The route I’d suggest is getting your prec first. once that’s done, you’re 50% (more or less) the way done. It’ll also give you better motivation to finish up the rest, since the rest can be added incrementally.

Unless things change, its possible to get rings even by doing the 10-19 bracket.

GW2 seems to have trouble figuring that out, which I think comes back to the issue that this game is economy focused instead of content focused. Every encounter is designed around how it will affect the economy instead of centered around the reward like in other MMO’s.

I dont think the game is economy-focused. But every single decision regarding rewards, loot, item WILL have an impact on the game economy. The fact is, you really do have to take into consideration the game economy, because a lot is hinged on that. I’d wager a poor economy turns people off faster than poor content. (case in point: count how many threads there are that complain about how a.) the market is screwed b.) difficult it is to get a certain reward vs the lameness of the dungeon, living world, game mechanics, etc.)

This new trait system is kinda funny. It’s better for actual new players since they don’t get bombarded with all the trait points instantly, and it encourages them to experiment more per bracket. But its worse for any player before this change happened, since we already know which traits we want.

Before people forget, there was a time when charged lodestones were hitting around 4-5g each, Onyx lodestones were 1.5g each, t6 blood was around 1g each, ectos were hitting kitten . T6 dust also reached around 50-60s each. Of course, those also were the times when a chaos gun was around 100-200g only. (legendaries are crazy now)

I’m no economics guy. But if inflation was that severe, wouldn’t it affect all kinds of goods instead of a few luxury pieces? Like, wouldn’t my 70g now have less purchasing power than back then? (I was gone for more than 6 months more or less) Honestly I feel I can still buy the things I want/need the same as before. And its even easier now, coz just by playing casually, I managed to get 40g more just buy playing the game over a few days (which would probably be pennies to most of you guys).

More than 6 months ago, people were also claiming gw2 is gonna loose people because of this and that. At that point, I had to quit not because of the game, but work, real life stuff. Recently I tried playing. And from the numbers I see in dungeons or wvw, it seems it hasn’t gone down much tbh. These “gw2 is gonna loose players if they don’t do A, or B, or C” serve as a poor attempt for suggesting what could be better done for the game. It’s more of a whine really, when their suggestions aren’t done/haven’t happened.

Anet should learn to put ‘rare’ items in challenging content instead of ALWAYS being craftable inside mystic toilet or crafting stations. GW2 is becoming a Craft Simulation game and i don’t play an MMO to craft all my %$#& and then stand in a city asking myself why i spent so much time/money crafting an item when there’s no content to be experienced with it.

Want a legendary? buy one off the tp (or buy 90% of the mats and “grind” the skillpoints/karma needed) want minis? buy them off the tp. Want anything? buy it off the tp.

what in this game is even worth showing off to other people? What can I get for 2000 hours of playing your game that a fresh 80 cant get with a creditcard?

Exactly. Its D3 all over again-.-

D3 has a much much more terrible AH system, and the things you need there are actual things to progress in those crazy-hard modes. I’ve finished the game with my exotics. 1. Trahearne dies
2. Pale Tree dies
3. One particular group suffers tremendous losses due to mismanagement and will resent you (whispers, priory, vigil)
4. _ race helps you achieve your victory (kodan, the bird people, the water butterfly people, skritt, quaggans, hyleks (the race you chose to help/save))
5. Trahearne goes evil (this saying that Trahearne isn’t inherently evil, but possess the potentiality to become evil instead, setting up the next leg of the PS for an expansion or w/e)
6. You win, but credit is stolen from you (explicitly this time), you’re framed for doing something wrong, and people become wary/suspicious of you.
7. DE dies (or members of DE die, depending on various choices and outcomes in the final special instance)

I meant to say that even if your dye is celestial, the armor you’re wearing is metallic, so it will adopt a reflective property not found on light/medium armors, hence the yellow-ish hue. Can you try to take a picture in a dark place, say, like AC dungeon? So far, that’s the only theory most people are going for. If the armor still presents a yellow-ish hue, then it’ll surely be a bug.

PvE'ers: What would it take...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Wvw certainly has room for tactics. For example, zerg a has 50 players, while zerg b only has 30. A clash happened. Zerg B won. Why? Can be a multitude of reasons: players coordinating well, putting down appropriate skills in a timely manner (chain veil, chain null fields, chain healing blast finishers, chain banners), more appropriately geared (majority in toughness/survivability gear), superior tactics (going as a ball, knowing how to exploit turns in a road, height, targetted/coordinated attacks, weaving, etc), siege support, etc. And this is all just in a zerg. Being in wvw, you can either solo-roam, group roam, sentry, scout, harass, snipe yaks, etc. It does get a bit stale after doing it so often, that’s why i’m hoping the changes to the orbs will make things interesting again.

a) cof is no pve – it’s a kitten d dungon. Plus, I got 2 legendarys and enougth gold for one more but not even one stack cof tokens. So this is not a problem of the game – it’s problem of simpleton community.

b) engineers are right behind warriors dps with zerker hgh grenades.

c) so much more to say, but to keep it short: your field of vision seems very limited – maybe you should not judge about any class so naive. Every class has some guys who realy mastered their clas and who are able to be very very effective in pve content also. Again, cof is no pve – it’s a kitten d dungon.

d) PvE does not have to be balanced.

CoF is pve… And it’s just an element of PvE i used an example as most people can relate to it, i also don’t have a clue what you’re saying throughout half you post, as well it simply doesn’t make sense.

His point was that you shouldn’t use CoF as an example for PvE, mainly because CoF is so streamlined it’s a terrible example for PvE content, mainly because everyone already knows that 4war1mes zerk team is gonna be the most efficient team for that. Use other examples like other dungeons, maybe, then people can relate better.

Repost: making WvW similar to sPvP

Well gear exists in spvp to build for survivability.

I honestly don’t really see the difference in game modes though tbh, just WvW is conquest with more nodes and walls and more players of course. And like in sPvP you get a blob flipping nodes with one person – 5 man running around doing other stuff

That is true, except that a zerg with full survivability is much preferable than an spvp team that is full bunkers. Of course, when I talk about spvp, I actually mean tpvp or a serious spvp match, not those 8v8 shennenigans where people “zerg” a bunch of nodes.

Repost: making WvW similar to sPvP

in WvW

Posted by: penatbater.4710

It won’t work because the objectives in spvp is different from the objectives in wvw. In spvp, the ultimate goal is to cap nodes and hold them, with various strategies revolving around how to maximize your team’s functionality, mobility, durability, etc. Wvw has a different tactical approach, whether it be long-term attrition-type strategy or open-field zerg clashes. The fact that survivability gear is favored in wvw than having a team with balanced gear (in spvp, that being different chars fulfill different roles in spvp) already means that both aspects of the game are vastly different (despite having the same killing-players element to it).

penatbater.4710

“I was making fun of OP for complaining about getting stuff for AP.”

Sry, this really will my last post regarding this.
When did I ever complain?
My whole point was, and still, is, the fact that these badges
are-tailored-towards-a-specific-aspect-of-the-game.
They are useless for anyone else.
We’ll, perhaps not useless then, but certainly not considered valid rewards.

And that fact makes them a redundant part for anyone who has worked to his or hers achievement count in the hope that there will a reward at the end of it.
We did not expect that a big part of that reward would be of no use to us.

I’ve made no complaints, other than to point out that,
Anet, no matter how much PvP stuff you throw at me, I will never PvP.
I will, however continue to enjoy your PvE.

Now I’ll sign off.
There are signs that this thread won’t end well.

T

Look at the bigger picture, instead of being so self-centric. Consider that Anet tries to cater to a very very very wide playerbase and without an actual char difference for pve and pvp, anet has no way of knowing if a particular player is more into pvp or pve or wvw or a mixture of the three. hence, it’ll be virtually impossible for them to tailor-fit every single reward to every single player. Not to mention, it will use up so much more valuable resources and time when it isn’t really a very big deal to begin with. Consider also that for the majority of the time since launch, anet has released quite a number of pve and wvw-centric updates, whereas pvp only really got its due attention these past few months. Lastly, consider how the pvp crowd will feel if every single achievement chest only rewards pve items. Imo, the whole package is balanced. You have gold, and karma/exp/gold+% which are mainly pve, as well as some BL items (repair canisters, orbs, boosters, etc), badges and prints for wvw crowd, and pvp reward chest for the pvp crowd. Consider that the pvp crowd considers all that gold, karma/exp/gold+%, and badges and prints useless.

in Cutthroat Politics

Kiel can create a subsidy for WP costs funded by the tax generated throughout tyria. The interesting thing is that with all the power that comes with Evon being voted in, not one of them has any actual cost associated with his success. I mean, a sale of BL keys is not really gonna cut down on his profits, because as we’ve seen, he does regular sales, even bigger sales of higher-value items. This translates to us that he isn’t too worried about costs for the sale. However, Kiel actually has to allocate some funds for reducing WP transits. I reckon the actual cost of the WP goes to the Asuran government for maintenance and repair of the WPs.

PvE'ers: What would it take...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penatbater.4710

penatbater.4710

One thing PvErs need to consider is that wvw-ers don’t go to wvw for the reward. They go there for the experience itself, for the chance to kill someone, for the chance to be part of a tactical zerg, to coordinate on a large scale, to die for your server, etc. If anything, wvw is more of a time sink. So the less you spend thinking about rewards or what can be done better, just think of the fights or strategies or maneuvers to be had. Although if you really don’t like pvp/killing someone/being killed, then it’s no fault you won’t be interested in wvw.

Personally, I feel more pve objectives (like the frogs/moles/ogres in EB or the quaggan nodes) would help ease PvE players into wvw. They’ll see it as a pve quest, but will have a real impact on wvw itself.

So you cherry picked a single sentence as if that was the entire argument and ran with it? Bravo.

If you really couldn’t have caught the point in that statement, I’m not sure it’s worth debating it with you. Are you even really trying to? Or you are just trying to invalidate my post without response?

You spent the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th paragraphs complaining about the intricacies or principles behind looting and its game aspect, and spent the 4th and 7th complaining about the real reason behind this thread. Note that I only answered those portions, because your original complaint hinged on that very premise. I responded to that point initially because I felt it is beyond stupid to consider an action (or non-action) done in-game (or in forums) not to be considered part of that game’s gameplay.

In that light, I do tend to agree that the way Grey responded was a unprofessional. However, I do not feel it is vague or unclear. I cannot pinpoint the exact post, but I distinctly remember when players were asking if so and so is considered an exploit, the anet response was that if you feel you derive some sort of advantage over another player who either does not use it or cannot use it, then it could be exploitable. But that’s another matter I do not really wish to discuss (as it would require extensive knowledge of exploit cases handled by anet and their response), not to mention the vast gray area it’s implications in wvw.

In a human aspect, I would understand her frustration when players try to be as pedantic as possible with regards to the rules, as if to look for a legal loophole for them to exploit. Clearly, it goes against the philosophy of GW2 to create a fair and fun game for everyone.

So according to Gaile using a macro for auto-looting, opening loot; is considered “playing faster”. I’m sorry, but who in the hell considers looting and opening items playing? Seriously.

Actually, your complaint is the one that’s pedantic. Any action (or non-action) done in game, I consider playing. And I bet many people share my point of view. One fundamental flaw in that line of reasoning, is that it can very well be replaced with any other word, and then it’s silliness is revealed.
For example:
1.) …who the hell considers chatting playing?
2.) … who the hell considers making artsy guild logo designs playing?
3.) … who the hell considers changing armor colors playing?
4.) … who the hell considers waypointing (and charging for waypoints) playing?
