To be fair on condi Necro, how many people do you see actually dodging your skills? I can confidently say that I rarely do.
It can hardly be said a build is OP when people aren’t even taking the most basic measures to attempt to counter it. In this case, dodge/blind/block. If they don’t try to avoid any of my hard-hitting skills, don’t you think they should lose?
Ah, finally an explanation. Everyone and their grandma isn’t running the pay2win necro elite because it’s overpowered, but because the community at large doesn’t know how to dodge.
Finally, a necro build that hardcounters not dodging.

We know for a fact Anet has a QA team that tests things. They have to go and play against each other in say PvP and figure out which changes are too strong, which are acceptable, which work and which don’t.
They nerfed the MtD rework right out of the gate because they “tested it on golems and found it too strong”, so no, I wouldn’t “know” they have a QA “team”.

Ahh, you’re a seafairy. Perfect. I’ve got this one.
Roll a Guardian.
Press B, select Eternal Battlegrounds.
Beeline for the commander tag to join the zone blob.
Use a staff (this one is an important step!) and spam the 1 key at enemies.
Congratulations, you are now a skilled PvPer and contributing to your server’s path to victory.

Thank you, Anet. The gift that keeps on giving.

I’ve been a home border defender, scout, and roamer for about 3 years. In my opinion, the current upgrade system is fine. It is an improvement over the old in the sense that dolyaks are once again needed, but no one can blow 800 sups on a useless upgrade just as the enemy horde is advancing.
On the other hand, the upgrade system is rendered meaningless due to the fact that home defenders cannot use the keep waypoints and the travel time by foot through the hamster maze is far too long.
I’ve timed this. It takes a zerg less than 6 minutes from touching the outer gate of a fortified keep to lord down and ring up. If a tower is contested in the south when I am in the rampart, I know it’ll be lost by the time I reach it, so why bother upgrading it unless I am going to sit in it.
It is difficult to get zergs from EB to respond to calls for help without a waypoint, because, well, once again, the hamster maze. Add to this the constant threat of fall damage death, I’ve had to many times start over from spawn because I never made it to the contested keep at all due to some paw slip. The map is just one platform jumper game.
Traditionally, there have been just a small handful of roaming scouts responding to contested keeps and towers. With the old map, this was not much of an issue, because in any tower you could immediately see all the walls and gates, and it didn’t take a whole lot of walking to see which wall was damaged in Bay or Hills either. On the new map, especially Fire has way too many walls to check and long distances to travel between them. Start from spawn, walk to the keep, check all the walls and gates – all within the six minutes it takes for a zerg to cap a T3 keep. Go.

The expansion offers absolutely nothing I want, while the lack of it is detrimental to my existing gameplay experience due to elite vs core profession imbalance.
The “expansion” removed core capabilities from my guild – which we had worked towards and paid for – and made them unattainable for us.
This is what you consider worth 44.99£?

I absolutely do want the Alpines back.
I loved those maps and miss them every time I log on. They were perfect (to the extent that any map is, really) for the game mode. They offered great venues for battles, provided space for interesting strategies yet got out of the way when you just wanted to carve some meat. Whoever designed that map understood the game mode. Whoever designed the new one, does not.

guess you guys preferred the same ones you been looking at for years?

It’s the WvW overhaul they’ve been working on.

I thought the point of a balance patch was to improve balance, not to break broken necro garbage even further.
~ There is no balance team. ~
Then there is also a third thing. The exit button in the WvW-Dialog. This seems to be a bug to me. While the map-buttons are dimmed and are not usable during combat the exit button remains usable. I think it should be dimmed and unusable during combat like the map-switch buttons.
After 5 month finally fixed. Is it just my impression or does the WvW-bug-backlog really get shorter
From https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-January-26-2016/first#post5946360
The “Leave the Mists” button no longer functions when dead or in combat.

I think your scenario went off the rails right there.

I find that the stupid teleporting/stealthing/stunning ogre is faaaaaaaar harder to bring down
For me, it’s the idiot necro @ NE tower. The other towers are easy to solo, Bay is not extraordinarily difficult just takes time, Hills or Garrison I am yet to try. But that necro, man… That necro.

With the nerf of the energy sigil, what build to play?
phantasm?
condi with the scepter trait buff?
Depends on the content. Or did you expect there to be one and the same build that covers all of it?

Just fine in WvW roaming? Sure, except you’re hilariously slow and pidgeonholed into using specific utilities/weapons/runes to fix that.

If nerfing ONE skill turns the class into “trash”, then perhaps the bigger problem than the nerf is that the class was trash to begin with and being carried by the skill.
Warrior without banner is trash, rev without glint is trash, etc etc … such a good message kappa
Warrior has had banner from the get go. My core mesmer has been and will continue to be just fine without Precog. If you need it to make Chrono viable, then here’s a tissue.

I want to add something to the mix here.
Some of game skills use f4 skills, yes?
Ok, under your left palm on most badly made keyboards is the ALT key.
Many times lately I have palmed over the ALT key while using my f4 skill and VIOLA, game over.
Anet is the issue, their logic about keyboard layout and use is abysmal
If they want people not to seemingly purposefully abuse alt-f4, they should change it immediately to a combination NOT in the rotation of a skill use.
ALT-F4 should never have been used to “end the game” in the first place._*
Anet didn’t put that in, it’s a Windows feature.
You may be able to work around it: http://superuser.com/questions/334463/how-can-alt-f4-be-disabled-in-windows-7

Its always gonna be anets goals for wvw vs everyones individual view. Regarding that particular quote about hiding commander tags, I can understand both sides so I dont really come down in favor or against it, because both sides have very valid points. Its just one of those things where they are kitten ed if they do, kitten ed if they dont.
What exactly is the developers’ point that you agree with?
No pugmander would hide the tag because they always need more people on them, not less.
The only difference between there being only one tag on the map and it’s a guild raid, and no tags at all, is that in the aforementioned scenario the pug gets told he can go kitten himself when he tries to latch onto the raid.
People who would hide tag don’t suddenly want to include you in their raid simply because they have no option to hide it.

Anet talking about something not being “healthy” to WvW is like a hospice nurse telling a patient they’re eating too much dairy.

My problem with EB isn’t that it’s zergy, it’s that so much as entering the zone and not even being near any zergs in primetime means I can add 3 seconds to my skill activation.

Just stand in front of a row of those flickering walls and pan your camera rapidly left and right for a few minutes. Cheaper than dropping acid.

I doubt that there are that many concerns they could respond to even if they wanted to.
With the future alliance system destroying server communities further, they probably hope to deal with our pesky issues not with surgical precision but an orbital nuke.
There’s no better way to resolve a population balance issue, for example, than by removing the population.

You can play w/o HoT, you just need to be better than enemy. I am running vanilla do build because i hate daredevil design and i am doing fine however i agree elites are just stupidly ovetuned due to dubious marketing strategies and need massive nerfing.
everything works if you are better than the enemy, but why use something that disadvantages you against equally skilled players?
It’s not as simple as people having or not having HoT. I have it, I am a Mesmer main, and I detest Chronomancer. I simply will not play it, so that leaves me out of sPvP until such time, if or when, the elites are toned down to where core profession builds are on an equal or nearly equal footing.
I would rather play (unranked) with someone like that Guardian in the story above, someone who runs something he enjoys, than with someone who picks apart the builds and playstyles of others. Sure, some builds will be nothing but luggage, but I’d prefer people “play their way” (I’m sure I’ve seen that tag line somewhere…) as much as possible. Under the current garbage meta, it’s an ill-conceived notion, so I’d rather not play at all.

they already anounced they are killing mesmer and buffing rev some more.
Howd u know that, source?
The announcement… duh.

If you want to know how other tiers are doing, you can go to wvwintel and add up the total number of deaths in each matchup. That gives some idea of activity.
For example, right now in your matchup (T6) there have been 18,000 deaths. T1, it’s 67,000. And in T8 it’s only 5000.
In any case, I’d like to see some videos nevertheless.
Does the site differentiate between deaths per border? The total doesn’t mean much if 90% is from EB.
~ There is no balance team. ~
We’ve avoided adding this feature because we don’t believe it would be healthy for WvW. While we can appreciate why some players would want a feature like this, lots of other players only engage in WvW when, upon entering a WvW map, immediately see a commander icon to follow. We try and avoid adding features that can be used to intentionally exclude other players.
It’s not much more welcoming for new players to beeline to the guild raids and be told in no uncertain terms to kitten off because, well, it’s a guild raid. Many servers use different tag colours to differentiate between open and guild raids, but not all do, and an inexperienced player wouldn’t know anyway.
~ There is no balance team. ~
When you say “mesmer is fine in pvp” you really mean chronomancer.
~ There is no balance team. ~
At the rate they’re killing the game, 3 servers per region ought to be plenty.

This is why instead of buying gems anymore I am putting the same amount of money into upgrading my prepurchase tier in Camelot Unchained. The founder and lead developer of the project himself is answering questions on social media, everywhere from FB to Reddit to YouTube. You really get the sense of transparency and like your feedback can provide constructive input into the development process.
Compared to the brick wall that is Arenanet, it’s a breath of fresh air.
~ There is no balance team. ~
Luckily only bad players resort to playing the spec, so in the meantime, just kill them and /laugh.
~ There is no balance team. ~
Also, maybe it is intentional for the devs to design a stronger elite than core. That’s why they call the new spec ‘elite’.
Of course it is intentional. You’re not going to pay to win unless you’re actually, y’know, going to win.
~ There is no balance team. ~
Well hold on a sec here folks.
Anything that has such a dramatic change in proposed dates means that something major got scrapped, pushing a release date a significant time into the future. Even mid-2016 is still six months development time. That’s not a short period of time. So they have to go back to barebones and revisit their initial push.
I’m hopeful for the first time in months.
It likely means they read this forum and read reactions to proposed changes and now are going back to rethink it.
This is a good thing.
RIP EoTM Megaserver WvW. So glad we never met.
xox
You’re assuming that they’re actually going to take that time to develop WvW content instead of simply re-allocating more people to work on Living Story 3 and other PvE garbage.
I think you’re letting your optimism cloud your judgment; we’ve been down this road before. I know the flavour of this carrot by heart.
~ There is no balance team. ~
After the way they completely screwed us over with the trait rework by nerfing everything to kitten after release, I wouldn’t hold my breath about any improvements.
639 days and Duelist’s Discipline is still broken.
Any new or improved skills will either
1) not work
or
2) be nerfed a few days after introduction.
~ There is no balance team. ~
Fixed a bug that could cause reinforced and fortified walls to become invulnerable after having been destroyed once.
Your patch didn’t fix this, I had two walls on stone Mist become invulnerable after they were broke then it upgraded from paper to reinforced.
If it took them only one try to fix a bug, I’d go buy a lottery ticket.
Typically the bug fixes they get right on the first try are ones no one asked for.
Illusionary Elasticity took how many tries? Oh right, it was never fixed. Duelist’s Discipline has been completely broken 639 days. They took one shot at it, but managed to fumble it. They haven’t touched it since, because why fix something arbitrary like a trait when there are tooltip typos to hunt down?
On the other hand, these are the guys who brought us the Golem Week. Even something as simple as that couldn’t be conjured up without a game-breaking bug. Careful when you ask for fixes… They actually might work when you don’t want them to.
~ There is no balance team. ~
Whoever the guy or team was that designed the original Alpine Borderlands and its mechanics understood the game mode.
Whoever is in charge of developing the WvW game mode currently is blissfully ignorant of what its appeal was in the first place.
Re-hire whoever worked on it and let them fix this disaster, and put the current team of clowns to work on new PvE content, since that appears to be their expertise.
~ There is no balance team. ~
This forum is not the place to discuss scepter/anything. Here it’s Chronobunker or bust. I sent you a PM.

~ There is no balance team. ~
The DBLs cater to zergs and blobs, which is the only thing we ever faced when matched with Elona, RS, or Kodash.
Funny considering how the desert BL is meant to break blobs up.
I find it difficult to believe that was ever the intention. Everything favours large numbers, from barricades to the PvE event.
~ There is no balance team. ~
The same people who fix this kitten brought us the Golem Week.
Ponder on that one for a minute.
How were you repairing the gate from 650 units away??
Read it again with your eyes open. He was running supplies to repair, he hadn’t actually reached the gate yet.
