However, it IS against the UA to share accounts

Ok so now we have another mounts thread…It’s about time for another open world PvP/Dueling thread…
@OP
I understand the forum search function doesn’t work, but a simple google search will show that there have been countless threads on mounts, with nearly every one of them filled with reasons why having them in this game would not be a good idea. Both from a lore and story stand point, and a mechanics stand point. While they may work great in other games, with little to no issues, the major problem is the whole game design practically eliminates any need for mounts. In order to have mounts, flying or other wise, (cosmetic gem store items aside) they would need to completely redo much of the game as a whole. WPs would be come obsolete, and a valuable gold sink would be lost. In short, mounts just wouldn’t work for this game. And thats ok. Just because other games have them, and it works for them, doesn’t mean that it would work for this one.
So, go google all the other mounts threads, and save yourself a ton of time and enegery reading the responses on the other threads. All the responses here are going to be exactly the same. The majority of forum goers don’t wnat mounts. Period.
I suppose I should have looked at the wiki first :P
But thanks!
Knowing this actually makes me happy.
There’s no way to get any candy corn anymore, so it should be increasing little by little in my opinion.
Not entirely true. Not to say that Candy Corn nodes available to players would cover all of the anticipated usage, but it can add to supply at any time.
Don’t forget that you can also get the recipe for Vial of Maize Balm, as well as the vials themselves, which also produce a ton of candy corn and other halloween items. MY guess it will follow watchwork sprockets, it’ll bottom out for a bit, then climb back up, and level out.
I’ve blundered with the candy corn nodes, but honestly they seem like a drop in the ocean :P
And vials of maize balm? Did you even check the recipe?
At the very best it’ll give you 9 ToT bags for 100(!!!) candy corn!
Though I guess it’s possible to co-operate with other players about it…It depends on where you are using the bags. There are places with a very high concentration of ambient creatures to use them on, which will generate more then 9 bags. Also the candy corn drop rate per bag is an average of 9 pieces. (http://wiki-en.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trick-or-Treat_Bag/research). So even if you did get the 9 bags, you can still get an average of 81 candy corns per vial, couple that with the candy corn node, and you can easily get enough candy corn to make more vials, and still have extra candy corn. However, as I said, there is still a trickling supply, and will follow the watchwork sprockets in that there are still ways to get them, without buying them off the TP, and the price for them will climb a bit, the level out.
Each toss of the balm will only transform 3 creatures, so the most you can get from one balm is 9.
You’re right, my bad.
Either way, my point is, that candy corn is still able to be acquired.
I completely disagree with not starting until you have a precursor. This is what I have done, and it has proven to work extremely well.
You will spend weeks/months collecting materials, particularly the T6 material stacks as well as map completion. All the while you are collecting (or farming) for those, run dungeons to get gold. Ideally, run as many paths per reset as you can – particularly Arah – to maximize your gold acquisition.
By the time you have all of the necessary materials, you’ll likely have enough gold to buy your precursor. Effectively, you get all of the components you need at about the same time.
Additionally, in this time frame, you have a (low) chance of getting a precursor on a drop anyway. If you get the one you want, awesome! If not, you can sell it to buy the one you need.
I would also crush all drops you get. You need the ectos from rare/exotics, and once you have a 250 stack, you can salvage your ectos for dust. In most cases, when you get an exotic drop, the rune/sigil is worth more than the item itself so it makes sense to crush it anyway.
With most other armor items, you’ll get cloth materials. You can either sell those, silk is enormously profitable, or save them to make ascended gear.
I agree. When I did mine, I gathered all the mats before the precursor, and it worked out fine for me. Granted, my precursor was a gift so…
(Yeah, I’m still floored by it, and will bring it up every chance I get :P)
You know, your five year old son has watched you too much, when you were playing GW2, when he wakes you up in the morning and then jumps over you in the bed while he shouts “I am a mordrem thrasher”
(happenend this morning …)
Greetings.
That. Is. AWESOME!!!!!!!
I can’t wait for my little one to get old enough to start playing He’s only 2 now, so it’ll be awhile…
I was just curious if this skill name was based on Zero Wings intro invloving “All your base are belong to us”
http://www.allyourbasearebelongtous.com/flash/
In the intro the line “For Great Justice” is actually used. The name of this skill seems too much to be coincedence.

And in the immortal words of the Dhali Lama: “stop qqing and l2p noob” :p
That would be cool!!
Plus it would be awesome to be able to go back and be able to recap for season 3
For something to be fixed, it needs to be broken. As already discussed at length for the Nth time, stacking is not broken. It’s working as intended. (i.e. staying close for rezzing, boons, support, etc.)
However, after reading the OPs argument, it seems that it’s not stacking that is the issue, but that the dungeons themselves are. The effort vs reward. making them harder, and more rewarding would be a great thing indeed. BUT, people will still find the most efficient way possible to do them. Gamers are inherently lazy, and will find the best possible way to get the most done with the least possible effort.
As Bill Gates once said: “I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it.”

The same discussion is going on here. Please merge these threads because they are exactly the same. Thanks!
I don’t think it’s a thing yet, but there is no reason not to have it. After all, Nomads made it to ascended, so logically it should be able to be crafted.

Sorry, but pursuing a Legendary without having the Precursor (and being broke by your own admission) is just a recipe for frustration….good luck to you.
I did it…it wasn’t too frustrating, and actually worked out rather well.
Yes, it is quite a bit less frustrating when somebody gives you the precursor, is it not?

Funny how Turrets have been considered useless for years, yet now they start getting played with no major changes from their original form besides some bug fixes and suddenly, every forumite desperate to blame a loss on anything but themselves is crying “nerf”.
Same story every time.
Honest to god, my strat for killing Turret Engineers has always been to run in and just kill the useless kitten because Turrets are slow firing, low dps, dumb as kitten AI.
I play a tankier build though, seems logical that turrets would shred the typical all-or-nothing burst build 1v1.
That’s kind of the point, though. At some point, strategy has got to become a factor in your positioning about the map, in my opinion. If you’re sure the AI will kill you and you can’t fight from beyond 700 range, take a burst friend with you and kill the Engineer in <2 seconds with a combo because there is nothing they can do to prevent that.
HERE HERE!!!!

@theoutsider
I’m not using my lack of experience playing a turret engi to say that they aren’t OP. I’m using my experience in killing them, as a below average player to say they aren’t OP.
Ok, my 2 cents…
I’m not the greatest player. I would rate myself as a little below average. After being frustrated with turret engis, I decided to roll one to see just how cheesy mode it really is. I never won a 1v1, I almost always got reckt hard in almost every encounter, was stuck to the point, and was more of a hinderance to my team, than an asset. Now granted I am not very familiar with the class, and probably did everything wrong. But the assertion that this class/build is low skill cap, and ultra chees mode is (IMO) not true.
@OP while you may play one, and I am sure you are a much better player then me, it still stands to reason that turret engis can be easily facerolled by a more knowledgable and experienced player without difficulty. A team of them can be countered easily with a good team composition. Does it require a different strategy to take on a team of them? yes, but it can be done. I’ve played against teams with 3 engis, and didn’t have too much trouble. AoEs are your friend, and if you can get them away from their turrets, they don’t stand a chance.
So in conclusion, no turret engis are not OP, and don’t ruin SPVP.
To summarize: “I didn’t do well as a turret engi the first time I played it and so that means the class is balanced”
That is really bad logic. The spec is broken and it needs a nerf. Right now, engis and eles are way too strong and need an adjustment.
So apparently you only read the first part and ignored the rest. Lets try this again. It’s really not as afk cheese mode as it’s made out to be. Any decent team, or even player for that matter, can take out turret engis without too much trouble.
As others also have said, there are plenty of counters to turret engis, and it requires a different strategy than getting close and smashing 1. However, while they may not be perfectly balanced, they are still far from being overpowered. I have 1v1’d several turret engis with a necro, staff ele, and ranger (range and melee). If it was so OP then noone would be able to touch them with a 10ft pole.
So I stand by my assertion, that logically, if I can beat them, and can get beat with using one, then they aren’t OP.
Be wary of what he says considering last night, we were having a good time tpvp pugging, decided to pick up backpack. He went on his alt and promptly threw the game by going on a Mortor engi and then running to the enemy team and actually telling them what points we had open and asking the opposing team to take them. If anyone is looking for engineer advice remember there are a lot trolly options like five gauge, or ostrich, or reevzy.
Wait, so you are saying that the OP threw the game, by working FOR the enemy instead of his team?
hmmm….I’ll need to see more evidence before I take him up on his offer. While it does seem like a good idea, I would be hesitant to work with such a troll…
Ok, my 2 cents…

Taxi:
1907, shortening of taximeter cab (introduced in London in March 1907), from taximeter “automatic meter to record the distance and fare” (1898), from French taximètre, from German Taxameter (1890), coined from Medieval Latin taxa “tax, charge.”
An earlier English form was taxameter (1894), used in horse-drawn cabs. Taxi dancer “woman whose services may be hired at a dance hall” is recorded from 1930. Taxi squad in U.S. football is 1966, said to be from a former Cleveland Browns owner who gave his reserves jobs with his taxicab company to keep them paid and available [“Dictionary of American Slang”], but other explanations (“short-term hire” or “shuttling back and forth” from the main team) seem possible. The more you know :P
I’m pretty sure the OP meant in relation to gaming and more specifically mmo’s, but nice bit of info anyway :p

I think the major problem is that there are many more voices over something being OP, and in need of a nerf, than there is of something UP that needs a buff.
You’ll find that there are many threads of “X class is way OP please nerf”, then “Y skill/profession isn’t very good, and could use a buff.” While there are some of each, the more vocal ones are how X,Y,Z needs to be nerfed.
I agree that there should be more buffs to certain skills, on certain professions, like more necro buffs, but generally any suggestion to buff something is met with the cries of “It’s too OP as it is!! No buff, nerf!!” and Anet DOES take these suggestions into consideration, and tends to act according to the vocal minority, rather then the more reasonable, level toned, suggestions.
I suppose that makes sense…I kinda figured it was like that, but I guess in a muliplayer video game, there are just some things that need to be taken from granted, and not really explained.
In the teaser trailer released today, we see a woman inscribing that mark in the air, much as when Mesmers do mantras.
The mark shown in the screenshot, and the one in the video are very different. The one in the video reminds me more of the aspects and the zephyrites. But yes, similar to how mantras, and eles glyphs work.
Video games.
Right!?
But more of what i was getting at was are our characters, as far as in game, the only such heroes? The npcs seem to react as if we are the only ones. The story plays out as if only my character is “the boss”. I was just curious as if that was the case. However the group events don’t take that into consideration….
Im sure its been brought up before. But what justification is there for multiple unique items and legendaries? Like muliple Twilights, or several copies of Monsoon? I understand the mechanics behind it (because only having 1 of each such item in the game would be the dumbest thing ever) but i dont understand how it works as for as “in game reality” is concerned. Any thoughs?
I don’t feel comfortable about meeting Zommoros face to face….
Lemark kicked in the door. “A WORM?!” he shouted, “NO… NO! A FREAKING 200 FOOT WORM!”
Zomorros was waiting for him, of course, a smirk on his smug face as he hovered at the end of the room. The whole place was lavishly decorated in a way that screamed wealth at anyone who entered. Zomorros wasn’t a being of subtlety… usually.
“My old friend,” Zomorros said lazily, his head tilted to one side as he examined Lemark’s battered appearance. “How are you? You don’t look so well, I’m sure I have something that can help that around here.”
“Save your gifts” Lemark spat, “I’ve no need for more chains”.
“Well, aren’t we dramatic today?” Zomorros replied with a smile as he continued to rummage through a chest of unorganized bottles.
Lemark began to walk deeper into the room. He rubbed a dirty hand across a tapestry that probably cost more than most Tyrians earned in their lifetime.
“I’ve come for what’s mine,” Lemark growled in what should have been an inaudible tone.
Zomorros turned with a scowl, all pretense of good humor evaporating. “There is a price for that”.
Lemark threw his pack across the room where it fell and slid into a wall beside Zomorros. The Djinn looked intently at the pack as it burst apart , the collected items hovering in air.
“No,” Zomorros almost sobbed, and Lemark was uncertain if it was a denial or disbelief.
“No,” Zomorros said again, more forcefully, “these are unacceptable!”
“They are not! The Contrac-”
“You do not want to hold the contract against me, child! This is mine and you cannot deserve it,” Zomorros said, visibly attempting to restrain his anger. “You don’t even know what it is.”
Lemark pulled a ratty parchment from his pocket and slammed it on the table in front of Zomorros. It glowed slightly in the Djinn’s presence.
Lemark put his hand on the parchment and stared directly into Zomorros’s eyes. “The contract,” he said slowly and precisely. The words echoed unnaturally around them.
A smile slowly transformed Zomorros’s features. The “skin” around his eyes tightened and his lips curled sadistically as looked up at Lemark from under his brow. “I am compelled,” Zomorros said slowly as a dagger bloomed from Lemark’s chest. The thief looked down in stunned disbelief. He legs went weak, but he caught himself with one arm on the table.
Lemark felt blood in his lungs; he held his breath and stood back up. Sheer stubbornness kept him on his feet as Zomorros moved in close.
Zomorros spoke softly, almost like a whisper, but every word was terribly clear and precise, “I never told you what this is”. He leaned in close enough that his face filled Lemark’s vision and wrapped his fingers around the hilt,
“It’s the reaper of souls.” He whispered as the dagger ripped free.
And this is why
Not got gift of exploration yet, 71% not going to calculate the cost for the 190 ectos and 250 of each t6 mat lol
Yeah, I would suggest farming them. Unless you have 0 patience, and must have it NOW!!
Going after the mystic clovers first would be a good place to start, as the fails produce T6 mats…
I assume, because Brandon skipped over all the REAL problems with each class, the purpose of this post was to give a satirical touch to all the whining and bi—hing on the “professional balance” forum.
Yeah pretty much.
But it was a VERY fun read, and I actually laughed out loud
Gift of exploration? Pretty big one for the player also :-)
You’re right, forgot about that one. I had gotten it so long ago I couldn’t remember :P
Just this though. There only part of “making” a legendary weapon that falls on the player is the Gift of Metal. The rest of the items, gifts, etc. are obtained though the mystic forge.
However, the mystic forge is actually a prison for a powerful Djinn, Zorromos. When you toss the items into the forge, you are actually presenting Zorromos with these items, and in return he grants you a special gift. (i.e. Gift of might, Gift of magic, etc). Then when you present him with these gifts, and a specific weapon he’ll trade those for a Legendary weapon.
So the mystic forge, I feel, is incorrectly named, as it’s more of a medium to exchange items with a Djinn, who as it turns out, is quite sadistic, and has a cruel sense of humor.
Ah, so he’s giving you items that you traded for, rather than you making the item yourself… still, I think, an adventure story-line could be a cool alternative, so that players could choose. And the fact that you can also get the item through the mystic forge would do nothing to diminish the power of a story based quest.
The quest idea for a precursor would be awesome, and has been discussed at length too many times to count. But yeah, do an epic quest of awesomness and glory to recieve a precursor weapon, to present to Zorromos. along with the gifts, to recieve a Legendary weapon, that he has in his possession. (being an ancient and powerful Djinn, it makes sense that he would hold on to them)

Grinding, as I see it, is being compelled to repeat an activity in order to advance.
Farming, is repeating an activity in order to obtain a specific goal.
As far as GW2 is concerned, there is really not much grind at all. You don’t need to repeat anything in order to advance your level, personal story, living story, etc.
However, there are plently of farms, and reasons to farm. But by at large, these things are not REQUIRED in anyway in order to advance.
I wouldn’t say impossible. There are still people doing dry top, but maybe not enough to get it to T4. However, after Silverwastes dies down, Dry Top may become more active. If anything, try to get you guild together for a massive guild event to bring it up to T4, or try to find a map in LFG that is still doing dry top. Good luck!
It is likely that the symbol is a mark of the Forgotten, the original caretakers of the Ascension.
I’m inclined to believe that as well. After reading the GW1 wiki concerning those runes, and the Rite of Ascension, it seems that The forgotten played a significant role. (being the caretakers of such a rite) So the snake symbol would be The Forgotten, pointing to the various stages of the Rite of Ascension. But I wonder what this has to do with anything? Unless it’s a foreshadowing of something that is to come? Maybe somehow that rite is used to help fight Mordremoth?
Welcome to the game!!
First, this is not a WoW clone, and is a completely different game. Any of the things that are “standard” in WoW or other MMOs, do not apply to this one. I’m not trying to be a jerk or anything, but trying to make those comparisons will only frustrate you and keep you from just enjoying this game.
Second. The races are all pretty much the same. And as Dalanor said, the only real difference is the racial skill. They all move at the same speed, they all have have the same stats, and get the same skills, etc.
Roll which ever profession you find interesting. Out of the 6 that I have (4 lvl 80s) I didn’t find any to be more difficult to level then any of the others. And ALL of them are viable and useful.
Find a guild and meet new people. You can join up to 5 guilds, so find at least one that fits with your play style. There are Role Play guilds, World vs World vs World (WvW) guilds, PvP guilds, world boss guilds, dungeon guilds, etc. Check out the guild recruitment page or just create your own.
Last, but certainly not least. Have fun. This is a casual centric game that rewards exploration and working with others. There is no traditional trinity (i.e tank, healer, DPS), instead it’s damage, control, and support, so a varity of playstyles and builds, over a range of professions are useful.
Good luck!! Feel free to hit me up in game sometime, I’ll be happy to show you around a bit, and maybe send a guild invite
I didn’t find it odd at all. We are THE commander of the Pact. Yes there are several other commanders, but we are second in command only under Trehearne, whose offical title is Marshall. The introduction was appropiate. As far as the destroyer of Zhaitan, although it did seem that our involvement was lackluster, we did choose the course(s) of action that led to the final confrontation. So it was OUR efforts that led to that fight, and while the fight itself left a lot to be desired, we did play such a large role as to have earned the title “Destroyer of Zhaitan”.
I have to agree with Korossive. I never found them too difficult to obtain, and am working on my second set. The cost isn’t that much if you are putting in the work to farm and gather your mats, instead of buying everything off the TP (which btw, only leads to prices increasing, as there is higher demand). It IS time consuming, yes, but thats the only negative side to it. So unless you are wanting it NOW for whatever reason, even the time gate isn’t much of a deterant.
Yeah, what Inculpatus said.
Also don’t forget there are POIs in instances that don’t show up on maps. I think there are several in The Black Citadel. So you might want to recheck those.

Not sure what is worse, the in game complainer, or the complainer who comes to the forums to post about it.
Or is it the one who post a complaint in a thread complaining about people who are complaining about people complaining?
Or was it that it only displayed the damage that killed you but didn’t display the damage that downed you?
This one. The Elite one hits for almost 30K damage, and only one “30K” damage was shown throughout the combat log for that event.
aaah ok gotcha. So it seems it’s not that it’s not showing “unknown hits for X damage” but that the damage isn’t even recorded.
If this is the case, I would suggest changing the title of this thread. The combat log isn’t suppose to show “Unknown”, it’s suppose to show what hit you and for how much, and it seeems that that part is working as intended. But the bug instead would be that some damaged received in certain events isn’t being recorded.
Bleeding someone out is a standard tactic. Don’t put yourself in that position.
Yeah, but I’ve never seen one try to keep me bleeding out for so long. Generally I’ll either get stomped, or DPS’d from a distance. Never had anyone purposly keep me in a down state for as long as he did. He said it kept me out of the fight, and made it a 4v4 to “even things out”. It was rather amusing though, and we both had a laugh about it. I wasn’t even mad :P
