At least they got one thing right that makes them stand out against the masses: a max level and endgame gear that doesnt progress with updates. Thats a main concern for many gamers that have played mmorpgs for a long time, that old wheel is gone.

Thanks I didnt know about the barrage part. I went with SotW since Im sort of full glass, I wanted that extra prec and fero, and why not just take the extra damage and 1 stack of stab for the opener. I also try to outrange condis the best I can while not being too much of a hinderance for the team. It may not be ideal, but just trying it out atm.

most ppl don’t like Ranger because they don’t know the basics of how to play the game:

- They don’t LoS
- They don’t know that you can’t just stay on the node against certain classes
- They don’t change up their builds in any way against certain classes
- They rotate the wrong builds to battle against certain builds

Becuase of these reasons and because the PowerRanger is so dependant on the right MU’s and the right Map, we see barely any PowerRangers at the Top level.

But I think with the addition of the new specializations, the PowerRanger could be on top of the Meta. Especially because of much stronger interrupts, which will give him an added strength in teamfights, which he is currently lacking (cuz he has barely any support/utility besides the very strong ult)

Tipp: Use piercing arrows instead of the longer range on any Map thats not foefire – It’s soooo much better!

Ill give piercing a try sometime, but I guess I then might have to tweak the pure glass from 6/6/2. I could be wrong but i feel if given the opportunity, the extra 300 range and what you can do in that time also weights up for it.

Judging by ur mentality OP, go greatsword + hammer traited 00626 with zerker amulet and pack runes. This works just fine. I made a 1v1 video about it, works to an extent in group fights as long as u watch your sorroundings and have an understanding of your opponents are capable of and how the fight evolves. A decent point roamer.

Yeah… you’re literally just spamming your buttons when they’re off CD. Not exactly play anyone should idolize. Whirlwind Attack only ticking once, using Earthshaker into his shelter and aegis and actually just plain missing it once (unless you swapped to hammer to use earthshaker as a gap closer… in which case lol), using rush at point blank a second after the guardian used his invuln, dodging nothing randomly…

There were more fights than just the guardian that u were commenting on in the beginning. I make mistakes, as stated in the video description because I was new to the class, and sorry for not being an expert of all other class mechanics, I didnt know I would have to go on about that
It does however showcase the GS/Hammer warr potential during the fights as the opponents are capable, and once again I am deeply sorry for hurting your feelings.

I’ve been playing GW2 on and off since release, and have at least a basic knowledge of all classes. The last month I’ve been maining the ranger and have found love for the power variant 6/6/2/0/0 (Longbow / Greatsword) in SPvP. While this build variant in higher tier SPvP isnt necessarily capable on its own and/or could be better replaced by X class, it has its place in mid tier where the majority roam.
I am also intrigued to play this build as during my 300ish SPvP matches this year on varying classes, it seemes as if there could be some negative expectations amongst players towards this build.

I do not consider myself an expert of the class (I say this as I do not master all weaponsets), but I’ll be uploading youtube videos periodically regardless of interest, and hopefully I’ll be able to provide some material that could cater to the beginner or average power ranger. What I hope to highlight as I improve is the power ranger’s capabilities and how to be team-effective from a PuG standpoint, as your own decisions could have a major impact on the game. The aim is to upload varied videos to keep things fresh and showcase encounters on different maps and classes.

Ideally this build is a midpoint defender from range, while also being able to support home depending on the map and travel distance. Success is highly based on positioning and using the environment to your advantage. Ideally the build requires a friendly in the fray as it cant handle more than one competent opponent, so that the majority of its utilities can be used for defensive purposes.

The longbow skills are clunky to use when close to ur target, but idk if thats as intended. I think we all have felt frustration when ur character is slightly not facing its target and ur #2 #3 #4 is activated without actually doing its dmg/purpose., and u burned a cd :P

Maybe u could add if ur in EU or US, and what u wish to focus on during your travels in Tyria (i.e PvE PvP or PvX player), that should narrow it down and peek interest!

Id rather hold onto karma in case hot expansion opens up any possibilities

Well as a thief I don’t mind the channeling. What really grinds my gears is that the channeling follows you. So if you channel me you know where I am at all times because your character automatically adjusts to me which kind of defeats the purpose of stealthing in the first place. But oh well, If they do this I guess everyone and their dog will complain about how OP thief is.

Rapid Fire is OP. But since its the only decent source of damage for longbow ranger most people don’t complain and think this is acceptable.

And yet any competent thief should be able to beat a glass LB ranger, and the only situation Rapid fire is complained about is when the ranger is full glass.

That is true but there are no (at least I can think of) builds/classes that have an effective PvP 66XXX build as the ranger due to lacking a rapid fire burst with enough utility in same weapon. It may harm this perticular build, or at least have an impact.

I was just thinking, right now im pewpew with 66200 with help from 300 power, prec and fero from those traitlines. Once they do the revamp theyll balance stats out, while removing those stats, so that everyone will gain a little bit more of everything, but still i dont think us power rangers will be back to where we were (also losing the 5% dmg from eagle trait) which whould affect TTK PvP/WvW.

I would really dislike such a change. Any competent player would be dodging that skill, and theres more weight to rapid fire being a channeled skill putting pressure on enemy and possibly giving us some extra secs

I read somewhere that champion bags (and other types of bags) will at some point drop a new currency, possibly the currency that will replace skill points. My question is, should I save my champion bags now to get possibly lots of this, or just keep opening them? As these bags I could open or save drops scrolls of knowledge anyway, which I assume will be replaced with said currency.

I dont think it sucks but it def require a different playstyle and mindset. We can be so squishy so it is important to stay ahead before enemy makes an opener that could be hard to come back from. If you check my chan ill be uploading some games from now on ranger pov, and while its not higher tier it should showcase role and possibilities. The key is positioning and knowing when to disengage in a manner that doesnt burn all your defensives at once.

When ur stealthed and not in range of backstab, spamming it wont take u out of stealth. Same applies to aegis block effect, it doesnt take u out?

This may be of little concern but I noticed that Anet at some point moved the waypoint in queensdale that was below the apple farm at north west, and moved it over at the northside of the apple farm. On the wiki the old waypoint still shows on the complete map, not updated.

Ive always been fond of the necro being a sack of meat that takes a good pounding.

It’s funny how i cant burst someone down with rapid fire if my target, regardless of class, is actually competent and pays attention. Each class can build for a role. Dont expect to “win” if you’re build is made around zerg play, whereas that ranger might be focused on burst (and not nec 1v1 once he gets focused). It’s like saying “I cant burst that ele down cuz he heals up so fast/tanky” without bothering to understand the mechanics.

As a lb gs zerker ill be trying out variants by swapping out gs for staff, it could work depending on what abilities and trait options we get.

I want them to reveal the new legendary longbow so i can start prepping mats for it. It possibly couldnt be any worse than Kudzu, right??

If theyre being kittenes you can get back at em with a quick reply and then block them before they can reply, which will only make them feel like theyve lost.

As someone who recently picked up ranger Id love your input on this. When doing dungeon pugs, is it that bad to be pure zerk (+traits) and just sit in longbow with a dd orientated pet on boss? I have a zerk thief where my dagger does more damage, but as im not an expert in dungeons, and once again in pugs, i can find myself backing off due to taking dmg, which is a dps loss. I guess what im wondering about in general, are longbow rangers less useful in this bursty zerk meta where bosses are expected to die fast? (Though being able to stay alive must count for something right + spotter)

Totally agree. Sadly this is an aged request and discussion that one can only hope Anet has picked up on/are aware of.

Ascended gear is the end gear of all time in GW2, we will never have to get another tier of gear as it’s on par with legendary statstatus. It’s not like in X MMO where you need to grind for another tier every 6 months or for every expansion’s new 5 or 10 levels.

So in GW2’s case it is just okay and the only MMO that breaks these chains of traditional progression. Huzzah!

It worries me from pvp pov that the attacks are supposedly slow, thats easy to dodge then/evade (even easier for some that relies on it)

it did look like Dragon Hunter takes everything a ranger can do.. but do it better and with more team utility (still a guardian after all at its core), and without the pet.

autoattack snare on 2 enemies? dmg comparable to power ranger. no pet limitation. just missing 1500 range and projectile velocity ranger gets.

I look forward to seeing how it gets balanced with ranger in mind.

Could someone confirm that rangers are keeping the 1500 range? Since nowhere on new traits u can see the extra 300 range added in traits, nor was it said it would be baseline?

Hello. Ive recently picked up a pewpew ranger and want to use it mainly for WvW roaming/zerg. I was wondering if anyone had any vids of good LB zerker rangers in WvW on youtube that I can use for inspiration? Im not talking about those where they fight enemies who are clueless (which most outnumbered vids tend to be) but rather those 1v1 where the opponent clearly is competent, just so that it is easier to see the LB ranger potential.

I could never go back after using sweetfx for half a year now. The default gw2 colors are a bit bland compared to some of the presets you can get in sweetfx.

Id take dual pistols With spec name “Gunslinger” pew pew pew pew. Not burst focused but with steady damage and utilities/kit.

Without GS mobility we’re sitting ducks as we need it for our survivability and be able to counter what is comming. Sw / wh is not an ideal combo with that setup though so you wont see many run it, so dont see why its brought up. It’s like saying thief zerk P/P does too much damage, without calculcating the massive initiative drop which also affects mobility and survivability.

The way I see dueling is it being an addition to the already existing content. Normally thats what makes a game interesting, the richness and variety of activities to do so that the game as a whole can cater to as many playertypes as possible. Having dueling could also make the game more interesting inbetween living story locusts, as it would always be a passive/permanent feature.

I can make an example with Tera “back in the days”. It’s a themepark MMO, just like GW2, that relies on content releases to keep the masses interested. Many would’ve quit earlier if it wasnt for those nifty little activities such as dueling, where they also have 1vX 1v3 3v3 and so on, and it’s pure fun and that’s what it’s all about – doing something you’re interested in and not be limited.

Ive decided to pick up a necromancer and give it some tries. I see on metabattle the traditional condi build is favoured over the powermancer build, could someone tell me why is that?

This has been known since release but thank you for putting it so well together. One can only hope the dev team checks up on it. AS it is now the elite spec could only make it better (while not making us even)
