2) Remove the PvE maps and reinstate Alpines,
3) Balance the classes, especially the overpowered HoT elites.

They won’t do any of it since they will never admit what a failure HoT has been.

Bad players need something to blame for losing. It’s not that they lacked the skill to kill someone, it’s because their opponent ran the evil permastealth fullcondi zerker permaheal boonbomber build.

Even in full dire with Chaos, direct damage in WvW is so high now that tanky condi 1vX Mesmer builds are very easy to kill with one simple CC led coordinated focus – it’s trivial now to overcome an enemy’s toughness/vitality. Necro auto-cast Signet of Spite will see you killing yourself if you have no cleanse. Competent Scrappers will laugh at your extremely easy to manage condi bursts. Revenants and Dragonhunters do huge damage that easily prevents you from kiting them out. Druids can now just leave any fight you try to put them in with a simple Quick Draw + Ancestral Grace. Daredevils can of course do the same and Escapist’s Absolution will see your condi burst almost completely removed if another player decides to blow a few cooldowns whilst the Daredevil evade spams to freedom (if alone stow weapon after bursting a Daredevil to set them deal with the stacks). Condi Mes performs admirably against Elementalists and killing Berserkers is depressingly trivial (which is the case no matter what you’re playing).

I don’t think “disgusting” Mes/Chrono builds exist anymore since the alacrity nerf. Perplexity runes just allows you to sort of be competitive alongside the condi efficiency of the other classes.

Oh they do, but they are most certainly not eagerly shared as no one wants them to become more common.

Minimal effort? Ah, you are looking at one of the Reaper builds then.

One thing I’ve noticed as of the implementation of PPK is that guilds from brainless PPT servers like SFR and the Germans are more likely than before to chase down individual roamers. It used to be that “real” WvW guilds had so much discipline that as a solo roamer you could stand by the side of the road and they would run by and leave you alone because big battles were why they were there, while chasing solo guys was not. I thought it was amazingly disciplined, organized, and respectful. Nowadays most of these “WvW guilds” are nothing but glorified gank squads.

As for bona fide gank squads, they can be avoided for the most part by exercising good map awareness and running a stealthy cancer build (without which roaming is pointless with all the HoT clown builds around).

Inspiration is a waste. I only run traited Torch and the Mantra and have no particular trouble with conditions. Then again I don’t try to facetank Reapers either.

Lose the staff.

One server will always have more population as another, as the fairweather players move wherever they think the loot is more plentiful.

Quite simply, the matchups should not be based only on Glicko. There should be someone at Anet who actually monitors these things and handpicks each matchup based on Glicko AND on recent match history. Sure, he or she might get flamed each week because you can never please everyone, but it would be better than having to fight the same servers weeks on end.

You are using vanilla necro. You are doing it wrong.

Buy HoT, use Reaper. Doesn’t get much more easy mode than that.

Illusions have an additional 95% damage reduction in PvE, giving them an effective hp value of 20x what is listed. The listed values are not even remotely enough in PvE. Mesmer rarely only has the one clone present. These clones can track opponents in a simplistic way. They can deal damage while the player performs other functions. They mitigate damage while the player performs other functions. The clones are never centered directly on the player and are spread. You think that is not enough and they need more health. Interesting.

Your assumption is based on the notion that they are going to address current problems. History has taught us that this isn’t what they excel at; they prefer to completely ignore existing issues and rely on redesigns which simply replace old problems with new ones.

In the absence of better information, I still find the “leak” the most likely scenario. In other words, killing off the servers entirely and replacing them with a megaserver GvG alliance system that will alienate a large portion of what little remains of their WvW community.

This. When they first talked about Chronomancer, I was excited at the prospect of new weapons opening up new possibilities in terms of build diversity. But no, it’s all shatter, all the time. The only thing carrying it is Alacrity and F5. This makes the entire Chrono feel cheesy and gimmicky, just like the post-rework shatterlock with the incessant mantra spam.

Used to be that when I fought another Mesmer, I never knew what to expect. Would it be a power shatter, a phantasm build, a glamour build…?

Now I don’t have to wonder. I fight the exact same Chronoclown one after another. Oh so exciting.

Why don’t you just move to either of those servers and run in the 50-man blob spamming your staff and letting your brain rot in your skull like the rest of them? You’ll get to “fight” to your heart’s content. Problem solved.

I must say that elite specializations effectively killed off any desire to play my alts. I’ve been slowly moving any good gear, toys, consumables or other stuff off of them and have basically just been using them as mules or node farmers since HOT dropped.

This. I have several alts at 80 with decent gear which I intended to slowly improve upon and develop my skills with when I take breaks from playing my main. Now, I have no desire to do so, as it would mean having to grind the elites for each of them since the core classes are so painfully weak in comparison, and I only play WvW.

The fact that my main is a Mesmer is just adding more salt into those cuts. Thanks Anet.

I didn’t care for the PvP action in ArcheAge at all, but I miss the fishing. Going out onto the sea on my clipper or my rowboat, and fishing there, listening to the waves and watching the sun set in the horizon… Man, that was so nice.

Also, it was nice to know that, as peaceful an activity as it was, there was a Kraken in the ocean, so there was also a slight restless undercurrent to the activity. Sure, I got killed a few times and my boat turned into splinters by the Kraken, but it was rare enough that it didn’t make the activity less tranquil.

That game got many, many things wrong, but the ocean and the sea monster thing they got bang-on.

The fact that people seriously entertain the notion of this going anywhere is further evidence as to just how bad things are.

Gaile is great, she is a great communicator and a very friendly person, but she is being used as a buffer between the developers – or “team” if there is such a thing – and the players. She was sent into the WvW forum to essentially read a statement so the “team” wouldn’t have to.

Collecting feedback and passing it on is precisely what the “forum specialists” do, and that venture is yet to show any meaningful results.

They threw her in front of the firing squad, although it could be the squad is too disinterested and disheartened by now to even lock and load.

No, no. Like one of the devs once proclaimed, stealth is an “exciting” part of competitive play. If anything, add more of it. Give it to rifle warriors, hammer revs and other cheeseboxes. Also add +40% stealth food for more excitement.

Last night as soon as the event started everything began rubberbanding and skills would not fire. It got so bad that the commander on the map said to just let the enemy zerg finish the event and not slow them down so as to be done with it faster.

If Anet’s intent was to inspire “epic” battles at the oasis, they have failed spectacularly. “Epic” fights does not equal skills that don’t fire and enemies that teleport around randomly.

Would you prefer a subscription instead?

I’m a veteran home border defender of about 2.5 years. I don’t really go to EB much; to illustrate this point I have 48k kills but I’ve captured SM 44 times and defended it 64 times (lol).

1) I don’t play as much now as I did before HoT, but when I do, I spend less time on defense as it isn’t really worth investing time and effort in.

2) Home borderland.

3) I used to scout and siege up objectives in the old borderland, but on the new one there is no point in doing so, so I primarily solo roam and flip camps and towers. The defense part of my routine has gone from pre-emptive to recovery: it is now more about turning paper towers back into the right colour.

4) I tend to start each night solo and mostly solo roam, but there is a small group of likeminded defenders with which I frequently am in squad with for better communication, and in instances where we actually defend a keep I tend to be with them.

Hate would require much more passion than I feel for this game now. Primarily for four reasons: 1) HoT destroyed class balance entirely. 2) WvW neglect. 3) Lack of communication from the developers. 4) Guild Hall bullkitten nerfed our guild into the ground, we had upgrades we’d worked and paid for that we will never get back.

We got a very nice overhaul with the traits rework. Remember that thread dedicated to praising Robert Gee?

The MtD buff lasted, what, three hours? Because “we tested it on golems.” Then, bit by bit, they chipped away at everything until people felt that they had gutted Mesmer. Yet, at the time, people said “don’t worry, Chrono is coming”. And come it did. Then, bit by bit…

So really, it’s nice to want things. But anything they give you they will promptly nerf back into uselessness.
