the enemies are the objects (Objects from a design PoV, not literally inanimate objects) that interact with both auto attackin and skills from the player.
Just because an enemy object isn’t automatically aggressive doesn’t mean it’s not an enemy.
Though in my experience, tab target seems to be related to distance from the camera, rather than distance from your character with regards to selecting the closest first, which should probably be changed
When ever I open the trading post, the “coherant UI” process starts downloading a heck of a lot of data. Is this normal? does the game not have a cache for things like this? The TP is so bloody laggy and slow as every time I open it, it downloads the same data again and again.
Just reporting same issue. Are they forcing us to do the L20 story chain maybe?
I did the 20 PS, so that can’t be it
hope they remedy this soon. I can’t level any of my alts beyond 29 at the moment
ouch, level 80 and 63k karma. time to ktrain.
Thanks
I love the winged design of the shield used by the seraph. Is there a shield like that in the game that can be equipped and used?
Well, that’s a pity. I had heard this Super Adventure box was cool (youtube vids make it seem like epic fun) sad I won’t be able to experience this
I love signet of the hunt. every other class moves so slow in comparison
Very impressive :O
I tried thief myself (also newish to the game) and found it incredibly tricky to get used to.
In terms of lots of damage, soloing, and whatnot, I absolutely love my ranger, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about elementalists and warriors.
Hope you can find your class, and I hope you manage with the new leveling system which seems to be horribly unpopular with most (myself included)
Welcome to the game, and good luck
Press B – Join your “home” wvw map – Do 5 steps to the left from that waypoint = Trade Post – Log out to character screen and back and you are on the same location as before you joined the home wvw map to use the trade post.
You also can’t interact with TP NPC’s until 17
You may find that different zones and level ranges of the mob will drop different pieces of the collection. It seems like most collections are not designed to be easily farmed
TP NPC’s, champion mobs, juvenile ranger pets, and a bunch of other stuff was removed from 1-15 zones for being too complex for our underdeveloped brains
How fast are arenanet when it comes to emergency patching?
Level 29 is bugged to hell (70exp from eotm objectives and map events, microscopic exp gains from heart quests, and like 2 exp a kill that you can’t even get through it with 0-400 cooking) and this totally breaks the possible progression for new players and old players making alts.
I’m hoping the bug is addressed asap, rather than “at some point next week” when a staff member quoted other bug patches will be deployed. Anyone know if arenanet are good with emergency patching of broken things?
Just watched that video, and pretty much everything he said is exactly how I feel, too. (also as a new play with a little over a week’s experience)
I agree OP. The main thing that should have happened is tutorials to explain these things. Quite a few of us learned from other players how these things worked, and a tutorial area we could access from anywhere would be a very nice way to do it. Sorta like how the tutorial area for PvP works. It explains the tutorials on how to do some things quite well, we need one for when a character is first created. Hell, the tutorial area could easily be a dream we’re having ingame.
mm. I personally don’t understand why they don’t simply expand the defence of Shaemoor/other race’s starting events and turn it in to a 5~ level tutorial instance.
Downed could be explained by a scripted downed state which runs you through dying, fighting for your life, rallying, etc etc. A scripted weapon drop could run you though weapon swapping and weapon skills, etc etc etc.
This just seems like the most sensible way to do it, which is why I’m quite baffled by ArenaNet’s chosen direction

RMT (Real Money Trading) is against the terms of service in practically every single MMO that exists. Doing so means you’re liable to a banhammer straight to the face
same here. I’ve hit 29 and everything has slowed to an absolute crawl. what the hell is going on. I hope this doesn’t take until next week to fix.
got me one level.
Sadfaces all around
I heard reports that some juvies were removed in Queensdale as well.
mm, I couldn’t find the krytan hound that was in beetletun
Been hunting for the better part of half an hour to no avail. Was the juvenile Jaguar in Metrica Province removed?
since 9/9 patch, when I use my salvage-o-matic, I get like a split second of one of his lines, and then it cuts out. this just happening to me, or everyone?

As wanze said, salvage o matic is incredibly useful. Bag space is also very important later all, but keep in mind that you not only can buy extra slots from the gem store, but you can buy bigger slot bags from the TP. You may want to convert some gems to gold to purchase them
BTW, how do you find the new player experience so far? Reviews are overwhelmingly negative – at least for veterans.
You can read my view here (and bump for anet viewing )
Am I a complete blind moron and just totally missed it, or are there no displayed post ratings?
If there’s not, what’s the point of the +1 button? o.o
I never had problems in wvw (edge of the mists) before, even in huge crowds, but now I’m getting frame rate stutter and frame skipping for no reason at all.
Note, this only started after the 9/9 patch.

I want to make a clear, non-ranty post in the hopes of getting a staff member’s actual input.
When it comes to guild wars, some of the game’s features are very overwhelming.
However, those overwhelming features are nothing to do with the levelling process (skills, downed state, etc) and everything to do with the total lack of direction and instruction regarding the game;’s advanced and unique features.
For example, a very unique and totally awesome aspect of Guild Wars 2’s combat is the combo system – A system that I wouldn’t know even existed were it not for me accidentally triggering a combo one day and asking my guild what just happened.
It is these advanced game features, like combos, dungeons, traits, crafting, etc that need a new approach due to their total lack of in-game tutelage. What is not needed is a massive “dumbing down” of the leveling system itself, which is genuinely pretty easy to understand for the majority of people who would go out and purchase an MMORPG before playing it (ie, people who play GW2).
In summary, this gated and lengthy hand holding process is not what is needed, rather we need better in-game communication and instruction regarding GW2’s unique gameplay aspects like comboing, crafting, etc.
Those replying, should you chose to, please keep the replies civil and pleasant, to not give any reason for this thread to be locked and ignored, thank you.

Proposal Overview:
- Individual Guild Member Influence Shops
Goal of Proposal:
- To offer members in a guild incentives to gather influence, rather than just have it as a collective thing there for the guild
Proposal Functionality:
- Include in the world several shop NPC’s which allow you to spend your individually contributed guild influence on various personal rewards, perhaps gear, or skins, etc etc. something nice (similar in function to our current Karma vendors)
- Allow each guild member to check and monitor their influence gains and individual influence “balance” in the guild interface
- Gives a reason/motivation for gathering influence
- Ensure that spending individual influence points does not detract from a guild’s total influence (for example, have a total:available style balance)
Associated Risks
- I imagine those who have been in one guild for their entire GW life may have mountains of influence to spend, but this can be allieviated by making items gained from these vendors untradable and unsalvagable/forgable
(edited by rapthorne.7345)
they may have nerfed it because levelling up through crafting is just too complex for us window lickers.
Freemium that’s managed well can actually be great for the game’s health. If it leads to a better ArenaNet with more customer-centric development, I’d buy a subscription to the game
I am a pretty new player to the game, and I have 2,800 gems to spend. As a nub, what’s worth grabbing in the gem store, and are black lion keys a worthwhile investment?
I already have: Copper-fed salvage thing, dreamcleaver wood cutting axe, digital deluxe upgrade, third profession upgrade
all advice and opinions welcome
that’s pretty absurd. so I’m going to miss out on 15 SP? :/
Is this by design, or a bug? by the old system I’d gain a skill point every level after 5, but now I’m 15 and still at 0 SP
I just re-logged my GW and it patched about 28MB. any idea what this is from? I can’t see anything official regarding it
Might I ask exactly what you mean by “Logistics and Quality of Life”? I assume this isn’t encompassing possible guild related content we’d like to see, but would like to have full clarity on exactly what’s on the table for discussion
You get a key from completing the level 10 storyline. so you can still get a key early, but it does require reaching level 10, rather than rushing through ASAP
My Rytlock, from my digital deluxe pack, seems to have vanished from thin air can’t find it at all in the mini’s wardrobe section
Bit annoyed that the item I bought using real money has a level restriction when it’s for a basic game function.
Let me guess, people who buy from the item mall can’t handle the complexity of salvaging, so it had to be gated behind a barrier.
My nub is level 11 now, and has 4 18 slot bags full to bursting with stuff that I can’t salvage due to the level requirement
I have an axe, and I want a sickle and pickaxe to make my life easier. anyone able to give a rough estimate as to how often they are on the Black Lion Market?
out of curiosity, does anyone know what the benefits of a VIP account are in china, over a normal account?
I can sort of see the point of view of locking the downed state (though still think it’s absurd) but why on earth would you level lock downed state skills? this makes recovering from downed insanely hard at lower levels unless someone’s there to help you out, thus adding not only this mythical “confusion” factor to the downed state but a huge amount of frustration too (especially for those poor saps playing thieves who will be dying all over the place without access to their weapon skills for evasion)
I like how the staff member completely ignored all questions regarding the need for this change then disappeared. So much for communication.
I wanted to get a different weapon (not a fan of axe on necro and can’t use off hands until 7) but I can’t interact with the TP (can buy things from O menu, but can’t collect at an NPC) can’t commune with skill points, can’t complete skill point challenges, can’t do anything that requires some level of initiative.
Just why? This is so horribly frustrating. Why and how could anyone at ArenaNet believe this was a good direction to head in
Word of caution: the exp you get from EOTM is significantly lower while the character is under 30 now. It may be better to just follow the green arrow till you get to 30 and then to EOTM….if eotm isn’t level gated as well
Well, that sucks moa balls
I totally and utterly regret waiting to create alts until this patch hit, hoping that leveling would be more awesome because of it
The changes were the result of feedback since launch, not because of China. ArenaNet makes the changes while China localized them, so really, the changes could have been here first to begin with. China was simply used as a testing grounds to see how new players handled it.
All the changes they’ve made for the “new player experience” are complaints I’ve seen in the past (mostly from launch), especially the change to the personal story. Everyone’s quick to judge about not being able to use a certain amount of skills, but there are people who have never played an MMO before and think 5 skills were a lot to be thrown in to. Have you ever seen a non-gamer attempt to play an MMO for the first time, especially an older person? They need to be eased into the game. You know that saying about not knowing how to use the remote/tv/vcr/technology? Yeah.
Personally, I found the first 15ish levels to be the slowest in the game, whereas the rest went by far too quickly, since I reach 80 about 20-30% through. Removal of the personal story sounded dreadful to me, but I heard experience was greatly increased in the beginning, fixing that problem. I don’t care about the unlock changes since I can adapt and frankly, most classes use the first three skills the most anyways.
Why would people who have never played an MMO before purchase guild wars 2, rather than try out a free to play first?
Support to allow the severely mentally handicapped to play the game.
bump
But let’s face it, this is all about squeezing more money out of people through the gemstore. Within the next month or so, you’ll see new items added that allow players to bypass the “tutorial” segments of the game.
I’d like to hope that’s not true, but who knows. This patch is clearly a very poorly informed decision on ArenaNet’s part. so it makes me worry about what other bad choices there will be in the future
