good sir i have 703 hours on my war and i use gs axe/mace. I have endure pain and shake it off which break me free from knockdown but guess what scavangers dont care. Their leap is easy once the other mobs get to you fight them and are behind or any where near the scavanger you will be knocked down and insta killed. I have full tank set from ac as well as 4-5 of the weapons from there so i have done it quite a lot. The game only gives me 2 dodges. One on the leap and one to get away before it pwns you. While you do this your group is knocked down and receiving suprise buttt sex from the scav.

I’m an eng with full tank set (power/tough/vit armor and power/prec/tough trinkets) and I don’t get insta-killed by them. I get down to maybe 15-20% life, but that’s ok for me. as I can drink elixer S and get out to to heal for a bit.

So wait. A Ranger goes invisible for 2 seconds and now we’re hacking? Rangers can also stealth via “tuft of hair” and “feathers” from the forage skill. However, the way “Forage” was implemented it’s no wonder nobody uses it. Who wants to channel three skills, take up a pet slot, and stand still for ten seconds…just for 3 seconds of stealth? How is any of that logical in a game based around movement? There’s just so many signs of the Ranger getting the short stick it’s not even funny anymore.

No, you misunderstood. I’m not familiar with other classes hence I had to look up the ranger skills online. When I saw nothing in their active skills gives them stealth, I was a bit confused. Now no longer =P

Ok I was doing a bit of spvp, and one time I got downed by this ranger. (clearly as he had a pet by his side, and I clicked on his tag) When I got downed, I was planning to use the engineer skill 2 (the pull) to mess up his jump finish-him thing. The weird thing was, he suddenly hid and I could not see him in my screen. Then I suddenly died from the finisher. I checked the wiki and I could not see a skill that grants him invis.

Same ranger, got downed. threw the pull thing, nothing happened. (and he wasn’t out of range, range is pretty long, 900).

What’s going on? :O

Lodestones – one of two major problems. You’re not getting them in steady rate because their drop rate is extremely low and so majority of people are quite frustrated because it does increase the need for pure gold farming what is very boring. So you can count 0-100+ gold extra per legendary. I know about cores and the mystic forge but the chances for getting cores are extremely low too. The dungeons should be the main place for getting them, e.g. HoTW for corrupted and so on. For example finishing HoTW gives you 50% to get 1 lodestone for each path in daily chest, so maximum is 3 per day. It is still 33 days minimum if I do not count the low drop chance from ordinary mobs. Players will feel that they’re receiving something for their effort. It increases also demand for other dungeons than FotM only in these days.

From what I heard, you can get a decent rate of lodestones in the fractals. I don’t do much so I can’t comment, but the fact that charged went down to 1.8g from 2g+ could be an indicator. You also get a semi-decent amount of onyx at TA. I ran very few TA explo and probably got 1 lodestone and 2 cores.

Icy Runestones – again major flaw in design. This is pure gold sink.

Intended. They need alot of gold sinks for all the gold/materials pouring into the market.

Precursor – problem with precursors was somehow temporarily addressed by Ancient Karka event. However having some kind of legendary travel for obtaining precursor is way to go because this is just a start. Start for another long journey. It’s pity it wasn’t introduced from the start.

Lindsey said they will work on legendaries being a sort-of scavenger-hunt feel. Tbh, if you’re reading this in forums, you should try to get your prec now. I doubt the price drop will last long.

Globs – well it’s controversy. I’m not sure why it was invented like this. 250 globs necessary for crafting Gift of Fortune but Mystic Clovers need globs too. Its very weird. Also the average amount of globs for getting 77 Mystic Clovers is I believe around 230..not sure now. It was written somewhere. So it is almost 500! globs (another 100g). I can understand 100 globs but another 250..very weird.

There are alot of ways to get globs. In one run of a frac, I got myself 4 rares, which means anything from 0-12 ectos. And from what I heard, fracs drop rares/exo like candy, esp if you can get the jade maw chest thing.

The time I’m frustrated is the time I’m stuck and not getting anywhere (even in very slow rate). If I know I can get X amount of any material per X hours/days I can simply plan the legendary journey. RNG is common factor in MMO’s but I would rather prefer clever RNG or RNG supported by guaranteed resources if I do XY content every hour/day/week whatever.

If Anet can address this issue the players won’t complain. It’s all about having a feeling that I move forward and not staying on the same place for too long.

Btw. I do agree that getting legendary should take very long time but it’s better to have the journey divided to thousands of small parts (“rewards”) rather than having huge gaps in some cases on your path. I believe that these gaps are source of all complains.

I disagree to the last statement. If you only get large chunks for the legendary, you will feel progress is so slow. If you get a thousand small parts, the feat might seem insurmountable. Imo, a good mix of large chunk and small chunk is good, which is the status quo.

I believe people will always find something to complain about. To quote some guy I saw in a magic the gathering forum “If wizards (the company) puts in $20 bill in packs(costing around ~$4-5), I bet people will still complain that it’s folded”.

Mystic forge? or buy it from TP? The other place I know that drops precursors were the jormag chest, and random world loot. (but this method is veeeeery slim, much slimmer than the MF gamble).

How many fracs do you do to get your “daily”? And what exactly do you get from it?

Erm…. you can start wherever you want/feel most comfortable starting. First thing you have to know is all the materials required for making your legendary. Here gw2wiki will be of big help. From there you decide how you’ll proceed. Personally, here’s my plan:

Get dungeon gift (easiest, to give you some hope :P)
Get 500 badges (via eb and bl jumping puzzles mainly)
All throughout those, you might want to farm to get money you’ll need to buy/MF your precursor. I’d advise you to get your precursor as soon as you can since it’s still relatively cheap compared to before.

Then the first gift I’d recommend getting is the gift of fortune. Why? Next to precursors, it’s the most expensive thing you will need, so better get the hard part out of the way. Gather around 480-500 ectos, around 148-150 skill points, 250 worth of obsi shards (but just to be safe I’d go with ~300 since the temple of balthazar doesn’t open regularly) and ~231 mystic coins to get your 77 clovers. They will also give you a bit of t6 mats. The rest you can farm for coin or for the mats themselves.

After that, you might want to start with your gift of ________ (say, gift of sunrise). So you might need to level to 400 2 professions you’ll be needing, either in an alt or your main char. This might take awhile depending on the weapon you want (ones requiring charged lodestones or any lodestone in general will be difficult). You’ll also be needing 100 icy runestones which is a fixed 100g (1g ea) and the sigil for the gift of _______

Hopefully by this time you’ll have your precursor now. Now all that’s left is to get you your remaining obsi shards to get you gift of mastery. After that… you’re done!

Keep in mind this is my path, and I’m not really going to stick myself to doing one thing before proceeding to the next. In a day I usually do my daillies, farm for an hour or so, do dungeons for karma and coin, and wvw for fun (and karma as well, and badges if you haven’t done them). The way I do it is I do these multiple activities a day to keep it varied. I can’t stay and farm in orr for more than 1hr and 30min in a day. I also level up 2-3 alts so that takes away a big chunk of my time.

Haha, the T6 mats only spiked because the insane requirements for ascended stuff.

What they did was increase precursor drop rate, slightly, but then add a bunch of new items that require the same items to make as legendary recipes, but with as many mats required.

Making legendaries just got more expensive than it was before and then you go ahead and say we need to work more for them than you had to. How selfish and ignorant.

Of course they would have to do something to “normalize” the market as they felt the prices of those t6 and ectos were too low (now I kinda feel they’re too high, but the more people get them, hopefully it’ll pan out eventually). Or would you rather go back to the good old days where getting a prec was the biggest barrier to your legendary, and it all depended on whether you’re lucky or not?

Thieves drop people really really fast and really well in wvw, but if you’re looking for utility, play an eng! Right now, we have a sorta-like-mesmer-pull but less powerful (with only 1 target, longer cast time, and often fails due to LOS :c) but when it works, it feels oh so sweet. grenades do decent but consistent aoe dmg. Mortar still sucks but skill 5 is rather fun to use, and supply crate is always nice in small skirmishes (say 5v5).

Actually, i checked the wiki, but I have no idea what’s the mesmer pull skill :| Is it temporal curtain?

I think one reason TC can focus on FA is that while at certain times YB may be leading in the map, the gap between TC and YB is still pretty far off, so sometimes, it’s in TC’s best interests to let YB take SMC and keep it while TC takes FA towers and keep. (Talking about in EB). i.e., so long as the gap between YB and TC in the minute ticks is not too big, TC can survive (until it gets its primetime hours on).

Same here. Already bought my prec pistol due to the karka event, but still a long way from home. Still sitting at 370k karma, 35 jugs 24 vials of karma, 63 ectos and 3-10 of each t6 mat except dust and bone. Already got the dungeon gift as well was the wvw badges. Also still at 180 skill points and will probably have to level and play with my alt for a number of hours to get the appropriate skill points needed for the clovers. so… yep. If I don’t get bored, I’ll probably finish some time next year, hopefully first quarter. If not, some time next year mid year.

The problem here is that people feel compelled to get the pve monthlies but don’t like one particular aspect of it. WvW will always be a pve zone no matter how you look at it (the fact that your pve char has pve gear/skills/traits/etc already says alot). Sorry, you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

what? reduce costs for low levels? :| Even at lvl 56, my repair costs cost < 3-5s (for total repair) and wp is <1s. I disagree for the notion. Mainly coz when I started all my alts, I did not transfer any coin to them as there really is no need for it. I even earned 2-3g on my 56 alt which I transfered over to my main. (I got it all by just selling armors. I even salvage all whites I see (usually) and keep all food/gem/ore/wood/FCMs I see) so I see no reason to lower the prices. Sure at lvl 80 it’ll be very different, but at that point, you should be able to have a good grasp on how to earn some decent coin.

exactly here. Also, if you’re rushing through stuff (like 100% or doing hearts or getting from point A to point, every second spent typing or reading is a second “wasted”. It all depends on the intention of the player when playing at that particular time. Sometimes I can slack off and just walk around willy-nilly, and then, it’s ok to chat with someone or even go out of my own way to join them up on a quest or skill or w/e. Sometimes, I feel a bit of pressure for the need to finish some stuff, and I’d much rather do it solo so I can do it faster.

It’s fine as it is. And I get more coin from the armors that drop anyway than the trophies.

sorry but apart from grinding and gold, what other “difficult” methods would you require? Insane jumping puzzles like the mad king clock tower? I’m sure even more people would complain. Sorry but this reads “we want them to be diffucult, but, you know, not really.”

I can sympathize with the previous era wherein precs were insanely expensive. But now that precs are easier to obtain (arguably, at least no more 400g legends/dusk in the market), there’s no real reason to complain anymore.

I’m kinda in the same mood as the other poster above. Quit complaining and start farming. And get your precursors now before supply dries up. There’s only so much time before a number of people buys up all the precs in the market and they become expensive again. People complaining about precs being insanely expensive = this I can understand. People complaining about lodestones = this too I understand. (and somehow, whether by design or by accident, both precs and lodestones are in a stable-ish time now. I heard people were getting decent amount of cores/lodestones in fracs). People complaining that the t6 mats and ectos are expensive = we gotta draw the line at some point. With such varied and itemized mats needed, at the very least a progress bar is visible, something which legendary farmers were clamoring for for a long long time.

Indeed. I would much rather have cheaper precursors (or in this case, buyable precursors) and expensive t6/ectos rather than the reverse. (oh and just in case, nope I don’t have gift of fortune/might/magic yet, I’ve only got like 58 ectos and 3-6 t6 mats each except bones and dust).

If you can save up a few silver, that’s already alot. I only have a few left from getting my 500 badges.

I have never encountered such an OP mob. Probably my biggest pet peeve would be the vet risen abomination due to the stacks of berserk he can get and eventually being able to 2-3 shot my engineer. I played with ele, eng, guard, and war and while I die ALOT in my ele, I really can’t say its OP. It’s definitely harder on a light-armor class, but it does help you know how to chain your skills well to survive/give max dmg output and the playstyle of the class.

I’m all and good for OP mobs, or mobs that would 1-shot glass cannons (as they should), but I’m rather irked at one of the SE path before they changed it, the one with infinite waves. (I heard there’s still the infinite waves thing, but idk what the changes were exactly. not exactly alot of people lining up to do SE dungeons now).

I’m playing less now as well. Mainly coz it’s so hard to find people to do dungeons now that everyone and their grandmother is doing fractals mostly. I don’t like fractals at the moment coz of the dc issue, and it’s quite hard to find people to do them at low levels (esp at overflow).

Somehow, as soon as I finish my daillies, I’m done for the day. I extend a bit for some spvp (just for fun) and some wvw, but my overall daily play time has decreased.

I tried this in the mists, and I can only get up to ~16 stacks of might at a time. I got 110% boon duration. Also, the time it takes to “prepare” for the 25 stacks of might is a bit time consuming =/

OH! when you said t6, i understood it as t6 FCMs >.< And here I thought I’d be getting a vial of blood from a white/blue salvage >.< hahaha and yea, i salvage whites all the time, and got alot of oris. I actually get more of my stash (got around ~300 ores now) that way than running around in orr/fg/sc. (ofc, I’m also lazy and staying in one spot is more for me :P)

Market has shifted. They placed alot of supply for precursors and alot of demand for t6 and ectos. =/ In the end, we’re still in the same boat as before. At least this time around, it’s easier to see your progress (by that I mean it’s easier to acquire a prec now, and once that’s done, you can clearly see your progress towards your legendary). Maybe this is what the QQers were looking for?

When I first heard that they’d be increasing story mode rewards, I thought it would be significant. Then I realized it’s just the same as explo for the first day, but without the tokens. =/ Increase rewards for the first time to, say 4.5k and silver to ~50s. That’d make them interesting for people to do.

It’s also alarming coz the stats are not necessarily better. They’re… unique and could probably give a different gameplay style.

I heard the item itself is a super rare drop from the arah dungeon. The recipe for it is even rarer (even rare than getting a precursor from mf or from a random drop in the world. that or not enough people are doing arah).

I think anyone who has gotten their hands on a recipe will be an instant millionaire. (well, sorta. hardly no mat investment, just time and a bit of silver for repairs).

errr why? Some people wanna skip mobs to be faster. Isn’t that generally a good thing? And some people skip kohler because well, chests don’t drop anything good usually, the bag of gems isn’t enough, or people wanna do it faster.

People will always try to find the most efficient way of doing them. I see nothing wrong with it.

Honestly, the daily achievement of killing 15 diff types of mobs is more difficult than the monthlies >_> had to change chars 3x just to finish it (or go to wvw)

I… well, dislike it for being a dungeon. I always think of it as a mini dungeon/puzzle because almost all fracs have a jumping/puzzle aspect to it. that said, while combat mechanics are still present, there’s less emphasis on them (compared to proper dungeons). Still, they’re still intersting to do :P
