It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
Ok so:
-something purchased from a merchant NPC (most likely in LA)
-Mystery heritage item/scroll (Eldritch or otherwise)
-Mystic coins.
-????
We are still missing one piece
Edit: didn’t see Johns post about the 2 items…
Do not play what other people want you to play. Play what you enjoy. If you enjoy necro more, play necro. Though for PvE you will have to play zerker necro as condi in PvE is a big no
Seems a bit condradictory….
That being said, yes condi necro is not very effective in group PvE/dungeons, however if you are mostly solo, condi necro can be awesome. I actually play a condi necro in PvE, and yes have taken him on dungeon runs and been fine. The groups you need to watch out for are the speed run groups, meta groups, and groups looking for the most optimal dungeon runs. In casual groups, condi isn’t really an issue as most people in such groups are generally looking for a fun run with a bit of coin in the end.
Necro in PvP, condi or otherwise, and WvW is actually viable and somewhat sought after.
As far as warrior, the great amount of utility warriors bring to the table make them great for any type of content.
In the end, play what you enjoy, how you enjoy, and don’t listen to “elitists” or haters, and don’t join a “speed run, zerk only” dungeon run unless you are equipped and prepared for it. Just because you can “play how you want” doesn’t mean that you have the right, or expectations, to be able to group up with people who are looking for a specific build/group of people to play with. They also have the right to “play how they want”, and just as your way should be respected, you also need to respect theirs.
I just hope it’s not limited to the halloween event….
Ok, now that my tinfoil hat is firmly back in place, I was thinking about the merchant thing. What about the Black Lion Trading Company? Evon Gnashblade disobeyed orders, killed his commander, and founded the company. This would certainly be a sore point on the heritage part. Plus it falls into the fact that it is merchants and guards (black lion/lion guards) chasing him. He tried to steal whatever it was, but failed. As far as the sealed container? I think it’s just that. A sealed container for getting out whatever it was he was going after. And this would put it back into LA, where the BLTC has their HQ, and has a very strong presense and influence in.
So to sum up. We need to aquire something from the BLTC, something expensive, and I’m guessing is not for sale (I believe the text points to something that is going to have to be aquired in a manner other than just buying it from a merchant) and need to get out without being caught.
Also, I think people are back to over-thinking it, or chasing red herrings from overly literal interpretations.
Maybe, but we’ve got nothing better to do, and it’s fun
Also as a point of interest in Rurikton a converstation between 2 scholars:
Scholar: Find anything good?
Scholar (2): Yes! I found some rather remarkable scrolls about a group of adventurers some centuries ago.
Scholar (2): They escaped Ascalon right before the Searing, crossed the Kingdom of Kryta, joined and betrayed the White Mantle, and even faced a lich lord!
Scholar: Wow. Maybe someday, we’ll meet heroes like that.
Divinity’s Reach is on the edge of three lakes (Lake Regent and Lake Doric we cannot access, and then the Lake in Queensdale made by a dam) and a riven (made by the eastern dam). Ascalonians care a LOT about their heritage – just talk to the NPCs throughout Rurikton and Ebonhawke.
Maybe the second item is sold by a Rurikton merchant. Anything unique being sold by them?
The item would be a sealed cylindrical case. Which could mean a bottled liquid, or a container for a scroll or the like.
While I agree that Ascalonians care very much about their heritage, it seems its mostly a sense of pride, and not so much one of sensitivity, in that it’s not something they are ashamed of, which is how I read the text.
From the wiki: “The residents pride both their ancestry, especially their hero ancestors, as well as having immense pride for Ascalon.”
As far as the item in question being sold by a merchant, then why would it need to be stolen? Granted he is being chased by merchants and guards for a failed thievery attempt, but this leads me to believe that something mundane that holds such value wouldn’t be sold by them, but rather treasured and almost like a “holy” icon for them.
Is there any place where merchants are held in high regard and likely the center for power?
My own thoughts concerning the second story bit.
I am leaning towards LA, however, I don’t see the locals being very sensitive about their heritage. I get the feeling that they are rather proud of it in fact. The only group of people I can think of off the top of my head that would be sensitive about their heritage would either be Charr renegades/separatists/gladiums or the Zephyrites. But I could be wrong on both aspects.
“Two more blocks”: I really don’t think that this refers to distance, but rather two more items that are needed to complete the second part of the recipe. I also feel that this paticular item is under heavy guard, and might be a reward drop from some sort of group event.
Very nice John, you’ve offically piqued my interested with the story bits.
To sum up of what I get out of these clues:
“Lemark wasn’t much of a haggler. the merchant had taken almost every copper he owned, but it was worth it. He was positive this time, no more fakes, no more copies, forgeries or lies, this was it. He could feel it, sinister…ghostly, it felt weird to hold, but he didn’t care, his journey was one quarter complete.”
-Its an expensive NPC merchant item (John Smith: “the mentioning of copper isn’t intended as additional information”)
-It’s part of a guaranteed recipe, not RNG.
-It’s of a ghostly nature.
“Lemark sprinted down the alleyway, an endeavor likely to leave one examining refuse closer than generally preferable, but this wasn’t his first time. He slowed for a moment to glance behind him, merchants still chasing with guards closely behind them. He was surprised they hadn’t given up, they must be very sensitive about their heritage here, the item itself was a bit too everyday to inspire this kind of rage. “Two more blocks”, he thought to himself, double-checking the sealed, cylindrical case he carried. His attempted thievery had failed, for today, but he wasn’t going to lose what he had to the muddy waters of the bay.”
-He is in a city/town/village that is prosperous enough to have both merchants AND guards.
-The place is of a dubious cultural heritage, one that the locals feel VERY strongly about.
-The item is something mundane, yet has enough significance to cause problems, and closely guarded.
-He needs to travel at least some portion underwater to get to it.
Yeah they should be able to get you an appropriate set. They did for my wife when she started and accidently picked heavy armor for her light armored class.
Don’t feel bad, I felt the descriptions on the boxes weren’t very clear as to what box was what armor class.
•Increased the party kick threshold from 40% to 50%.
From todays patch notes!!!! See? They do listen
Thank you!!!!!
Also, if you are concerned about such behavior from said guild, you can always try to contact that guild directly and bring your complaint to the guilds leadership. The larger event guild should have a web page, and who to contact, to facilitate such things. As well as send an in-game report if you felt harassed about it.
To me reping a guild 100% of the time is about loyalty and respect to your guild…and those things mean alot to me…I do not join a guild and treat them like they are a mere group of people that give me benefits in the game…they are my friends my family to me. I won’t just up and join a guild just to rep an event they are pushing people to join their guild. I have run the bosses before without joining a guild or a TS and gotten through them all and actually defeated them all with out so much as hearing a voice. So its possible to kill the bosses without pushing people around.
There is no need to try and make people do something they do not want to. I see no benefit to myself only to the guild in question. I get nothing but the normal personal reward. So I do not need to be pushed into repping their guild. As for the TS I don’t need to be in a groups voice so they can boss me around with a game I play. I listen to whats going on in Map Chat I do not need to go into a guilds TS and be TOLD what to do. There are better ways to organize then to try and dominate people into a certain guilds way of doing things.
If people are pushing you to join their guild, then you have every right to decline. If they are harassing you about it, report and block them. NO ONE can “force” you to join a guild, or play a certain way. As far as TS in bigger events (i.e. Teq, TT, dry top), it certainly is not required. If you know how to do the event, and can coordinate with just in-game chat, thats awesome! However, there are those who are not as familiar with the events, and jumping on TS may help them to coordinate much better and actually succeed. Also, joining a guilds TS does NOT require guild membership. I’ve done all sorts of events/wvw roaming/dungeon runs while in other guilds, and servers, TS. Heck we had our guilds WvW roamers in another guilds TS, and no one from said guild was even present. (they had left, but we stayed in the channel).
Joining a guilds TS for such events, does NOT mean they are trying to boss you around, or tell you what to do. They are simply offering a means to communicate easily, so that everyone is on the same page. They take the time to explain each stage of the event, to call out spots that may be having difficulty, whats going to come up next, etc. In my experience I’ve NEVER seen them call out specific people, or even a group, to do X,Y,Z. They’ll state that point B needs help, or champs are spawning in 10 secs, or something. But thats about it.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience, but really it’s a matter of perception. (I’m not saying yours is “wrong” or anything, but it might help to try to look at differently)
http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/85266/is-the-karma-bonus-from-a-karma-boost-not-shown
I found this. Apparently the karma gained that is shown upon completing the event/heart doesn’t factor in boosters (i.e. +50%), but would show the account karma gain. Also karma consumables (i.e drops, jugs, etc.) are not effected by karma boosters.
Stop faux-guessing and get in early on the REAL answer:
Infinite Continue Coin + Box o’ Fun + 250 Thin Leather + 250 Bloodstone Dust = Portable Super Adventure Box
Anyone who has the means and patience to actually discover the recipe will be busy making 10,000+ gold from this, and certainly not telling anyone the recipe.
How do you think people got rich in the early game. They spend hundreds of hours farming mats to discover recipes then built up large supplies of them before revealing them on the forums.
Dulfy should have it in a couple of hours after the patch, and thats at the latest :P
I would like to throw 4 Anet Developers into the Mystic Toilet.
Would that make one super developer? Although the idea is….interesting…the question is: Do we want to sacrifice 4 great devs for 1 better dev? Even if we did, I can’t think of anyone I would want to give up. :P
There is a rumor that there are more than one John Smith… Maybe that’s it!
We throw in John Smith + John Smith + John Smith + John Smith and we get Back “JOHN SMITH” the ultimate John Smith…
LOL
The multiple John Smiths must be his horcruxes, so by combining them into the forge, we will get the original John Smith back, and then he can once again come back on the forums and say “learn to economics” :P
P.S. No disrespect to the devs or John Smith. I hope they are having as much fun with this thread as we are
(edited by pdavis.8031)
Would that make one super developer?
Knowing the mystic forge you’d probably ending up getting a wildstar developer out of it.
LOL
Either that, or a patch for mounts :P
Reading is hard for people. I post as follows:
p#, L80, experienced
…and it does pretty well on average. The number of times I kick players who enter the dungeon on their L56’s or whatever is astonishing, though. Fortunately, I qualify under Miku’s rules for what counts as experienced in all dungeons, and yeah a lot of times I carry a bunch of bad players, but sometimes I get people who join who really do know what they’re doing. On the flip side, if I don’t advertise for experienced, I never get any experienced players without fail. That’s the only reason I use that advertisement, because it sometimes works as opposed to never works.
It’s not too bad in the end, but it could certainly be better.
strange, I make completely nondescript or “anyone welcome” lfgs and I either get bombed by people who know me or other experienced players from smaller dungeon guilds … who probably recognise my name.
GIVE ME YOUR BAD PLAYERS
PLEASE
Challenge accepted :P
I would like to throw 4 Anet Developers into the Mystic Toilet.
Would that make one super developer? Although the idea is….interesting…the question is: Do we want to sacrifice 4 great devs for 1 better dev? Even if we did, I can’t think of anyone I would want to give up. :P
I am looking forward to seeing what it may be. But the question is, do we know what the recipe will be tomorrow? Or do we just need to experiment and find out for ourselves?
Maybe it’s just me, but I tend to have better experiences in my “Any Welcome” groups, then with an “EXP only” group. I’m not looking for speed clears, or the most optimal runs ever, and I am not disappointed. Most the the problems I have with pugs, come from “EXP only” groups. People raging about why the ranger is carrying a longbow, or why I’m not wearing “zerker”, etc. people getting kicked if they accidently die at some point. People are much more polite, engage in party chat more, and tend to have more fun in an “Any welcome” group.
That being said, I’ve got nothing against those who want the most optimal runs ever, with only zerker/meta builds, or whatever. But using “exp” in the LFG (in my experience) leads to the “elitists” that rage and kick if you don’t meet their exact ideals of how to do the dungeon.
You know. I recieved a PM in game a couple of days ago, this person was trying to get a group together for some sort of compitition. I believe it invloved jumping puzzles and events in the area. The prize was 10g. I declined, but why not something like that? Maybe tie it in with a guild puzzle, the fastest time wins or something…
Zommoros let me in on the fact that he expects to have an item he’s never had before to trade with tomorrow.
Edit 1: I’ll be checking for discovery and giving hints every once in awhile. First one is free
The item has nothing to do with minis.
You said that it doesn’t have anything to do with minis. Assuming you’re pure evil, it definitely has something to do with minis. Can I assume that I will be able to
forge my useless copies of Queen Jennah into something else? And if not, then I hope that you can forge something fabulous!
well you already can forge minis…4 blues for 1 green. 4 greens for a yellow, etc.
My guess is finally being to throw in junk items into the forge. Either that or mystic gathering tools
i want a 1200 shatter range . u should be able to dodge shatters from 1200 range(clones explode on postiion, deal 1200 range aoe dmg)
and lonbgow is 1500 range btw
Longbow range is 1960 not 1500 =)
when traited for it yes…
…
My ex-girlfirend make a ranger and killed me and /laugh on my corpse.
…all is vain
gf left me becos of ranger
Either that or he just played thief so bad she couldn’t handle it anymore…..
So Scarlet rejected the Pale Tree, and the Dream, For whatever reasons. The Soundless, also rejected the Pale Tree, and the Dream, for whatever reasons. Thus by definition Scarlet can be considered Soundless.
Look at it this way. You have the Christian religion as a whole. But within that religion, you also have sects, or demoninations. (i.e Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, Assembly of God, etc.) They are all considered Christian, but follow VERY different theologies and philosophies.
So while Scarlet may have had very different reasons for rejecting the Tree and the Dream, she still can be considered Soundless because she rejected them.
My guess is that when you DC’d you got kicked. Thats why when you came back, the dungeon was closed with progress lost.
Except GW2Spidey’s Gem prices have been wrong since mid August with no indication if it will ever be fixed. The Gold to Gem price is too high and Gem to Gold price is too low. It still shows relative movement but don’t rely on it for actual rates.
I was not aware of that….
OP if you are going to do it, do it soon. It is on an upward trend right now. Just hit 10.01g for 100 gems…
I traded 250 gems and got like 26.6 gold last night… It varies only way to know what you will get is just do it… Wish I could give better advise but really the in game chart is about the best we have….
And if you aren’t near a computer with the game installed, use the API.
https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/commerce/exchange/gems?quantity=100
Use in the number of gems you are looking to convert instead of 100 in the above link and get a real time result of the amount of gold you will get by selling them. Just remember the exchange fluctuates constantly.
For example 2000 gems at this moment is about 207.5g.
This is also a good place to check, if you don’t want/can’t download anything. (I’m at work and can’t download).
Ok maybe I’m just slow, but I’m not seeing a bug…with the pistol whip one, you were immobilized, and tried to pistol whip the enemy, but they were in a position behind you and you missed. The first on, I’m not seeing anything that even looks like a bug…But hey I am not exactly sure what I’m looking for.
Also, I would suggest you change the title to something that reflect what the bug actually is. “Fix it” doesn’t really help the devs or anyone else who may be experiencing this problem. Just an idea.
(edited by pdavis.8031)
I never really understood why people are saying: “GW1 had x,y,z and GW2 doesn’t so Anet needds to add x,y,z to make it more like GW1”
If GW1 is soooo much better then GW2 why aren’t you playing that instead?
With so many classes, skills, maps, etc. There should be LOTS of stuff to still do and explore. If you stopped playing GW1 because you’ve done it all, then even if GW2 added all that, it’ll just be a matter of time, before this game too grows stale and old and people stop playing. Thats just the nature of video games. If there was a video game that offered everything everybody wanted all the time, even that game would eventually die out because player would get bored after a certain amount of time and complain and move on to the next new shiney game that offered what they were looking for. They’ll never be satisfied.
In short, play and enjoy this game for what it is. If you are tired of it, it’s time to reevaluate your gaming needs and move on.
I don’t think of it a a bug, but more of a standardization of language as an in-game mechanic. It’s entirely possible to derive the whole new-Ktytan alphabet in game, and the structure of the language is english as. It’s a letter symbol substitution, you see the same type of things in MANY other games with a written language as well. I don’t think it was an oversight, but rather intentional.
I like it!
I also would like to see a small amount of karma granted for rezzing/assisting players and NPCS. Although I see it getting abused for the karma, defense events always failing just so people can rez the NPCs, players purposely getting killed over and over (fall damage doesn’t hurt armor, so they find a spot and leap like lemmings) just to let people rez them for karma. But exp for rezzing people just seems a bit off, and granting karma instead makes sense, as karma is gained through helping people, events, hearts, etc. Just an idea….
Nothing we suggest here will get implemented in the game anyways on a 1:1 basis.
Anet will make always changes just plain out of copyright and legal right issues they’d have otherwise, if they’d copy our ideas 1:1.
Just on this. By using the forums you have agreed that anything you post is the sole property of Anet.
“To enable ArenaNet (as defined below) to make use of forum member contributions and suggestions related to its games, including but not limited to any text, ideas, art, bug reports, suggestions of any kind or other contributions (“Contributions”), all such Contributions are hereby assigned with all right, title, and interest, including without limitation all intellectual property rights, to ArenaNet, Inc. and its affiliates (including without limitation NCsoft Corporation, NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Ltd.), successors and assigns (collectively “ArenaNet”) and shall be deemed the property of ArenaNet.”
So even IF they were to use your ideas, by clicking the “I agree” button and by use of the forums, you already gave them your permission to do so.
In any case, I am interested to see your proposed changes. Although I for one feel that ranger is in a decent place, and that includes pets.
how about making warrior Healing signet over time heal scale with adrenaline?
The developers have stated they kind of regret putting in so many traits that reward you for not using your adrenaline already, so I doubt they are going to add more.
But I’ve had a similar idea. What about making healing signet heal whenever you gain adrenaline, scaling to the adrenaline gained? This means that passive portion would require active play with your weapon skills, as well as be able to be supplemented by other abilities which grant you adrenaline, such as the signets and several traits. This would also make it work better with faster more active weapons than slower more passive control weapons like the LB and hammer. Giving the warriors control bunker builds the nerfs they have needed for a long time without sacrificing other builds.
As an active, it would basically reverse, resetting your burst skills cooldown and causing expending your adrenaline to heal you.
Hmm interesting. Heres a thought. What about instead of changing HS to do that, why not adjust adrenal health to do that? Instead of granting additional healing for how much adrenaline you have, why not have it for burst healing based on how much adrenaline you’ve used? Not a large amount of course, maybe in line with the current numbers, for a small amount of health gained when using adrenaline bursts. As far as the signet itself goes, grant adrenaline gain on activation, along with the healing, thus granting slightly bigger healing burst if you use an adrenaline skill immedialty afterward.
And what if the burst skill misses? What’s the heal output then? Warriors don’t need more Adrenaline nerfs.
As long as the andrenaline is spent it doesn’t matter if the skill used hits, unlike cleansing ire, which requires a skill to hit. I’m not proposing a massive heal on adrenaline usage, but adding adrenaline gain from using the HS active with a revamped Adrenal Health makes more sense.
I also feel that the passive is in a decent place. Unless you are using cleric or nomads armor, healing power runes, and traiting fully into healing power, the passive health gain tick really isnt that much. At most it might minimize 1-2 stacks of bleed, but anything more than that doesn’t really matter. You only really notice it the most in PvE, or MAYBE WvW, but generally in PvP/WvW you are taking hits so quickly, that the passive healing ticks don’t really make much of a difference.
Neither. I didn’t buy it from the TP, nor did I get it as a random drop, nor through the mystic forge. Mine was given to me by a random forums goer

In my expereince (which may be limited) almost every profession can synergize well with every other profession. Of course it depends on the builds, playstyles, and skill level of your team. Some builds work much better with other builds, like say a staff ele dropping fire fields, lightning fields, water fields, etc. and a burst warrior with combo finishers. Also some builds can be very “selfish” and not provide any sort of “support”. But even these professions/builds can work very well in a team where you have someone playing a support build to allow the “selfish” player to benefit greatly from boons/healing/etc.
It really helps to play regularly with the same team if you can. You get to know what they are bringing to the team, how they play and how good they are, and can adapt to work with those players for the greatest synergy. TPvP is going to be the best for that, and SoloQ will be the most difficult as you don’t really know the players, what they are playing, and what their skill level is.
I’m on the wall with this cuz I feel there’d be a loss of an important gold sink if it was easily adjustable. If they did allow for selectable runes/sigils, it should require a fairly hefty gold sink to balance out the lowering of demand for expensive runes/sigils. And that’s something I don’t want to happen.
Your gear should level up with you as you level your character, so if you’re experimenting with builds, I’d suggest instead getting a full set of exotic armor with the runes you’re testing and salvage it after testing if you decide to use it on your ascended. But just using ascended as a test and replacing expensive runes is more your fault I’d say.
I would just point out that buying runes on the TP isn’t much of a gold sink. Only 15% of the sale is being removed when you buy from the TP. Granted those fees in general are a HUGE and much needed gold sink, but that is also factored over tens of thousands of TP transactions per day. Even so, you’ll still need to buy the runes/sigils in order to unlock them, so it won’t really effect rune/sigil sales at all, unless it’s an increased demand, especially for high end runes/sigils (i.e. strength runes/intelligence sigils).
Well there is this: http://gw2dps.david-reess.de/
but it’s mostly meta builds, and group DPS for PvE I believe. It may not be exactly what you are looking for, but it may be a starting point.
I thought thats what the upgrade extractor was for?
Even if you buy the 25-pack of upgrade extractors for 5K gems, each extractor will cost around 30 gold with the current exchange ratio. Buying new runes is cheaper.
Yes I get that, and said that it was WAY too expensive, thus not really a viable option. Either Anet changes it from being charges, to being more like the salvage-o-matics, or reduce the price dramatically, brining it more in-line with transmutation charges. Perhaps even grant them as they would transmutation charges (via pvp, map completion, daily/monthly chests ect.) because as of now, I don’t see them being a very popular item on the gem store.
(edited by pdavis.8031)
I thought thats what the upgrade extractor was for? While I agree that ascended and legendary weapons and armor should have this ability, and have spoken for it in another similar thread about legendaries and sigils, I believe Anets response to that issue was the upgrade extractor. Hopefully they change that, and just make them unlockable, like skins and the wardrobe, and even require transmutation charges in order to change them, or just make a permenent upgrade extractor. As of now, it’s 1350 gems for 6 to change out 1 set on your armor, which is WAY to expensive IMO.

A server loyalty buff would be a helpful way to prevent transfers. Maybe some kind of bonus the longer you stay on a server that caps at 3 months time?
A loyalty buff would be a great idea. Regardless of how long till it becomes active, maybe also have it grant bonuses based on how those servers tend to play. (ex. DB is more about zerg fights, so they get a bonus to WvW exp for player kills, while SoS is more about capping and holding keeps/towers so they get bonus WvW exp for successful defense events) Although that may be a bit difficult to implement, as servers perferred play styles will change, as the “older” generation of WvWers moves on, and a “younger” one comes up. But either way, having a decent loyalty bonus to enourage players/guilds to stay I think would go VERY far in helping population balance.
hmmm interesting…So essentially you are saying that it’s not that WvW is broke (or rather the matchup system) but the players are. That actually makes sense. I can fully agree with that.
But to answer your question, “Are server transfers healthy for the game.” I would have to say that yes, they are. However, just like everything, if it geta abused it can become unhealthy and begin to cause some majr issues. I am glad I was able to transfer servers. I started with a small group of friends in DB, however shortly after I started they ended up quitting, and playing less and less. So I got some of my other friends to play, but they couldn’t get on to DB, so they all joined SBI. (Now this was in the days before megaserver, and guesting). So I hopped over to SBI and been there ever since. I’ve found an awesome guild, and good friends. Now I believe this is what transfering was originally intended for. But as I said, it got abused. I don’t think the match ups and server stacking issues are caused by transfers though. As you said, it’s more the players who are looking for easy wins, or “better” rewards.
I’m certainly not saying WvW is not broken. It is flawed in it’s core mechanics (PPT and Coverage). What I’m suggesting is these mechanics force players to leave a server in hopes of fixing them, when the only way to fix these problems it to play on a high tier server that has coverage and a good foundation.
Server transfers prevent many servers from establishing a solid foundation needed to compete in WvW. Without a proper, broad based WvW community a server has no chance in rising in tiers or attracting new players to their server. People get frustrated, get tired of trying to fix problems and look for an easy solution, which currently means transferring to a “better” server. If they don’t find what they like, which in my experience many don’t, they end up quitting the game.
In my opinion transfers are largely the result of players seeking a solution to flawed WvW mechanics, I believe they are currently causing more problems for lower and mid tier servers and do more harm to the community and player base than good.
Keep in mind I’m discussing players leaving for the purpose of finding a better WvW environment, not leaving for the desire to play with friends, or join a better guild.
Oh yes, I agree, maybe I didn’t make it clear. Yes WvW (in respect to PPT and coverage)is most definitely broken, and as you stated, the reason people leave. But again, I feel that it’s not the transfers that are causing the problem. Its the people. Lets say YB has such good coverage, that SBI and IOJ feel that anything they do is so utterly worthless, they transfer to YB. So what just happened? The players that felt such a large imbalance in population, created a bigger imbalance in population. Is that the fault of being able to transfer? Or the players who felt the only way to “win” was to join the “enemy”?
So what solution is there to retain players on a patricular server? Stopping transfers I feel would only cause those players to either stop playing WvW or quit the game altogether. There needs to be either a change in how the scoring system works (as in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Scoring-Discussion/page/7#post4488556) or more incentives to stay with your server. Give the players a reason to stay with SBI or IOJ (or whatever) and they won’t have a reason to leave. This would also include how the rewards for WvW work. From what I understand people want to transfer to a “winning” server for “better” fights. But with “better” fights, comes better rewards (i.e more loot bags and badges from wiping enemy zergs).
Until the whole rewards/scoring systems changed for WvW, you’ll always have the problem of “fair weather” players/guilds jumping ship when they see that they can get more and better stuff from transferring
Seems familiar to what I’ve been having for so long. (I heard somewhere that only guild leaders or officers have it)
Sometimes when I log in and try to right click whisper or click on name in chat to whisper, the whisper channel will not appear at all. It will, however, appear 5 or 10m later. If previously, I spammed the whisper, they will all pop up in a row.
What I learnt is that if the 1st whisper attempt doesnt work, do not keep trying or it will all pop up later. I simply wait for the 1st attemp to pop up.
Or ask the person to whisper you (ask on guild chat, send a mail), then you can reply back just fine.
Or just restart the game. This will fix it for sure. (I am just lazy to do it sometimes)
I had this happen a few days ago myself. It wasn’t a huge issue, but was a bit of a concern.
hmmm interesting…So essentially you are saying that it’s not that WvW is broke (or rather the matchup system) but the players are.
I don’t know if its been brought up already, but what about including resource nodes within the guild hall? Similar to the nodes in the home instance, but having 1 node of each type? (i.e 1 iron, 1 silver, 1 strawberry, 1 pumpkin, 1 soft wood, 1 hard wood, etc.) only once per day per account. This would be a guild upgrade item(s) that needed to be purchased and activated much like the other guild buffs (i.e guild increased MF, or reduced WP cost). Just a thought.
I don’t know, I was playing my ranger on tpvp last night, and actually 1v1d a turret engi camping on far (their home) several times, and won each time. Either that engi wasn’t very good (which I highly suspect) or I am better then I thought (which is extremely doubtful) . With LB and read the wind trait, you can snip his turrets without being in any danger from them. In doing so, it drew out the engi from all his turrets, and I was able to take him out fairly easily after that. So maybe that was his mistake for leaving the protection of his turrets, but either way I learned that it’s better to stay back and take out turrets if you can before jumping in for a close kill. Yeah they can be difficult and frustrating, but charging headlong into the frey is going to get you killed every times. Just need to come up with a better strategy…
Just on the Norn and ravens…
Ravens and other carrion birds are thought thoughout many religions to be either an avatar of death, or a spirit guide to guide them to “heaven” (or other place of peace) in the afterlife. So it would make sense for a Raven shaman to be able to summon spirits just like a priest of Grenth. I don’t think there is any exact corralation between Grenth and Raven spirits, other then both are used in relation to death. The way I see it, is that the Silvari, Asura, Norn, Human, and Charr, all share similarities in their belief systems, but each is based on their own paticular racial perception and cultures. The human gods, and the norn spirits. The Silvari dream and the Asura eternal alchemy. The Charr seem to be either aethiestic, or agnostic. (they may believe that the gods do exist, but don’t really have anything to do with them, or are a force to test themselves against).
Just some thoughts…
I have to agree with mtpelion. The issue isn’t on Anet’s side, it’s on your PC (“your” being anyone who is having the issue). Having worked as tech support for Microsoft at one point, there were actually some thing we were NOT allowed to do on a clients machine. We could give them advice on what to do but even that advice had to include a disclaimer that we were not responsible if things went horribly horribly wrong. I think Anet my be in a similiar situation, as the problem isn’t with their software, there isn’t much they can tell you.
Now if you don’t feel you can trust random people on a forum, at least take into consideration, that anyone posting help in a tech support forum, more then likely has a pretty good grasp of the situation, and either knows what to do, or how to find what to do. I myself have an A+ certification, and 4 years of tech support experience with Microsoft. But hey, I might just be a “random forum guy” who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
