One bird type has chill as default F2, the other has blind as default. When specd into beastmastery u can also make it so that ur pet F2 also adds blind, weakness and ofc taunt, and birds are popular since their F2 are more reliable and can be used every 15th sec (and their F2 is a heavy power attack).

and I did a PvP match today where one disconnected and we lost 4v5!

As long as there isnt a punishing/controlling system by Anet that prevents such action/behavior, players will keep doing this as theres no risk/downside other than bad morale (which for many mean squat).

You REALLY need to work on those “Zerg” and “WP if dead” problems.

This will never change as long as events are like this “spawn x mobs to kill” without any other effort required.

Two different questions:

Since both weapon swap and legend swap are tied to their own 9 sec cd, would it make any difference what weaponset you’re in? Like for a shiro/herald power rev, does it have any favor being in sword shield in shiro over herald, or do you just swap weapons depending on the situation at hand/available cds?

Also, are there any legends that have used a greatsword in gw1? Heres hoping for a GS elite spec someday…

Dont think that will ever happen, what would be more possible (which they have done to an extent) is to add more pet types as they release new maps. We really need more variety but also meaningful/impactful F2s.

I would love a stonehead variant (dinosaur) that is immune to frontal damage, With AA’s that are cone and can hit up to 5 targets (but with same damage as bear Will make it a strong choice for PvE open world tagging + WvW zerging.

I am warrior. Comparing this taunt to Fear me, we can use this fear me 1 time per 46sec but i saw that they, rangers, actually be able to spam this taunt. Almost 1time per 20sec something? And it was unblockable. thay’s why i thought taunt is op.

But you cant compare them, two different classes and mechanics, or maybe you want to homogenize classes? Lets give everyone a 45 sec stun, a 30 sec knockdown and so forth. And the definition of spam on wiki for games is using an action/skill repeatedly. Is using an ability every 15th sec with often 2-5 sec execution time regarded as spam?

Because the berserker is an illusion and is glorified but not functional, u push em away with ur gap closer so that u can take some more beating, cuz u take it to the face like a real man

I think its also a poke towards Anet for only potentially having 1 BWE to test Druid, which is not optimal considering the amount of tweaks other earlier Elite specs are needing and given.

there is no real setup involved to this. the pet is on the target, when you activate taunt can other than trying to figure out what the ranger is gonna do next, not be preditced or dodged. the canine f2 skills were always strong when used right but there was at least counter play to them. this cannot be said for taunt as there is no real counterplay which is unhealthy for the game. i know rangers can need every little bit of help but at least in a fair way.

But there is a setup to land taunt, I’ll repeat myself. The pet is trying to chase it’s moving target but it cant continously keep up. Even in my own vids theres plenty of footage where the pet is trying to connect but theres downtime on its AA’s because “human movement” > AI movement. Sometimes, due to poor AI, your pet is litterarly circling/stopping before it changes its direction based on target. This is downtime. Sometimes you also have to move your pet from you to your target which also prevents “Instant cast”.
The pet can also die from aoe/damage which prevents taunt usage and locks it out for 1 minute.

Other times taunt lands smoothly, which means within a few seconds from pressing F2. Other times it doesn’t because the target has stability, which is a Counter, which is something you claim doesnt exist. Theres a setup, risk, and counter to it.

taunt is pretty much broken, going through evades, blocks, blinds and has no casting time/animation while being on a cooldown of 15s. many rangers try to defend this trait because it makes them feel like they can be good with it because it removes the need of actually having to land your pet immobs or knockdowns to burst. rangers should get buffs but not stuff like this that angers the whole rest of the community.

This explains my previous post, that theres a setup involved to land it which justifies its “Instant cast” once the bird pet connects (since every other pet but cans cant land it properly). In any event, it’s not the saving grace, its just a CC many chose to complain about because anger management.

Again as said further up, sometimes more accurate F2 pets like birds are circling around/after the target in wierd paths due to the enemy movement. But most of all cuz of poor AI. During this theres a lot of downtime, not to mention birds are fragile and can easily die when subject to focus/aoe damage over seconds, which denies taunt. I’m not buying the “taunt is OP” rant when every class has something, and in this case taunt is not 100% reliable. We also have yet to hear feedback from devs stating it’s working as intended going through blocks/certain evades.

My little feedback is that AP is the one thing that makes a difference between a new player and a vet. Its a nifty little thing GW2 has which I think its cool, a nice way to see n reward whos been with the game for long. On the other side I dont like AP having to much focus/impact on the masses, like it shouldnt really differentiate players or change the way masses sees a player (like some does for dungeon requirements, but thats a different story).

Isnt such regarded as disturbance of public order? LA is a meeting ground for all nations and is no place for such quarrelsome activity!

A bit offtopic, but does RF not track anymore? Ive only done 1 spvp match since last patch in this beta and in the match it doesnt seem to track (once target stealths my RF just shoots in a straight line, and when target reappear it has same/more hp).

The term overpowered is being thrown around so much one can wonder if in most cases it cuz the accuser dont understand how mechanics work, or how to set it up :/

I can’t make the class work , all the skills have a lot cooldown and so little utility compared to other classes , the pet seems useless and weak once u use the F2 , i thought that ranger it was going to be for me since i like a lot pet classes. but ranger was a deception for me .

If you are talking about the traditional longbow ranger then perhaps the deception was that you didnt know when and how to properly position/move, and when to LB #3 #4. Often vs competent players sometimes you need to turn 180 and run for some seconds to create that distance, as that will be your “utility defense” in that scenaro – otherwise you’ll run out of actual utility skills. It’s better to lose some downtime on auto atacks vs the potential kill damage the enemy can do to you when they set up their burst.
A lot of pets have unreliable F2s that doesnt connect as easily, birds or bird / wolf is a good combo paired with Beastly Warden trait for defense or to set up burst with LB #2. The LB can be clunky to use and sometimes your own abilities can be interrupted due to you not properly facing the enemy.

Its kinda funny and sad that its the doom threads that get so much attention and last longer, rather than just dying quickly not spreading its lies

Only you can answer if warrior is your thang. It comes down to what playstyle you like, what you want to focus on ingame and how good/competitive. Class balances shifts with patches, though not as rapidly, gw is very alt friendly so many tend to eventually swap around. I can say though that warrior can be fairly straightforward and clear to understand, which could be in your favor. It’s a solid jack of all trades if you take all types of content into consideration. It’s not unwanted.

Another way to do it is to browse youtube and see how the classes play in the content you like.

Maybe the druid will make us accepted for raids!

I’m consistently not even denting reaper. That’s stupid. This whole idea needs a huge rework/nerf. I spent most of the last match trying to hurt a reaper and never managed to visibly reduce his health pool. ( and got top player for condition damage dealt )

Thats just exaggeration on your part. Not doing a dent vs someone means you arnt inflicting damage. Maybe you need to look at what you’re actually doing, while also understanding the Reaper mechanics – such as Rise that adds minions that makes him immune over time depending on damage taken. It would make more sense if you were trolling just now.

I managed to fight em all as glassy LB/GS but guess we’ll have to give it some more time till numbers are tweaked and people are fully learning how to play their ES. I can see how a good reaper can be hard to get away from if you let them stay on you, especially if you dont use your cleanses right. I found it more beneficial to often turn around and run away (kiting) and inbetween their cds LB #1&2 as it is more devastating letting them get close to your for chills, unlike other classes, you just cant sit in melee vs a good reaper.

Vs shiro/herald rev it also hurts if the fight prolongs since I had to save my dodges/lightning reflex/GS #4 for their sword #2. I dont know how a rev works but that type didnt seem to have much mobility, and it was a pain in the kitten to try and down one :P

Could u be more specific please of what you want to accomplish? I see you shake your first at season 2 living world, but much of that “challanging” content is based of mechanics with a pattern you need to overcome – which is highly possible/ideal for a renown ranger (berserker).
Vanilla GW2 open world content is pretty much tank and spank, but living world 2 stands a bit out since you need to think/be aware of your sorroundings a bit more, in order to progress. Being tanky in those scenarios wont always help you, and in some cases could mean you deal less damage and having to sit in those phases longer. If you understand the mechanics you can counter them with your active defenses/abilities while doing high damage.

Ranger is a highly soloable class, like any other class, it comes down to your prefered playstyle. If longbow (berserker) isnt your thing, maybe try a condition build focused more on axe and torch.

One can only hope HoT brings a few different pet types, preferably some bigger looking ones with useful and reliable f2.

If you enjoy Power builds then go full berserker (Power prec ferocity), theres little use going anything else currently. You’ll see plenty of defense comming from your active abilities once you get into it. Mayeb spec into beastmastery and pick up pets that can support you, like the bear in case you want to tank champion mobs.

Ranger is the most unreliable profession of all.

The easiest to play – the most difficult to master.
And even if you put 5 times the effort into your play – ele will just right-click the mouse to outDPS you.

If you want efficiency – this class is not for you. If you want challenge – that is the only reason to play this class.
For challenging content you never needed 50 bucks to buy HoT.
You just needed a Ranger.

In my opinion I dont find us the most difficult to master, by a long(range)shot :P We have, like the warrior, quite easy to understand/straight forward mechanics. But I guess one could say it is quite important, the glassier your longbow build is, the more important it is to always have proper positioning/movement between you/pet and your targets, as your skillset alone wont save you. If you misuse LB #3 and #4 (and they can sometimes be a bit buggy) you’re more likely sc#&4ed. Again, from a PvP perspective of course.

Theres little incentive in picking up rifle for competitive play, like how many rifle warrs do you see, and how well do they compete? You also lose a mandatory trait if you pick up the pierce trait. It’s not like that 6k in itself, which takes some momentum to build up, will kill any aware opponent.

The thief skill is an Elite and backbreaker only a weapon skill, though.

Then add a chain after Rampage that lasts for 5 seconds to be used, finishing the enemy in 1.50 seconds.

I fully support controlled open world dueling. Those against it are just soar and conservative, and a hinderance to the games content growth.

The berserker has many more issues which u can read about in the warr forum. Currently the ES and its utilities doesnt bring much alternatively in a pvp setting, whereas the old warr just does it better. Cant wait for em tweaks to come!

Im an outsider in all of this, but many in here dont seem to want to understand cuz they arent tolerant and are at a point where theyre roadraging and not thinking clearly. This sort of attitude is what makes spvp toxic. Stop trying to look too much into Nemesis personality but rather the points he make as they are indeed valid if you look at gw2s community as a whole, not just ur premade or guild.

Either I (we) need more time to fully develop our skills/combos or I just dont see myself going berserk/def/disc on a power warrior in pvp :/ It just felt too.. hybrid, whereas the traditional power warrior does it better with fewer hits. Hopefully Im wrong and there is a way!

But what his point?

- Necromancer don’t have that much less dps than other profession while using an Icebow? We already know that.

- Necromancer have a 8k dps compare to the Warrior 12k in group settings? We already know that.

- Pre buffs is usually not a good idea overall unless you can’t attack the boss right away? I agree with that point.

- Warrior have a lot less dps in solo situation. The DPS difference between necro and warrior in that situation are marginal.? We know that already.

The thing is Nemesis try to beat the meta with DPS numbers and continue to say that Meta is only about DPS DPS. But still, the Necromancer isn’t push out of the meta because of his dps, but because of his support. If DPS was the only thing important, Mesmer would not be part of the meta.

Actually parts what I understood is that randoms now think the Meta is all about certain classes going zerk, not understanding that they arnt going to achieve meta since they dont go icebow (lol), and that they often overextend by pillar hugging n doing stuff that makes the dungeon runs longer – while also dying due to their squishyness as zerks – and that class x has viable/competable weapon variants beyond what metabattle/wiki claims. Meaning he didnt say it was all about the DPS, which the zerk meta is all about.

I have a feeling once ppl start learning stuff itll be back to all zerk or condi since we have so many different ways of defending ourselves rather than only pure armor/healthpool tank n spank mechanic other mmos got. But itll be fun to see how it pans out!
