Have you tried blocking and reporting them? It at least removes the immediate annoyance factor.
I’d keep an open mind about your weapon choice for the future… when you’re at lower levels, you haven’t unlocked the traits or have the experience to make the most of your other weapons, so staff seems better.
Necro staff is more of a utility weapon; not best in power or condi DPS, but has a lot of useful effects in its #2-5 skills to make up for it. It’s fine for levelling, but whether you continue to use it once you get to level 80 depends on the content. It’s useful in pvp and wvw where long range and utility are needed, but it’s more of a niche weapon in pve… other weapons have better DPS, and long range rarely has any real advantage over mid range. That said, with weapon swap, you don’t need to commit yourself completely to a single weapon.
Another thing to note, when you’re doing harder pve content (fractals and raids), you often fight in melee range even if you’re using a ranged weapon. That’s for 2 reasons; it stops the mob from running all over the place, so increases the effectiveness of your melee teammates (or any ranged that benefits from a stationary target i.e. staff eles); and it helps with party support (boon sharing, combo fields, rezzes).

You can also land on one of the branches in the northern part of the map, which blocks the rocks. It’s the one you look straight at when you go to the penalty area.
The ley stone armor collection is pretty easy and awards an ascended armor chest which you can put towards the most expensive part (the coat).
Defeating Mayatl in VB also gives a MP that’s not listed in the achievement panel
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery_point_unlocks
There are plenty ways to earn them, but there’s no way to “farm” MPs as each achevement can only be performed once per account.
To put it in even more simplistic terms,
Complaining about GW1 content in GW2 is like complaining about Horde vs Alliance in WoW because you didn’t play Warcraft 1,2, or 3.
Agreed. I never played GW1 but I did read the lore and watch lore videos on the topic. I think Anet’s mistake for vanilla GW2 was there were too few meaningful connections to GW1’s events… to the point most players could just ignore there was ever a GW1.
On a side note I do not switch weapons or pets unless I am forced to (on all characters).
I suppose as an addendum, I do not use adrenaline very often on War, I dislike kits on Engi, I dislike using shroud on Necro
(although I may try him out again and attempt to), and I hated the whole stance-dancing thing Eles have going on (ie, why I
don’t care for them).
You’re really limiting yourself by not using the F-keys or weapons swaps. Is it because of the positioning? You can always rebind them to easier to reach keys; particularly for classes like Necro or Warrior who only have a F1 skill… rebinding an Engineer’s F1-5 is a bit more difficult. You might want to consider a MMO mouse or a gaming keypad to get around the issue.
You’re probably struggling cos GW2 uses a hybrid tab-targetting + action combat system. I.e. Tab-targetting because you can target a mob and “1” auto attack; but action combat because some skills need to be aimed, and can miss, be dodged, or be obstructed. Most older MMOs (e.g. WoW, Everquest) and even some newer MMOs use tab-targetting.
For PvP specifically, you’d expect to be slaughtered when starting out… it’s a game-type where you need to know your class, your opponent’s class and the map really well. And unlike PvE, defensive skills/traits, stunbreaks, CC clear and movement skills are very important. It’s also currently the PvP off-season, so there’s no ranked matches for the experienced PvP-ers, so they’re playing in the same unranked maps with you.
What 9 button mouse are you using? GW2 seems to be ok with most companies’ mapping software (I’ve tried Logitech, Razer and Corsair). Some, like my Corsair mouse, needs to run in hardware mode. AFAIK you can use the Xbox controller, but as this was designed with PC in mind, KB + mouse is still the better control setup for most players.
Which region are you in?
If you’re in NA, there are 2 guilds I know of who run it regularly. I think EVOS does thier run on the first wurm after daily reset. You don’t need to have TS, so you’ll have to turn up early to hear the map chat instructions. TTS does wurm 3-4 times a day (there’s an online calender you can google). You’ll need TS cos that’s how they taxi you onto the correct map ip and give instructions. For both groups, you’ll need to be on the map and watching LFG about 30mins prior to the event to have a realistic chance to get onto the correct map ip.
He’s talking about the LS2 achievements. The achievements can only be done by a character who’s already done the story once before.
The system got changed for HoT story achievements so that the achievements only needed one character to complete the story. Since LS2 hasn’t been changed to follow suit, I doubt it ever will. It seems pretty low priority now that LS3 is in full swing.
I was a vanilla WoW raider, and one thing I initially found strange was the lack of the gear thread mill. You don’t need to repeatedly do lesser raids in order to be adequately geared for the next raid up. In fact, you can obtain best-in-slot gear without even touching end game content via crafting.
Now I actually prefer this system, because if I fail where others succeed, I know it’s a matter of improving my skills and not because of gear imbalance. Success is all the more satisfying as a result.
You can do both in parallel… it’s just that if you split your time 50/50, you’ll likely finish the story long before you craft your legendary (especially since you don’t have 500 weaponsmith yet).
Legendaries don’t make the story better/easier, nor do you need to finish the story to make a legendary. It’s really up to you which to prioritize.
Necro should be equal to, if not better than, Ranger in terms of survivability on the basis of have pets AND a shroud AND they have the highest possible base HP pool. I main DH, Druid and Reaper, and my Reaper has always been the most balanced (easily survives and does good damage) in solo situations.
How much time have to spent with each of the other classes? There’s enough difference in each that it does take a fair amount of time to figure out your best build and improve your skills to the point you are effective in both damage and survival.
(edited by onevstheworld.2419)
Look at the 1st page of the thread. The devs already said they are looking into this. It’s barely been 3 days since the patch so just be patient and see what they come up with. Yes, it should be a fairly easy fix, but this wasn’t a small patch so the various bug fixes are also occupying their attention.
When LS2 first came out, any new players would have had to level up to 80 in order to play that content too, so I don’t see how this is any different.
TBH, a new player should play through at least some of core Tyria and HoT. Not only do you need to get used to the mechanics and obtain your elite specializations (you don’t get any hero points in BSF), but story-wise it makes very little sense to jump straight into Eir's funeral without prior context. You can argue going into LS2 without LS1 is similar, but LS2 didn’t start off with deliberately slow and emotionally charged scene. You need an existing relationship with that character for that scene to have any impact.

I’ve never tried it, but I thought switching to a different story will reset your progress on your current chapter, e.g. switch to personal story, then back to LS3
If the overclocked gpu crashes in games, then the overclock is not stable. Benchmarks do nothing for overclock stability.
This.
You need to run a stress test like Furmark for stability testing. Some factory OC GPUs are pretty much overclocked to the max, so don’t offer much more leeway for user overclocking.
If you return your card to it’s normal level of overclock, does it fix your issues with GW2 and Witcher?
Edit: My understanding of Nvidia’s GPU boost is that it increases clock speed to as much as your card’s power delivery and thermals will allow, often exceeding advertised clocks. So maybe you need to adjust your voltages or fan speed too. I run an AMD card, so I can’t help with the specifics.

Have you done the Hidden garden and SW jumping puzzles? SW badge collection?
Regarding the LS2 achievements; No, you can’t do the achievements on a character that hasn’t done the story first. However, once you’ve finished the story the first time, if that character reactivates the chapter, you can go straight to the instance with the achievement. Those are marked with purple stars instead of green ones. Some chapters can be soloed… Gates of Maguuma, Echos of the Past and Tangled Paths are the ones I completed solo.
That amulet is ascended. You can’t put jewels in ascended and as of the Tuesday patch the only thing you can put in ascended amulets is enrichments.
So basically i am SOL on this and the only infusions i seen are those overpriced ones. Well thank you for the response.
The ascended amulets have always had the jewel stats pre-build into them. Those numbers used to be displayed separately but were merged into the base stats in a past update to make the UI neater. And as of the newest patch, those infusions you mention can’t be placed on amulets. The only upgrades available for amulets are the +exp/karma/gold/MF ones.
If you have an engineer, completing the elite spec collection is a cheap way to get an ascended hammer. And if you decide you want an ascended GS too, you can complete the necro’s.
It isn’t. I’ve done the Dusk one. Unless you’ve stock piled the time gated mats, it’ll still take a ton of gold and farm time. The time required to complete the collections also need to be factored in. Some events for collection items are particularly annoying (e.g needing to be sucked into Teq’s whirlpool). The precursor collections were never meant to be quicker or cheaper than buying off the TP, it is a means of removing RNG from obtaining the precursor and perhaps add some interesting backstory. Whether that was successful is debatable.
I am having this same issue none of the things I do in the new content are making this bar progress…it is very frustrating!
Have you unlocked Masteries in the first place? Have you selected Gliding Mastery as the track you wish to work on?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery#Mastery_track
Good luck.
One of their issues may also be that, unless you are doing Meta events in the HoT maps, most XP you gain will not make any dent in the bar, so it sometimes feels like nothing is being gained. I’ll do world bosses and get practically nothing (I wish XP would scale at that point, honestly).
Well you wouldn’t get anything from the world bosses for the hot masteries so no wonder it dont give any dent
I was just giving an example. The core Tyria world bosses still give barely any noticeable XP towards my core Tyria Mastery bar.
This is not really relevant to the OP. The first tier of any mastery track is quick. Basic gliding only needs 500k xp, compared to the final tier, Ley lines, which need 4 mil xp.
OP’s issue is that he either hasn’t properly unlocked the mastery tracks, or is earning the wrong map xp.
World completion is the easiest part of legendaries. Depending on whether you are buying or crafting your legendary, you’ll have to spend a fair bit of time farming gold and/or doing collections.
Unless you’ve got hundreds of gold right now that you can blow to speed things up, you’re looking at several weeks to months of effort. You’ll probably be better off enjoying the story and do legendaries later.
Agreed, don’t delete.
For DH, GS/LB used to be the meta build before Anet nerfed LB #2 and raiders realized that hammer was better sustained DPS, but that weapon combo is still very good burst-style damage for open world content.
DH/zeal/virtues was what I used to run, and the support came from swapping out utilities depending if I needed quickness, reflects, stability or condi clear. Currently I run zerk Ham/LB DH/zeal/honor.
I run T4 on my Guard all the time and I very rarely have issues with retal, and I certainly have never been kicked out of a group because of it. The boon thief has a cooldown and other boons compete to be stolen.
Granted, I’ve built my Guard to generate as little retal as possible, which is not difficult as the raid meta is pretty much that. I run a Ham/LB build very similar to the raid meta and the only real source of retal is if someone blasted my light fields.
If you do get your retal stolen, you’d definitely notice… as a low HP class, a procession of blades or GS#2 being retal-ed will insta-down you.
(edited by onevstheworld.2419)
No, you only get 1
I’ve found 14 vials so far in lord knows how many runs. I need 31 total. I’ve been running 28 because that’s as high as my fractal level will allow. I haven’t found a single glob. That’d be worth 5 vials.
Like I said before; farm higher fractals. You can ask someone with a higher level to help you open and advertise on LFG. You don’t need any AR and it’ll be more time efficient:
When you convert to lower tiers in the MF: 1 shard = 3 globs = 9 vials
(edited by onevstheworld.2419)
If you’re already fully ascended, get the AR to move up to T4 fractals and all of you will get better chances. I think it’s more a case of those guys being unusually lucky rather than you being unlucky.
I’ve crafted those boxes, that’s why I assumed it was the same. Need some time away from the game now. My mistake or not, it’s soured me on it completely.
The wiki does have a note at the bottom clarifying that exact point, so you’re not the only one who’s made that assumption.
However, anyone who’s ever received ascended boxes from elsewhere will know they only ever gave 1 item per box, so it is consistent from that point of view. And I agree with the posters above that it is the easiest way to get an armor piece if you don’t fractal.
A Rytlock finisher would make sense since he can teleport in and out of the mists anyway
Probably the same reason forum search never worked either. The forum is pretty low in the priority list.
(Remember: you’ll have to do 20+ to get the top tier; L19 is good for the mid-tier mat.)
I thought that was based on the old 1-50 fractal levels. The wiki currently says 1+ for vials, 26+ for globs and 51+ for shards.
@OP
I know it’s probably RNG distorting my experience, but I had quite a lot of luck farming in the dredge fractal. My group had been farming maw and we didn’t seem to be getting anywhere, so we decided to change things up and try grawl and dredge. Grawl wasn’t great either, but dredge was giving everyone a shard every 2-3 runs. We went back to maw briefly because one of the group was convinced his drops was better there, but we ran into the same drought, so switched back to dredge.
Btw, if you’re farming essences, you don’t need AR (unless you farm 91+ for some strange reason), so you don’t need to limit yourself to lower levels.
(edited by onevstheworld.2419)
-Teq
-Tripple Trouble
-Fractals low scale (higher scale would assume you have ascended so that defeats the purpose)
I probably wouldn’t rely on those to get fully ascended, at least, not unless you’re very patient. Teq and TT have low RNG to drop ascended chests (For my n=1 sample, in a 6 month period of consistantly doing those 5+ days a week, I recieved 3 or 4 boxes in total). And fractals will only have reasonable drop rates at T4 (Possible at T3 but still low chance). Low levels will net you rings and trinkets.
It will be more reliable to get the elite and leystone collection boxes and craft the rest. Then you’ll be able to do T4 fractals and raids if you want a 2nd set or for alts.
From what I remember from previous threads regarding this topic; yes, you do.
Not every collection item is a physical item. This is one instance of that so there’s nothing for you to worry about.
Remember the elite spec collections reward ascended weapons, so if you have a reaper and a mesmer/rev, completing those are a cheap way to get your gs and shield. Also, the ley stone armor collection is a cheap way to get an ascended armor box.

If you are part of a guild with a guild hall with tavern upgrades, you can also get a +% xp bonus that is independent of you food and boosters
Judging from your past posts, you seem to have problems with many fractals. Either you attract the worst PUGs ever, or you’ve got you’ve got to up your own game.
Fractals aren’t easy when you’re starting out and figuring out the mechanics, but there are plenty of resources to help you. Gw2dungeons and KING’s guides are terrific resources. You can argue that you know the mechanics well enough, but by definition; unless you’ve done each fractal level multiple times, you and your party still learning. Each failure should be an opportunity to as yourself “How can I improve?” or “How can I teach my team to improve?” (BTW this philosophy will be taken to further extremes when you start raiding)
IMO, the best (and least stressful) way to learn is to get a bunch of guildies who are experienced in fractals to take you through and show you the ropes. The unfortunate side-effect of the new fractal rewards system is that anyone who is in T4 has very little incentive to PUG lower tier fractals, so the quality and experience of T1-3 PUGs has definately suffered.

You can buy the cultural armours from a wvw vendor, which uses badges to reduce the gold cost.
I’d say Zaitan is male… You can’t have that many phalluses (or phalli?) attached to you and not be male. Tequatl on the other hand is definitely female. All the time I spent DPSing between her legs and not once have I noticed any evidence to the contrary.
;p
Wait, we have mourned Eir… I very respectfully pressed F over her body.
Seriously though, it’d be cool if Anet did a memorial event for them. Doesn’t need to be part of LS3, it can easily fit in a “Current events” format. You could travel around tyria for collections to place at thier respective memorials; or being the pact commander, be the one to tell thier loved ones that they have passed.
If you’re asking about Hot xp, I assume you haven’t unlocked all the masteries yet.
If that’s true, I’d concentrate on earning xp and unlocking way points. Ignore gold farming for the time being. Once the movement masteries are unlocked you’ll have a much easier time with whichever farm you choose to do.
That would be the most likely outcome, but remember asura gates can be re-“tuned” to another location. It’s just not done often because it’s an expensive process. Plus, with ley line energy going nuts, I think Anet have plenty of artistic licence to have it open to wherever they want.

What’s behind the gate? A new map? The surviving rata novans? White mantle? The next elder dragon?
Bring it on, Anet! \o/
Not a bug. The 4 relic recipe gives you a random weapon. If you want a specific weapon, you’ll need to cough up more. See the recipes on the bottom of the page.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gold_Fractal_weapons
If you have the money, also consider a gaming keypad like the razer orbweaver. I use that with a mmo mouse, so my thumbs control all my weapon, utility and F skills. I like it because I can use my skills without interrupting my movement or dodges.
The event is much easier than it used to be, with some organisation, it’s rare to see a map fail.
Try it during the weekend or during prime time. There’re usually LFG taxis 15-20 mins before the meta is due to start.
