I’ve only gotten a few hate PMs. One was on my ranger and I sucessfully 1v1 a thief. I got lucky and dodged his stealth bursts twice. He almost had me before I took him down. But he was very upset, calling my b***h, noob, etc. Although he did destroy me several times during that match, he was still all kitteny about it :P

I had another refuse to kill me while I was downed. Would wait until I had almost rezzed, then drop me back down again. Eventually I gave up and just bled out, but we were joking about it. Not so much hate, but rather cheap move :P

So I’m confused. The log shows that you took a large amount of damage from “Elite Risen Plague Carrier” and correctly displayed that information. But, it didn’t display the other damage that killed you?

Or was it that it only displayed the damage that killed you but didn’t display the damage that downed you?

The unknown was actually a bug from what I understand. Apparently it’s been fixed now, so now the combat log correctly displays the damaged recieved, and where you recieved it from.

Is it even possible, given the changes that came about in the world?

as (instanced) raid content perhaps? as some people asked for similar content when it comes to large group coordination.

The only way it could logically work is to have instanced raid conent. The open world nature of the events really would make it near impossible to play. Some of those events took nearly a full map of people to do. Plus having all these past events going on on a continual basis just wouldn’t make sense. So while LA is being attacked, we are also still learning about Scarlett, and the tower of nightmares is in full swing, and Scarlett is also dead? The continuity of it all just makes my head hurt trying to think about it.

But the CDIs talking about raids and such could be a huge plateform for being able to reopen these events. Granted some of the mechanics would need to be tweaked in order for a smaller group to be able to do it.

Weapon choice?

in Warrior

Posted by: pdavis.8031

pdavis.8031

As a new warrior, I would suggest trying out a few different things first, and seeing what works for you. I myself prefer Axe/Axe, but that was after trying out all the weapons and getting familiar with them. Axe/mace is one of the favorites, but that doesn’t mean you need to be locked into that, especially if you find you don’t really care for it.

As far as other gear, just take what you get get while leveling, and focus on power, as this will probably help you the most to level up.

pdavis.8031

Well I would reccomend PvP for gearing up your warrior. The dungeon reward tracks offer dungeon gear, as well as dungeon tokens to by more gear. In PvP it doesn’t matter what armor you are wearing, as all the stats are normalized, and gained through amulets.

But if you aren’t enjoying your warrior, roll something else. You can always still get gear for your warrior with your other characters so it’s not a huge deal.

Though the other npc says bloodstone dust is not meant for consumption.

that is because he is either uniformed, stubborn, or unwilling to accept/jealous of the other chefs creativity. Chefs get like that when they become complacent, and young inspired chefs come along and find new ways to prepare food, and that’s how change happens in the culinary world.

I don’t know if it’s that, he is a Priory cook, so he might know a thing or two. However, it could very well be a possibility if the second chef decided to try to use it and come up with some recipes anyway. The problem is though, that such recipes while they may provide fantastic buffs, there could be unexpected side effects….

Last time I checked, no one in Tyria was saying anything about the 5 star cuisine coming out of the Priory. He is basically akin to a military chef, or a school lunch chef, probably making the same dishes day in and day out for years, to feed lots and lots of people. That certainly is what creates complacency in the culinary world.

I will say though, I do like the idea of food with great buffs and penalties as well, providing the penalties aren’t substantial.

While he may be more akin to a military cook, or school lunch chef, his response (at least to me) implies that he had thought of using the dust himself. But was dissuaded by the scholars and those in the know about bloodstone dust to be a bad idea. I wouldn’t put it past the Priory to have at least tried it at some point, but the results were less then favorable (i.e. people died horrible deaths) and thus it was declared unfit for consumption.

Anet Teasing Us?

- New amazing looking PvE map that relies on WvW mechanics
- West part of the map looks like a GvG map teaser
- Little area to show us that open world PvP is quite possible and easy (we could have optional duels, opens possibilities for battle arenas)
- Finally an amazing Living story glass/crystal area that would be a perfect ambience for a dungeon or PvP arena but instead is made to be played alone

Is this a teaser of things to come? Competitive players have been waiting for new content for a year…

I agree, there are some very cool things that can be done with this new map, and other areas introduced in the LS. However, I believe the area you are referring to about open world PvP, was actually a bug, and not intended as it has been fixed.

•Fixed an issue in which players who paid to safely enter a bandit camp in the Silverwastes were attackable by normal players.

However, it does show that the mechanics can be used for open world PvP (open world referring to arenas and special areas to do such things, as I feel a completely open world PvP would not be very popular in this game, and with the way co-operation is encouraged and needed in PvE, just wouldn’t fit very well IMO) and may be a foreshadowing of things to come.

Rangers are easy to play. Thats why so many people are running them now days.

Easy to play =/= Being effective.

Of course easy to play does not equal being effective. But that doesn’t mean they are overpowered either. Warrior is also easy to play, but in the hands of a poor player they are not effective.

I think many people are subscribing to the idea that rangers are OP, so “if you can’t beat em, join em”. So they roll a ranger so they can be OP in PvP, and get easy kills/wins. But unless they are a decent player to begin with, they tend to find that the opposite is true and aren’t all that OP.

Rangers are easy to play. Thats why so many people are running them now days. They work well with others in a team. I can sit at range, picking off enemies while another runs in and keeps them distracted, but I guess that means they are OP. But then any ranged profession can do exactly the same with the same outcome. There are more then enough counters to rangers that if the other team has the right setup (any blocks, reflects, gap closers, etc.) they can burn rangers like firewood. In that case rangers are more of a liability than anything. No rangers are not overpowered, they are just “ultra cheese mode” against players who don’t know how to handle them.

As far as the first part, I thought it was done well. It did bring closure to Belindas death, but also the possibilities of the Delaqua family blade being infused. As far as the ghosts in Fort Salama, I thought they behaved almost exactly like the Ascalonian ghosts, in that they viewed everyone as an enemy. And it fits very nicely. I am hoping the next chapter deals with the ghost infused blade, and can see it tying in somehow to Rytlocks mission and the Ascalonian ghosts.

It happens. But it could also be just a random act of kindness. Either way there should be no repercussions for just sending it back, with a note saying that you don’t feel comfortable about recieving it. If it was an accident, great the person sending it didn’t get screwed, and if it was a legit random gift, then the sender will probably be grateful, and send them again…

Just because I don’t have a “high rank” doesn’t automatically disqualify anything I say. However, My list and the shot at meditation guards, was more tongue in cheek. If you are to believe the forums, then every profession, and every build is OP.

Also, while meditation guards may not be popular in high rank tpvp, I do see a fair number of them in the dredges of the lower ranks. My guess would be that it’s more a cheese build, and once players begin to improve and climb rank, they realize that meditation builds aren’t all that and a bag of chips and switch to something else.

But I think they were refering to crafting in EQ, where it is entirely possible to be much more profitable than crafting in GW2

^^ yeah, though at that time it was a MUCH smaller profit than it had been before.(IMO not worth it, but she enjoyed it so /shrug)

Way back in original EQ the tradeskillers were the filthy wealthy people along with a handful of hardcore players who got and were willing to sell some ridiculously good items. My first guild ever was actually “Yarblek Industries” which was a merchant guild where we crafted sub combines for each other for cheap.

The only EQ I really got into was project 1999, it was vanilla but mostly older nostalgic players. I never pursued crafting, but if teamed up with a farmer, I could imagine it could be somewhat profitable.

@OP

Just a few things.

On the customer service. While yes there is the possibility for an increase of tickets to deal with, with griefers, scammers, etc. Again that is what CS is being paid to do. I have worked CS for many years, and while it can be a very rewarding job, it also has it’s downsides. But thats the job you signed up for and need to take the bad with the good. If there are people in the CS dept. that feel they cannot handle the tickets concerning dungeon selling, then they wouldn’t still be working there.

As far as the ToS is concerned. It’s not against the ToS. Buying a run is a valid form of playing the game. To pay for the run they either had to play the game to get the gold, or use gems to convert, which are paid for with real money. Granted if they get scammed, they can certainly report the person/submit a ticket, but they won’t recieve their gold back.

In any case, it doesn’t really “harm” the game or effect anything. If you feel such thing is bad or wrong, don’t participate. Just play and let play. You’ll live longer.

It really sucks to take a face full of your own rapid fire.

In theory it should, its just one button == one action, however it’s the holding it down that might cause issues, unless it could be on a delay so that it’s not rapid, but as fast as double clicking would be.

Of course this is something that you will never get an official yea or nay on. At the most you’ll get a link or a quote from a dev concerning their macro policy.

(only have it on one, for the gift of exploration). I enjoy dungeon runs from time to time, as well as PvP. But I’m not driven by scores, levels, etc. I don’t seek out cosmetics or unique items. But I do have a group of friends I play with, whether dungeons, world bosses, WvW, or PvP. I find this is a great casual game where I can log iin and fart around for a couple of hours and have fun doing what ever. As far as fulfillment, I don’t find fulfillment in this game as far as rewards, feeling of acomplishments, etc. What I do find satisfying though, is killing some mobs/players in a really fun environment and relaxing. Not having to think to much, and just unwind and have fun.

I do understand you guys, but what Im saying is that these days in this game there is not holy Trinity but there is only DPS trinity (from my own experience) most all dungeons require player to have a DPS build or Else, they get kicked, and that is because the dungeons dont require a tank, healer or support players in the party because most of the time speed runs will skip most parts of a dungeon or keep stacking in a corner, and these 2 tactics dont require to have a tank healer or Condtion AOE, which is why its a bad gameplay design, what Im trying to say is ArenaNet still have a the chance to fix this by making the dungeons as hard as its for level 35 or 65 players (regardless of experienced or not), so we wont see the “80s, ZERKERS, EXPERIENCED” trinity anymore, specially in the lower level dungeons

Ok so it seems that your issue is not so much that there is no trinity (i.e. no healing or tank roles), but that with the current combat and dungeon design is that it makes traditional roles of the tank and healer obsolete. There will always be “zerker only 80 exp” groups as long as combat is the way it is.

There is NO way to fix this. You make dungeons harder? Well people will be even more picky about their groups, instead of “zerker” only, you’ll have “zerker meta only” For the type of people who start/join these types of group are looking for speed runs. They don’t want to spend any more time then absolutley necessary in the dungeon. You nerf beserker again, so that it is completely useless? Assassins becomes the meta. Nerf that, then what Valk? Soldiers? Where do you stop? The problem isn’t in the gear, or the combat mechanics. The problem is that people want to play in the most effecient way possible, and will find out the best possible way to do that. It’s not a game flaw, it’s a people “flaw” (if you can consider it that). And there is nothing you can change or do in game to change that.

Connection between dragons and gods

Although some of these are good ideas, and I love the train of thought, I have a feeling that it is much more simple than that. There are 6 gods, and 6 dragons. There is little known about the 6 gods, and even less about the dragons. We do know that the last batch of gods, were not the only ones, and in fact had predessors. The only thing we do know about the dragons, is that they woke up about 20,000 years ago, and have been around for forever.

So I’m thinking that both the dragons and gods can be seen as a type of Yin and Yang. They balance each other out. The gods brought/bring magic to Tyria, and the dragons consume it. The gods are the guardians of Tyria representing the peoples/creature on the earth (i.e. life, death, illusion, beauty, etc.) while the dragons are the antagonists, representing the earth itself (i.e. Plants, nature, elements, etc.) Its an eternal war that cannot be won by either side. The dragons wake up, cause mass destruction, and devour magic, then go back to sleep. The gods arrive, bring magic and restoration to the races of Tyria, then leave. Then after so many eons, the cycle begins again.

Only other thing I can think of is that the stock got bought out (maybe lowbies who want to use the Labyrinth for leveling?) and the high price was just ancient listings.

Thats what I was thinking, but the highest price was just a few days ago on the 27th. So maybe there was a surge for the labyrinth, then leveled out again. I don’t know about lowbies leveling in the labyrinth though, but it certainly could be useful. Although I don’t think that you can use sigils on the weapons in the labyrinth. So there had to be another reason those things get super popular for a bit. The only other reason I can think of was that someone DID buy out all the stock, and slowly trickled them back in to set the new price and make some money.

Why can’t you use the sigils in the labyrinth? You use your own gear in there. Perhaps you are thinking of the PvP game inquisition?

You’re right my bad…I suppose then that could be the case, instead of the tinfoil hat theory that someone TP baron is manipulating the prices :P
