zerk mes runes/sigils?

in Mesmer

Posted by: penatbater.4710

Hey I just made a new zerk mesmer and so far I’m having a blast in wvw. (I play my mes almost wvw exclusively. I’ve yet to try him on pve). Anyways, I bought all my zerk stuff using cof items. I wanna know what runes/sigils work well with a full zerker mes.

Two rune sets I’m contemplating now are runes of vampirism and runes of melandru. The vamp helps me stay a bit longer in fights as well as an automatic “get out quick” bonus in the rune set, while melandru is more for anti-conditions. My typical set-up with my mes is the normal heal skill (with clones thingy, idk the name), portal, either mantra of stability thingy or decoy (basically, this is my flex uitlity slot) and last is blink. My elite is usually TW or mass invi.

I’m considering melandru because from what you’ve seen, I have 0 condi removal. I can put there arcane thievery or null field, but its not as consistent as I want it to be (I kinda wish I have my elixer remove-all-condi from eng but that’d be too imba haha). That with the -40% condi duration food buff will really help me not bother with conditions that much. I can handle stuns well due to blink (and usually decoy as another stun breaker) but immobilize really kills me =/

For sigils, with the whole vamp thing I might consider sigil of blood both on my GS and sword, and sigil of endurance on my focus.

Any recommendations?

rune and sigil interaction

If, say I have a rune of vampirism which grants me chance to lifesteal as well as guaranteed lifesteal after heal, I know both of them share the internal cd of 15sec (right?). But if I also have a sigil of blood, does it share a cd with my life-stealing rune set?

EDIT: another question. How do all of those interact with life-stealing food?

From the news in the other thread, it seems flame and frost will culminate in a new dungeon, and i doubt they’ll remove that. I think anet builds up on these stories so I while the building up to frost and flame might be a limited-time deal, the end result might not be so. but to be fair, we don’t have all the facts atm.

The knowledge that this expectation is unrealistic does not, unfortunately, make it any less boring.

It should, however, lead you to conclude that the problem and solution are both on your end of the equation, not arenanet’s.

take a break, come back in a few months.

Truth, but I really wanted to avoid making a “and thanks for all the fish” post.

Why make that kind of post? If you’re bored, simply take a break, or quit the game. When you feel like playing again, play again. If the feeling doesn’t come back, well, I hope you felt you got your money’s worth out of the game :p

Dungeons are a great way to earn money, albeit a bit slower than normal. Not just cof but other dungeons esp TA and CoE as they have chances to drop lodestones and cores which you can sell. Not just that, you get tokens which you can use to outfit yourself or your alts so you don’t need to spend as much. This is how I outfitted my guard, and how I will outfit future alts (barring clerics though, coz there’s no dungeon with that prefix).

The reason why they can’t really amp up the difficulty while at the same time giving ridiculous rewards is that it’s not sustainable. For example, making a pve content where only 0.05% of the total population can complete, excluding a time-gate thing, where the reward is a guaranteed precursor, or a stack of ectos. the problem here is that once those 0.05% people finish it, they repeat it and run it so often that in floods the market with those rewards and diminish the overall value of loot. so let’s say there are 3m players overall, worldwide. 0.05% of that is 1,500 players. That’s 1,500 precursors that come into the market every week at best.

Give BRazilians their own server

When I bought Gw2 Anet stated that only NA and maybe Euro players would be able to play on the “American” servers.

You guys went against your word and opened the servers up to other countries.

Lets recap on what happened to the League of Legends community upon opening their servers to Brazilians. The community went downhill and players were not able to properly communicate with each other.

Please give Brazilians their own servers, but allow them to play in the NA region for WvW.
They have delays on the NA server making them semi handicap in WvW.

so… they made an international game where only the people from two continents can play? :| Doesn’t make sense to me. And before brazilians get their own server, I demand an asia/oceanic one, for, you know, the other majority of people on the other side of the world. =/

and the problem with the lol thing is that riot rushed in giving them their own server, which turned out to be worse than connecting to the NA servers. But I think the issue has been fixed for some time now.

My point is, Arenanet used a whole lot of phrases to lure us into the game, since it’s no subscription we’ve already paid what they wanted, all they need us to do is buy the expansions and hope it’s been made into what we wanted it to be.

Dynamic events are pointless since Karma is used for nothing but a bad gem box and one armour set with limited stats, even WvW tokens give a wider variety. They basically sold the game on Dynamic Events and they don’t let us do anything with it’s reward, it’s completely pointless to do dynamic events unless you’re leveling a alternative character, now people just want the dragons and other chest bosses, if they actually made the karma points viable people would get back out in the world that they spent so much time trying to ram down our throats in the manifesto and other pre game videos.

My whole point of this is that they drew us in with all these lovely dovie ideas and functions but didn’t actually do anything with it.

I admit they did a lot of great PR work there, and while reading/listening to the interviews I thought it was too good to be true. When I started playing the game, I understood the limitations, and I fully understand and accept them. I can’t expect GW2 to be a game like ME or DA series where there are multiple paths to choose from yet still be an MMO. I do, however, like their attempt and support them by buying the game.

And this wouldn’t be the first time some advertising overhyped the product. Mcdonalds anyone?

you can add a max of 10 levels with crafting. But if you’re not up to crafting, doing map completion rewards great exp and items. It takes a bit of time though. Doing wvw may also be faster, but it depends if you’re with a capping group. taking objectives rewards higher exp than defending.

Please Explain the Logic of the AoE Limit

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penatbater.4710

penatbater.4710

I’m not trying to be obstinate here, but that’s not really proof. EVERY action that requires a client-server interaction requires server bandwidth. Keeping track of a condition stack should require much less bandwidth/processing power than player positioning or positioning and impact of AoE skills.

Second, if that is really the case, then they’re not thinking laterally about the problem, but linearly, which for programmers is odd. Rather than have, say bleed capable of reaching infinite stacks, simply allow a separate 25 bleed stack per player. Each player only sees the damage ticks from their own skills, so that’s not a problem. Communication via the UI might need some changing (i.e. a player’s unique condition stacks might need to be purple or green to differentiate) but nothing too demanding, and allows condition specced professions to play with each other.

Usually, in programming there’s always a KISS method available, the condition issue of excluding player builds obviously doesn’t follow it, and the AoE issue we’ve been rambling on and on for 8 pages now is again “solved” by an artificial solution that doesn’t make logical or even common sense to anyone, given the gameplay inherent in the rest of the game.

And I hate to say it, but the idea that tracking conditions involves some sort of geometric scale increase on server load sounds like a really flaky excuse for poor game design.

I think the reason conditions work differently than direct damage is that conditions track who applied it over a period of time such that any changes made by that player must have the corresponding change to the condition applied. (kinda how applying conditions then getting might suddenly increases the applied condition’s damage). So until the condition duration is over, there is that connection between the applier and the applyee(?). When you multiply multiple conditions applied by multiple people to multiple targets with differing condition duration and condition damage, I think it piles up. With direct damage, I think there’s only 1 single exchange instance for each damage dealt. there is no need to form that connection between the damager and the damagee.

Depends on your profession. If you are a ranger or engineer and you play PvE, delete your character.

If you are a necro or thief, play PvP.

For the rest, berzerker.

hhahaha- my Engi at 90 is my favourite and I’m leveling a ranger :P
OP depends on your profession and playstyle.
My main mesmer runs GS/Staff in full Carrion gear
My engi runs Rampagers gear and sigils of bloodlust on pistols
my Ranger is only level 40 so I’m undecided

Your eng is way too OP. My eng only goes up to 80 :p Honestly, play what you like. Because even if you’re playing in the most efficient manner (zerker), if you’re not enjoying, it really isn’t worth it.

Good investments would be t3 cultural armor (if you like the skin). But that’s my opinion only :p

zerker gear is only useful assuming you know how to play the encounters. To say that zerker > everything is assuming that you know how to pve/pvp masterfully. I’ve seen people in zerker gear drop like flies in cof1 (which, you know, actually reduces overall dps since we waste 2 people to get him up [him and another to res]), and i’ve seen zerker people own in wvw. zerker gear rewards people for playing the best that they can, and punishes heavily if they suck at it. In the same manner, defensive gear are more forgiving if you fail, but less rewarding if you’re good at the game. Seems like a fair trade-off to me.

People fail to assume that just because one or everyone in the party is in zerker gear, they only need to 100b the mob once to kill it. A lot of mobs are not like this, especially boss encounters. The prob is cof1 is such a faceroll that the skill cap for players is very low and zerkers are indeed the most efficient. In a lot of other dungeons (AC, TA, CM for instance, where a lot of mobs have knockbacks, takedowns, aoe damage) it is very hard to pull off a full zerker party.

Not necessarily hard. See my friend has a warrior in all zerker gear and my Ele is trained for max healing and has all apothecary gear with healing accessories and I can spam water heals on him and each splash is about 500 healing and the big heal can heal a ton so he can almost sit on a boss and dps and never go down.

Of course my drops if any are horrible with healing gear but zerker gear is always the best.

The question is, can you sustain the same party momentum (not necessarily healing him per se) with you in zerker gear as well? I’m sure you can. But the difference in ease will probably be evident, and one’s personal skill (and group skill for that matter) will be more fleshed out.

You’re going to laugh but with the way loot is given in this game there is just no reason reward wise to play in any other gear except zerker gear. That is just my opinion and I have played support which I prefer but there is no point in playing support unless you’re in wvw, a guild run or spvp.

Another thing about support is it makes the dungeon run take so much longer with how bad the dungeon mobs are set up in this game and the health pools. One person running support is just going to slow the group down and people are going to get one shot by a boss anyway. This is of course what Anet wants because slowing down rewards equals more gem purchases.

afaik you only need to deal a certain threshold of damage per mob to be eligible for loot. Even on my support guard, I can dish out enough damage for me to be able to loot. And let’s face it, most loot from mobs is trash anyway. And support only makes the dungeon longer only if everyone knows the dungeon like the back of their hand, know the mechanics, when to dodge, activate utilities, etc. If you’re still learning, having a support-oriented playstyle might be better. Once you “graduate” from a dungeon/encounter (like most people with the old ac), you can opt for a zerker build to increase efficiency.

I’d actually reckon there’s no reason not to run full damage in wvw and spvp, mainly coz wvw is a zergfest anyway, and spvp (not tpvp) boils down to two basic builds: damage (whether direct damage or condi damage) and bunkers.

In my opinion GW2 early days ware as it was advertised the game was a blast, it had erorrs some of the events ware broken but it didnt detracted from the fun.
and then came the lost shores update and the ascended gear that created a huge rift in the player base a rift that hadn’t been mended till today. I thought that fractals will be a wonderful dungeon but in reality it wasn’t better then vexa’s lab, this dungeon is a grind fiesta. here the real grind started, Anet promised different ways to get the ascended gear ways that doesn’t involve the fractals, we got the laurels that requires the daily grind and the monthly grind, wait didn’t Anet advertised that this game will not have grind? so why do i need to kill all of those enemies without any reason?
the dailys and monthlies stopped my event search, thy became a part of the grind not something i do for fun. the spawning rate in this game is insane in the manifesto thy said that the player actions will count but the enemies i kill respawn 90-230 sec later sometimes instantly, events i finish reset 5 min later yup my deeds count (for nothing).
i dont mind the cursed shores art but i mind the amount of enemies and cc few days ago i tried to reach arah waypoint i tried to avoid combat and tossed back and forth, later i tried to fight but couldn’t fight the respawn speed, fun times maybe i need to change my perception of fun. The lower level areas feels a lot more polished then the higher level areas, even the sylvari land feels better then arah.

In my opinion some of the game greatest defenders are Anet employees without the Anet tag.

Yep I tend to agree with you about the employee defender part. I’ve seen it in forums on other mmos and it really doesn’t make sense why someone who loves a game so much they would spend time arguing with people on the forums just because the person being critical has the opinion the game could be better instead of spending that time playing.

The only logical reason I can come up with is some are employed and defending the company they work for. Any good employee would do that but the only thing the critical posters have to gain is having their opinions and frustrations heard in hopes they can improve the game for themselves and like minded players.

First, I was under the impression that there would no be gated grind, grind that you have to do to access other content. Which, I guess, is true. Also, I do hope that the game does improve. But surely there must be a line where not everything critical posters will materialize (in the same manner that nothing the community says reach the devs). On one hand, I felt the devs caved in to the people who cried that there’s nothing left to do in forums. On the other hand, I felt they really did plan for ascended gear but just couldn’t ship it out at the start.

I think the reason that many Gw1 players were upset was because the way Anet advertised this game was kind of…misleading. Sure we have dynamic events, but its still kill x enemy, or find x amount of item.

And then there is this little clip…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=35BPhT-KI1E#t=43s

I don’t believe anything that made Gw1 an amazing success (besides the lore) made it into the game. They are two different games entirely.

I like the dynamic event system. It was cool and innovative, though they could have gone a lot further with how they designed the events. The no sub fee is a huge feature this game has going for it.

They can make this the best mmo of all time if they keep developing it and play the game as it’s developed while listening to ALL of the community.

They really need a pts server or in game surveys to find out what the players think and want. They can do these because they did it in beta.

This is utter tripe. They can NOT make the best MMO of all time if they listen to ALL of the community, because the community is divided. One group says make the open world harder, one group says keep it the same. Which group do you listen to? Some guys say they want more complexity in the skills and builds, some guys don’t want that. They want to run around and kill stuff. Who do you listen to?

And there have been times when Anet has listened to the people, and made the big world events “more rewarding”. All that’s led to is really boring and bad world events. That’s what Anet gets for listening to the people.

Most people didn’t complain about the difficult of the world events before they were camped so hard they made overflow servers.

Listening to the players assumes most players would know what makes a good game. And it would also presuppose all players want the same things.

If Anet hadn’t listened to the players, we wouldn’t have ascended gear in the form it is today.

Is tripe a word you use in the outback?

Oh and if I was Anet I would probably listen to anyone except for people who defend the game in every thread. See if the game was as wonderful as the fanboys suggest they’d be playing it and not browsing the forums.

PS please keep posting Vayne your insults and comments are a lot more interesting than the game is atm.

I intend to keep posting. Tripe is just a word that isn’t used very much any more. Problem with being old. Sorry about that.

If Anet listened to everyone but fan boys, you guys STILL disagree on stuff. It’s not like those who don’t like the game as it is would all end up agreeing on what it should be. If you think that’s the case…you’d very likely be wrong.

But that’s irrelevant because you use the word fan boy to dismiss other people’s opinions as if they’re not entitled to them. Which is okay, I suppose.

I guess only the opinions of people who dislike stuff matter. The opinions of people who like stuff is just wrong.

Good thinking on your part.

To be honest Vayne I actually wonder if you really play this game. You do write guides about it correct?

He has around 5-6k achievement points, so yea, he plays the game… alot! :p

I try to like WvW, but it’s just too pointless. The combat system is absolutely awful. Taking out trinity made this game a pile of shallow trash. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. The game is basically a skin grind. I’m sitting in WvW saying to myself, this zerg of players doesnt need me at all. Without the roles and tightness that brings to combat, everyone just mobs up and zergs the kitten out of everything. I really have no idea why i still log in. This game has fundamental design flaws that just arent going to get fixed. I can’t even explain, but the gameplay is just too shallow, leave it at that. Wish they had some integrity not to turn my favorite online game (GW1) into a steaming pile of average joe trash for the dumbo masses. Hope the cash shop sales have been worth all the disappointed fans that basically GAVE you the wherewithall to fund this dung heap. This game is trash.

Many agree with you trust me.

And many don’t. See how easy this is.

They are just people who wanted Guild Wars 2 to be Guild Wars 1 with better graphics. They will get over it, or go back to their awesome GW1.

I never played GW1 but I have heard it’s much better in every way except the graphics in GW2.

And I’ve heard from others who didn’t like Guild Wars 1 at all and like Guild Wars 2. I actually like them both. Both have upsides and downsides, much like any other game.

But then you have guys like Clay who say Guild Wars 1 was much better at launch and then died, and I’ve heard many other people say the game got better as it went on.

That’s why it’s called an opinion.

Or when you don’t agree with it you call it tripe ;-)

Looks like the post has been deleted, because I can’t find it. But I don’t use that word without reason.

but but but… tripe is a part of a cow/pig. So someone is a piece of meat?

I find zerker gear boring. I want to be a meaty warrior who deals good damage and laughs in the face of my enemies.

PVT is the way to go. But even with that you still get one shots in places. GW2 has a lot of cheap moments.

Sometimes I think this game would be better if they just removed all the stats and made into a pure action game. If stacking PVT with soliders or dolyak doesn’t let hold off damage then what’s the point of even having it?

I believe this is why people end up just running zerker. You get one shotted either way so you might as well try to one shot right back.

As an engineer with full knights, I can eat a 100b to the face and still walk away with a enough health to escape.

I repeatedly soloed fractal trash mobs until I got a vial to drop, which all things considered was the hardest part since it’s the one thing that can’t be bought or earned.

Don’t vials drop starting level 1? o.o

hmm. I simply want GW2 to add things that me and my mates can continue to do to make our characters better – better looking, better playing, more powerful. What’s wrong with that? Nothing I say.

Getting rewarded for doing things and achieving greater things above and beyond what others may do is part of the human spirit.

Inherantly, there is nothing really wrong with that. Everyone wants progress on some level. But when you take into consideration one specific viewpoint as you apply it to the entire population, you now see problems arising, and it is these problems that one must be careful and take into consideration.

For example, changing one aspect of the game might be more rewarding to you, but it might screw with 90% of the population. Once you have this macroperspective viewpoint of your opinions and its impact to the community, you get to make better reasons/arguments for/against the game.

I don’t understand. 250 ancient bone, 50 globs, 240 philo stone and 1 vial. What’s so… hard about that? I mean, compared to the other MF ascended backpieces.

@ryuujin
Because the backpacks are part of the skills, utility skills to be more precise. And those weapons are unique only for the engineer. But bows are used by rangers, thieves and warriors. So how come rangers should get quivers and not the other 2 classes?

This is where we see people’s narcisism most rampant. Because if they REALLY wanted to give suggestions/comments to the devs, they would send it directly to them, and not through the forums. Because the anet employees who read the forums are usually the moderators (and john smith) and not the devs themselves. Why do you think when you find a bug, they ask to report it directly to them and not via forums?

This week, when ANet released more unrelated trivia in the upgrade to SAB, I got livid. I paid 80 bucks for a special addition of a game in 2013 and now they spend their work time re-creating a flat-dimension game from the 1990’s.

Setting aside your misconception of “their work”, you seem to be implying that they should only work on content you like. There are more people than yourself playing Guild Wars 2. And believe it or not, not all of them like the same sort of stuff. ArenaNet is well within their right to work on aspects of the game that others enjoy, even if you do not.

I bought a product with years of advertising provided on a website, which purchase I based upon that advertising. In my opinion the product is no longer what they advertised in their lengthy presentation of what it would be. That, and the fact that my purchasing gems from their store supports the work they do, is the justification I claim for an opinion of the matter of their work ethic. When the work they do is not sufficient in my opinion, the best thing for me to do is stop supporting it. For that reason it is only fair I give them my opinion which they can use or throw away as they wish. (In other words, I was talking more to the developers of this game than to you or any other reader or writer of this forum, except to the person who began the thread who I wished to support.)

If I, and others who share my opinion, do not express our opinions, the developers might think we haven’t noticed they are re-vamping somebody else’s work instead of doing their own.

My opinion is not alone, as you can see in this thread… not only are their many who love to reminisce, there are many who would like to have the game they thought they were purchasing and would like to look ahead instead of back. It is my hope that enough people will express their opinions. Perhaps my opinion is in the majority and the developers will not be able to ignore it. To others who may fear being attacked in forum I ask you please to express it anyway. Let’s make a majority.

My best expression will be to stop buying gems, which I have done. And begin playing other games, which I am also doing. I will take what I like from the game, until I no longer like anything about it. Until then I will totally leave the support of “their work” to other employers.

And I will speak my mind whether you like it or not.

If you really feel justified in your opinions, send an email to them instead like this guy. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/HELP-SUPPORT-THIS-GAME

Posting on forums is often useless if you really wanna see a change in the game. But if all you want is attention…

I was under the impression that gw2 had its own trinity: the damage, support and control. But what sets it apart is that you dont’ NEED the actual trinity to complete content.

Dungeon Build for non-80??

Honestly, I prefer bomb kit as a power build than condi since the only relevant conditions in bomb kit is fire (which stacks duration ~_~) and confusion (which is terrible against mobs). bomb AA also has the highest power ratio for any auto-attack in engineer skills. But you know, if you run at least 20 traits in the explosive line, you can get the bleeds on 15% of the time and burns on 33% of crits to give more oomph to your condi damage.

EG’s AA in terms of power damage really is low. But its bleed is pretty nice and the added debuff is always a plus. (I just think that pistol AA is faster than EG. You should run some tests whether pistol AA or EG AA is best for stacking bleeds :p)

Normally i would agree, but i’ve been trolling with the D/P build. burst last 1/2s and you get a Heart-Seeker, Back stab and steal within 1/2 second which is enough to drop any light/med armor, and if they survive they can heart-seek/backstab every 4s with literally no down time.

And 100nades was lethal not because of the build but because of the player, if the build was as strong as an easy to play as people claim, why weren’t there hundreds of people running it on PvP? in the hands of a good players. anything can be lethal

Where were you when this was hot? There were hundreds of engies almost ALL in 100nade build. But the problem is that it has a reaaaaaaaaaaally steep learning curve and it is very hard to execute it properly (as what has already been mentioned). However, it greatly rewards players who practice and execute it perfectly. It’s kinda like the d/d ele. If you suck at it, you’re gonna have a bad time. But if you perfect it, you can beat any class hands down (refers to the video somewhere about 2 d/d eles taking on ~10 people, killing some of them, and surviving).

That is correct..the term/issue is ‘limited’.

I re-subbed to WoW while still doing GW2 to see MoP and how it was.

I still prefer GW2 world and graphics, but overall WoW still has the better fight and PvP mechanics and overall ‘customization’

What bugs me about GW2 is that the lack of combat ‘style’ on your toon. Having 5 attacks and then a few more extra things to do honestly isn’t enough diversity. Going back, I definitely liked the new talent trees and picking my ‘style’ for my Warrior. On top of that, having 15 or so buttons to use during combat is a lot better then 5-7.

I have an engineer main in GW2 and it is absolutely BORING doing fights. It’s honestly monotonous. It makes me not want to play the game.

I think GW2 needs to up the number of buttons from 10 to 15 at least. I’d like to see them add some trinket/effect buttons and also maybe 2 more unique abilities that you can choose to use in combat. I don’t like how my weapon determines for example that I can charge. Charge should be a baseline ability of a Warrior.

I love the armors, but honestly they need a little more to them…a little more ‘style’.

The fighting animations need improved. I feel like characters ‘skate’ over combat and please for the love of god fix the Warrior whirlwind..looks really stupid.

No.. just, no. I’ve seen some screenshots of wow mods and its ridiculous as to the amount of buttons and keys you have on screen. It may be a synch for vet players but it easily daunts new players. I tried to play wow, and the normal hotkey bars were enough for me. I find the notion that you NEED mods to play a game more effectively ridiculous.

Dungeon Build for non-80??

ahhh interesting. I have a friend who works a similar play style. He ping-pongs in and out of melee range using a variety of tools like rocket jump and acid bomb. Also don’t underestimate EG. Since you’re a condi build, note that the bleed from EG lasts way longer than the bleed from pistols so if youre stacking bleeds, EG might be the way to go. And EG has a ton of utility. You may not realize it but weakness is an incredibly powerful condi (along with blind) that people overlook. You can use EG2 to kite, and ofc EG3 to remove mass condi on your allies. I didn’t spend as much time on EG as I’d like (coz at that time I was still in love with bombs and the tank engineer) but I’d reckon you use EG4 to go out of range quick. It’s way better than overcharged shot in terms of getting out.

P/S is a great step. Your survivability will greatly increase with a shield. Just remember the shield has 4 skills in two keys so you need to know when to use them. If you want, you can do the annoying knockbacking style that runs bomb kit, flamethrower and p/s. You’ll have 3 knockbacks you can shuffle around with which will greatly help “control” the mobs. But the bad part is your party mates usually won’t like you knocking out their targets (so I kinda left bomb kit behind when I run dungeons).

Even if they changed cof1, people will find the next easiest content to earn money. Maybe in this case, one of the SE paths (the one where you only kill 3 or 5 mobs total per run?) or one of the CoE paths. Or maybe even HotW.
