Healing turret used to heal double? That would have been OP, fair nerf imo

Honestly dude, if you enjoy FT, you will LOVE nades/bombs. FT is our weakest kit by a looong way imo, the animation (of flame jet) reaching double the range of the actual hits doesn’t help either. (why the fug is that still an issue 9 months in by the way? Perhaps it is only an issue for large races? i.e. Charr?)

Pick up the elixir gun and run a condi/elixir build, you will thank me, seriously x

For WvW where you can pick up real Knights (power, prec, toughness [vitality is trash in PvP without tough]) run a nade/bomb build and enjoy some of the most brutal AoE in the game (although, hardest to land).

This post is full of misinformation about the flamethrower.

If you have targeting problems with flame jet, you need to practice more. 425 range is shorter than you think.

Get closer. It is a bunker weapon.

Maybe the awkward pause (Currently at end) could be at start – character crouches down to pause/ready boots, rockets go off (Finish blast) then u go flying into dodge – that way for stealth in particular, others cannot see which direction u go in (Even though u are facing the direction your going to go)

I really don’t think any kind of stopping/pausing/freezing or any other ’’rooted’’ animation would help a utility that will be used mostly in escaping situations.

i think the pause is a bug, in that the jump is either supposed to last a bit longer or the dodge is meant to fire a moment later in the animation.

i believe this is due to a dodge that they put at the end of the jump.

if you alter your camera direction during flight, it effects a change in direction of the dodge, you can also strafe in flight to strafe-dodge upon landing.

however, the dodge seems to be putting a small delay after the dodge completes, perhaps to account for animation cycles, or sommat like that, not sure yet.

frankly, the change doesn’t alter much of the FT build, if you want trigger, jugg, and sitting duck, you still need 30 points, or if you want the new napalm specialist (meh).

the extra ten points from firearms works nicely in to inventions, now taking energized and stabilized armor, and protective shielding, or in to alchemy for BP Regen.

you can also take speedy kits, but .. meh.

Naturally, there are many other options, these are just the first glance comments.

Actually, no. Any trait that gives piercing, beside that one, is at most a master trait and also give other benefits – either working on multiple weapons or reducing recharge.
Regarding Juggernaut, it had a different effect when they created it and thus they gave it a grandmaster slot; The current effect could be compared with warriors’ Forceful Greatsword…that is a master trait.

the point isn’t what level the trait is on, it is what you get for the point cost.

20 trait points for a permanent 180 power, 200 toughness, 200 precision, and 380 condition damage is a lot, especially from sPVP standards.

as for forceful greatsword, it doesn’t have the toughness. it is not in the same league as unconditional 200 toughess, 180 power, 180 condition damage.

I am not denying anything. I doubt they are real. Anet’s silence doesn’t prove anything, nor does a fansite posting an edited version of them mean anything.

The only confirmation we will have is when Anet says something.

The changes seriously buff my spec, I’d personally like them to be real, but I can’t see it.

There are wording inconsistencies in how previous patch notes have been issued, there are changes that make no sense.

One example: moving BOTH grandmaster traits to master traits in the engie Firearms tree is … lulwhat OP.

But I would certainly take a free 10 extra trait points for doing what I already do. I can’t see it happening though.

what drugs are you on?

Drugs? Got 2k hours on Engi, where 1700 are on WvW. Playing on organized hardcore wvw guild, to make useful engi for group you need to be on granade (where reta is hiting like a truck) or bombs, and you need 2200+ toughness just to enter, use bombs get out, and waiting for heal and CD, and you are pretty usless, cuz having low power, on pistol is kinda low dmg like 500-600. A little better on GvG where is less numbers etc, but still there are better classes, like necro, who will hit with blind from wells, and GG and giving also chill on every blind.

i know they are unoficial. and i hope they will never put those changes.

then take off your clyde’s dale blinders. you have very very narrow vision. is this your first visit to the forums? are you unaware of the myriad builds using kits in WvW? How do these notes eliminate kits even if they were real?

also, what GvG? there is no GvG in this game. None. Guilds organizing fights with other guilds within WvW is not GvG.

“baseline” has no meaning, and we do not know where this "baseline is set due to secrecy of the rating system. My contention is that this “baseline” is currently set far too high, because regardless of your personal position in the rating system if you solo que about 10 matches you will see multiple rank 10 or below players. Frankly your hypothetical 20 game player has no business being in a match with even R20 players on the other team.

That is the problem. Currently new players start too high on the list. Frustration sets in immediately.

With a sample size of only 20 matches I’d argue that you can make absoutely no value judgment on that player’s skill level. Particularly if the games are solo qued. First 20 games are purely luck influenced in terms of who you get for teammates and who the opposing team is.

baseline is just an operating word, it is not set it stone, currently present, or necessarily possible in the current system: BECAUSE WE DON’T KNOW WHAT THE CURRENT SYSTEM IS. Your predicated misconception that I am supporting the system Anet is using is misplaced, because calling my idea a baseline system is no different than calling DND a d20 system, or a bantam hockey tournament a round-robin system.

it is an option, and a better one than we have now.

Anet is going to have to completely wipe what they have, or they will be continually applying band-aids to the gaping wound that is pvp.

you are blinded by the last few months of kittenty matchmaking.

you cannot artificially lower a player’s place on the list because they wont LEARN anything about the game. YOU don’t learn anything unless you are CHALLENGED.

The point to splitting up the “training” and “tourney” systems is to teach players the basic game play skill they need to not stand around and die. The ONLY way they will learn how a tourny works is by being put in one.

Placing new players at the bottom of the list with kittenty players who have proven they suck by losing and moving down the ranks wont teach new players ANYTHING but frustration and disappointment and .. more importantly … BAD HABITS because their first impression of the game is from kittenty players.

You NEED to put them at a baseline so their first interactions in the system are, at the very least, with players who are good enough to maintain an average rating, or with other new players who can learn together, so that GOOD habits and PROPER teamwork is addressed.

Artificial deflation of new player standings only causes an exacerbated population of bad players.

Honestly a good place for Torment to be implemented, would be on Tool Kit. You swap out the Bleed on Box of Nails with Torment, and it matches perfectly.

It would seem to me that Torment would benefit that classes that move the slowest or have the fewest gap closers so that it is easier to pin down your opponent, so yes, I think that Engineers and Necros (and necro more than engi) are, logically, the best candidates for Torment, along with Warriors.

Giving a mobility curse to highly mobile classes just seems wrong.

That said, if specced properly, the Engi is considerably mobile, so I can see points against Engi having torment as well.

Jugg as a Master trait is exceedingly overpowered.

I would disagree with that though, engies who stay in ft for long periods are free kills, if their viability was increased bymoving juggernaut to master it would only help them survive

I am not a free kill.

200 toughness and 6 stacks of might is exceedingly overpowered for a Master tier trait. They wouldn’t just move it without changing its effects.

It would have too big of an impact in PVP because, for 20 trait points, you net 400 stat points instead of 500 at 30.

how is it artificially high to begin at the baseline, with players with fewer points (more losses) below you, and players with more points (more wins) above you.

the argument falls to the fact that a player with 10 wins and 10 losses, sitting at the baseline, has 20 maps more real experience than the new player. this can only be corrected by 1) promoting hotjoins as a means to facilitate familiarity with the maps and core pvp systems, and 2) by permitting this player to then join tournaments at the baseline with the expectation that they are a competent player so that they may begin accruing tournament experience.

the only way to get tournament experience is by playing in tournaments. if you start new players too far down the list, you make the game artificially easy and more frustrating as the challenge increase. if you start them too high on the list, frustration begins at the outset.

Even though the 10-10 player has twenty maps experience, their experience isn’t as meaningfully put to use as the team that is 15-5 or 20-0 or even 11-9. As such, a new player with no tournament experience, but a solid foreground in basic pvp (map layout, class abilities and tells, basic awareness of nodes and ancillary objectives) will have an acceptable challenge before them.

Then, matchmaking is tiered in to brackets of points, and each team must be within the same bracket, determined by (the sum of the team’s points/5). This way, a low rated player will never be queued with a team or group of so high a rating difference that the match is laughable. Furthermore, a system such as this negates the problems associated with premade vs soloq because the queue system will seek within the bracket for players, and a soloq team will always be in the same bracket as a premade, and have a fair chance at winning.

i do not understand why Anet is having such difficulties putting together a functioning queue system for solo and team players. it is not as though this is brand new technology we are dealing with. just because gamers crave innovation does NOT mean that something as simple as a leader board needs to be reinvented.

just make it work.

I doubt these are real; they’re probably a joke.

I totally agree.

For example, Anet never uses “CC” in their patch notes as an acronym, there is a typo on the Static Shield note (… “if when” …), and other general grammatical inconsistencies (such as the note about confusion no longer “fir[ing] extra times” instead of “applying damage”) lead me to believe they are fake, or done by an intern who failed communications classes.

Or maybe I just seriously hope badly enough that these notes are fake that I am looking for errors.

the only way to really do it is to start players with a mean rating that lowers when you lose and raises when you win.

0 games = 1000
a loss = 950
a win = 1000
another win = 1050

and so on.

without knowing the actual formula (and without being able to SEE the ratings), we will never be able to give a certain answer as to why things work the way they do.

i really miss the days when devs were actually allowed to talk to us, even if they said something that tasted like crow, at least they were accountable for it and looked after their communities.

now it’s like a daycare buddy system, players going two by two holding hands, skipping along to the sound of the pied piper.

unless ive missed a post somewhere, I am still unconvinced that these leaked notes are entirely legitimate.

why would they nerf TWO of our downed abilities?

why would they give us more access to burning duration?

what does this bug fix that changes our double heal at water’s edge entail and why is it not mentioned for any other class?

what does a Blind have to do with “Acidic Coating”?

Jugg as a Master trait is exceedingly overpowered.

Leg Mods + Stabilized Armor + Protection Injection = Lulwhat?

and, re: the stun break shuffle – as someone else mentioned already, why does “build diversity” have to come at the cost of “nerfing existing builds” …

and this is just the Engi Hullaballoo.

if these really are patch notes … I have lost any last shred of confidence in Anet, because if these are the patch notes then they clearly indicate that Anet have not ever actually played this game live.
