It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
I often think of this when I see some suggestions.
http://www.funnyjunk.com/Pokemon+creator+has+something+to+say/funny-pictures/5149498/
It’s probably not a legit quote, but the idea behind it is sound. What often sounds like a good idea to us, just actually might make the game nearly unplayable. The devs have to filter out the suggestions. Many suggestions are taken into account, and some are even implemented. But I am sure that most go ignored. As said before, we don’t know the inner workings of Anet or the game, and that great idea, that everyone may love, may just turn out to end up breaking the game.
pdavis – you probaly mean about failing an event on purpose to to have less to do to clean the whole map but you need to think the other way arround ..if you managed to suceed a row of events the bonuses are just getting better.. let´s there is an event where you first have to defend people , then build there farm up again and then killing the champ which destroyed it.. thats an event chain , you could just fail it on the first event yes , but if you for example manage to defend the seperahts , they gonna help you cleaningthe map, if you succeed the following event building the farm up again you recieve +300 vita as a bonus stat and if you manage to kill this giant champ then you get an extra life for the hardmode an all bonuses are getting multicated with 2 ..;)
I understand that. What I am referring to is, say you have to defend the serephs while the build defenses in their fort, then escort them to take a centaur fort, then help take the fort, then defend the fort from counter attack. If you failed to escort them, how can they take the fort? In a failed event in an event chain, the chain is broken, and can’t progress, and resets.
Having such rewards makes it so completing the chain is vital, and thats a good thing. Failing an event on purpose would be counter productive. However, events can and do fail even while attempted. So if you only have one chance at the event chain, and fail one part of if, that chain can’t continue, thus making it impossible to complete. Having scaled up mobs for events increases the likelyhood of failure by a large margin.
Here we go again. Post those in the general discussion subforum, I don’t want that in the dungeons subforum. Just go there and have a bunch of toxics agreeing with you, we won’t even bother to try and teach you why you’re wrong.
And how is he wrong? He says he would like to see dungeons revamped? Is that such a bad thing? Also he suggested ascended dungeon armor. It’s not a terrible suggestion. I’ve seen worse. You don’t have to agree that dungeons should be revamped and changed up, or even with the ascended dungeon armor, but saying he’s wrong for even suggesting those things is just a little on the mean side.
I like this idea, although a few modifications would be needed.
As already pointed out, there is a very large amount of mobs in each zone, and they respawn, some very quickly. However it might work if you just removed all the extra mobs, and just had mobs from the events, and scaled up. Having one chance at the events would be a great way to prevent farming those events. But the problem is with the event chains. If he event fails, it won’t start the next event in the chain. And if it was to just go on to the next in the event of failure, it wouldn’t make much sense.
Or pug a team for tPvP…
You aren’t “forced” to do anything. There are multiple options for everything.
What, you guys have never seen combined zero-based alternating length encoded binary optimized for ascii text?
I’m not even sure thats a thing…
Google just pulls up this thread when searching for it :P
Why are people talking about LOTR lore in this thread? :P
Id like to see a hammer or a greatsword for necro. Whatever happens I just want to see a proper aoe close range dps weapon. Hammer could fit that role even if it was more control based.
We started talking about LOTR due to the fact that the OP stated he wanted his necro to be more like Sauron, and how a hammer fit into that. Granted it did get a BIT off track, but in the end I think we mostly agree that a hammer for a necro would actually be pretty cool.
While I generally agree that lag is mostly on the client side, there are SOME times when lag is on the server side. In many cases, all that it takes is a reboot to get it fixed. However, in an environment when multiple computers are connected to a single server, and one of those computers has a laggy connection it can and does cause issues for others. Like in a pvp room.
So yes, it can very well be caused by your internet connection, or it could be that the servers need to be reboot. In any event, raging about it isn’t going to solve the problem. In my line of work, if I have a customer who is being a kitten, I take my sweet time in dealing with that customer. I will do my job, but I will do it EXACTLY by the book, and in the least efficient way possible, just to make him wait. Thats a part of customer service. I provide a service to you, and if you are going to be a jerk, you aren’t going to get anywhere close to my best service, you’d be lucky to get my worst.

Looks like Decimal but it isn’t. I’m trying with http://cryptii.com/decimal/text
Yeah tried decimal to text and that didn’t turn up anything. My guess is that it’s just a random string of numbers
Also, if you buy the recipe, for say boots, for what stat combo you want, when you click on it in the recipe tab, it will also show you what is needed with the magnifying glass to expand that as well.
(edited by pdavis.8031)
The problem is, that each component is at least 2 other recipes. For example. Ascended chest armor. It takes (for heavy) 5 crystalline dust, 5 deldrimore ignots, and 25 thermocatalytic reagants. To make a deldrimore ignot you need a lump of mithrillium, 20 iron ingots, 10 steel ignots, and 20 darksteel ignots. And for the lump of mithrillium you need 50 mithril ingots, 1 glob of ecto, and 10 reagents. And thats, just for one piece. For the other half you need: 50 sppols of gossamer thread, 5 crystalline dust and 1 bolt of damask. for the bolt of damask you need: 20 wool, 20 linen, 10 linen, and sppol of silk weaving thread. And for the weaving thread you need 100 bolts of silk, 1 golb of ecto, and 25 spools of gossamer.
I could go on, but you get the picture. If you look in the production tab, on all your unlocked recipes, you can start with say the shoulders, and look at what is needed for the first part. The magnifying glass will show you what is needed for each paticular component.
Also that first link breaks down what is needed a little bit better.
At this point it’s a gamble. It could pay off, but then again, if nothing new is added, you could stand to lose out on a bunch of money. Once the event starts, those winters days items will be very difficult to unload, and they will sell at just above vendor price. Everybody and their dog with have tons of them, and will have already gotten what they wanted from the event.
I wouldn’t say it’s, definite no, but it is a risk.
It’s possible new skins and toys can be introduced this winters day, but not likely. My money is one having it be a repeat of last year, like they did with halloween.
However, holding on to them to see if anything new is brought in, could pay off, but if not, you won’t be able to give those things away, and it will take quite awhile for prices to go back up, once they bottom out when the event starts. It might just be better to sell the stacks as is now, and not get stuck with them for another year. At least thats my opinion.
The recipes for each piece, and insignias are purchased through the vendor. The indiviual componets (i.e bolt of damask, elonian leather) are unlocked at level 500. For each piece of armor you’ll need one “upper” and one “lower” and an insignia, as well as a vision, or lesser vision crystal.
I think you might be looking for this though: http://www.guildwars2hub.com/guides/crafting/how-craft-ascended-armor
Also here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_armor
This is the list of the recipes by stats and name so you know which recipies to buy.
Hope this helps.
I found this one awhile ago and thought it was awesome!
That actually looks pretty cool.
Also check out the Guardians of the Flame book series. I’t about some college students who get sucked into the D&D game they are playing as their characters. It’s pretty freaking sweet.
@OP
What kind of sorcery is this!? Someone being reasonable on the forums!?
Seriously though. I don’t understand why so many people want an expansion. New races, classes, maps, etc. are all well and good, and I believe will come down the line. But having to pay an additional $60 to get all that doesn’t sit right with me. As it is now, they are offering all of those things, in time, for free. I feel that an expansion, even later at some point, would bring in a short burst of income from box sales, but after that, it will level out again, and probably not make as much money in the long run. Thats why games of all types are moving toward micro transactions. In the long run, it provides better income then straight box sales. Yes, WoW does continue to release expansions, but it would hurt them more to stop and moving toward a pure micro transaction system. They are in too deep to stop, IMO.
Go to the hero panel (press h) > mini tab, then select you cat and equip. I believe you can right click on it, and select equip, otherwise in the preview panel there should be an equip button.
You can put defensive infusions on the armor, for offensive infusions you would need ascended weapons.
Yes Sauron was indeed a Maia, but didn’t server Melkor until later. Yes he inspired the elves to make the rings, but didn’t actually do the ring making. When he crafted The One Ring, the elves saw what he was up to, unequipped them and didn’t use them. The men were corrupted, but the dwarves weren’t as much. But it was clearly stated that the elves made the 3, and Sauron didn’t have anything to do with crafting them.
Yes the elven rings were hit hard by the nerf hammer, but after Sauron got perma banned for being a kitten, the rings were useless then, plus the time of the elves was over, and so were retired.
In short, Sauron only had MAYBE 200 into jeweler, but definetly not 500, and thus not able to make ascended by himself. Thats why he needed the elves. He may have provided some of the mats, but thats about it.
I think any polearm weapons, for necro or otherwise would actually be pretty cool. I would love to see a trident wielding necro that summons minions and launches dark life draining energy.

I believe that the ascended armor only has defensive slots, while weapons have offensive. Not sure about accessories. I think it depends on which one.
Yeah, I’m going to go with dasenthal on this one. Sounds like if he was moving backwards in shorts bursts he probably was using sword 2, and lightning reflexes. Both of those skills launch you backwards a decent distance. If he was trying to get away using teleport hacks, he just would have teleported somewhere else and just be gone, instead of in short bursts.
They should give at least 50x dishonor for using a character in PvP. Characters are OP and need to be dramatically nerfed so we can finally have some semblance of balance in PvP. Remove Auto-attack, increase toughness and vitality by 300%, increase damage by 50% and remove all CDs, because having to wait to use a skill makes characters die too quickly. Also add a invulnerable buff that lasts the entire match.
I seriously want to be sauron at some point.
but what would a hammer necro do?Shameless nitpicking, but Sauron used a large mace, not a hammer. So if you want to be Sauron as a necro, you’d need to be able to use a mace.
More shamless nitpicking,
Sauron wasn’t a necro. He was a demi-god (of sorts), and had access to all sorts of powers. However he was strongest in manipulation and dominance, so if anything he was more akin to a mesmer then a necro.
OT: Yes! A hammer necro could actually be really cool. I would tie it in to a minion master though, having it summon low level minions with the various skills. That could be fun, albeit completly broken, but fun nonetheless.
nitpicking even further, Sauron is considered a Blacksmith; if anything that would be his class. His power of manipulation and such came from his creations; the rings
Actually Sauron only made The One Ring. He didn’t have a hand in making the other rings. But he did manipulate and encourage the elves to make them, so he could have power over them. So his being a blacksmith is like saying I am a carpenter for building a dog house.
But before we get this thread closed for being wildly off topic. Hammer necro would be awesome!
Part of the thing that many people overlook is that ANET has a hand in TP prices because they set demand, via sinks.
Yes, it’s true that Anet sets the demand, however the TP prices are set strictly by the player, regardless of the demand.
For example, on the TP there is a masterwork (green) level 30 ring that is selling for 26g 19s 95c. (http://www.gw2spidy.com/search/ring?sort_min_sale_unit_price=desc&rarity_filter=3&min_level=&max_level=). There is a very limited supply, and not a huge demand for such an item. Of course one could argue that such a price for such an item is due to the drop rate of such an item, but what it all comes down to is what people are willing to pay, and willing to sell for any given item.
Prices for silk on the TP are going up, because people are willing to pay that much for it. If I were to list a bolt for 20s, there stands a chance that someone at somepoint would be willing to pay that much for it. So while Anet sets the demand (not really the demand, but the sinks) the players themselves set the price. Anet doesn’t have a hand in that at all.
No problem!
But you should think about getting the story chapter. It was actually really cool.
Aaaah Gotcha.
If I remember correctly, the door that you need to blow up is part of the story. You should be able to just go through the house normally without having to do the story. However upon completing the story, you will be taking to where the insect trader is.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Restoration_Refuge
Gossamer bolts now below 1s (70c buy orders), this doesnt feel right. Anet do something please.
Silk is worth over 8 times more :/
As has been stated numerous times in this very sub-forum, Anet doesn’t do anything with the prices on the TP. The prices on the TP are set solely by players. Of course Anet sets the drop rate, and that argument for prices of mats has been fully exhausted. In the end the players control the price.
The main problem with Gosamer, as stated before, there are very little sinks for it. Other then getting crafting to 500, there really is no use for it. If anet were to do something, they would need to increase the use for it. Also, many people forget, that silk, before ascended, was in the same place as gossamer. Stuff was super abundant, and super cheap on the TP, almost not worth buying. Then along came ascended, and bolts of damask, and the 3 scraps per bolt for silk. This wasn’t an accident, the repercussions of such a move were carefully considered, and the long term effects were weighed long before such an implementation happened. It was by design, and it has achieved its purpose.
Part of the problem with silk, and most mats, is that no one wants to farm it. It’s easier and faster to run a few dungeons and buy it off the TP, but that only creates more demand, and thus a higher TP price. You want a lower price on the TP? Don’t buy it, do the work and farm it.
The statement was made on the upcoming changes “Players are rewarded for playing well, even if they lose the game.”
My question is what constitutes playing well?I was playing today with a necro who kept 2 enemy players occupied almost the entire match, effectively making the game 3 v 4 for the rest of us.
We won the match because of the necro, yet the necro had the lowest score of everyone at the end of the match. Will players like the necro be rewarded highly under the new system?
I would imagine they would be. I don’t know how, but in my mind, points are determined by how long you stay alive and in combat, how much damage you’ve dealt out over the course of the match, how much damage you’ve recieved, how many times downed, etc.
The only way to reward player who play well, but have a low overall score would be to calculate these types of things at the end of the match. Of course this is 100% speculation, and not based on anything but the mad raving voices in my head so take it as you will….
The community in game is a great as always, the forums….not so much. SoloQ (aka YoloQ) could use some work, leaderboards are extreamly volatile, and people change standings more often then they change their underwear. Dev support has actually gotten much better. I am seeing much more of the in game, and have a large increased presense on the forums.
Basically it’s the same great and amazing game as ever before, with some cool changes. I would catch up on the changes with the NPE as leveling up has changed dramatically. And the new zones are actually pretty cool, despite what the nay says on the forums might say.
Welcome back!
Oh not again…. /sigh
Please read the dungeon FAQ stickied at the top, then get the hell out of here and run some dungeons with a decent party. Make some frands that will help you. If anyone is willing to take you along with such an attitude, that is. I surely ain’t teaching someone that calls me a cheater because I skip a couple of mobs and stack.
Maybe it’s just me, but the fact that he used “cheat” with quotations says that he doesn’t necessarily think that skipping and stacking is cheating. However he does say that the dungeons poor designs allow for that. And while most (read: reasonable) people don’t consider skipping and stacking as cheats, they can agree that the current dungeon mechanics do allow for it, and while it may not be the devs vision for how dungeons should be run, it is the most effecient method for doing dungeons (in some cases).
Can you be a little more specific? Is the entrance to Dry Top blocked? Can you post a screen shot of the point that is blocked?
Although I would recommend buying the first episode anyway, but it’s either a bug, or you are in the wrong place. All the mission points (as far as their location) are open and available without the LS story chapters.
I wouldn’t mind revamped dungeons. However, instead of redoing what they already have, make additional paths to the existing dungeons. Maybe even some of those requiring ascended with agony resistance. I for one would like to see a use for those outside of high level fractals.
Of course the issue would be the Dungeon Master title, unless any additional paths weren’t included in the requirements to get it. Just like new zones are not required for map completion. Other then that I don’t see how it would even be an issue.
Yeah Staff Elementalist might be your best bet. You can get some might stacks with fire fields, but need others to help blast them. But Staff ele is great in a support roll, with AOE heals and what not.
Yeah I agree it sucks, but thats what the report button is for.Yes reporting actually does something, and the devs have stated on several occassions that grief kicking is a bannable offense, and does happen. However, it is something that is hard to prove, and thats why you may still see the same players around. If they are not saying anything mean in chat (PM, party, map, say, etc.), then theres not much they can do.
The GMs that do respond can’t prove that they did it just to be kittens, as as they stated, they didn’t want to play with you.
Maybe after going through the whole dungeon they found that your build/skills/playstyle were not working for them, and didn’t want to take any more chances at the end boss.
So while yes there are cases where someone is being kicked, and no reason given, here in the forum have no idea if indeed the OP was at fault. Maybe he was being too chatty and the rest of the party didn’t like it. He could have been the best player ever, but said something that upset the party. who knows.
I personally believe it’s the former. Unless you are farming the same mobs in the same area fot 10-12 hours a day, running the same event chains for the same amount of time, you aren’t really going to see the effect of it. Granted we don’t know anything about it, other then the name, and the general idea of what it looks like when we hit it.
I don’t often see pigs. I run them, sometimes pig/siamoth. The f2 drops are amazing, and the knockdown potential is awesome! Yeah it’s RNG, but the pig drops healing items and elixer of heroes (yay for free invuln!) and that has saved my backside more then a few times, and the siamoth drops buffs and invisible. I would really like to see more people use them. I feel they are largly over looked.
@OP
Great post! Now it just needs to be made a sticky!
As another suggestion to commonly discussed topics, I would point to the economy being broken and hyper inflated threads that pop up, mostly relating to gold to gem conversion and the price of precursors on the TP. I can’t find a link at the moment, but John Smith has this thread that also covers much of that: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/I-have-a-question-about-the-economy/page/16#post4573303
Right…because punishing people for playing a build you don’t like, and utilizes one the the engineers main mechanics is a good idea?
I understand many peoplke don’t like them, and thats fine, but this is nothing more then a useless troll.
/thread
Go to http://global.ncsoft.com/global/board/downloadlist.aspx?BID=ir_pr conference & IR Activities download and open to slide 22 and 23 that pretty much tells you the future according to NCSoft. The work at Anet could very well be importing GW2 to other platforms. Slide 23 shows what they plan to launch in 2015 and I don’t see anything resembling a GW2 expansion although this could just be new games, don’t know how to classify Lineage Eternal.
So yes we’re all aware that they are working on something and the theory I proposed above could be just as real as your interpretation of what the author saw, frankly as I said before none of this means anything and it’s all assumptions until Anet says otherwise.
Anet has clearly stated that they have no plans to port GW2 to consol. (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/GW2-for-PS4-1/first#post4559215). Unless you mean other computer OSes (i.e. Linux) which would be awesome!
It’s entirely possible that it was a mesmer disguised as Caith that took the egg. However, this mesmer has yet to be revealed. I just can’t believe that it was Countess Anise, so I’m ruling her out, and I don’t know of any other mesmers. But I agree that it wasn’t Caith. She was acting very strange from the very beginning of the episode. Following you around, ignoring the meeting with DE, and was more then a bit “off”.
I would like to see the “conversion” (if you will) of Glint with the Forgottens ritual. I think that would be pretty cool. Or maybe the battle with Kralk when he comes after Glint.
Also I would really like to see the story and the origins of the Uncatagorized fractal.

Daily is easy but if your PvE and *****HATE JUMPING PUZZLES****** then monthly is to hard to get.
You know there are 3 other PvE catagories, other than jumping puzzles, that you can do to get your monthly right?
I haven’t done a jumping puzzle in forever, can’t even remember the last time I even attempted one, and still have no problems completing my monthlies. As a pure PvE player, there are several options for you to do, that don’t invlove doing anything that you don’t care for.
Sometimes that can happen, I have found that using the /dance or /sit commands will break them out of that. Also I am sure logging will take care of it as well.
This seems to happen to me most with corners and walls and such (like the one you are in). When it does happen, submit an ingame bug report, and try to /dance, /sit to get out of it. I am sure the devs are aware of it and are looking for a fix, but it seems its an object collision detection issue that is not an easy or quick fix.
This is the internet, and there are more Negative Nancys than Positive Pollys.
I’d say that there’s a larger number of Realistic Rhondas than Negative Nancys.
Yes, there are some who just want to complain. But I think more of the people who look at this and say “So what?” aren’t being negative as they are being realistic. We’re not trying to hate on the game and Anet. We’re trying to see what it matters.
Yes, they’re “working on stuff”. So? What stuff? More cash shop items? More living story? More NPE and trait-style screw-ups? More professions? More zones? More dungeons? More crafting recipes? More Black Lion weapon sets that ignore underwater weapons? More WvW maps or siege weapons or tricks and traps?
Who knows? They could be working on all of those or none of them (except cash shop items and living story). There are only two things we can actually count on Arenanet to actually be working on, and that’s living story, which to many is too little or too much work for not enough reward or is just simply not something they’re interested in, and cash shop items to try to get even more money out of us.
If the Realistic Rhondas are looking like Negative Nancies, maybe it’s because there’s realistically not much to be positive about.
While there is a fine line between being realistic, and being negative, there is nothing realistic about claiming that the game is hemorrhaging players to the point where Anet is about to shut its doors, or claims that anything and everything added to the gem store is nothing more then a shameless money grubbing tactic and that Anet is nothing more than a greedy corporation, whose only goal is to empty the wallets of its loyal player base. There is no realism in statements that the LS is so horrible that they had to implement the megaserver to hide how many players have left. It’s not realistic to assert the assumption that no one at Anet cares, or is actually doing anything productive. Its not realistic to claim that PvP and WvW are so dead as to might as well not exist, and any attempts by the devs to do anything with PvP/WvW are just pitiful and hopeless attempts to revive a game mode that is so far dead it might as well be a Risen minion of Zhiatan.
I’ve seen all of these “realistic” claims (not so much in this thread) too many times to even take such things seriously anymore. These are not being realistic. This is just being negative, straight up. While there are some very realistic posts and threads, more often then not they are filled with negativity, and outright insults, not only to players, but to the devs who have poured much of themselves into this venture.
@Vayne
While I understand why you started this topic, and greatly appreciate it, not every one will. This is the internet, and there are more Negative Nancys than Positive Pollys. Its far easier to be negative, and try to tear down something, than it is to build something up. So even with this type of post, this information, that yes Anet is indeed working very hard there are far too many people who will try to argue the point regardless. These same people will try to argue if you said that they sky was blue. Nothing against those people, but any and all internet forums, regardless of topic, will see the same type of people. Thats the nature of the internet, and internet forums. In any event, great post! I love to see positive stuff said about a great company, great and amazing people, and a fantastic and wonderful game!
@the nay sayers
I’ve seen several posts about how Anet may be working on something, but unless that something is “good” and something other than the LS it doesn’t really matter. First of all, “good” is a very subjective term. While some people found the quality, narrative, and content lacking, there are many many more who absolutely love it. Some people feel that a bi-weekly LS update is a grind and a poorly developed piece of work. Thats ok, you can feel that way. But please understand that there are many many more who feel the exact opposite. Of course when you bring such negative comments into a thread about positive things, those whom are mockingly labeled “white knights” who feel a desire and need to defend something they feel strongly about, are going to step in and do just that. We do so out of a sense of love for the game, a sense of loyalty and dedication to something we feel is worth defending. You can call us “white knights”, blind to the “truth”, or whatever. We don’t care. That being said, let us have our space to celebrate the positive things, to honor the Anet team, and enjoy those things we love most about GW2 without trying to bring us and everyone else down. If you feel disenchanted for whatever reason, please feel free to start your own thread about such things. We won’t stop you, and try to bring some positive energy into your negativity. I promise.
BTW: Happy Thanksgiving to you American types!

hmmm holy necro…that would be a pretty cool class archtype
But yeah, it’s been around for forever, plus I like the other “secret” room in AC
It’s semantics really. But which sounds cooler? Tangled maze? or Tangled labyrinth?
Although there is a slight difference between the two, the term labyrinth has more of a darker connotation then maze, thus the reason for the name.
