Playing the market is not the only viable way to make gold. Not even close.
Also this wouldn’t work. If you attempt to artificially increase prices without a change to supply, you’ll just get an oversupply of incomplete transactions.
Someone’s artificially increasing the prices of silver doubloons o.o Unless, of course, you guys deem current prices as the “expected” price for it. o.o
^
Unless they suddenly said
“Slightly increased droprate of silver doubloons from bags. Also, it is now possible to transmute copper doubloons into silver doubloons.”
Boom! Silver takes a hit while copper skyrockets (from their current price anyway).
But… it’s easy to get stacks of mithril ore. I don’t even gather them from nodes and I’ve amassed 4-5 stacks.
Archetypical classes like Guardians (aka. Paladins) and Warriors are always very popular classes in every MMO. It has always been this way.
Performance doesn’t really affect class popularity as much as people here seem to think.
That said, Warriors deal by far the most damage in this game. They easily boast twice the DPS compared to any other class.
Guardians on the other hand are invaluable supporters on PvE. They make every encounter significantly easier and provide the largest arsenal of support abilities.
I don’t think so. While it is true that warrior is a very popular choice among games, if they nerfed or increased the complexity of a warrior to the point of an ele, I doubt many people will still go for it. I think it’s a strategic move made by the devs, since they know even without playing the game first, alot of people will choose warrior, they made his usage simple enough to learn and very direct. This way, more user-friendly = easier to attract new players.
unless the buffed it, CM story mode was one of the easiest dungeon runs ever. ever. for all story modes. CM explo is also pretty easy (just annoying at path 3, but lots of viable strategies for it). The problem is that there is a huge disparity between the level of difficulty of open-world mobs and dungeons. With open world mobs, there literally is no strategy needed apart from kiting and trying to survive as long as possbile. With dungeons, some mechanics force you into adopting certain strategies (range only, move fast, ignoring trash mobs, running past mobs, stealth, coordination) that simply isn’t and will not be available in open world. Take Claw of Jormag for instance. Apparently, for phase two you need to clear the way for the golems to bomb him so you can hit him freely without the debuff. But what do people do? Zerg it anyways, and continue hitting him. You cannot do those in dungeons. Dungeons are meant for higher-level gameplay, and even then, alot of people find dungeons easy (and could do them in their sleep, like AC for instance, which is probably the most grinded dungeon due to ease and good rewards).
I’m amazed no one has yet to post a “l2p noob” comment here.
no please, we need more people converting gems to gold to lower the exchange rate!
They drop reaaly rare from heavy mold bags, the ones you get in orr. Opened ~450 bags, got 1 eye. =(
Out of curiosity, why would you need that much space? 20 slots put you at 100 inventory space without buying any additional slots, and that’s quite enough unless you are farming for 10 hours without ever going to a vendor.
That being said, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see anything over 20 slots.
probably the only reason to get a full set of 20slot bags. but for the 20slot invisible bags, there are alot of uses. I plan to get one eventually.

so the guy had to shell out 400g just to put it up? :O
The only reason I’m concerned with the increasing prices of gems is I’ll have to buy 5 box-o-fun for my legendary o.o I’d really like to buy more slots for char and bank, but it’s much cheaper to make an alt guild to store all your stuff (non-soulbound/accountbound anyway). but in any case, I hope alot more people will buy gems to convert to gold so the ratio will go down
At the rate, it seems more people are willing to just farm up the extra gold than shell out real life cash.
Maybe he meant he got an common-tier dye from an unknown rare dye tier. which might be a bug o.o
i can imagine 22 slot bags for…. 30g.
and yea, gold sinks in game are not enough imo.
I hate him since his character lacks any dynamism that makes him memorable. See now with characteres like tybalt, sieren, (i don’t know the vigil partner yet. haven’t reached that level yet), now those guys were memorable, lovable, funny, round, and you can actually see life in their voice delivery. Trahearne is akin to listening to a broken record over and over again. I’m actually hoping he’ll be made out into an antagonist in the future (kinda like the white mantle/shining blade thing, that was pretty nice).
That said, I used to hate Logan and the rest of DE for being too whiny, but after doing a number of story mode dungeons, I kinda understand where each character is coming from and the weight they’re carrying on their shoulders. At that point, I started to pitty and feel sad for Logan.
The only way for them to drive up the prices of gems for wintersday is to convert themselves thousands of gold into gems at the current price. Imo, if you wanna screw them, once that happens (and we see 100g for 2-3g), buy lots of gems and cash out. I wish I could do that though >.>
I bought dusk 2 days ago for 325g (i made an offer) and got it within 5minutes, that’s not too expensive imo and now i got my twilight.
But you can always wait for welfare precursors.
^
Seriously, when someone puts up 400g for a dusk on TP, it’s not that that’s your only source of dusk in the market. Try putting up 300g (which I think is a fair price for it right now.) and you might just be lucky enough for your buy order to be filled.

What if someone has two accounts, and wants to put his legendary which he farmed from one account to the other?
try putting buy orders. not everyone has 400g to throw around.
gardener?

Can I do it with precursors as well?
I’ve never gotten a power trader booster. :O
I expect prices of stuff to increase again. With wintersday so near and ecto prices still high, I expect them to release a “limited time only” recipe which involves ectos and t6, that’ll make ectos around 40-50s.
After that cynicism, here’s some weapon skins I might be interested in
Snowball rifle – shoots snowballs
candycane mace – er.. mace that looks like a candycane
A snowman costume (that you can use for costume brawls. THEY’RE BACK!)
A mini-game kinda like the ones we had in halloween but with a wintersday theme.
He’s a bot. Hope you took an ss!
It actually depends on what build you’re running. I don’t run elixer R personally. I run P/S with bomb, elixer B and elixer S. B is mainly for extra damage, and can usually be swapped out, but I put it in there when I go the HGH stacking might route. With bombs, I can reliably get 10 stacks of might (around 4-5 area might) as the battle progress. Ofc I run a tanky eng (power/tough/vit armor and knight trinkets, with elixer-infused bombs trait) so my choices are different.
If I’m not traiting HGH and boon duration, I’m traiting kit regen + condition-removing elixers. Never leave your condi removal at home. I like elixer gun but it doesn’t target you unless you do the dog-in-a-circle thing (I’m not even sure if it works hehe).
knockback on shield 4 and 2s stun on shield 5? Then equip a personal battering ram (a personal favorite) to knock him back again. by this time, you should’ve placed a number of conditions on him. When he’s rushing to you, you can also use skill 3 to blind his bull’s charge to miss. I actually fear range people more than melee, as engineers don’t really have much range options (or solutions to range).
Just a question about evasive arcana. Does the blast trigger at the start of the roll or at the end of it?
would be nice if they made a legendary backpack for us engineers
it’ll throw stars for grenades, heart bombs, and the sparks (like Jubilee in xmen cartoons) for elixer gun. Personally, I’m going for Quip. I think it’s still nice even if I don’t use it 100% of the time. :P
I just don’t want my asura to look terrible, which is what ac armors are. =/ hence, im farming for cm tokens :P
Sad to say, they will never reveal data on how dr really works. Doing so would only provide more info for hackers/botters on how to circumvent it. =/
wrt to pvp, i think eles are better than necros if played well. for eles, on the plus side, they added the blast finisher for arcana thingy when attuned to earth. and you aren’t forced to use bow as a thief in wvw. in fact, alot of thieves in wvw i see use daggers, and do the stealth → 1combokill → stealth thing. im not very familiar with thieves.
Overall, choose the class which compliments your playstyle. Imo, try a necro =P And pets.. well.. alot of people say they’re lackluster. and most i know go into a condi-build :p
probably did this to combat those teleporting bots =/
oooooh congrats! now, on to legendary armor!
(in the future patch ofc)
I thought with the advent of fractals, rares are becoming easier to get. It’s just that the amount of more rares can’t keep up with the demand of 300 ectos to make your ascended backpack, and another 500 ectos to infuse your rings.
Maybe alot of people are now done with their ascended backpieces? (or the hype is gone now?) I think that coupled with the banning is what drove the prices up in the first place.
While I don’t think the ascended items have actually done much to the price when compared to the initial bot bannings, I am personally part of the increased demand side of the equation. Not because of ascended gear, but because I finally finished levelling one of my craft skills to 400 about two weeks ago and started buying ectos on the TP in order to craft exotics…
Just saying that increased demand can be due to multiple factors, not just the one people assume is the culprit…
Ah well of course it also depends on the maturity of the players as well (I mean how far they’ve gone into the game). But I’m merely citing those as big spikes in increase in demand/decrease in supply. I’m not saying it’s the only factor, but it could be a significant factor to consider.
Tax avoidance? :O You can avoid tax in game?
) on a side note, I really really wish there was a way to short-sell some stocks/mats in game >.> (now that alot of prices are going down)
I thought it was account bound. o.o
if Tixx can make a baby quaggan toy out of a baby quaggan… more power to him!
“wtb quaggan mini” (I assume a mini is a toy)
I already sent a ticket a looong time ago but I figure it’s time to ask if other people experience this as well. I’m using the AC armor dungeon pre-installed with monk runes. However, the aegis buff doesn’t trigger when I use my supply crate. (engineer). it does work with elixer X though. Didn’t notice about mortar.
Maybe alot of people are now done with their ascended backpieces? (or the hype is gone now?) I think that coupled with the banning is what drove the prices up in the first place.

Tell me about it. It was horrible trying to get the last 20 points in jewelry. It was really bad because out of all of the disciplines they decided jewelry needed globs of ectoplasm for their rares REALLY? globs in only one profession? yeah…not good.
[/quote]
To be fair, it’s easier to 1-375 a jeweler than 1-375 the other crafts that need FCMs. (except cooking and artificing, those are easy).
Thanks. I don’t normally run dungeons on my Jeweler.
it’s account bound so you can just transfer it to your jeweler and learn it. (unless your jeweler is on a diff account o.o)
melandru and the temples are pretty good source of loot and the chest is pretty nice (well, as far as chests go). If not, you can bring a buddy to kite mobs while you go invis and commune with it. (It’s the commune one right?)
Imo, it’s like there are two phases to this game: pre-80 and post-80. Pre-80, all you care about is leveling, gathering, crafting, enjoying the content and story (as best as you can >.>), enjoying the scenery, doing a few dungeons for the heck of it, etc without really planning too much. Post-80, you now try to set yourself a goal, be it a legendary, t3 cultural, a few lvl 80 alts, your exotic gear, your fancy exotic gear, ascended gear, wvw, etc. These things will undoubtedly take up a great deal of time, much more than pre-80. These things also focus more on numbers (amount of gold/karma/badges/loot/tokens you have), as well as imo, more “hardcore” playstyle (farming, doing multiple dungeon runs, planning out how best to achieve your goal, etc).
Now, both parts are important and fun. However, imo, pre-80 and content available for pre-80 (disclaimer: i’m not saying it’s a strict gameplay change once you hit 80, I’m saying that there is a change and you might notice it) is sufficient for casual players who only have a few hours a day/week to play.
Also, accdg to anet, no one likes grinding, and imo they did a good job leveling you to 80. There are only very few instances where I felt leveling was a grind (maybe a total of 5-10 levels). They made it short as well so you don’t feel like a grind.
how do you make an ecto?
make any rare item and salvage it. (lvl 80 rare)
it’s soulbound on use.
I would be happy.
Your vitality is killing you.
oh… interesting. guess i have a use for my knight’s set after all :P
I thought the point of using div runes was for the +crit dmg. o.o
I know alot of people who play the game but stay away from the official forums due to the massive amount of QQ.
There are regular exotics – everyone can easyly get them
Where do these drop exactly? The only exotic I haven’t bought at the TP are the Mad King’s slippers from the clocktower – and a single rifle I gave to a guildy. That’s 2 exotics in 400+ hrs game time. Just curious.
TP or craft them. They’re significantly easier to make than the other stuff. Idk now, but before, took me < a week to get full exotic gear (including trinkets).
