The only guild I’m actively threatened is BT and AVTR when they were around. I guess I don’t wvw as often as I should, but since DB is still pretty new, I’ve yet to see individual guilds stand out atm.
start organizing/propaganda for more people to be active in wvw?
You gotta admit though, Vevina and Fyonna are also hot.
Also the Human T3 armor merchant. That’s right, the npc herself!
Hmmm… I must investigate!
Dear Jade Quarry,
Omen Gaming Community (Omen) is moving to another server. We really enjoyed our time with JQ and the memories we will keep about the epic people we have met there. I would like to give props to those that followed Silverback Rayleigh/Ultima Hyperion during our passes through WvW and for the PVE community that helped us to find bounty NPCs during a rush time of countdowns.
So why Dragonbrand?
Coz it’s still dominating now? And might continue to dominate for a few more weeks. They are probably vegetarians.
Someone opened 20 boxes in overflow as well. Got nothing interesting
Just try not to let those “rare” items get to you. I just ignore them.
How does one ignore the chest burster warhorn?
One reoccuring theme that complainers still haven’t addresed or responded to is the fact that these traps are meant for veiled zergs, and not for individual thieves. The aoe is really small, and the fact that wvw maps are so vast, chances of them being all over the place is pretty slim. Plus, given that people have been fightning stealthed thieves for a long time, chances are people wouldn’t waste those traps on 1 thief (unless he’s, you know, badge-rich and wants to troll you).
I understand if you’re offended by the patch. However, does the current situation accurately describe your situation? Are you completely no longer able to stealth in wvw for your entire gameplay? Have you even triggered one of these traps?
Lastly, you act as if these traps are targetted skills that can be used on-the-fly. They’re not. They said they will add more traps in the future, so I guess we just might see those boon-removal traps, immobilize/cripple traps or some other form of traps.
TCU and MoM send her regards <3
A nice decor no?
Perhaps will be nicer if you can hold it for more than 10 min
oh no you didn’t! zigzag snap snap snap
Somehow, I think breaks are quite healthy for the gw2 gamer as well. Not 3-month long breaks, but maybe a week. :p
I heard traps aren’t included in this patch? or was it the last patch? o.o
Guess DB is dying….
I love that pose XD
Well, there really is no way to accurately say what is a casual and what is not. In the end, it is all subjective. However, if you want, try thinking of players who are hard-core. Then think of players who play “normally”. If you try to compare the level of activity both have, subtract that increment from “normals” and you’ll probably have the “casuals”.
1. Farm like crazy
2. Get a legendary (the more obnoxious, the better! Candidates all land legendaries except twilight/sunrise, for obvious reasons.)
3 kitten around in LA
4. ???
5. Profit
:D
The interesting thing is that prestige only applies from a perspective of what others think of you, or of how you think of others. You view these items/titless/armors to be prestigious so they become prestigious. Also, you seek to acknowledgement from others about your own gear/title/etc. This is not to say this is a bad thing. This is very important for everyone. However, the converse could also be true. People put different levels of value at different things in this game (and heck, in life as well). Some people value the precision of their build, some people value their looks, some people value money, some value the life of their characters (RP), etc.
Therefore, I think that while the items you listed may indeed be sources of prestige, the value attributed to each differs with each person.
Just burn down the spiders with AOE. Their numbers are finite.
D: I’ve always thought the spiders were infinite! Thanks for the tip!
You want raids? Go do Grenth :P
why not? :P

Why can’t you use the “Transmutation Stones” I still have 11 LvL80’s left and still use them on occasion, now the 66 LvL79’s are useless to me.
I think he’s talking about hte lvl 79 ones.
My quip has a story!
shiny skritt bags drop them iirc.
It’s still a bit hard to position your clones and have them burst at the exact same time. And generally, if a mes/thief bursts big, chances are they’re also paper-tissue soft
I am an Engineer, half my bloody abilities rely on RNG. You get to sympathy from me.
Kitten please! I main a mesmer.
what’s the RNG on mesmer? o.o staff? chaos armor/storm?
Iirc, for a short period of time (a day or two), legendaries had the slight stat boost over exotics. I guess this is the level of ascended weapons. However, they quickly reverted the stats back to exotic level.
Guildwars was probably the closest, Rune of Magic had very little RNG and the things dropped nicely, RF Online had very little RNG with Great drop rates.. Tera loot seems a lot less RNG based…Ace online/Air Rivals while it had high RNG later the loot rewards matched the RNG in most ways..
Some single player experiences (yes i know its not an MMO) were Diablo 1+2, Torchlight 1+2, Borderlands 1+2, Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning just off the top of my head
@RF online
Are you kidding me? The reason why it felt that RF had good drop rates is that armor and weapons break on upgrade. So even if you were able to farm 5 int lvl 60 lances, you’re still a long way off to getting a +7 int lvl 60 lance. Idk about you, but as someone who played that game (even the private servers which had better exp/drop rates), I’d rather stick to gw2’s model. At least a +7 lance was possible pretty rare and unneeded but possible here….yeah good luck getting those Lodestone drops anytime soon…
The difference is a +7 is vastly superior to a +6. Here, a legendary/mjolnir/volcanus/infinite light is in no way stronger than your average pearl greatsword.

Anet is also not anti-farming. Case in point: CoF1. If they were, they’d nerf/buff cof a looooong time ago already.
@rz
Because even if you get less and less tokens and reward at the END of the dungeon, the rewards/loot for killing the first and last boss remains the same. (10+s for the first and 15+s for the final boss) Chests also aren’t affected by DR (but they give crap loot anyway). If you can do a cof run fast enough, you get a lot of silver just by killing those bosses over and over again.
Let’s do the retroactive laurel achievement thing, then wait for people to complain about how new players are getting shafted.
We can replace them with tokens. Oh wait…
I start by making a goal. “What do I want to contribute in team play?” or “How do I want my character to be played?” Then from there, I form multiple answers such as “I want to be support damage yet still be an off-tank” to “I just want raw damage with some utilities” to “I want to be able to charge headfirst into a zerg and survive”.
From here, I try to look at all the traits, skills, and weapons a class has that helps answers those questions.
This thread is hilarious.
Every pve player’’LOL U MAD ITS WARRIOR THAT IS GOLDEN FAVORED CLASS THAT EVERY DEV PLAYS IN BATHROOM LOL U SERIOUS?’’
And every WvW player ‘’YEAH ITS THIEF, WITH THAT STEALTH THEY CAN FIGHT 10 PEOPLE AND STILL SURVIVE, STEALTH IS BROKEN THEY LIKE NINJAS OF THE NIGHT’’
I wonder if people in this thread even understand that the two sides are talking about two different things entirely
You misunderstand. It’s not how effective they are in pve/wvw (although that is also a factor). It’s more the fact that for every patch that comes along, other classes gets nerfed to oblivion while warriors get buffed each and every time.
Do tell us where you eventually moved to :p
nope. the golden child is and always be the warrior.
they’ve never dropped from loot for me, and i’ve clocked 1.6k hours now. All chests I’ve gotten were from personal story completions.
If they’re super casual, they shouldn’t worry too much about having BiS gear anyway, as the difference isn’t that big (if you consider amulets only, as rings can easily be bought with pristine fractal relics).
There are a couple things wrong here such that a modern gamer reading the OP recognizes, immediately, a glaring non sequiteur.
Almost anything of value in the game requires a good deal of grinding/farming. I’m not saying this is wrong in itself—simply present. I’m fine with optional grinds. From the standpoint of time to acquisition this requires more than ‘casual’ activity. Also, the addition of vertical progression means that you must ‘keep up’. If you walk away for an extended period of time, when you come back, you will be at a lower power level than other players. The incentive here is a strong, coercive (that’s the hook in VP), reason to not walk away. By definition, contrary to a comment above, it is a mandatory, required grind. It still mystifies me that there are gamers who don’t have a basic handle on this common gaming element.
GW2 is not unique at all among modern games in this regard, and it is most certainly not ‘casual’ in this regard.
Fair enough, but any gear past exotic isn’t needed to complete content except for agony resistance in Fractals. Even rares are good enough to do difficult dungeons if you’re good enough. What i’m saying is most “grinds” are optional. Every MMO will have a grind. In a theme park MMO, there will never be enough content for everyone. Some people will consume it all, and at rapid speeds.
GW2 provides the optional grind, and while many people say that ascended is better and therefore it is needed, 100% of the PvE in the game can be done easily without it, so it is not necessarily needed. This applies to legendaries as well. It is optional. I am a casual player, but have obtained some items that are hard to get, but at my own pace so i have not felt the grind. This is all my opinion of course.
You guys do know that it’s optional on every other game too?
Not really. For example, I need to be able to get t2/t3/t4 gear to know more about the story in DCUO. Here, I can figure out the whole story of gw2 with just rare lvl 80s.
box recipe?

All of the revive skills (illusion of life, warbanner, signet of undeath, toss elixer r I think) work only when the player is downed.
I’m confused. You don’t want farming, or earning money, yet you want a legendary to reward players who are dedicated to their own playstyle. This poses quite a big problem since how do you ascertain that dedication in game content X is equivalent to dedication in game content Y? Is 500,000 DEs worth 250,000 kills in wvw? Is doing all paths of all dungeons 5000 times the same as earning 2000g through farming/working the TP? You really don’t know.
What I realize is legendaries reward people for:
1.) Doing everything the game has to offer. Wvw, dungeons, RNG and farming, leveling (for skill points), doing DEs (for karma), etc.
2.) Dedication to all of those (tho ofc with different difficulties)
They should do something like what WM (wvw guild in NA) did: transfer out from t2 into t8 or something, or disperse amongst the other tiers to provide fun wvw action for all.
Maybe it’s not necessarily a “great dump” at the end of SAB. Maybe prices were artificially increasing because a lot of people were thinking that those items can be resold in the future for profit. So even when prices were increasing, a lot of would-be investors were still buying them, driving prices up. Once SAB was done, people who bought them were wondering where their customers were. Eventually, maybe the undercutting happened well enough to lower the price at current.
1. bring a friend
2. let friend kite mobs for a few times
3. Don’t forget your Ash legion spy kit
4. ???
5. profit!
Or substitute them to be used in making wvw prints.
so instead of the ore/log, you can do the same with cloth/leather.
The ironic thing would be if the OP was living in a rich/nice town/community, where they have no homeless, starving people living on the streets XD
On a serious note, you cannot demand that others function in a particular way that you’d like. Heck, as someone who volunteered to teach public school children (public education isn’t very good in our country) every weekend for my entire university stay, I hated people who did charity work for the sole purpose of making themselves feel good. So what if he spends $100 on those keys. For all you know, he must’ve spend $1000 on charity that month alone (the assumption that he’s rich and has his priorities set in order). So instead of using money for his luxury budget, he spent it all on keys without changing his charity budget. Did the other guy even consider this? We’re all not Schindler and that’s ok.
For any class, as I level I always use tanky trinkets and weapons/armor as much as possible.
Most boring reset weekend ever, especially with FABL stuck in a black hole. I’ve gotta say though – I have not seen 1 standout player from Dragonbrand and it disappoints me – even Kaineng had their standout roam groups, 5-mans, and solos. Some guardian with Eternity or whatever came at me at Danelon and I wrecked her in about 15 seconds on my engi.. Then I promptly got ran over by a zerg lmao. Really all I’ve seen is zergzergzergalerg from DB – either they’re camping a tower or keep in a mini-zerg or running around in a big zerg. Trust me, I’m not a zerg-hater in the slightest. When the time comes for a big fight, there shoudl be big fights.. but in those off-hours it seems DB’d rather keep 1 scout to in a keep or tower to blow a whistle and get on a loudspeaker than send out some decent small groups. Congrats to DB, you’ve got an butt-ton of coverage- you can have T1 in the midst of Arrow Cart Wars 2 =D
I guess they’re too many for any singular person/group to stand out. Unlike FA, where Corps is a group of really good players who’ll give any pugs/militia a run for their money. Maybe they’re still new to the scene so we’ll probably see more of them. But I reckon this won’t happen until DB decreases in number (which probably won’t, which means they’ll be on their way to t1 soon).
Given that the only real “end game goal,” in Guild Wars 2 is improving your own ability/skill at the game, and the only real way to measure your ability at the game is your DPS, I personally feel that a DPS meter is a very necessary addition to the game.
DPS meters will help bad and sub-par players KNOW that they are bad, and thus open their eyes to necessary improvements eventually bringing the “average skill level” of players in the game up. Good players will have a never-ending goal to strive towards improving their DPS.
Right now Guild Wars 2 rewards all players (basically) equally, regardless of how good or bad you are at the game, thus unskilled players never really come to the realization of just how under-par they are, which I find is incredibly detrimental to the future of the game’s community.
Or, you know, not dying at all.
zerk mantra build. I suck at aoe so I usually just try to down 1 person at a time as fast as I can.
tip: Let everyone bring a reflection/anti-projectile utility if they can as this helps immensely versus the gunners and shamans which deal a lot of damage. Guard’s wall of reflection/shield of absorption, thief’s smokescreen, engineer’s elixer u toolbelt skill, mesmer feedback, elementalist swirling winds. Unfortunately, I don’t think rangers, necros or warriors have any anti-projectile utility
sword actually has the greatest amount of dmg i’ve seen in mesmer skills. Prob is you have to have them stay in one spot for the entire duration. I reckon you don’t really need to be a mantra build (even if I use one :p) to utilize the burst. The greatest thing I’ve ever seen is comboing iZerk, GS 3, f1 shatter with maybe 1-2 clones and mantra of pain all within a window of 1 second.
In wvw, I run a 30/20/0/20/0 mantra build in wvw and I love it.
I actually got this build from http://www.destinysedge.net/fay/mesmer/hecate.html except i changed dueling from 4 to 5.
Although in wvw, I still rely somewhat on shatters to push the burst through as GS alone isn’t damage-y enough to bring down the targets quickly. I love critting for 2.8k on mantra of pain tho :p
