/
Mine is attached below. (1 is the submitted image, 2 is the full colored)
I tired spirits before they removed their ability to move. Storm I always found to be pointless. Sadly I think spirits overall are a bit lost. They have so much potential, but it seems wasted in a way.
I actually like that a lot… How do you go about catching people though? It seems like GS is our only option to chase. Thanks for your reply!
With S/D – Dagger 5 – crip & bleed. I also use Strength of the Pack (formerly Rampage as One) to close the distance. Pet wise I use a polar bear (Mr Cuddles) and pop his F2 to chill them. Sadly, I’m not a very active PVP/WVW player. Mostly PVE where stuff dies way too fast lol.
My guardian has black wings. They are hidden by his shield out of combat, but when he pops in, they pop out. They work great with the black armor mixup, Jormag’s Breath, and Torment Shield.
RNG is RNG. Like anything else, its a gamble. Personally I never did care about how much in game gold I have, as I learned a long time ago it didn’t really matter. Besides I’m a hoarder…if its shiny, its probably in my bank somewhere lol.
I will tell you, if you are running Windows Vista or later, drop those paid antivirus programs and use the one from Microsoft. It is built into Win 8 & 10. If you want a backup to verify no infections, use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free Edition.
I run S/D – LB. I found condi is about dead in any ranger build these days, so I go crit happy. Overall, my weapon choice depends on the situation entirely. At World Bosses you’ll find me safely out of harms way with my LB, but roaming around PVE I go S/D with my hack & slash fun. Still we we could do S/S lol.
PVP wise, I like my LB because of the ability to pierce my targets… get them lined up and pick the one at the back. S/D with traps can be useful, you can lure them in and toy with them. SB also can be fun.
A note I want to throw out as well, Windows 10 likes to install Microsoft drivers over other hardware drivers. I had to shut off the option to install hardware drivers because Win10 kept overwriting my AMD drivers on a daily basis.
Yes, yes, and yes….over 9000 times YES!
Super Awesome 3rd! Thank you ArenaNet!
Personally I like the dye thing…and if anything, this year’s bday pres is 110x better than last year’s cake gun. Just saying.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to getting home and collecting on my 2 3yo chars…I’ll about 2 more in 4 months or so lol.
May we get a shot of CPUID and GPUZ with GW2 running in windowed mode beside them. Also, which OS are you running and do you have the latest chipset drivers?
Another thing, is where do you get those FPS? In a zerg @ world bosses? roaming pve/wvw?
Also, you may want to see if your cores are parked. You can check this under Task Manager → Performance → Resource Monitor → CPU.
You may want to check your network adapter’s settings…Windows 10 likes to set everything to an energy efficient setting. I had to reinstall my drivers to get mine to work right after my update, plus tweak some settings.
@OP – What motherboard are you running? I ask because if it is a FM2+ board, it should support the new Carrizo cpus. The overall drawback is the APUs were designed from the Bulldozer architecture, which is one of the biggest AMD flops ever. The Carrizo has slightly newer tech, which seems to give it better performance overall.
Have any of you checked for chipset driver updates for Windows 10 by chance? I know some intel chipset drivers for 8 and earlier may cause issues in 10.
The other thing, is if possible could you post a screenshot of GPUZ and CPUZ open while Guild Wars 2 is running open in windowed mode preferred. This will let us know if there is a sync error.
Mini Pet arenas and Polymock! OH and something about doom, gloom and Jormag getting frisky with Primordous.
I prefer traits or skills that grant passive swiftness, however if the class does not have it and I’m rushing somewhere I’ll use a swiftness skill.
I just wish it would help in combat a little bit, like an increased dodge chance or something, but hey…its still ok.
“Livestream:
If you’re unable to attend in person, never fear! We’ll be streaming the presentation on the official Guild Wars 2 Twitch channel. Tune in at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time (UTC-7) for a preshow featuring community members"
I’ve never gone to these events, however, I know many companies do not do this part at all.
9 Days til the Anniversary…no telling what they may…or may not…do.
But if you still play GW1, we are 6 days from the Wayfarer’s Reverie.
