This was uncalled for and shows lack of respect. I get it that Anet can change stuff to their liking but in this case it would be nice with some transparency. A legendary item is for most a type of endgame progression that is immensly costly and forces us to prioritize. This item is on par with any ascended, easily obtainable, weapon. That means we chose our legendary solely based on looks and sounds, and when this is altered by devs in such significant ways it’s really frustrating as it feels they dont care about the work done on our part, the customers.

I see people keep using the WoW model reference regarding GW2s direction, but thats far from the truth. Mmorpgs are all about progression, and we have plenty of permanent progression here. Other WoW like mmos have temporary progression such as continously adding new stat tier gear, new levels, and this is the sole purpose to stay competitive and partake in activities. That makes it extra time consuming and tedious. We only have to go through this once by reaching level 80 and exo/asc wespon/gear. It’s refreshing to finally.have new content types other than the way Anet has implemented living world the last years, that could’ve gotten tedious for some, and have for many.

You didn’t die to the ranger with stacks of might, in fact you laughed at the builds they ran because they didn’t make sense, you saw quickness and might and immediately grabbed the nearest salt shaker and pored it on yourself because when you died your literally thought it was “op”
petty
I give you a 8/10 for the intro! Da capo!

I wish you had read my post at the start, it would have saved you writing all that out, its pretty much the same.

That’s kinda crazy though to be so OP that you are beyond it. Must be a first time in GW2’s history.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
It’s an intended change now that we can get quickness on We Heal as One OP skill. Adapt or roll over, which shouldn’t be a problem for us “real ranger mains”.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
I think itll go smooth, itll be like any other living story releases. What could go more wrong though is some bugs in the new zones due to little testing
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
Everyone’s opinion are equally valid as long as they provide excellsior. Personally Ive played all 8 classes throughout my time here and it has certainly broadened my view on classes, such as ranger. It makes it possible to easier provide insight from different angles, which could mean better judgement.

It should be level 55 like Death Knights with its own story instance from the past, where parts is from the Mists and how you make it out from there.

Itll be fun to see how the celestial avatar works on a traditional lb gs ranger, it could basically be like a free third weaponset/semi deathshroud in some ways depending on how effective ur healing is on a marauder amulet. I would def try MM BM druid as the condi clear in WS can be covered with druid, making us less dependant on wilderness knowledge trait for survival skills. Potentially more durable 1v1/onpoint, but we’ll see.
Im also very excited to see the new pets useful/responsiveness

I also agree that sword aa shouldnt be a ranged atk, its more of a hinderance

Welcome back, ranger is in a better spot now than before. With the right traits u can be fairly defensive on a full berserker gear, so that u may use the same gear in pve/dungeons too. I got some footage in my chan if u want to look at 1 or 2 longbow variants.

Warr is martial arts and usually the skills r meant to look more practical than flashy like a mesmer or ele. Maybe this is why u feel this way. The berserker spec should tend to ur needs though

Hello!
Anybody?!
You do know that real people are at the end of these keyboards.
My wife is a nurse and has/will miss all the beta events because those weekends she has/had to work. She has tried to trade shifts or get them off but was unable.
Wanting to show her full support, she purchased the 99$ version, and for what?
Thanks again for ignoring the real people that made this game what it is today.
P.S
Support nurses, they support you.
With that kind of attitude dont expect any support from here

I can’t help but think that substituting actual RPG mechanics for action mechanics is console-y and actually pretty pathetic. All I’m saying is, even in it’s currently severely dumbed-down state, WoW has:
Attack Power
Spell Power
Intelligence
Stanima
Armor
Avoidance
Strength
Dexterity
Mastery
Versatility
Haste
Multistrike
Crit
Spirit
Dodge
Block
ParryAs far as I can tell, at least for my Thief, GW2 has:
Precision
Power
Armor
VitalityIn addition, I have a very simple 2-key rotation (auto-attack and heartseeker). Using the blind + heartseeker combo to get into stealth seems to be a clunky and expensive way to get a little bit of stealth. It also takes quick and accurate mouse action to accomplish in a useful manner.
Both GW2 and WoW have many stats, just open the hero panel in GW2, equipment tab, and you’ll see lots of stats on the right side. Many of those stats you listed from WoW are incorporated in GW2, like Haste you mentioned could be the same as Quickness for instance.
It just comes down to what class you are playing, what weapon sets, gear, utility skills and traits. This determines your playstyle. In general a thief is quite squishy, and much of its traits makes up for that in evasion, like more dodge, blind debuffs to prevent you from taking hits, and stealth + your own positioning during combat to effectivise your gameplay. This “feeling” you dont get as a newcomer around here, you need to spend more time, learn every class/encounters and then you’ll see why GW2’s combat for many is superior amongst other MMORPGs.

I was thinking of making a big muscular rev char. If i were to pick between a male sylv or human, which one can be tallest in size? Their body types are a bit different yes?

I just finished watching a recording from twitch about the anet guys saying that the new precursor crafting will involve items gotten only from PvP. I’ve never done any PvP in this game in the more than 3 years I’ve been playing it. I never wanted to. I never liked PvP in the original GW because I’m at a loss when it comes to gaming skill and latency issues. Being behind the 8-ball like that drives people away, and making stuff that’s only obtainable through PvP when they don’t like that mode leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
I understand what they said about mastery of the game in all its aspects, but making people do a mode of gameplay that they don’t want to do to obtain something they really want isn’t the way to go about it. I remember something about ‘play your own way’… I guess that slogan got lost a while back.
But this is something pvpers face much more often than pvers, a welcome change. This is the essence of the mmorpg, doing vast contents.

Standard qq post where the guy uses inaccuracy to bolster the cause. Lets use the word ‘spam’ rampage in fights which has a 144 cd if traited. Rampage can be strong if you cds r down, but thats not rampage or the warriors fault, this is a game of cds afterall.

Cause Druid has so much aoe stab to stop all the CC out there.
Am I right?Exactly.
Just tried to explain this to them in two other threads. And we try to explain again and again that we don’t say “druid so stronk pls nerf”, but we question why ranger got copies of guard traits/spells and has the improved version of our tomes that some wanted back badly.
But maybe the druid didnt get copies of guardian skills/traits? Anet wants every class to provide something in different roles, the druid did not have its role previously as ranger. If a guardian would have similar healing ways and output like the druid, ontop of the guardians already strong boon application, then guard would be favored as the master of all trades. But i totally get that we all see and want different things.

This feels 1000% more like a new EOTM map than a new wvwvw map.
And dont you dare saying it is the same thing.. it isn’t.
It feels like ANET is removing wvw from game and replacing it by EOTM 1.0 and now EOTM 2.0
sad
Whats sad is despite your best efforts, none of your words can be considered as any feedback as theres no info in it other than hurt feelings.

I think many of us are playing multiple classes, even though we dont want to admit it, where one would just jump between a few classes considered as main. Ill probl roll a rev and main it for a while, should druid feel lackluster. Somehow I have a feeling, or a hope, that theyve been secretly improving the ranger mechanics like pets, but we’ll see.

I hate that end boss NPC in the snow fractal that keep saying “feel your weakness” or something, he keeps saying it every darn time he comes down.. thought they would tone him down already :P
Another thing that breaks my immersion is how everything is so pretty out there, but yet we cant duel one another.. yea a topic to be discussed elsewhere.

Another game on my warr where we got outmanoeuvred by a full premade, at least 3 4 of them were in the same party. Sure we had two thieves, but still enemy team had their coordination and us being PuGs had people giving up early. Stuff like this kills it for those who are new and start to experience the other side of the coin. Surely Leagues will fix it, Colin? If PvP truly is growing in population, surely one could afford ranked soloq again. Till then theres really no room for us who are not in a position, time wise, to form/join teams.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
Gold also comes from RNG, like champ chests etc that gives u a random great skin on occasion, which is the same for pvp

I joined my first fractal yesterday after 2 years absence. The fault was in me not properly reading the full lfg text, as my class was not wanted. Right after zoning and about to ping my gear, I was kicked and left a little confused. I went on to ask the group leader in whisper politely, only to find out he had then blocked me. I then whispered the second on the list and he told me that the other guys who were guildies were tense and he was afraid to speak up since he too was an outsider. The whole event gave me a giggle, but these are dire times!

Ill be using the mistward pants for sure, it’s very cape like something us non Norn heavies lack. Maybe pair it with the mistward chest, but Ill try to mix and match the other slots with different armor. I dont like being to spikey, and Im not into one sided shoulder pieces.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
Yeah that will boost the Revs mobility, especially out of combat mobility.

My prepping is for the most part toying around with a Charr to see if I can learn to like the model/race. Im a bit tired of always using the standard human-like models, and a rev Charr slamming the ground with a hammer looks quite cool (but not so much a staff imo as it feels more like a finesse weapon whereas Charr is brute force). There is just something that is awkward to me watching a big cat on two feet running while wielding something, I need to change this view somehow.

The current system is making the player base smaller by the minute.
While I’ll let the PvP team respond to the other points here, I do want to take a moment and address this:
PvP has steadily grown in population and play hours going on nearly a year now. It’s sky-rocketed since the game went free, and the two weeks before this have been our best weeks literally since the week the game launched. We anticipate this week will be the best week login/play wise PvP has ever had in the history of Gw2.
I don’t want to trivialize your points – and our competitive team has some great reasons why things operate the way they do they’ll lay out and explain in relation to leagues soon: I do want to call out you’re using false population data to support your point.
From an ArenaNet perspective, PvP is the fastest growing part of Gw2 and had more success for us as a business in the last year than it’s had by far in the history of the Guild Wars franchise. Next year is going to be even bigger because of that success.
I’m really proud of the work the team has done and the work our amazing player community who has helped grow competitive PvP just as much as our dev team has and would hate to see that lost in this discussion.
-CJSo wait.. Population is booming, yet solo queue was taken away because of low numbers? Hmm me thinks someone somewhere gave us false information.
Hear ye, hear ye!

OP judging by the way you write one can tell you are unfamiliar with the ranger skills. I would suggest making one to gain insight. More specifically is your comment regarding the melee ranger, each build regardless of class has its figthing style, which makes the game interesting through vast differences. A melee ranger’s strength lies in evasion (super speed like mobility) and is balanced around dealing damage in melee range, it would be OP if it did same damage at range as well. If you know the animations of said evasion skills you can cc when it just ends. But it requires quick reaction on your part. Yes the ranger can escape, but at least it didnt kill you.
You got to admit it though, class homogenization is a no no (everyone has the same speed, a 30 sec stun, a knockdown, etc)

I didnt know I was a prepper till I realized we can use hammer.. my juggernaut legendary hammer has been collecting dust for so long now

Im noob when it comes to rev, do they lack switfness application? I know herald can apply some short duration swiftness + the 50% boon duration

For many GW2 is a stable pillar in the now uncertain AAA MMORPG genre. This kind of game survives by catering to many playergroups to keep them comming back each day, week or month.
What stands on top, in my opinion, is how Anet handled account and character progression. Regardless if level was a right thing to implement or not, level 80 will always be max, exotic or ascended is always the best gear, there is no different stat for PvE or PvP it’s all the same, shared loot and “equal” rewards, in general players have a much easier time being on an equal footing, “regardless” of playtime/investment. Once you get “there” you’re set for life.
Other games chose to do a 180 with such decisions, but that gets old fast, it’s boring and tedious having to constantly get new gear, new levels, rince and repeat of the old mill. GW2 makes it possible for many to enjoy the game at their own phasing.
What Anet needs more of is the competitive scene, and looks like HoT is getting some of it but remains to be seen how well it is implemented. Anet has their vision of how they want to design their game, we have ours, and both parties can be either right or wrong in their judgement depending on the reading glasses. When we have something we always want change or what we have or new things. GW2 will never be the perfect AAA MMORPG but such a game will never exist and this game survives by being unique.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
If you want to be truly competitive with Leagues, the way Anet designed it, one must form up teams (premades) and then it is up to each team to evaluate if their members are fully fulfilling their roles. That way one can progress as a team which is needed to beat other teams, which is of great benefit compared to teams consisting of soloers/duos/tripples where it may factor more on individual skill (where you dont know who youll end up with in your pug group).
As soloers this system will always hinder you (though potentially less if you farm alot of games to overcome loss ratio), so if you want to overcome this obstacle, forming a team is the way, much like the effectiveness premades have in “high end” Dungeon/fractal runs compared to randoms in LFG tool.

I just hope they add a cinderella staff skin so that I may finally enjoy my daredevil
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
I’d say it’s just a personal preference thing, though Remorseless is better in PvE as it also affects your second weaponset. For PvP I always go with Lead the Wind, just a better quality of life feat and makes you able to sit in Longbow for longer as those extra few seconds reduced on skills can make a difference. I also go steady focus as there are always times when solo ranked that you’re able to freecast for some secs and gain that % benefit.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
I also usually see 1 ranger on each team, sometimes two :o RNG is everywhere.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
Actually it’s RNG’s fault and Zommoros or w/e you spell his name!
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
Mace Shield/Greatsword or Axe Shield/Greatsword on marauder amulet. For prolonged fights 1v1 Hammer/Greatsword falls short since once your Hammer F1 is out you get kited/damaged. Sure you could beat the average guy, but vs competent players it doesnt (unless you wanted to burn all your hammer skills at once and then pop Rampage..). The first weaponsets is definitely worth trying out with shield master trait, it does wonders imo.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
As others have already said, please consider updating the melee staff animations and the way it is being wielded (which is exactly like a hammer currently). Look at the internet for inspiration/fighting styles to implement here, making the daredevil fun and fluid in gameplay rather than reusing old animations meant for other weapons/shovel.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
Sounds like an assassin warrior variant, build used to work pretty well in an older meta. Main point of the build was to flurry then hundred blades. Hammer/Greatsword has more use in this meta.
Hammer greatsword is glorified, it had its days before the june patch revamp since you could more often use the CC chains hammer provided, whereas now those optimal trait options are gone and once F1 is on CD you’re kited and eat damage. It could do well when supported in a premade setting though, but many run solo in ranked and it just doesnt cut it.
Sword/shield and GS works, but axe or mace over sword also works great. Both are great for 1v1 and smaller fights play as you can keep the pressure/defense up when switching from GS, a momentum you easier lose with hammer on your own vs competent foe.
But this is just my experience!
