Rings are the only trinket that can have more infusion slots added (technically backpieces too, but you can only wear 1 at a time), so the infusion trick only works with those.
Do you have the budget to get a G-sync monitor? High refresh rate monitors are best with first person shooters games, esp if you are competitive. Games that you cannot get to 144 fps will benefit more from adaptive refresh rates ( G-sync or Freesync) to improve the perceived smoothness.
I think there’s a bit of selective memory here. Yes, some LS1 was great, but there was a fair amount of filler too. As Ayrilana says, most of these could have been bundled into Current Events if that existed at the time.
As you get older and accumulate more responsibilities, you’ll appreciate the slower but bigger release cadence… burnout (both dev and player) is a very real thing with the more intense release schedule.
It’ll likely work like the PvE version… You get the choice of 1 single piece, not a whole set or multiple weights. E.g. light boots. The character who earns out shouldn’t matter.
You don’t need the books. The books may be account bound but the individual recipes are not. And they are cheap on the TP

From Au too… I’ve not noticed any unusual lag lately. In my experience, it is more likely the issue comes from your connection to NA, rather than Anet’s servers themselves… i.e. because of the distance, there a lot more stuff that can go wrong in the connection between us and Texas, more so than a US resident.
To figure out the issue, have you tried going through Anet’s troubleshooting FAQ?

Are you looking for exotic or ascended?
Asecended trinkets and backpieces can be bought in the LS3 maps quite easily.
For weapons and armor you do need crafting:
- 400 if you make an exotic inscription/insignia and MF an existing ascended item (you can make exotic weapons and armor at this level too)
- 500 if you want to make the item outright. You also need this level if you want to buy ascended boxes from the WvW vendor as you need to craft one of the items to exchange, e.g. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Grandmaster_Tailor%27s_Mark
I don’t believe the random drops in WvW contain any Sinister stat items.
BTW, why aren’t you going for Viper’s?

There are no referrer rewards for ordinary players. However if you’ve a favourite GW2 youtuber, streamer or website that you want to support, you can buy PoF with their link and they will get a small kick back.
The “free” transfer is only available to F2P accounts that subsequently upgraded to HoT. The reason being that a F2P account doesn’t have any choice which server to join when the account was made, whereas a full paying account does. However, as you’ve found out, it is restricted to non-full servers like everyone else.
I struggled with HoT when it first came out and walked away for about 15 months. Came back this past December, and had a blast with it (still occasionally AB or DS). Everyone of my alts (one for each class) has cleared the VB map for the ascended weapon collection.
I found it a lot easier when I came back, or less aggravating at any rate. They must have made some adjustments to it during that time.
Made and leveled a Revenant in the middle of all that too.
Thing with that is they didn’t really…change anything if you’re talking about mob difficulty or how the zones were laid out.
Here is the thing with “knee jerk” reactions. People tend to get annoyed/frustrated/angry at something initially due to not being used to it or having a misunderstanding in relation to it, but then they step away (for however long) and when they come back after not thinking about it, aka cooling off, typically someone will tend to approach the situation with a better mindset and handle whatever difficulty they ran into much better after the fact. Or just have a better understanding of it.
Crazy what impulse emotions can do to ones objective reasoning.
Disclaimer: I’m not taking a shot at you, just making an observation based on your comment.
Actually both of you are right at the same time. No changes to the mobs or map layout, but there have been many other changes to make HoT more pleasant:
- HP requirement for elites decreased from 400 to 250
- VB WP’s don’t get locked out each time the map resets (I have a feeling this may have happened to AB too… can’t recall)
- Some HP’s were re-tuned or their champ mob removed altogether
- TD meta was nerfed/fixed
- VB meta was retuned so you don’t need perfect camp defense to reach T4
I’m sure there are other changes that I’ve forgotten
You can’t change stats on ANY ascended backpack/ring/amulet, so yes, you are stuck with theses stats.
Well that sucks, wish the wiki was more clear about that… Thanks for the info though.
The wiki is curated by other players… you can make suggestions to improve it.
Once you have your free unlock, it’s permanent… an easy way to see which episodes you’ve got for free is to go to the gem store. It only allows you to buy episodes that you don’t have.
You can start the episode at any time by activating it in the story journal in your Hero panel.
Maybe something about your account got flagged… either from the early failures, or something else. What about getting someone else (not your fiancee) to buy for you and sending you the serial code? E.g. parent, sibling, friend
If they live at a different address, use their own credit card and don’t even have GW2; that should eliminate many reasons for failure.
Reroll necro for a much easier experience
This is very sound advice. I’d normally go through the story missions with my necro first in order to get familiar with the mechanics, then try with my other classes.
Even if you’re starting a new toon, keep your old one. The birthday gifts contain skins you cannot obtain any other way and some very expensive account bound dyes.
Try buying using your phone browser but not connected to your wifi. That should bypass any IP related issues.
I’m guessing its the SW area, where the Wyvern meta is.
I usually get up purely with updrafts. Takes a while to get the timing right, and I do have to pick up an artifact and use the dash to give me that little bit more forward reach.
Ascended trinkets and backpiece are quite easy… just farm the LS3 maps for their respective map currencies.
The cheap ways for weapons and armor include:
- Elite spec collections
- Leystone armor collection https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Leystone_Armor_
- Reforging Caladbolg https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Knight_of_the_Thorn
- Machined weapon collection https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_Weapon_Chest_
You don’t need HoT to play PoF. You do need a level 80 character though.
If you only buy PoF, you will not get any HoT specific features:
- HoT elite specs
- HoT masteries, including gliding
- HoT legendaries
- HoT raids
- Scribe profession
- Living story season 3 (as someone who has not logged in during any of the episode releases, you’ll also need to buy them with gems… although if you log in game now, you at least have ep 6 “banked” in case you buy HoT later)
There are certain features that have been released, but are not tied to HoT
- Fractals inc the new ones
- WvW changes
- Any open world events in core maps (Shatterer revamp, Current Events)
Are you sure you cannot play ep 6? Is it available in your hero panel’s story journal to activate? Otherwise you can try teleport to a friend who’s on the map… it won’t work for eps you need to buy, but unlocked eps should work.
Based on the PoF’s system requirements, you’ll need 50Gb when it goes live.
Hi Zedek,
In addition to what you’ve said, if anyone was adamant to have an Intel, I’d actually recommend them to hold off until next gen.
Intel’s current gen consumer chips aren’t much of an upgrade from thier last gen AND thier next gen is reportedly going to feature more than 4 cores / 8 threads.
Competition is a wonderful thing
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery_point_unlocks
If you look at the list above, you get MPs from a variety of activities. Most are quite easy, or give significant rewards, so you’d want to do them anyway… when HoT launched, veteran players got a large number of core MPs right from the beginning because we had already done a lot of the achievements despite them not giving MPs beforehand. Crafting is not needed for any of them.
I’d recommend OP stick with Ryzen. It’s only slightly slower in single threaded performance than a current gen Intel, but much faster for multithreaded.
In terms for future proofing, Ryzen is the way to go. Intel themselves will make higher core count consumer CPUs in their next gen, so the trend is inevitable.
Also consider getting a solid state drive if your budget allows. You’d be surprised how much more responsive it’ll make your PC feel.

To every who wants more realism/seriousness:
Anet are adding a gaint bunny mount to the game… need I say more?
(For the record, I’d love to ride a Corgi with my max sized Charr)

As far as I can tell from the reviews, a 1030 is more powerful than the iGPU. Whether it can run on your preferred settings, it’s hard to know. Your system isn’t really designed for gaming, and aside from the weak PSU, I’m going to wager you’ll run into heat management issues if you add a more powerful GPU.
If you’ve got any ambitions of gaming, you’d best return it and get a proper gaming system. (ITX if you want a small form factor)
Are you using the same character who finished the story? I think access is character bound.
Follow the unbound magic as you fall. They will guide you towards the portal
Is anyone else disappointed that this didn’t make it past concept?

I’ve seen others say the branch does indeed disqualify you from the achieve.
My Migraine PUG was nice enough to re-run the mission and let me cheese FoF.
Have you activated and completed the 1st HoT mission in your journal? It’ll ask you to go to Verdant Brink via the Silverwastes.
If you were to take a core trait line to create a core elite specialization, you also need to ask the question; For consistency, do you also keep the game design, style and philosophy of the current elite specs?
That would mean:
Trait line
Elite restricted weapon – likely needs to be taken from a current core weapon, which will be an issue with Engi because of how few core weapon it has.
Change in class mechanics – there should be a game play difference between an elite vs non-elite build (e.g. Guradian’s change in F-abilities, Thief’s extra dodge, Ele’s overloads)
Personally, I’m not sold on the idea.

Don’t use guild halls as a benchmark. Some guilds build so much decorations in one place that even the best PCs will take a big hit.
I think the best comparison will be LS3 maps as they were developed in parallel with PoF.
It’s a bit early to tell for sure, but at least one class (Spellbreaker) looks particularly well suited for PvP and WvW.
Regarding Rev, a better way of seeing it is:
Rev = expansion class
Herald = HoT elite
Renegade = PoF elite
I don’t think there’s any unfairness there
Have you guys tried a different browser? At least one guy in another thread solved his issue by doing that
The wiki says you need CS to get it back. Somewhere on the forum they’ve got a post explaining they’ve got a huge backlog of tickets to get through, so unfortunately you need to be patient.
I think one part that you could incorporate into your review is LS3. Anyone who’s been playing this last year would consider it an integral part of HoT… you can notice a definite change in the style and philosophy of the gameplay and presentation.
And this would be useful to any new players that have just bought the HoT/PoF package and are wondering if it’s worthwhile to spend the gems to unlock LS3.
I’m from Aussie too. Pre-ordered PoF 2 weeks ago via Paypal without issue.
What browser are you using? Firefox has always given me grief if I try buy from the official website… originally HoT, and same thing with PoF, despite at least 1 re-install of Windows and FF in the interim. I’ve had to swap to Chrome on both instances.
There’s a sticky thread to request that
@OP
If you don’t want to play all of HoT, just play enough to unlock a few tiers of gliding. The maps aren’t built specifically for it, but you can still glide in PoF.
The active elite also determines if you can use the elite weapon… e.g. you can only equip a torch if you’re a Berserker, or daggers only if you’re a Spellbreaker

If you’re worried about baby taking the physical card, take a photo of your gem card number.
Or, as another option, you could always purchase a Gem Card(s) from an authorized retailer.
hmm not sure ive ever seen those around where i am but good to know
It’s a bit hit and miss… in Australia, they were difficult to find about 2 years ago, but EB games have restocked them now. Which is great, cos the exchange rate makes it more worthwhile than buying (in US$) directly from Anet.
It’s a bit early to tell how each new elite will play… we’ve had the demo weekend, but there’s likely tuning/rebalancing tweaks done before PoF goes live.
There are good resources explaining the big picture of the new elites.
I’m a fan of WP. Here’s his SB vid:
https://youtu.be/WgKlAmCbpzQ
There is one MP that actually requires WvW – Koutalophile has one spoon that only drops there.
To my knowledge, that is the only MP that needs any non-PvE play.
I stand corrected
Also, if anyone is not aware the recent patch added a bunch (9??) new MPs to core Tyria… all just communes. And the LS3 maps add more HoT MPs than their respective mastery unlocks consume… again, the majority of these aren’t difficult.
Have you tried these suggestions?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Clearing-Video-Settings
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/54889-reset-settings/
What mastery points are you missing? Have you looked at the list at all? Reason I ask is because WvW and PvP don’t award any mastery points.
Depends… different people attach meaning to different things. Some people consider the 2g meaningful. Others the 10 AP. Or the Spirit shards. Or the reward chests from the specific tasks. Or you may not consider any of that meaningful… I don’t think that’s the point of dailies… it’s a way to incentivize players to regularly do stuff in the game.
Btw, the crafting mats you complain about usually come from the gathering tasks. Other tasks have different rewards… e.g. PvP and WvW give their respective tokens and reward track potions, Mystic forging gives Mystic coins, etc.
