unid dyes are increasing in supply. Either hoarders are bringing out their supply or they upped the droprate. o.o
Did you guys notice, not just price went down but supply went massively up in such a short time? (I mean compared to the time it took for supply to go down?)
I’m guessing alot of people are now getting done with their ascended stuff.
yes but getting gold is easier now than before. well, “easier” since the value of gold is less now than before.
Instead of counting the number of kills, let it be objectives ranging from simple tasks such as killing dolyaks to bigger things like taking over stonemist allowing it to be completed no matter whether you run with a big zerg or you do guerilla tactics solo.
Trust me, it’s gonna be much harder if its specific tasks. I do agree with having a bit of variety though, like either this or that. something like “get 50 wvw contribution points”, and you get contribution points whenever you escort a dolyak (say 1 point for that), cap something, kill someone, etc.
sigh this thread again.
Farm more.
The only way I see you getting a legendary is if you stop posting these kinds of threads, get an MF set, and farm the crap out of CS. Had a friend who farmed for a week, got himself around 200-300g.
Ohhh i see i see. thanks for the info!
One question you need to ask is, does a higher gold/time mean a higher value/time? I mean, ok while I’m sure gold is valuable, I merely see it as a trading tool and has no inherent value on itself. (kinda like how bills are really useless without the thing they’re backing up, gold or something else in the national treasury). Of course, without gold, it’s hard to ascertain a mathematical value for your items, and I’m sure the value of certain stuff does change/fluctuate from time to time.
Also, won’t having more people buying low and selling high might cause the actual value/price of that item to sell for much higher?
I highly doubt it.
I’d estimate you’d probably spend ~$10,000 USD to pull this off. Kinda reminds me of the guy who paid MTV or some channel to play a song over and over again (They were doing this fundraiser thing where you pay a small amount to get a song you wanted played up. I think like $3-5. Then one guy paid like $500, so the company has to play it for 100x straight XD)
please leave chocolate alone!
Go flip other items like oregano or thyme or something
Ok assuming you have the real life cash to do so, you’d essentially crash the market. Gold will suddenly lose its value (as the amount of items the gold supposedly represents is suddenly gone), and farming for the mats itself will be the only viable way to get the items you want again.
Also, you need to be sure to buy again all the saved-up supply most people has. While you see thousands of ectos in the market, there’s probably another 50% sitting on people’s inventory.
But this is pretty curious. Please do it, I wanna see what happens as well :P
I’m not very good at economics or investing, and have only heard of the term flipping in this game (lol). From what I understand, flipping involves buying large quantities of products (at the lower price margin) and selling them at a higher price so fast and in large quantities that you get a profit from selling them. To me, it feels like flipping merely is artifically increasing the price of a good for profit. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
If this is the case, isn’t this a contributing factor to inflation? I mean, if one person does it, it probably wouldn’t have that big of an impact. But if hundreds of people do it across a wide variety of items, mostly commonly traded items, wouldn’t people think that the price its being sold for is the correct market value for it? I read up on investopedia about flipping stocks, but commodities don’t have a close/open trading session, and things don’t tend to fluctuate very much within a few minutes. I do have read about how some people with large quantities of gold used to buy up the precursors in the market to drive the price upwards.
Lastly, I heard in the chocolate thread about people trying to drive the prices of chocolate up to 1s or more. But then I read about another poster who can crash the market at whim. How is this possible?
I think spending gems has no effect on the exchange rate. Neither is the amount of either in the market. Rather, its the amount and frequency of the exchanges that affect it. So theoretically, with “infinite” gold, one can continuously convert gold to gems, however as more gold are converted to gems, prices of conversion will increase. The only way for prices to come back down, imo, is for more people with gems (or buying gems via real cash) to convert those gems to money.
huh, would anyone know if the trinket to be made is soulbound? or soulbound on use?
I think the question here is what kind of community does anet want to attract/keep. The answer should reflect on their decisions.
in one run, I had 2 vials drop for me. that’s with 0 MF.
what does “displacing money sinks” mean? o.O
sorry to burst your bubble but…. wouldn’t you guys get left behind in fractals? :O
I think the problem is multi-faceted, which is why a simple answer has to take account its effects on other aspects of the game/economy as well. That OR this high price of t6 mat/ecto is intended (or at least their ideal state of prices). In which case, expect prices to skyrocket and gold to depreciate its value until we get some more gold sinks in game.
am I the only one who hates this? >_> I don’t mind jumping, but when you fall and bug out most of the time, it kinda gets annoying =/
One way to be an effective “tank” imo is still to be able to up your dmg output because if its really really low, the mobs will ignore you (boss). Which is why power/tough/vit is really really helpful. it might seem counterintuitive that you get less tough than knight (highest toughness), but you get vit (useful for tanking) and high power, something that attracts the mobs to you. It annoys me sometimes though that as a tanky engineer, my warrior friend’s dps output is so high he’s essentially kiting the boss for everyone of us and I get little chance to tank. hehe
But wrt Kerithlan, I guess that idea of tanking is only for guardians. Diff classes all have different ways to tank (imo), and some excel at particular situations than others. One thing I noticed lacking in my guardian mace/focus is the lack of combo fields and finishers available on him. Sure he has light (all guardian weaps have it anyways), but there’s it has little finisher, and even some finishers aren’t that helpful (or rather unreliable), or maybe i haven’t played with him yet.
On my tanky eng, with HGH i can buff my mates with 3 stacks of might at the start while providing a knockback to the mob, and a reliable area might every 9-10 seconds. It’s no “For Great Justice” of course, but those are merely using skills in my 1-5 (and tool kit). I can also have the thief’s aoe-stealth skill as well, which will be invaluable in ressing people or losing aggro. By providing those kinds of utilities, I think that’s how the eng tank works =P
dynamic drop rates? I think this is gonna be terrible =/
I’m considering that they also said they’ll introduce other ascended stuff over time. With everyone and their grandmother buying up ectos/rares, and with the huge demand for them and t6 mats, introducing another set of ascended stuff will only make it go up. Maybe a few months down the road, we’ll look back at this day and say “In my days, ectos were only 20s each. Now they’re 2.5g each. old man sigh”
afaik conversion and other stuff on the bltc are cross-server.
Used in ac dungeons. That 10s can easily be 14s, and the bar spends for itself already (almost)
I’m not really familiar with dungeons and how much silver the enemies drop in 30 minutes so perhaps in dungeons Omnomberry Bars are better. I don’t think they effect bags of wondrous goods or rewards though.
But, for farming in the open world Spicy Pumpkin Cookies are still (even after the spike) the cheapest way to get that +30% magic find. Especially when compared to the tarts the OP was talking about.
Edit: Actually since they last 45 minutes (50% longer) and give +15% xp instead of 10% and skill points can be used to make money they would need to cost around 5-6 silver to be on par with most other magic find foods (bars may be an exception) in terms of cost for the value. So 1.3 silver is an amazing value right now.
first boss drops 10s. popping up the bar, you get 14s. Kholer drops another 10s. so that’s another 4s bonus (total: 8s). Then you will fight 1 or 2 champ howlers that drop 5s each. so that’s 2-4s. (total: 10-12s). Then final boss drops around ~16s so that’s 6.4s. Grand total is 16-18s in extra gold just from a 4s item. =P
im thinking of selling my ectos when it reaches 50s then just buy it back when it lowers.
What’s your expected price ceiling for ectos? will it reach 1g a piece?
What we need atm is more gold sinks. say for the wintersday event, instead of ridiculous items which will be inflated again, say “icy candy canes” at 50s each, that does something, etc. lowering supply of gold will helpfully regain back its purchasing power.
This needs updating >.>
even if it grays out, drag it in. and you’ll see MF will accept them.
So instead of people clogging up la, people will clog up diff cities, one at a time, before ultimately clogging up la again. Wish they’d just do the event simultaneous in all cities.
Errr idk. Unless they raised it up, i got my guild stash a long time ago (before halloween), it should cost around 4.5k influence. 500 for archi 1, 1k for archi 2, then 1k for storage. Unless im mistaken
Lets go 1g/ecto!! :p ofc by then, gold will be worthless :p personally, im gonna use dungeon tokens to outfit all my alts. Their trubkets will be a diff matter tho :/
You gotta measure your dps on the first burrow before spider queen. If you can kill it at 8sec or less, yon do the dps route. If not, you can try to def one node as best as you can.can.
Pls dont nerf ac
gold is getting more and more worthless now
I had 3 kits as well. Used up two salvaging willy nilly, then decided to save the last one whrn i get rxotics.
Actually, the price for a private guild stash is just around 4.5g. (Buy 4.5k influence)
Just a question, is the current exchange rate based/affected by the inflating prices of commodities/decrease in value of gold?
Used in ac dungeons. That 10s can easily be 14s, and the bar spends for itself already (almost)
For economists, what will happen once gold has devalued to the point of becoming like mickey mouse money?

eng is hard to play? :O Of course, I’m no good at all
) I find an ele/necro harder to play
actually, if you got the wvw buff, you can get more logs per node. Most I got from a single nod was around… 8-9 logs. Most I got from a normal ore node was 5 ores.
Or increase drop rate of flowers.
I think this was partly a knee-jerk reaction to the amount of gold sellers and botters. For the longest time, people complained about gem to gold ratio and how it was much more profitable to buy from gold sellers. By putting in more value at the items, they lowered the value of gold/coin thus rendering these gold sellers with less advantage than they had before. As the items inflate, the value or buying power of gold goes down, and thus it wouldn’t give any incentive for the buyers to buy when they could earn theoretically, more by farming themselves. Of course, with everyone thinking gold is getting less and less valuable, you’ll need more and more to compensate for buying the same stuff. On the plus side, repair and wp costs will feel less, but on the downside, straight-up farming, dungeon rewards will be less appealing.
Do people actually buy this? >_>
Can you all imagine what a charr-made toy would look like?
)
While I dislike this, sometimes, I do lag in wvw and there’s no option for me except to alt+f4.
I’d rather hope they make it into brackets, say 1-5, then 6-10. Then as long as you’re in a 1-5 bracket, the 1-5 is almost the same, difficulty increases by a bit ofc, (and rewards as well), but generally the same difficulty. Then even if the lowest member of the group is lvl 1, as long as you do a frac run from this dungeon, you get a +1. this way, you won’t have to wait for a group wtih the same level to do, yet you still progress.
Just a hint … I think these boxes can also be forged in Mystic forge
try to do some reseach
I.. don’t think so >.> just checked the wiki
