It is to my knowledge that traps may not be as good for pvp, since u can no longer throw them, meaning u need target to move at your feet.
After the june revamp patch the traditional longbow ranger has more variants and is quite a strong contender. Both LB/GS and LB/sword&dagger are viable options on a marauder amu (SPvP) or full zerker in WvW or with mix of either Knights/valk.
Traits makes much more sense now and it is harder to go with something that is “wrong”. Just read through em. Personally I love Beastly Warden which works great on bird pets and open up a new mechanic you havent seen before.

As others have said, axe shield n mace shield both pair well with greatsword on a zerker/marauder build, which is just as good in spvp/group play.
Personally I prefer mace n shield since with the shield master trait due to extra reflect and most of the times the shield CDs are back when most needed. This is much more durable than the old but yet popular amongst some; gs/hammer warrs, since hammer is so kiteable out of f1 and u need the defense.

A F2P account is more like a trial account in my opinion, just with unlimited playtime, more so once HoT is out and locked off from F2P.

Look at the lfg tool and join a silwerwastes chest farm map and stay there till profit achieved.

As others have said, GS 100 blades is great with another weaponset that provides CC to set it up. Personally I prefer Mace n shield as theres plenty of times to set up a stun into 100blades. During SPvP in group fights youll see many times where you can cast it into one or two players due to them being CCed by teammates. There are also occasions where you can use 100blades due to the enemy being in place, such as endure pain into stance 100b on a GS spinning guard or thief sitting in black powder, or sometimes 100 blades so they wont come near you from that angle. Just use ur imagination as you learn how other classes works.

This is untrue, dd ele on marauder is very strong, join dueling servers that lock out certain amus and ull see that theyre highly capable

What i hope they do with raids is to make em hard but not overly time consuming in one get go, much like their new daily change to fractals. Once u master the tough mechanics it could take 30min. Thatd be great and certainly open the content to playertypes that dont have several hours every night for it.

Killshot isnt 1500 range? But on a warrior asura it can be tricky to spot nonetheless, but it comes down to you having experience vs warriors, knowing/feeling when theyre going to do X. This is quite simple vs warriors as theyre easy to read by their “simplistic” mechanics. If you are unaware, class X will kill you, much like a rapid fire.

I do think you’re reading to much into this rifle damage, look at it from a different perspective as rifle doesnt really provide much else. It would be different if rifle had the same abilities like a greatsword with evasion, damage, mobility. Single target damage is what rifle is in a nutshell, but even then it’s not a great 1v1 wep vs a competent aware enemy.

I would boot a player if he doesnt dress properly. I always bring my Eternity.

What it comes down to is that we all want an equal fight. I would love a working system that makes it as fair as possible for both teams based on who is in queue. Like a soloer would be paired with other soloers or equal numbers in premades on both sides, like 1-2-2, 1-1-1-2. Premades of 2 or 3 will face a premade of equal number. A full premade wiøl face a full premade. This could ease both sides in favor or against soloq.

Im not trying to claim X content harder over the other, but on the topic of GvG, could a GvG enlightened individual write some lines as to why GvG is more skill based than SPvP (which is indicated further up by a GvG representative).
My narrow understanding from spectacting a few matches throughout the 3 yrs Ive been here, is that you sort of synergize classes with different roles n tasks in order to survive as a blob while chaining skills effectively into enemy blob. While this may require timing and knowledge, such high numbers as 15 20 in one team means (from experience) that it can be forgiving to the individual when mistakes are made – which is the quite opposite in SPvP where you relay more on personal skill and map awareness.

If one understands the definition on GvG, it could be easier to see why you want a larger arena

Yeah it is indeed a strange change, even if u were solo as usually u want enemies in melee so that u may hit em. If u eartshaker theyll be pushed away so u cant follow up with hammer #4 n #5. The berserker is just pure hybrid, Jack of all trades.

I just notice we’ll lose Shield master trait which is quite popular these days for non hammer warrs in PvP (from the traditional Power gs/hammer). That makes me very unsure as to its hybridness. The only good thing about berserker is to test out the headstun quickness with 14% more fero on 100b, but thats about it. That would mean Id probl have to go bk to gs/hammer, which i find subpar compared to x&Shield surviability.

I would also start finishing the personal story if you havent, and then finish living season 2 so that u have vanilla gw story done up to the expansion.

From a damage and lootbag perspective, which class would you say has the better possibility to tag players when facing off zerg vs zerg?

I recently tried a mortar engineer this weekend and it was crazy how easy I could tag 5 players just about every second, and often 5 different players from a safe 1500 range by aiming at our blue moving commander.

F2P here is not the same as F2P in other mmorpgs. When HoT comes, that will be the main focus for everyone that wants to progress their characters. If you dont have HoT, then you’re sort of excluded from the rest, and you’ll hinder yourself if you keep playing without. Not to mention the restrictions you have on your account. All in all it’s a fine balance between a trial accounts restrictions vs the vast vanilla content you can partake in.
This is a great chance to get more newcomers into the game.

Yes thats my opinion for a healthy GW2. The game is already very friendly and forgiving, it has much of that, but Anet wants it to cater to many playertypes which generally an mmorpg is all about. That’s how we see Growth, giving reasons for players to keep logging in. And we may currently have little “hard stuff” or something to work for, which my previous post provides a fine balance between.

Everyone is on an equal footing statwise, which means none is excluded, it comes down to your own will and skill. The latter is hardly needed currently, and now some chose to complain that they have to progress and work towards specific skins through X content. Their loss I say.

I think after 3 years these dungeons are tiresome and stale, we could use a new setting and mechanics, a continuation of the story. What I would love to see though, which is a bit OT, is a revamp of the zhaitan fight (to make it less meh for new players), and update in Orr zones to reflect your zhaitan kill – that it actually has an impact on the world.

Nobody is talking about “buffing” the dmg. The problem is that even if Evi is supposed to be a big risk big reward skill sometimes the reward really isn’t big at all when you do land it successfully. I’d rather get a range increase than a dmg range decrease. Eviscerate is stupid easy to dodge to start with, but now, it can’t even be called a “Gap closer” anymore because sometimes you can literally avoid it by walking away from the other player (with swiftness) unless he starts it practically within melee range. I still don’t understand why Eviscerate’s range got absolutely nuked when it was already an incredibly easy to dodge skill.

Because you know they love to QQ more than dodge or evade our attacks and that’s what we get. What i find about warrior is most of our attacks is like telling the enemy to dodge like “Hey i’m going to use Earthshaker” and ES is buggy oh wait Evi is to stronk i’m to lazy to dodge/evade it Anet please just nerf the damage so we don’t have to dodge that burst. And of course 100b QQ 40k damage wtf pls nerf while its not the warriors fault they eat the whole chain of 100b.

Reminds me of this dp thief I fought yday in a dueling server on my gs/m&sh warr. He was novice in playstyle though wouldnt admit it, and he kept getting stunned by my mace f1 and #2, basically I could land every chain on him, finishing the duels with 80%+ hp left. Then he kept on saying how OP my mace was. He ended the convo by saying he was going to reroll mesmer though.
And later on I fought a mesmer who claimed I had a 1v1 build since he kept on losing, he couldn’t see that we generally dont have much diversity in trait options, where everyone follows more the same lines.

It’s just those who guys who doesnt try to understand something, how they can improve, instead they call something out in frustration, and theyre the ones often heard since they scream the loudest.

Shame you didnt last it through the Levels. If u were just stickin it through till HoT u problably would’ve been more satisfied as mobs/PvE is “harder” there. In any case, GW2 stands out for many since it isnt like other traditional gir/contenttreadmill mmos. 80 will always be max Level, exo/asc is the best gear, and surely you would appreciate that comming from so many mmorpgs and surely is tired of the old mill.

Evis in wvw and evis in spvp is a totally different story, the request is for the spvp version where its very random/unreliable dmg wise

Come HoT I would like to try a berserker variant geared towards a viable combo between condi and power. What armor type should I go for that has been previously tested, I was looking at sinister being an option – thoughts? It adds power condi and crit which would be great for those zerg trains to tag lootbags with longbow, same would go for open world pve events where you would want to tag stuff.

I checked metabattle but its all about power there, so if you have any solid exp of hybrid/condi please do share.

There has to be a catch somewhere. If u were able to make multiple free accounts that means free 55 laurels monthly into t6 bags which is alot of gold. Somehow theyd have to exclude some content from the free version, though wvw could very well be open to free play so they can explore what the game has to offer.

Im not overly optimistic either comming from a pvp power pov. Di/St are mandatory, and for berserker i could spec into its defense. Utilities n elites could be good compared to stances, but what worries me the most is the berserker f1 abilities being subpar on a power build as their mechanics r hybrid. If they could fix some of our clunky movement skills so that we could connect it would be easier. For condi i can see some fun wvw/zerg aoe tagbuilds with lb/s&t.

So far the only names out of touch are dragonhunter and daredevil, rest are okay/good

I think skins should be allowed to “expire” over time, and never be re-introduced.

Limited edition skins encourage the creation of new skins, and encourage players to participate in content that rewards them rather than encouraging just hoarding gems or gold.

I’d much rather see a GW2 five years down the line in which many players have skins that are no longer avaliable than one where every skin can be picked up by every player, as it makes the appearance of characters much more unique.

Path of Exile does this on a regular basis and it’s one of their primary funding models that allows them to offer so much content for free, and it’s pretty awesome to run in to veteran players with skins you just can’t get any more. It’s a nice reward for those veteran players to show how long they’ve been around, and adds incentive for the developer to keep developing cool skins so new players have a lot of cool options.

There’s nothing worse than an MMO in which everyone looks the same, or one without legitimate collectibles.

If ur worried about potentially wasting on it then i would say save ur resources for a new legendary. Dagger def has its place in pvp both power longbow (and melee variant) and condi. For pve def not.

I wouldn’t like to see any buff on Ranger. Being farmed from extreme range while being harassed by attack drones isn’t fun. Rangers also have pretty rapid stealth, a speed signet and strong CC.

No, I’d oppose buffs of any kind to Ranger unless it came with a healthy nerf to the longbow and a reduction in range.

What I highly dislike is the fact that hammer f1 knocks my target further away, usually I use it as a gap closer as we all know warrs gets kited – and now the target is knocked away and out of reach of our cc follow ups/damage.

I never tried any serious PvE attempts on my ranger against dungeon bosses, but looking at metabattle, how sub par are we if we run the highest DPS spec compared to other classes, such as thief or warrior? I have them both and they can do some sick damage, thief for example with CnD into backstab.. the CnD alone is like a Rapid fire in total or more and it happens in a split second without the cd of RF. Are we rangers way behind in terms of DPS, has there been any rough calculations?

Aquiring a legendary was meant to be a journey, hence the lengthy process. It was meant to be a prestigious item, which it was in the beginning 2013/2014, but now one can just purchase one if you have the coin.
There isnt any other way to make it a time consuming journey, hence your feeling of grind since you want the item now. At least in the expansion new legendaries will be non tradable and you have to do quests in order to unlock them – unlike spirit shards which is a system favoring those who have played the longest/veterans.

Somehow i would be greatly surprised if they were to release new types that already has a popular counterpart like the greatswords. My bet is theyll first release new ones that will easily replace the more clownsy ones like pistol mace bows.

It’s the same as in any other case where there’s no consequences from your actions. Some ppl use it to their benefit.

Of course some of it can has to do with bad game design, theres no pure one reason why someone gets frustrated, and much easier so if said person is already a jerk.

There will always be bad people out there, and sometimes even to the best of us, one of them will get to u. But thats how the world goes, sadly in here we have little options to deal with them (as they cant be reasoned with) so all u can do is block them and try not to let urself be taken away too much. With that said theres alot of valid concerns and frustration towards Anet spvp game design that has been stagnant over years, which makes blood boil and have its effect on these bad people.

Tbh I dont find the other traits in Sk that useful other than quickdraw, but to utilize that u need to be focused on to switch weapons (if ur longbow). Nm/Ws/Bm is the better overall if ur full glass lb, but most of us solo roam mid/higher tier where Nm could be replaced with Mm (enlargement, steady focus, lead the wind) which offers great dmg when properly positioned and there r always times when u can freecast a little. With that Mm variant u can still beat most 1v1, but like i said earlier Nm is better when figthing onpoint over time/getting focused by several.

Looks good on paper but it may still have its flaws as we see with traditional melee warr gameplay where u cant keep up vs ranged/kiters like ele/mes/meta

Rangers are durable If you want to see some clips from a power variant you could check my sig for some games and playstyle. Depending on what type of player you are, one way is to stick with a class that has a gameplay you like, and every class should always have at least one spec that is favored in PvP.
