It would be nice, but I think Anet is unlikely to do that for a cost vs benefit reason. It would mean modifying every single piece of armor and outfit. And Anet doesn’t have the greatest track record in the armor department.
ESO can do it because it has similarly proportioned humanoid races, whereas GW2’s Asura and Charr would require very extreme sliders. And probably result in even more Charr clipping complaints.
In-game requests won’t get you a response, it’s used more of a bug/user reporting system.
You need to make a support ticket. In the top right of this page: Services -> Support -> Submit a ticket. You’ll get an email confirmation and CS should get in touch in 3 days or so.
Edit: Have you checked your other characters? And a minimized bank tab is also an embarrassingly common reason for “disappearances”
(edited by onevstheworld.2419)
At current gold → gem exchange rates, it costs 150-160g to get a bank expansion slot. There are plenty of guides that teach you how to make gold… that amount won’t take too long. When PoF goes live, there’s likely to be good opportunities to make even more… guild hall related mats were a nice money maker when HoT initially went live.
Are you guild leader of a PvE or WvW guild? Guilds aren’t restricted to your home server, so if yours is a PvE guild, it shouldn’t matter if you transfer.
3 If you bought one of the early soul bound unbreakable tools, you have to exchange it with a vendor for the modern account bound version.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Molten_Alliance_Mining_Pick
4 As mentioned above, you need HoT to glide. Specifically you need to finish one of the very early story steps then unlock the relevant mastery. But once one character had done that, gliding will be unlocked for all your characters.
6 Since you left, fractals and raids have been added. Dungeons are essentially abandoned content now… they have very few worthwhile rewards. If you want better gear (ascended) you can get them in fractals… or craft them.

I don’t use it myself, but if you search (use google, forum search has been broken forever) others have.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Xbox-360-controller-and-Guild-Wars-2-merged/first
You’ll be able to play together in PvE and PvP since you guys are on NA servers. No need to guest as GW2 uses megaservers to aggregate everyone together. WvW can’t though.
To transfer servers, in addition to what you’ve mentioned, an account without characters can transfer for free, meaning you have to delete all your existing characters. You could get lucky with a F2P account, but those get allocated servers randomly.
Presumably you can. Anet hasn’t given any deadline.
But I won’t recommend leaving it too late… servers tend to go funny when expansions go live.

how about legendary crafting? hot exclusive or will one expansion suffice
I think Core Tyria masteries will be unlocked with any expansion.
The legendary crafting mastery is a core Tyria mastery.
But the gen 2 legendaries need HoT specific items (e.g. HoT map completion, airship oil, etc) so unless alternatives are created for PoF, you may not be able to make the HoT legendaries.

If I remember correctly, we had a temporary beta character slot, so you can’t use any of your regular characters to go into the beta test. You get some genetic stat swappable equipment. Your bank gets cloned, so you can still use some of your own things. TP, guild storage and mail was disabled for beta characters, so you couldn’t dupe your stuff.
Not sure how shared inventory slots will work though. Those weren’t a thing then.
A failing or inadequate power supply is a common reason for powering down under stress. Judging from your pc’s CPU, I’d guess it’s at least 5 or 6 years old, which it a good amount if time, especially if it’s a cheap PSU.
You should be able to get a quality brand 500+w bronze or silver PSU for fairly cheap. If it’s not the PSU (motherboard or ram failures can also cause random errors), you can still use the PSU in your new build.
That event is on a timer, so you have to wait until it starts before you can do it.
There are various sites that will tell you what events are happening:

Actually there is a very interesting youtube that demonstrates 8-core FX processors actually holding up very well four years after the initial release with current games. What seems to have happened is that as time rolled on, the games started to utilise many-cores more then the FX moreorless beat ‘superior-on-release’ Intel processors of the time. If things are similar then any move from 4 to 8 core gaming is likely to take four or so years to pan out.
Now that Ryzen is out, I’d expect the migration to >4 core gaming to accelerate. I’d hazard to guess the reason we’re not already there is because Intel never had any reason to offer affordable 6 and 8 core CPUs and was happily squeezing as much profit as possible by labeling them as “Pro” grade parts and charging accordingly.
I remember when AMD released their x86-64, dual core CPUs. It forced a kicking and screaming Intel to adopt the standard and make consumer 64-bit multi-core CPUs, even leading them to abandon Itanium.
(edited by onevstheworld.2419)
Important thing to note is that Ryzen is known to gain around 10% performance in games when you disable it’s multithreading.
This is a bug in Windows 10. Apparently Win 7 is fine. Hopefully, Microsoft gets it kitten together and sorts it out quickly.

I see in all the collections, i need 3 Prototype fractal capacitors?
Isn’t it enough to get one and just upgrade a single one?
You only need 1 Prototype fractal capacitor to start with and upgrade it to the max level:
Prototype fractal capacitor (exotic) -> Prototype fractal capacitor (ascended) – > Beta fractal capacitor (infused) -> Fractal capacitor (infused)
You actually need 3 Balls of Dark Energy. 2 to initially craft Finite Result. And 1 to go from Unbound to Ad Infinitum (this is after taking into account the balls you get from salvaging the precursors).

If you don’t already have it, get the Adrenal Mushrooms mastery.
You need quite a lot of CC in this encounter, and I found that with shrooms, I could use those to refresh my CC skills and free up slots for damage/survival skills.
Eh where do you live? 1700 is $330 on Newegg (it’s the only US store I know lol). Even here in Sweden where we are taxed up the kitten its only around $410. The 1800X is the one that cost $500.
Oops, my bad. MSRP is US$330.
I’d get something like this:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/r2ZCqk
I wouldn’t get a prebuilt at your price range since it’s most likely going to be terrible for the price
You can easily up that to an i5, custom cooler and 500gb SSD instead and stay within the budget.
The problem right now is that its pointless to buy anything – if all indications of AMD Ryzen performance and pricing are true, it will turn the entire CPU eco system topsy turvy within a couple of weeks.
But I suppose if you got to go you got to go…
Ryzen 7’s price to performance looks amazing, but unfortunately the 1700 is still US$470, so I doubt OP would fit a whole system in his budget. Ryzen 5 and 3 have no release date yet.
However, it has moved a whole market segment down an entire price level which means the i5/i7’s will have to get cheaper too. Some retailers have already started despite Intel not yet changing MSRP.

I’ve always preferred MMO mice with non-grid buttons… my current one is a old Corsair M90. I personally feel it ends up more intuitive once you get past the learning curve. Others that fit the bill are Razer Naga Hex, SteelSeries Rival 500, Roccat Nyth and Asus ROG Spatha. Last last couple are probably out of your budget.
On a negative note… Corsair’s included software is horrible… I run my mouse with hardware profiles because the software mode is buggy and hasn’t been updated for years (I still need the software to program hardware mode). As a comparison, Razer synapse (for my Orbweaver) hasn’t given me any major issues, is more intuitive and has more features.

Just to add… there is one set of ascended trinkets and backpiece you can change stats… the ones from Bloodstone Fen. All others are permanent once your selection is made.
Just had the same bug… the ministers kept on screaming and the catapult cutscene did not play. I was on my reaper with blood fiend and golem out. Tried it again without minions and managed to complete the instance.
A more modern example the haka before a “big huge major battle”… anyone who follows NZ rugby will know what I mean
I wouldn’t get AMD laptops at this time… even ignoring the performance disadvantage, they run hotter and are more power hungry than Intel’s, not a good combo for laptops.
If you were to wait, say 6-12 months, that may all change… AMD’s new Zen family chips look promising, but it seems like the desktop chips will be released first.
Any gear set "specific" for HoT maps ?

The reclaimed, plated and machined weapons are all only available in HoT map content.
Also, there are rare drops… I won’t consider them farmable though:

Plus the invisible shoes.

Did they say why they weren’t returning the gold?
They definitely have the ability to return gold, so they have made a conscious decision not to return it.

How about if you make a free account on one of the linked servers to the Desolation and get a char to level 60 so you can play WvW on it.
That may not work. Desolation is the 2nd ranked EU server. AFAIK the top 2 or 3 servers are rarely linked with another server.
(edited by onevstheworld.2419)
Desolation is classified as a “Full” server. So you can’t transfer into it even if you did buy a server transfer. You have to wait until it’s WvW population falls.
The wiki is probably wrong. The article you quote was last updated in 2013, so things have probably changed but not been updated by the wiki community.
Okay, thanks for the advice! When I get my Yggdrasil put together I’ll give it some nice healer runes. checks hmm, there are only 3 prefixes to choose from for it and Cleric’s is the lowest toughness. I’ll keep an eye out for Magi stuff though :-)
You can stat swap Yggdrasil to Magi’s at the MF, just like any ascended weapon.
OK, I think we’ve confused you… just forget about everything and start again:
Without any other buffs, my character currently has 19,404 HP in the main UI (red orb at the bottom).
If I look in my hero panel, it says 19,212 HP (in green font)
If I go to a raid instance, it will change to 19,212 in the main UI.
19,212 is my character’s real HP. The higher number is influenced by the WvW bonus. Tomorrow, the HP in my main UI will be higher, and it will keep on increasing until next weekend. Then suddenly, it will drop to 19,212 and the process starts again.
So, to find your real HP, look at your hero panel NOT the main UI.
You can re-confirm it by
- Going into a raid instance (Spirit Vale, Salvation Pass, or Stronghold, but not the Aerodrome). AFAIK all other PvE instances, including fractals will have the WvW bonus applied.
- Putting your exact build into a online build editor http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
The Wvw effect is always a buff, never a debuff, you never lost any HP… you only gain it during the week and go back to normal when wvw resets. So your normal HP is actually closer to the lower number you quoted. Anything more than that is a result of the efforts of your server’s wvw players.
If you want a larger bonus, go to wvw just after reset and help out your server.
(edited by onevstheworld.2419)
You can run Ascalonian Catacombs. The armor you get has Magi as a selectable prefix AND Monk runes.
You should be able to get ascended weapon and trinkets fairly easily. Ascended staff from the Druid elite spec collection, and trinkets from the LS3 maps.
I’ve had it happen to me too, in pretty much identical situations to the OP:
- After winning the South challenge, I become an armor, then immediately after my loading screen completes, I drop out of the armor. My loading times aren’t long enough to time me out of armor.
- After dying and WPing back to get a new armor, I lose it immediately after using the exalted portal.
I always go to South, so I’m not sure if it happens at the other ’Vines.
I’ve played GW2 on both my 15" MacBook Pro (2011) and i5 Surface Pro 3.
GW2 will play on lower settings, but the cooling solutions aren’t really made to cope with CPU and GPU intensive games, so they heat up and throttle like crazy. I’m guessing the current gen MBP’s will behave similarly.
1. I had a nice long exchange with an ArenaNet customer service rep regarding the issue. In fact, he told me to post here and I (reluctantly) did so (this forum is fairly toxic…).
That seems like a funny thing to ask of you. I don’t see how a forum could help you more than a CS rep would.
2. ArenaNet support stated that they will add HoT back onto my account any time I would like, I just need to submit another ticket.
So, if you’re also not happy with HoT, it can be disabled on your account. You just go back to not having access to the HoT content. It’s quite a ham-fisted, all or nothing, way to set one’s preferences, but it works…
That’s interesting… I didn’t know Anet was able to do that. Did they need to do a rollback? Or were you able to keep any non-HoT progress you made in recent days/weeks?
Glad you got an acceptable outcome.
The Wintersday gift will probably change to a Lunar New Year envelope when that event starts.
Remember to load up on the various XP bonuses too
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experience#Experience_modifiers
Also the new LS3 maps give a fair amount of HoT experience. Not sure how active Bloodstone Fen is recently, but I remember getting a good amount of XP by repeatedly taxiing into Jade event maps.
There are 2 collections that give you 20 slot bags for cheap: Uncanny Canner and Bandit Weapon Specialist. Or if you are up to doing fractals, you can buy 20 slot bags with the relics.
I can’t say for gw2 specifically, but most reviews and tests I’ve read for other games don’t show any meaningful improvement in frames. Only exception is if you’re using the integrated gpu
