You have T5 and mithril. The only thing you are missing is elder logs.
I suggest you go craft up rare greatswords to sell.
Or if you want to risk it, gamble on the forge
I’m guessing you are saying there is a steady market for the swords primarily because people buy them in bulk to throw into the forge?
Pretty much.
DS necro spam 111111 because #2/3 do no damage, and #4/5 have an absurd 40s cooldown.
The same could be said about most Necro weapon skills.
Axe being a pretty notable exception with #1 being super weak compared to #2.
If it’s introduced (and I personally hope it will), it will likely be a Mystic Forge recipe at a 5:1 ratio similar to the other conversion recipes.
I concur.
Inflation is caused by:
1. Dungeon Gold Rewards
2. Event Gold Rewards
3. Mob Gold Drops
4. Chest Gold Drops
Deflation is caused by:
1. Trading Post Fees
2. Repair Fees
3. Crafting materials (like Coal and Thread)
4. Cultural Armor
The Trading Post cannot possibly increase inflation, because it exclusively works to DELETE gold from the game.

I am really surprised with 90% of these posts. They show that most players just do not know how to play a ranger.
Since…
- Pets are Rangers, Rangers are Pets. Take another profession if you do not like to control 2 things (the pet and the ranger) at the same time.
- Pets do not die if you play well (not in Wurrm, Teq or any fractals 50)
- Ranger+Pet do an amazing direct dps in PVE [note: I am full berserker, full ascended, full infused (with +5p and +5 T in armour) SSS ranger (sword, spotter, spirit)]So, what is the only real lack for rangers?
1) Safe our pets names!!! (we change several pets in each fractal run and they lost their names…)
2) See the buffs and debuff in our pets HP bar
3) See a casting bar of our target (right now we have to anticipate our actions just by experience) to see what they are exactly doing/casting/attacking in each moment. Please, do not make rangers as easy to play as other professions.
Lots of players, myself included, can overcome the handicaps with the class and perform well with Rangers. That does not mean that Rangers are fine and don’t need help. The fact that the class was voted as “most needing help” in the Dev Poll supports the idea that Rangers are not fine and need help.
As for the “easy to play” argument, every class in this game is easy to play. This isn’t GW1 you know.
One thing that really stands out about the ranger is that while every other class has a class mechanic that either supplements or synergizes with their play (depending on their spec), Rangers have a class mechanic that reduces the effectiveness of the class in almost every situation and for every spec.
The Pet mechanic as a concept is fine. As implemented it is a horrible, horrible failure and needs to be reworked.
That’s why you see so many people ask for the ability to kill off their pet (stow). Because the pet really does make playing the game less fun outside of map clearing in PvE.
As for why people want to play as an archer, anyone who played GW1 knows the answer to that. It is truly a SHOCK to the system to go from being the ranged master to a class that gets mocked for pulling out a bow.
Players are tired of this system hurting the game for the sake of few minigame players….
And that is your biased opinion.
It’s ok, we all have them.
They are also usually wrong, since as an opinion, they are not facts.
As someone earlier mentioned. We need realistic representation. I’m pretty sure if we had a vote we would likely come up with 2-4 guys that I would trust to give realistic and credible improvement ideas….without the spam and wall of text
It could be argued that a realistic representation was made when the majority of players voted to have Ranger get the CDI because they felt it was broken enough to warrant it.
Of course, it also could be argued that the forums and the opinions therein represent such a fractionally small percentage of the playerbase that any suggestions forum users have should never be considered.
Fact is, the opines of your “2-4” are no more or less valid or representative than the opines of any other forum user.
On a related note, I look forward to reading your opinions in the CDI because all ideas for Rangers are GOOD ideas at this point!

How can your read beyond the subject and even consider this as possibly being a legit email?
Some people may be English as a Second Language (ESL) and thus wouldn’t be as capable at picking up on the bad grammar being used.
Did you try hitting the necro?
Life Force gets burned by time and damage, with damage being a much faster burn option. If you stand there and eat Life Blasts he’ll get to do quite a few of them. Had you simply auto-attacked him, you’d have taken closer to 5k damage before he was forced out of Death Shroud.
Proposal Overview
Pets need help
Goal of Proposal
Currently, pets are useful for tanking open world PvE mobs but not much else. These ideas should improve the effectiveness of pets so that the ranger feels like he and his pet are one, not that his pet is a ball and chain that is holding him back.
Proposal Functionality
Pet stats should scale based on the ranger’s stats and the pet’s family, with a weight on specific stats based on the individual pets (some benefit more from power, others from condition damage, others from vitality, etc.).
Pet Melee range needs to be increased to 600, or the AI needs to be significantly improved to combat the current “Run>Stop>Begin Attack>Cancel Attack>Run>Stop” cycle that prevents the pet from DPSing moving targets.
Pets need to take 30% damage from AoEs, be immune to one shot mechanics, and take 25% damage from cleaves, when not the selected target for the cleave attack.
When Stowed, the ranger should gain the “Aspect of the [pet name]” effect, which provides unique buffs based on the pet family and specific pet.
Speccing into Beastmastery should improve the pet stat scaling
Signets should always affect the Ranger and require a Beastmastery trait to also affect the pet (the opposite of the way it is now).
Associated Risks
Having a pet is a risk right now…

Proposal Overview
Redesign most weapon skills.
Goal of Proposal
Ranger weapon sets are currently lacking in focus and need to be redesigned so that your weapon selection synergizes with specific playstyles, as with all other classes. This proposal contains a list of suggestions for each weapon in general, as well as some specific weapon skills suggestions.
Proposal Functionality
(note that the numbers below refer to the skill bar number)
Longbow – Reward Max Range and synergize with pet.
1 Damage should not scale with range, but should apply vulnerability at 1000+ range
2 Cripple target and swiftness for pet
3 Immobilize target and Might for pet
5 Knockdown at 1000+, 1 second stun at 600-999, 2 second stun at 0-599. Regen for pet
Shortbow – Condition Damage
3 should apply Burning
4 should apply Torment
5 should become the leapback from old #3 and apply confusion
Sword – Power
1 Dodge should always override animation.
2 Jumps should be reversed so that the first leaps into combat and the second leaps out of combat
3 Cast time should be reduced so that the evade is easier to time
Warhorn – Group/Pet buffs
4 Protection, Regen, and Vigor to nearby allies.
Torch – Condition application
4 Thrown torch aspect remains, but sets location of target on fire for a small aoe
5 Point blank eye stab, causes Burning and Blindness
Axe – Multiple target power weapon
Base damage needs to be increased slightly
3 Needs to cause Chill AoE at target location
5 Should not cancel on movement, but movement speed should be reduced
Associated Risks
A redesign is labor intensive as it requires a rebalancing of damage, CDs, effects, and traits.

Game Mode
Pv[all]
Proposal overview
Wilderness experts should be masters of poisons. Therefore, Rangers should have the most potent poisons available.
Goal of Proposal
Currently Rangers have 15 different skills that apply poison. Necros are in second with 12 and thieves are third with 9. With all that access to poison, you’d think Rangers would have some traits that make it more potent, but they don’t. In fact, there are no traits at all for Rangers that improve poison performance or help Rangers do more damage to poisoned foes. This proposal seeks to reconcile the disparity that currently exists in the Ranger playstyle.
Proposal Functionality
Rangers should be given some trait options to improve poison in various ways. Between extended duration, improved healing suppression, higher damage values, and bonuses against poisoned foes, a healthy balance should be found that rewards rangers for applying and maintaining poison.
Associated Risk
I don’t see any real risks associated with the proposal, primarily because I’ve left it general enough to allow room for various functional applications of the idea that would not unbalance the game or disproportionately reward specific playstyles over others.

I actually wouldn’t mind if they were taking extra time to make sure their introductory paragraph directs responses better. Last thing we need is a whole discussion to go down a road that isn’t technically feasible or possible from a project management standpoint.
If they aren’t willing to commit a TON of time and money into fixing Rangers, then they need to cancel the CDI as anything short of that is just going to be a modified failure.
Maybe someone forgot they were supposed to do a Ranger one too…
Or maybe they want us to forget they were supposed to do a Ranger one too.
Dumping is fine, just be sure to dump at the right price. Check the history of the item to see if it is currently up or down and only dump if it is up.
You should also check to see if it would be more profitable to craft it before you dump it. For example, sometimes the ingots are worth more than the ores needed to make them, so if you convert the ores into ingots first you’ll make more money.
You can use Karma to purchase gear in the Orr areas (the ones far south). The merchants are only available after the big boss events are finished, so you’ll need to find a server that is doing the events and guest to it.
You can also buy gear from the Trading Post or craft it yourself.
There is also WvW gear available for the tokens you get in WvW.
Lastly, you can use Dungeon tokens to buy gear from the Dungeon vendors.
Its Monday here. No CDI yet?!
They are on the West Coast of the US, so they probably aren’t even open yet.
I guess the WvW team works different hours ? That CDI has been up for awhile now. Face it they broke the Rangers class so bad they are completely lost on how to fix it and listening to their players is not their strong point.
It’s been 4 hours since I posted that. They are definitely open now and yes, the other CDIs are up.
PUG = Pick Up Group or a member of a Pick Up Group.
Pick Up Group = Party formed either randomly by shouting “LFG” or through the use of party forming tool. Not a group of coordinated players.
The one thing you can never lose in a market crash is your business acumen. You’ll be back on top in no time Smooth!
They are probably prepping for the DDOS attack that will be the amount of copy/paste that happens the instant the thread is live.
500 cooking is coming, stock up on butter and meats now.
Good call. Meats are currently dirt cheap, so the potential of losing money on that speculation is small. Just be aware that you will be using a lot of inventory for storage on what will likely be a low profit investment, so only do this if you don’t have the capital to invest in better options.
they probably forgot to add the “(makes 5)” thing.
so 40g = 5 stations = 8g/station.
Or it was designed a while back and does not reflect today’s market values for the ingredients needed.
Every character I have has at least one 15 slot invisible bag in the bottom slot.
I keep my salvage kits, gathering tools, food, and potions in there as well as alternate weapons.
If I have alternate armor sets, I use a second invisible bag.
My prediction: You won’t see any upgrades to the Royal Terrace until the next time the Queen’s Pavilion opens up.
ANet wants to force people to level leatherworking to 500.
That’s the only reason I can think of.Or they just don’t know what they’re doing.
I welcome the use of the leather oversupply. My stock of seemingly worthless leather may soon find a new home.
Buying stuff that is very cheap can be a good long term investment plan, since you can’t lose much as there isn’t any room for it to fall (your losses will stem from listing fees).
Every once in a while, they decide to clean out the oversupply that is driving the value down so far and the demand spikes.
Obviously these things are going to be occupying inventory space, so if you have more profitable ventures going and need the space for those items don’t do this.
Its Monday here. No CDI yet?!
They are on the West Coast of the US, so they probably aren’t even open yet.

Also, always remember that ArenaNet will not warn you about an account action. They will simply ban/suspend your account and wait for you to reach out to them to reverse it.
you do realize that you can get all of those materials for free? scraping all of the bad loot that the bags give you are more than enough to get a ton of silk scraps.
~ the only bad thing about crafting those things is that if you don’t have any of them and since they’re ascended materials you’ll have to wait 23+ hours to craft 1 piece of it. you’ll need 15 days in order to get 15 pieces, which is why i absolutely hate crafting ascended things, it’s beyond stupid. if we have the materials, then let us just craft it, or at least let the cap be 5 items.
Even if you gather the silk yourself it’s not free. Don’t forget that you could have sold the silk for a hefty amount of coins.
That’s a good argument in the real world, but in a game having fun is the important thing which is why opportunity cost is only a concern for people who enjoy flipping items.
For people who are enjoying their time questing, clearing maps, doing events, and spending time with their friends, the materials really are free, because they get them for doing what they were going to do anyway.
You aren’t trading the lost possessions, you are returning them to the camp so the owner of the item can claim it. The item you get in return is a small “thank you” from the camp.
No moral dilemma here.
Is he only there between Lion’s Arch events?
Chantry of Secrets is the most likely culprit.
There are two fees which are listed when selling an item:
1. Listing Fee
2. Transaction Fee
The listing fee is charged up front when you post the item.
The transaction fee is charged when someone buys your item.
Both are listed on the Trading Post window, but I do agree that the “projected profit” amount is misleading since it does not factor in the transaction fee.
daily has a chance to give keys… I assumed monthly does too.
in the past year, I’ve got the majority of keys I’ve used in that time from daily chests. a close second is map completion (I don’t do map completion on my alts very often)
Are you sure about that? I’ve only ever gotten:
1 little bottle of Karma
1 Mystic Coin
1 luck essence
I do the daily almost daily.
You are buying a buff for the entire map, so the price is actually quite good, when divided by the number of people who can use it. Granted, the fact that you are paying for all of them means it doesn’t benefit you that much, but you know… being nice is… something… right?
Why do people call me an idiot because I use APs as a measurement of skill?
That’s a bit harsh, but the reason is that the VAST majority of achievements (and thus APs) do not measure skill at all but are simply a measurement of time spent doing specific activities.
You can do weightlifting for 30 years, but if you’ve got two people lifting the heavy parts for you every time you aren’t going to be any good at it.
With that kind of gold, he could have bought a legendary right off.
The more I look at that list, the more I wonder why anyone would ever buy a Key from the gem store.
I’ll stick to the rare map completion key from now on.
1. Lornar’s Pass/Brisban Wildlands (probably other Iron Ore areas as well)
2. Devona’s Rest
3. I’m usually online around 6-8 EST and they are always around when I am.
Teleporting onto nodes, usually in such a way that you cannot click on them to report them.
I’ve been doing some recent Iron Ore farming since it is profitable at the moment and apparently the bots have the same idea.
On a dead server like Devona’s Rest, they have a LOT of room to work without being seen by players.
I like the idea, but “Hero of Lion’s Arch” wouldn’t be a good title, what with the massive death and loss that was suffered.
How about “Savior of the Lost”?
The likelihood of a new class being available without the purchase of an expansion is pretty small as well. Since no expansion has been announced, a March timetable for a new class is inconceivable.
I feel really bad about skipping the new content, but in an effort to maximize my profits during this current iron boom I’ve just been out farming it.
Wait… how can you check on another player’s AP? I’ve been playing since launch and I didn’t know that was a thing.
I am only OK with mounts as follows:
1. No increase in speed.
2. No combat usage.
3. No increase in speed.
4. Must have craftable options.
5. No increase in speed.
6. Must be in achievement panel once acquired.
7. NO INCREASE IN SPEED!
If you were to buy the 500 keys today it would cost you:
1. 5293g75s00c If using Gold
2. $781.25 If using Cash
2a. If the gems bought with cash were converted to gold instead, you’d get 3825g00s00c
So the question is: Is it even possible to come close to recouping either 1. or 2a. in game gold through Black Lion Chests?
The answer appears to be a hearty “NO” (we’re probably talking thousands of gold in losses unless you get your ticket skins when they are 1 ticket each and hold them until they increase in value enough to offset) which leads into a second question: Are the non-saleable items worth the amount of gold you are losing?
That’s kind of a personal question that I leave up to you.
Just don’t make the mistake of buying Keys for any kind of financial reason. They are gambling, pure and simple, and the house — always — wins.
Most likely reasons:
1. She’s trying to access the ley lines in order to power something.
2. She’s trying to access the ley lines in order to feed something.
3. She’s trying to snap the ley lines in order to starve something.
4. She’s trying to access the ley lines because [something] is there already and she wants to reach it for [reasons].

You would get suppressed long before you are done mailing all those items!
I’ve had to bring back the ancient art of chain letters in order to handle buff distribution.
It is pretty annoying that I have to use a pre-internet communication technique in order to use an internet-based game. There should never be any message throttling for people who are in your party or guild.
I can understand that they are being thrashed right now with bug fixes, etc. due to the Living Story update, but boy are these postponements going to go over poorly with the Ranger players.
First, get your Leatherworking to 500, not your Armorsmithing. Much, much cheaper and backpieces are not limited by armor type (i.e. the backpiece made by a tailor can be worn by ANY class).
Second, you will need a lot of the account bound ascended materials. Start hitting those Jumping Puzzles, World Bosses, and Dungeons. I know you can get some in WvW, but you’ll need to expand your playstyle to get the quantities you need.
As for the costs involved: http://www.gw2crafts.net/leatherworking.html
