recognize my command!”
Naming a game after a completely and utterly irrelevant bit of history that has no bearing on anything found in the game itself would be an act of idiocy of a magnitude so enormous, I can’t believe anyone writing a game would fall victim to it.
Mass Effect. Everquest. Dragon Age. The Elder Scrolls. Shall I continue?
Yes please!
Also tell us the reasoning behind Final Fantasy! As this name has no bearing on anything found in the game, or the series. Kthnxbye!!
While it seems cool, and appears to be legit, it is possible for it to be picked up by Anets third party program filters and flagged for botting/hacking/exploiting. You won’t get an official “yes” or “no” on such a program, But these links might help you decide if you want to use the program or not.

Been using it for about a year with no problem but everyone is different but that doesn’t mean something won’t happen in the next 10 mins KITTEN!!!!
Nice. With my luck, I’ll try it and get banned :P
In fact, that Arah Personal Mission “Air Drop” or how it is called in English, that lets <you fight the misison in a siege golem with that Super LAZOR easily gives you a couple of hundreds of kills, which will count all towards hammer.
Basically you can max out the achievement alot with this mission, if you stop the mission, before you end it, and repeat it nonstop until you have killed as a golem enough undeads to hit the 5000 kills.
Alone with this mission and several of my characters on my account I did, before i actually used a real hammer with my warrior while exploring for his 100% around 1350 Kills , and among of that at least 3x that mission, so basically half of those kills come only from that 1 mission.
How I got the other half is even a riddle to me self xD But I guess it comes from kills as Raven Avatar ect. what has been said here.
I don’t remember driving a golem in the PS!? I might need to go check that out again!
And I would like to link, for you, this:
This is the Cinematic Trailer for Guild Wars Prophecies. If this game was truly as PvP-focused as you’re claiming, then the cinematic trailer wouldn’t be showing off only humans fighting down monsters. It would show humans fighting against other humans, to pump up the “Player versus Player” point of the game.
But, it doesn’t. It’s a PvE monster-slayer, just like it was always intended to be.
I understand what you are trying to say. And the video sure does not mention Guilds in any shape or form indeed.
The bottom line (and also the topic of this thread) is that Guild Wars 1 was a suitable name, while Guild Wars 2 is simply not anymore.
So GW2 is not a suitable name because it doesn’t have GvG? But it is a continuation of the story of Tyria. The events of GW1 have brought the world to the point that it is now.
And WoW is the continuation of the story of the warcraft series, yet it is not called Warcraft 4
No, because Warcraft moved from being an RTS to an MMO. And with an MMO you have a much more expansive, evolving and changing world. Thus WORLD of Warcraft.
And GW moved from being a coorpg to an MMO, my point is the continuation of the story shouldn’t be enough to put a “2” next to its name
I feel that it is entirely appropriate to add a “2” to it. One could also argue the naming conventions of Final Fantasy. None of these games are in any way sequals or prequals to any of the other. (With the exception of FFVII: Crisis Core, FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus, and XII-2). Also XI moved from being a turn based RPG to an MMO, yet kept the naming convention.
My point is, that Guild Wars 2, being a continuation, is enough to call it “2”. But I believe the name was partially due to keep the Guild Wars name, and the story, and to be more recognizable. As far as the original name, I don’t think that it was called such as a shout out to PvP/GvG, but to draw attention to the story as a whole.
I played Guild Wars 1 for a little bit, but couldn’t get too much into it. If the name of this game change to Tryia: The battle of the dragons, or something, I probably would have overlooked it. But the name Guild Wars, was already known, and recognizable. Calling it anything else, I feel would not have brought the success that it has.

Chech the video i posted in the original post. ^^
What about it? About 90% of that video is PvE with the last 15 or so seconds being PvP.
Is the video showing pve? Sure. What is the whole message though? It mentions the word: guild MANY times, 6x times i believe. The whole video indicates of Guilds being a big role of the game. Proof: (i quote from the video)
1.) “Our guild gathers before each battle.” – 0:07
2.)“As guild members we spend our time training, to master our unique skills, to earn a right to call ourselves guild members” -0:48
3.)“Other guilds will confront us.” ---> the biggest proof of GwGing, and besides, the video is ALL about guilds, guild members gathering before battle and fighting other guilds etc.
Yes, but that doesn’t mean that it was GvG centric, and thus named as such. It means that guilds (referring to “The Guild Wars”) are a big part of the game. That doesn’t meant that because you have guilds, and you have a game mode that supports GvG and PvP, doesn’t mean thats what the game is named for.
So if Guild Wars was named for GvG/PvP, then they created the whole game around those aspects. But as an CORPG (cooperative online role playing game) they would then need to write a whole back story, create an entire lore structure, and several story based expansions and an entire PvE mode JUST to justify using the name Guild Wars.
I disagree. Guild Wars was first and foremost an online RPG. You really can’t have an RPG (tabletop, online, or otherwise) without a story narrative, lore, and history. Sure the PvP/GvG was included into this world, but more as a player mechanic then anything. If it was supposed to be based on PvP/GvG, thus the name Guild Wars, then by definition it wouldn’t be an RPG. It would be more of a MOBA (Massive Online Battle Arena) than anything.
I didn’t think the map was that bad. OF course the glass, and people spamming fear gets a bit irritating, but that just means you have to change your tatics/build to compensate.
Just stuff from traits, sigils, and runes. No food was used. I tried to take a screen shot, but for whatever reason, it wouldn’t capture the tooltip.

I generally run something like this. But in this example it shows blood is power at 55.75s Either way when I am testing it on the indestructible golem, it only applied 47s of bleed.

I would think that lightning hammer would count for “hammer” kills, as it is a hammer…made of out lightning…with an ele this is entirely possible.

I don’t think that the removable drive would cause those issues. As far as temps being too high, your processor operates between 55c-71c
(http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Athlon%20II%20X4%20640%20-%20ADX640WFK42GM%20(ADX640WFGMBOX).html)
So 51c-52c doesn’t seem too hot for that chip. But cleaning it out certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Just for kicks and giggles, try checking out the java thing. If your RAM is fine, and your CPU isn’t too hot, it would point to something else causing the issue, and from what I’ve seen in various places Java tends to be the culprit. Although it could very well be a different program altogether.
On the blood is power tool tip (necro) the duration, (with buffs and condi duration) says it is 59.5 sec but when I use in on a golem target in HotM, it only goes for 47s max.
Thanks!
Also this article looked interesting. Maybe something is going on here as well.
http://www.ghacks.net/2007/05/10/the-memory-could-not-be-read-error/
Uhh…yeah…I would ignore that article because the guy that wrote it is an idiot and has no clue about what he’s talking about.
However, I do agree that this appears to be a RAM problem (or possibly a third-party program in memory that is conflicting with GW2).
Maybe, but ive seen similar solutions in at least 4 different places. Either way if its not a ram problem, then it would be a place to start, at the very least.
Wait…I thought the game was dead, WvW was almost a barren desert and no one played this game anymore?
I am not sure how the server population is determined, as you can still get on a full server at non peak times. But just because its full doesn’t mean that the WvW population is going to be a healthy one. Maybe people just don’t like to WvW there…who knows.

Hmmm
That “Memory at address bdc98488 could not be read” message leads me to think about possible RAM issues. Try to run the memory test tool and see what happens.
To run the tool:
Open Memory Diagnostics Tool by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Memory, and then click Diagnose your computer’s memory problems.? If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Also, the Cataclysm as well as the Rising of Orr, the centaurs wreaking havoc, Jormag, among others, would also have a dramatic effect on the eco systems, not only at the source, but in neighboring areas as well.
I love combos. I try to set them up and use them all the time. Warrior has some decent whirl finishers, and leap finishers. Elementalist and might stacking combos are almost a requirement. Staff eles also have some combos they can setup and use them selves. I personally like using lightning fields for area swiftness when escourting yaks in WvW
Like others have said start your own LFG. Put in the description that you are new, and you shouldn’t have many problems. I sometimes even start LFGs using “Training run, noobs only” or something similar to help out those just starting. Also check out the dungeon forums. I think there is a dungeon mentoring group there.
I did cooking to 200 the other day, and it took me to level 10. So yeah I would say it was fixed:)
I wouldn’t be opposed to a in game survey of some sort, however making a huge pop up would irritate me more then anything. Send a mail, with a link. Make it non intrusion and it will probably be much better recieved.
But thats what the CDIs are for. They gather player feedback on what they would like to see. The current one is about Guilds, and how to fix/change/add what is desired for guilds. This system apparently seems to work rather well, as many of the current changes were a direct result for past CDIs. Having a voting system as to what should or shouldn’t be fixed/changed/added would not be a very good idea. Who would determine the things that are voted on? Anet, or the players? So we have a vote to determine what gets to be voted on.
Either way, I think that having the players decide what gets to be put into the game would be disaterous. I read a quote, and posted it before, from the creator of pokemon. Basically he says, that if they were to add in everything the players wanted, the game would be an unplayable monstrosity. I agree the same thing would happen to this game if the players chose what and what not to add to this game.
Yeah, going to have to agree about necro being awesome and amazing in WvW/PvP. PvE is meh… Condi builds are hurt by the condi cap, and lack of group utility does make them less then desirable for speed runs. But power necros can actually be fairly decent, if you know how to play it.
I use my necro condi build in WvW and PvP, and do much better then my warrior. I love watching the stacks of bleeds just melt people. A well placed well of darkness and corruption can be VERY helpful in a zerg, as well as small group havoc/roaming. Also Boon Corruption has saved my behind more times then I care to admit. Yeah necros are fine.
Also I’ve seen several people saying that running in XP compatibility mode has worked, as well as reverting back to nvidia 314 drivers, as the 320 drivers were causing the problem.

This thread started a year ago, talks about the exact same issue. However the only “solution” I could find was to run the game in windowed mode. I suppose you could try that and see what happenes. But I’ll try to keep looking.
I believe this is the thread. They are well aware of this issue, and are working on it. I had the same problem and running a client repair fixed it for me.
Apple’s always allowed third party software. That’s what apps (usually) are.
True, but Apple is VERY strict on what is and isn’t be allowed in their store and on their devices.
Wait, what!?
Apple….allowing THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE!?
What sorcery is this!?
I know there are some for Android. World boss timers, crafting stuff and the like. Haven’t heard of anything for Apple though.

why is the screenshot not ‘you ’re op!’

Try to do a -repair and see if that helps. Any issues I’ve had with running/starting the game are generally fixed with this. Hope it help!

The shoulder spikes were bone, like their horns. It isn’t really fashion. But it didn’t make sense either.
My guess is it’s like the Klingon foreheads changing from the Original Series to the Next Generation. It’s not known how, or when, the change took place but they don’t like to talk about it. (It’s been brought up a couple of times)
No, we the audience know. It’s just that the they don’t like discussing it with outsiders.
True, however this story arc didn’t come out until Enterprise as more of an appeal to fans. Either way its widely off topic.
What about a heavy armor class, that uses med/light weapons? (i.e. dagger, axe, shortbow, mace, pistol, etc.) Something like a cross between a warrior/ranger. For mechanics, something along the lines of having an adrenaline “type” bar, that allows to summon something of various levels depending on how full the bar is. Like a lesser being at stage 1, a being at stage 2, and a major being at stage 3. Call it a summoner.
(just throwing out ideas, no need to debate as to why this couldn’t work, and how OP it would be etc.)
Kinda similar to my previous idea. This could work well too.
Yeah, but I feel that summoning spirits and whatnot fit more into a necro than anything, or a norn at the very least. Yet, summoning elementals doesn’t quite fit either. What about it summons a creature from the mists based on the trait lines or “attunement”? like Nature, Aether, Abyssal, and Divine?
This would make it more of a cross between warrrior/ranger/elementalist, but still could be alot of fun.
Necromancers don’t really summon spirits, though. They reanimate corpses and flesh. Rangers and guardians are more in-tune with spirits than a necromancer, and they don’t interact with the right kind.
Thats true….so the antiguardian/summoner with spirits and the like could work.

What would be the lore behind it, however? All of the professions so far have solid lore behind them about what they are, and why they’re how they are. I just don’t see this proposed class working in any way at all, it just seems like a mashup of random ideas. :-|
Again, just throwing out ideas. Of course they could create a “new lore” to fit it with this idea. or adjust existing lore to suit their needs.

I used dungeon armor. Usually the cheapest. Do some dungeon runs, make money, buy armor, and salvage
Thats odd…
I have played around with it on Ubuntu 13.10 , and got a wierd “Fog of war” type effect. From what I understood, its more of an issue with wine and directX, but I could be wrong.
Hmmm i was not aware of that. Ill have to check that out. But it makes sense.
If you die to a Rangers rapid fire…you die in real life.
(couldn’t resist :P)
The details on DR are not known because they don’t want gold farmers (and potentially high end farming players) to be able to get around them easily as allowing all players to endless farm any specific items (or mobs) is not healthy for the economy.
You can farm, but not infinitely…this is a better solution than just not allowing it at all (IMO).
In my experience, DR kicks in much sooner than 300 mobs…..but it could vary widely (or even have some RNG aspect we don’t know about).
While I agree with your point, I would say that it is more targeted toward bots then players. (although players are affected as well) While infinitely being able to farm mobs would be unhealthy for the economy, most players, even the more hardcare farmers, aren’t going to spend 14 hours a day just farming mobs.
Hmm interesting.
Out of those matchups, who are you predicting to come out on top for week 2?
After we finished the fairest round of season 3,
now for the basest round of season 3:The top-tier servers of each league spread out to crush the rest.

And I’m also assuming that SI is SBI?
Hi!!
So we are drawing near to the end of Week 1 of the Tournament! It’s been fun, and I’ve personally have had a blast!
I don’t know where I would even go to find out who will be matched up for next week, or what tiers they are done, or how that whole system even works.
In any case, I would like to hear your thoughts on who you think will be matched up for next week, and who will win those matchups?
Why? Because these things are fun! And speculation on such things is fun! So lets have it!!

I actually like farming Dry Top. Lots of great spots for T6 mats. I don’t go to farm Geodes, but if I am near an event I’ll do it. I didn’t much care the the Favor Tiers, haven’t found anything I really wanted there, but the mat drops are pretty decent.
Well if you are running the client, it’s going to automatically download and install all the patches and fixes. So you aren’t going to be able to run the game without the latest patch being installed.
Hmmm.
This sounds is ONLY produced when running GW2? You said your friend noticed in in Skype as well, but were you running the game while on Skype?
Yeah, that is odd. Try to uninstall and reinstall your drivers and see what happens.
This should walk you through it.

If that doesn’t work. Try to do a driver update and see what happens.
