Are you sure you didn’t just end up in a different instance?
Aye, was definitely same megaserver shard as all the people I was surrounded with on the first character were still there when I switched, including several guildies.
HI,
Today I placed a heroes banner for everyone in Divinity’s Reach, then when I swapped characters, it was gone. I don’t know if this is intended or not though. But it’s not fair either way, since the banner costs Guild Commendations and is not fair for other players who I placed the banner for.
Any chance of a fix if it’s a bug?
Update: After nearly 3 months this is still happening. It’s not just hero banners, I’ve noticed Gold banners are doing this too, and have a blue outline since the patch that caused this 3 months ago, instead of green, as if in party. Please fix this as it’s a waste of resources for most players who spawn them!

Bloodstone Fen is my favorite map, but...

I’d be fine if the stupid rocks had a realistic range limit instead of 50,000m. Seriously wtf kind of upper body workout do those white mantle knights have.
They were given Bloodstone strength, perhaps?
Well I just deleted my elementalist which had full commander’s armor with ascended celestial trinkets. . . I had only just gotten my last gear piece the night before the patch as well, and had been working very VERY hard on my elementalist to get all of that stuff. I’ve never been this stressed out from a video game patch before, Hundred of hours wasted on a toon that I end up deleting because of it’s newfound uselessness.. . . This patch was utterly violating for elementalist players. There is no role for us in spvp anymore. Ele is probably not going to be used whatsoever in spvp. You guys might as well delete the class. : (
Sorry but I just don’t believe you.
I added some criticisms earlier, but I think it’s only fair to add some positive feedback too.
What I liked:
Salvage Kits
Adding the right click option was golden! Thank you for that.
New Emotes
New emotes are always nice. Every time I see a thread saying “We need more emotes” I’ve always been cynical and said ArenaNet have bigger fish to fry, and never expected new ones to ever come. But, you still did it! And being in [Wine] on Piken, we love standing AFK from time to time, in a line in Divinity’s Reach and the /crossarms is perfect for us!
Rubi B visiting the EU servers just before patch update
Ok, so not part of the patch, but it was nice seeing a dev visit us for once. More of this please! She even replied to me saying /say chat turned into twitch.tv chat after she got flooded with questions upon questions – I guess us EU players aren’t used to the visits the NA might have.
Living World Season 3
I’ve only done the first two chapters so far, to make it last me. But my! I love how you added the playable character’s voice in it like with HoT. Makes it much more immersive, and I actually walked instead of ran through chapter one! Can’t wait to see more.
The New Map
Don’t want to give anything away, but I will say that as a 3D map, you got it just right. It’s not like the other 3D orientated maps that slows down your FPS and stuff, like Verdant brink, The Grove and Rata Sum (especially if you’re a Mac Beta customer). If you do more new maps that have verticality, base them off this one!
Thank you for a wonderful new update. This truly is ArenaNet back on form for me.
Just two criticisms from me:
Thief
Now that [Venomous Aura] isn’t in Shadow Arts anymore and is in the base attack of venoms, it leaves [Leeching Venoms] the only condition trait in Shadow Arts, and doesn’t make sense to be in there on its own.
I think [Leeching Venoms] would be better suited now in Deadly Arts, and swap it with [Revealed Training] which is extra power on reveal, put that in Shadow Arts as it’s a trait linked to stealth.
Monument Decorations
Can we please have a female statue as well? I wanted to plant a statue to commemorate a female player who is currently on leave of the game, but it doesn’t make sense that a big, huge built male is the statue saying when you press F “To commemorate [Female Name]”
To ArenaNet for extra emotes that we wanted but weren’t expecting:
/thanks
Actually, the changes have also caused a problem for condi-thieves, since now in shadow arts there’s only one trait left for conditions, which is Leeching Venoms (for health steal and reduced Venom cool down).
If I want to have a conditions thief, Deadly Arts & Daredevil are the obvious way to go for two lines, but condition traits are split between Shadow Arts & Trickery now. Never understood why venom traits were moved to Shadow Arts to begin with, to be honest.
They have [Revealed Training] in deadly arts, which would make much more sense in Shadow Arts, and vice versa for [Leeching Venoms]. A swap would make making a condi thief easier.
Can we please get a working Mac Client [Merged]

Update on the recent AMA on reddit:
“Currently we can patch, run around in several maps, we don’t fall through the floor anymore. It is progressing and we will let you guys know when we’re ready to go into beta.”
So – yay!
It’s usually at about:
16:00-17:00 London Time, or
17:00-18:00 Copenhagen Time, or
11:00-12:00 New York Time, or
08:00-09:00 Los Angeles Time.
Bigger patches have been known to have delays of anywhere up to 00:00-01:00 London Time.
New PvP map coming tomorrow as well – Revenge of the Capricorn.
Same reason why the search function doesn’t work I assume – ArenaNet hired a third party to cover the creation of the forums and I think that company is no longer around.
Gift of Battle takes a couple of days to a week to acquire with this new system. That’s nothing compared to how long it takes to acquire other materials. I remember when I started on my first legendary weapon. I had to do WvW for the badges as well as the Gift of Exploration back then. At least you don’t need to map WvW anymore.
Well, at least that’s sorted then.
Just make a ranger and charm all the pets.
Make it special by acquiring it from hunting exceptional kind of monsters egg, hatch it with distinct tools, gems or element and wait for a few hours depending on what type of mount it is;
We can hatch this egg in a microwave too, like a certain other game?
Sorry. No mounts please! >.<
Killing stuff in PvE too quickly will get very boring quickly. It’s not need sorry.
Forum bug is buggy.
Can always farm IRL money and use your credit/debit card. That’s always an option, I’m sure ArenaNet won’t mind!
oh please. this game is not made for imaginary races, it is made for US human players. when I mean “sexy” I mean sexy for US human players. female norns are sexy for US human players, norn males, to US human players are DEFORMED and NOT sexy.
Again, this is not about whatever lore reasons the artists have for making them that way, this is to point that giving sexy options just to females is NOT FAIR to US human players. you can make male norns have big bodies and not be deformed and they would have been 1) more in tune with their female counterparts and 2) giving male characters the OPTION to be both sexy or tough.
I assume you mean the word ‘us’ and not US, because I’m from the UK myself.
But I disagree with your opinion. Female Norn might be sexy for you personally, but please don’t generalise the rest of us in a way that makes us all want to have characters be defined as ‘sexy’. I play the game to have fun in an immersive world, not to judge a beauty contest or catwalk. And you’re going a little over the top now with the ‘its not fair on male Norn’ argument now. Just because you don’t like how they’re shaped, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. There isn’t anything wrong with the shape of the male Norn, only to you it seems.
I’m sure somewhere there actually are epilepsy warnings when signing up to the game, as well as the ‘Take a 15 minute break for every hour of gameplay’.
It’s not called out specifically as they just generically bring up the subject.
You warrant and represent that You have no economic, physical, emotional, psychological, or privacy related considerations that would be adversely impacted by Your use of the Game.
Thank you, this is most helpful as I was too lazy to go through the whole EULA to find it.

again, if they are not just tall humans why do norn women look basically like tall women? They are just a tiny bit bulkier, but they have none of the weird male norn proportions (really short legs, huge arms, tiny head, huge flabby chest)
Testosterone?
testorterone doesn’t shrink your legs or head though…
it’s just a design decision.
I’m just fed up with games always trying to make beautiful women and monstruous males for a same race. in GW2 they did it right with Charr and Asura, but completely missed the mark with norns…
Testosterone doesn’t shrink my legs or a human’s legs. But we’re not talking about humans or me though, are we? You’re asking for a scientific explanation of why a Norn is built the way he is – the simple answer is that’s how Norn males work. Their physiology is how it is, and that’s all we can say on the matter.
There is no Charles Darwin in Tyria.

There’s nothing wrong with the Norn physiology – that’s just how they are, in the lore. Norn are Norn, not tall humans.
Yeah submit a ticket and see if they’ll offer you the difference as a refund. I would suggest though that you stay calm if you want the result, rather than say you’re kittened off! This sort of thing can happen in almost any purchase in retail – whether it’s an online game, a pair of shoes or a fridge. Something has to go on sale and it has to go on sale at some date. There’s always a day before a sale it’s full price. ArenaNet doesn’t hate you!
then go the illegal way, buy from some gold seller, problem solved.
I stopped reading after this. Surely you can’t be serious you’re suggesting the OP or whoever to buy from gold sellers, something which is a bannable offence?
Main reason is you don’t like them! There are some heavy pieces I’ve seen for males that are decent, especially the cultural one that Logan wears. I have female heavy human though myself, and in my opinion there are more heavy armour choices for female than there are male for my personal taste.
One thing I would like to add to my list of stuff I want to see that might help Roleplayers is the animations to work again – i.e. at the moment if another player is sat, they are still stood for people who weren’t nearby when the /sit originally happened!
Also, to add to my point about how selectable megaservers might help Roleplayers: It’d help new players more than established roleplayers. Currently myself and Kyra (we know each other both on Piken) have a big friend list so we rarely have trouble. But new roleplayers are struggling to find roleplay at the moment. I think selectable megaservers will help them a great deal, and increase out population if the RP community decides on one shard for the go-to RP shard (if they’re named).
Exactly…I do this same thing.
Would I like the tools to be shared so I could have 3 more shared inv slots available to carry all these darn keys/acids/crowbars/etc? Sure. (Or they could add me a “Key Ring” type of thing like they store our currencies only make it “key-like” items. Then I really wouldn’t care, honestly.)
Can I live with it the way it is? Of course. This is not a “deal-breaker”.
I do hope they are working on making the harvesting tools shared/account slots.
Aye exactly, would be nice to have, but I won’t be sad if they don’t implement it.
I got lucky when I bought that pack and got eight from the chests, with the two that the package gave me. Next pack I had though, I only got two from chests I think (total four). So yeah, that’s pretty lousy luck you got, but probably a rare chance of getting none other than the guaranteed two. Hope you get better luck than that in the future!
I have 24 characters and what I’ve done is buy them each one set of Orichalcum tools, and equip them. My unlimited ones are in the shared inventory slots, and all I have to do is double click each one when I log onto my character, and when I’m about to log off, double click again to re-equip the Orichalcum ones. It was a bit awkward at first, but now I’m in the habit of doing it, it second nature now to do this when switching characters.
On the ‘Waa Waa’ bit – there are people from all aspects of the game that ‘Waa Waa’ from time to time. Not just what you label as ‘PvE players’ – the only label we should all have is ‘GW2 Players’ instead of dividing each other. But I guess that’s a different topic altogether.
100% Map Completion is always my next priority whenever I level a character to level 80. Do you have just the one character? Another idea would be to get one of each class to 80 then 100% Map on each. Depends if you have the stamina for multiple map completions though. I’d probably only get your main character to full ascended though!
If the client is downloading and then crashes, the next time you open the client again it’ll continue to download from where it left off (It’ll starts at 0% again but the number of remaining files will be shorter than last time you opened it). It’s annoying but sometimes that happens.
Just stop making assumptions before you post something – it’s easier than you think!
I’m guilty as charged – though one cannot deny the recent flood of “I want stuff instantly because getting that stuff is boring” threads. Map completion has hardly ever been problem for people until the Level 80 Boost came out.
Another “I levelled my character with Level 80 Booster” thread. Just use your W key – it’s easier than you think!
Central Tyrian Exploration takes longer, but is far easier because you never have to rely on other players to get any of it done. What you’re suggesting is to add another tier of crafting to legendary weapons for the same result, which would be more unnecessary micromanagement.
I thought the Devs said on Reddit that Rangers and Necros are free to afk while their minions kill stuff as long as they don’t have a macro running to resummon them if they die?
No they didn’t quite say that, they said getting loot is ok if the player didn’t do any actions whilst a pet killed a mob. They didn’t say it’s ok to not be at the keyboard for that to happen. A few minutes to go pee pee is ok, but if it’s blatantly AFK farming they ban.
Just illustrates the problem of the emotes being seen too far away, for everyone, no matter what their gaming preferences my be.
I do agree the emote range is too wide. Blocking people because of it (people who might later on offer help if you have a question but you’ll miss it), over emotes that you can turn off or put in a separate chat tab, I don’t agree with. But of course, it’s that player’s prerogative to do so I guess.
Also fixing the range of /em being seen would be nice as well, as it way too large. Putting it as the same range as text I think would fix that and not sure why it has not been done all this time.
This should be done immediately and there is no reason why the range should be as long as it is now. I’m tired of seeing these endless roleplay emote floods while being in totally different part of DR. I have way more roleplayers on my block list than people blocked for real reasons because of this.
You do know if emotes bother you so much, you can turn them off? Me thinks you’re just you block roleplayers just because you don’t like roleplayers. Well, hmmf!
Again, no. It’s boring to you, but not to everyone. It’s subjective. Doing map completion is a big part of what PvE actually is. The hearts especially, that’s the whole reason why your character exists in the first place – to go and help the world. Otherwise from a lore perspective, what’s the point of your character in the first place if they’re not going to actually go anywhere?
If you don’t want to do Map Completion again, fine. But it’s been character bound since Day 1 and I don’t think that will change. After 18 100% characters, I certainly hope it won’t anyway. Threads like this usually are, as I’ve said in others, a symptom of lazy instant-80 levelling.
Piken Square (EU) and Tarnished Coast (NA) is correct. I would recommend also to join guildwars2roleplayers.com if you need help finding RP friends or an RP guild. There’s a directory of characters and RP guilds there.
Like I said there are more roleplayers than people think – that includes people not on guildwars2roleplayers.com and Jaxom’s link means nothing since 7 million certainly includes currently inactive accounts, and probably gold sellers.
I think it’s safe to say considering the amount of Non-Piken roleplayers that I know of, we have about a server full of people who RP either full or part time – they just don’t all RP at the same time.
The Engineer has the following weapon swap options:
1. Equipped Weapon
2. Flamethrower
3. Elixir Gun
4. Mortar
5. Bomb
6. Grenade
7. Med Kit
8. Toolbelt SkillsThis means that based on skill usage, an Engineer can have between 1 and 6 different weapon sets available at a time.
This means that you have the choice to have 50% of the weapon swaps of other classes, or 300% of the weapon swaps of other classes, depending on how you set yourself up.
Added one for you.
I’d never say we are the majority, but we are certainly not a small portion. There are plenty, and plenty to consider for Arenanet.
There were enough roleplayers at launch to completely fill two servers (Tarnished Coast and Piken Square, having been selected by rp’ers as the unofficial rp servers pre launch, became near impossible to get on soon after launch). That’s a good hunk of players, enough to be an important demographic to consider.
Agreed, the roleplaying community is larger than non-roleplayers think. There are also plenty of players whoso PvE/Raids/WvW etc and do RP as a side project, not so often as say a ‘full time’ roleplayer.
Plus – most of the things suggested in this thread would benefit more than just those who roleplay.
I actually agree with OP. Ele and Engi CAN change weapons, out of combat. Which means the only thing they take away from them is convenience. It’s silly. Besides, not every Engi uses kits. I would sell my soul to play a Rifle/Hammer Engi with utilities like Rocket Boots, Ram and Elixir C. Screw the meta, that is my dream build but I can’t get it.
It’s not just about ‘convenience’ – Elementalists and Engineers can swap only when they are not engaged with any enemy. If you allow weapon swap, it’s more than just taking away the inconvenience – you’re also doubling the skill choice against the same enemy. Things would have to be seriously nerfed if Elementalists and Engineers were given weapon swap, and I think that would bring about a lot more uproar than is necessary.
My ideas for roleplay support are as follows:
• Selectable shards.
• Convert clothing tonics to outfits.
• More beards, horns, Asura ears, tattoos etc.
• RP-Based title, such as ‘In Character’.
• Make up for stuff like black eyes, broken noses, cuts to face/body etc. Or perhaps have masks that do this in the style of armour pieces.
As Kyra pointed out, she doesn’t have much trouble with the shards, and usually neither do I. But sometimes there is difficulty determining which is the ‘real’ RP shard when asking a friend for a taxi. With selectable shards (like a drop down menu, perhaps give them a name) we RPers can all say ’let’s always use Shard X for RP’ so no RPer is left behind. Also, it’s kind of embarrassing having to ask for a taxi anyway, whether it’s for RP or PvE.
On my two engineers, which are both level 80 and 100% mapped, I barely use the actual weapons anyway, let alone a second set. The tools, gadgets and turrets do everything I need.
I do not see your point.
If I have e.g. a sunrise, it’s unbound after crafting: I can freely mail it to anyone.
And I mailed items between my two account, they appeared faster than I was able to switch accounts. When I wear the sunrise, it get an account-tag and I can no longer mail it.
The only thing I asked for is to lift this restriction.Anyway, it’s technical simplicity or complicatedness is completely irrelevant here in the forum.
What is relevant here is only: How many would be interested to buy it
If that number is large ANet could make complicated things possible.
If this is just me, even easy things do not worth their effort.
only
That is a pretty big “only”
