There really is no such thing as a vastly superior build in GW2 – but people think there is.
Prove it.
Like the whole obsessions some have with ‘zerker’ – a notably inferior choice in many situations that because it works when you glitch runs of CoF p1/2… people are obsessed with.
Disregard what I posted earlier, you have no idea what you’re talking about.
I actually disagree (with kichwas, and agree with you). There are some superior builds than others. However, having the build is only half, maybe a third of the battle. Knowing how to use the build is a greater factor to consider. You may have full zerk on your warrior, but if you don’t know how to play it, you’re better off getting tanky items. As I’ve said, knowing how to play your class/knowing the dungeon mechanics >>>>> any build, superior or not.
]No. I always give benefit of the doubt. It’s “what’s your build? why aren’t you build-i’m-used-to-running and why do you think it’s superior?” first. Then I see whether to keep this guy or not.
would be nice if people are like this. However, the sad reality is some are even worse. Some even discriminate against class. I believe if implemented people are gonna be like “what’s your build? lol noob condi eng /kick*”
The most beautiful thing about gw2 is that a player in inferior gear who knows how to play is >>>>>>>> than a player who is in superior gear but doesn’t know how to play his class. That’s why the first thing I ask when someone joins a dungeon run is not “what is your gear?” but “are you new to this dungeon/familiar with this dungeon?” Mechanics > stats any day. (I’m not saying I accept only experienced players. If they are new, I make sure to guide them accordingly throughout the dungeon, to equip condi removal at some encounters/stunbreaks, mechanics of the boss fights, etc)

Brilliant. Because gear is the only thing used measure of a person’s play skill. Bravo.
Assuming that the players are equally skilled (or equally unskilled), then it is gear that matters. Besides, isn’t building an effective gear a part of being a skilled player?
Ok let’s break it down.
1. You assume that you and other person is of equal skill.
2. You relate effective gear to a skilled player.
Ergo
3. By assumption 1, we can assume as well that said player has effective gear.
Therefore, if you assume someone is equally skilled as you, then you must also assume that they have effective gear.
it’ll lead to elitism.
well, a lot of the classed underwent some changes. But I think necros still don’t get the love they were asking for. Pet AI has improved imo (pets dont get aggro anymore unless you have the aggro first) so that could be a plus to MM necro.
Stalk RP-ers. Don’t mess with their RP, or don’t interrupt them. Just… sit down and watch o.o
I think the only place where defense is really important is in wvw, for zerg rushing. There’s no point of being glass if you can’t even do a skill for dying in a second (in a zerg of course. Skirmishes and small matches are a different matter).
Yea I sent him the link for that SS Vol. No dice, still doesn’t buy it.
Then… he doesn’t have to o.o With all the proof here, if he still doesnt wanna believe, nothing really you can do about it.
I agree. Guild Wars 2 is not the answer. It is the question. The answer is “yes”.
Wrong. The answer is 42.
Loot bags are a distraction the enemy team does to make you go back into the fire zone.
They are not interested in meeting the expectations of their customers, and would rather focus their time on temporary events that nobody really cares about (how long were you in southsun before you were done there this month? 2 days?).
Don’t expect duels any time soon, if ever.
I’m a customer, and my expectations were certainly met. And I do care about those temporary events. o.o
Well you have to understand that wvw is quite different from spvp. So even if you want to put some spvp in wvw, chances are there would still be some balance issues (food buffs for one thing bring so much to the table that spvpers don’t get).
Only sentries have the right to complain. No way sitting at your garrison ticking siege all day long will ever reward you with a laurel.
So I hear TC offered BT 30k gold.
I assure you there isn’t an iota of truth to that…
Even if TC would do something so stupid….the server’s full and they couldn’t transfer anyway.
I’d rather they send me 60g so I can be a troll commander
TOO MUCH NUMBERS ARRGH!
But good job haha I think the random number there has too big an impact to the overall base rating. But what do I know
Can we do one last dolyak parade with BT before BT transfers? I got my potions ready already! But most likely, I will be the lone karka in a sea of dolyaks, snapping at the dolyaks’ ankles >:)
Time-gated dedicated quest for precursors would be so awesome! :p
I find that what kind of gamer I am tends to change from time to time. Pre-legendary (before acquiring the legendary), I was more pve hardcore. I would make sure to do daily fractals, and do at least cof 1 and 2 at least once per day, do multiple dungeon runs for the tokens and the coin, etc. Post-legendary, I’m more a “what do I feel like doing today?”. Currently, that means wvw, but not all the time, which is why I bought a new char slot to try out a thief. :p
Geez, if only I can record a video and upload it to youtube (youtube is blocked from where I am), I’d show you a run of me all around orr on my mes, guard and engie, and show you how easy it is. The fact that dying is not a big deal makes me wonder why people are still complaining about this. Probably the only valid complaint I saw was the one by Tyrannus Blade, about knockdowns having irregular times with different mobs (some knock you down for 2 sec, some much longer. they should be the same imo)
You can demand all you want for your cheeseburger to look like this: http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.5024215061170247&pid=15.1
but it will 99% of the time look like this:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-D-u0DU0ZtO0/TWwStSvGBVI/AAAAAAAADjs/7M2k-OXpxt4/s1600/mcdonalds_cheeseburger_01.jpgOr just go a place that you know will net you a good burger. I have no illusions the rare times I stop into McDs.
You’re… kinda missing the point here. But meh, you know what I mean. :p

Maybe it would be a good idea if sigils were part of your traits, and you had to go to a professions trainer to re-pick them?
That seem like too radical of a change…. but that’s the sort of thing i’m trying to get to. some sigils have no trade offs when you can freely switch between them, and that makes them completely over powered.
Yea, kinda agree with you there. Well, sigils aren’t meant to have a trade-offs anyway. They’re meant to augment a particular playstyle.
Mobs give a large amount of CC yet the game provides us with multiple ways to address it. I don’t see how it is a design issue o.o It’s not like you get caught in 1 cc and you insta-die in orr.
I’d rather that you lose those stacks if you unequip your weapon with the sigil stacking thing,
So…. the issue here is poor marketing?
Yeah i know that. but what i’m wondering is why we are forced to do that? why do we have to buy a bloodlust sigil, buy another weapon to house that sigil, and switch to and from those weapons for the added bonuses? why cant we just have one weapon, instead of 4-5 so that we can achieve maximum sigil strength?
I hate to break it to you buddy, but… we aren’t forced to do that. >.>
Are you guys serious?
Protip: Mobs cannot use attacks while moving.
As far as having 5 or more mobs stunlock you with CC, it’s because you’re not suppose to be fighting that many mobs at once by yourself. If you are and cannot counter the CC, you need to run away and kite.
You’re not meant to sit in a hoard of 8 mobs with them attacking you.
You run, they leash, you focus on one while the others retreat and continue until they are dead. If you cannot do this or doing so does not complete the task that the mobs are involved in, then you should enlist help.ever tried to run trough Orr? You’ll have to aggro something. And then it’s a never ending pull-pull-pull as everybody comes because a Risen called some friends over.
I occasionally run through orr, and I don’t see the problem o.o If I die, it means I wasn’t moving fast enough. I usually die not because of mobs, but because I was walking/running/jumping into something that I couldn’t.
I guess it’s merely a poor marketing choice of words. Had the words been “huge amounts of free content”, there probably wouldn’t be an issue. Whatever they were working on was more or less set in stone, it’s the marketing of it that had to change to avoid misconceptions (like one we have now).
People have been stacking sigils on one weapon, then switching/taking out that weapon and keeping the stacks for quite some time now.

Obviously,
You’ve made your choice in Sympathizing, Advocating and Defending the Manipulations, Lies and Deceptions.
I’m sure their Promise of "Manifesto” were Fulfilled to you.
“So, yea… really”?
In what part from my reply did I say “I like GW2 and will support it all the way”? By refuting you? Those aren’t mutually exclusive you know. What I merely did was break your case down. Because it’s wrong/incorrect/illogical/unfair and unnecessary. What I did with your arguments has nothing to do with my feelings for the game.

To OP,
————Let me ask you this OP,
Who sold more copies; Guild Wars 1 or Guild Wars 2?
Obviously
Guild Wars1> 6 million copies
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guild_Wars_http://video-games.findthebest.com/q/396/2744/How-many-copies-of-Guild-Wars-the-video-game-were-sold
GW1 lasted for 7 years, GW2 is barely a year. So of course gw1 will sell more than gw2. Read the article “Total sales”, which means sales from day 1 until the current time that article was posted.
Lett me ask you this OP,
How much percentage of sales did Guild Wars 2 lose since release?
Obviously
“both North America and Europe dropped dramatically, from 25% to 13% and 18% to 8% respectively”
http://www.vg247.com/2013/05/13/ncsoft-q1-guild-wars-2-sales-flatten-but-profits-up/
All games experience a dip after their release. This is expected and even GW1 had this. You can’t say obviously it’s GW2 without providing the data from GW1 to show that GW1 did NOT drop in sales at some point in time.
Let me ask you this Op
Who won more Awards, Guild Wars 1 or Guild Wars 2?
Obviosuly
Guild Wars 1> 21 Awards
http://www.guildwars.com/events/press/awards/Guild wars 2> 8 Awards
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/media/awards/
Obviously A number of those awards were awarded in 2005. Some were in 2006. And even then, not all were awarded during the same time. Some were awarded in July 2005, August 2006, some were in May 2006. Yep, totally fair to compare a game not even out for a year with a game that has received multiple awards in two different years now.
Let me ask you this OP
Are we the community “Haters” OP?
Obviously
Not
So, yea… really?
So on one camp, we have people saying pve is too easy, and mobs provide no challenge. On this camp, we have people saying mob’s skills are too OP, and we should nerf them =/ While it may indeed be true that mobs do a lot of knockbacks/knockdowns, anet gave each class the ability to handle those situations, and I believe it is up to the players to find out what those solutions are. The poster above me already gave good suggestions.
New oil skill: Boiling acid – damages enemies’ life and armor. mwahahaha
I should record myself destroying people wearing all rares.
Maybe you should record people you fight who are only wearing full exotic vs wearing full ascended gear.
o wait…
Thank you for the responses. Please note that this is an honest question. Actually, the first answer indeed makes a lot of sense.
How many of you were royally screwed by the anti-stealth traps? I’m talking about changes to your daily/usual wvw habits. Have they really shut you down? Are they a simple nuisance that can be dealt with? Are they as rampant as you’ve imagined? Or are they pretty rare and hardly noticeable?
Something as simple as “hey guys, what does d/d or p/p mean?” in LA will net you a quick answer.
How did you ever get 252% MF?? :O highest I can think of is only 162%~
I UC by a large amount for 2 reasons
1. to sell my item faster
2. to help drive prices down.
It doesnt matter if I lose 1-2s by doing that. What is 1-2s to me? nothing, But im hoping it helps drive prices down, to help the other people to get access to those goods.
I did not know I was going to get jack…
This is your first mistake right here…
I’ve heard people say they would, but I distinctly remember that they wouldn’t be rewarding laurels retroactively.
Been Gone for a while and thinking of coming back.
Hows the game these days?
How is the state of the necro?I just came back myself…I know I will be flamed for this but it is my honest opinion…
Stay away man, right now it isn’t worth the hard drive space…The world was empty (Even had my friends on the populated servers look too) they put in a grind link system and it just seems like a mess…
All the problems I and many others complained about are still there for the most part…
ok whiteknights you can flame me now…
grind link system?
use a stun breaker and most mosters with knockbacks are really animated/telegraphed so you can dodge/walk your way out of the knockback.
Not so when facing multiples of them, you may dodge one or 2 but it will only be a splt second before more come in and how many times can you use your stun breaker and then have to wait for cooldown?
It’s not as simple as you make it sound to be.
May I know what mob this is? Even if you’re facing multiples of them, you still should be able to kite, dodge, and stunbreak their knockbacks/knockdowns. Try practicing on the group of ettins (i forgot the place x.x somewhere in kryta iirc). I can usually take on 2-3 mobs with knockback with my lowbie, but you do need to keep on moving, going around in circles, etc.
Also, not all mobs have knockbacks. In fact, maybe a few handful of them only have it. For all the species of branded/inquest/bandit/separatist/flame legion, only 1 out of the 4-5 different types do the knockback.

Can we upgrade the kit effects when equipped with the legendary? I mean not just for grenade barrage, but big-ol-bomb, healing mist and the throw wrench skill? big-ol-bomb is pretty easy. either make a mushroom-cloud nuke-style for pred, and a jack-in-the-box style for quip. :p
Dude I already sunburnt my face.
Lol. California beaches are awesome. I had a mean In N’ Out Burger today.I hope THIS motivates the match up!
Ps – I was teasing about the double teaming. I fully expected FA to jump on some payback after our first week up. I love FA and TC. Fighting the both of you, especially this last reset was fun. We saw, QQ, RET, HOPE, GODS.
I’m sure you guys remember us ^^
OMG SEND SOME OVER HERE!!!
Well, I’ve seen him die a couple of times. Although he has killed our yak more times than I can count >< /shakesfistangrilyintheair Curse you DB general!
dude, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. <3 I can now here my quip again!
Awesome night in TCBL. Thanks Coral for all the fun at Water Camp.
Aw thanks, <3 Cute glasses.
edit: I hope hills gets a wp despite the merchants. WTF, merchants? Really? Spy-Kitten right there.
we have wp now! for bay as well i think.
