The prediction of an expansion is based on an investor dodad where someone from NCSoft’s corporate division said that they feel an expansion on GW2 may be soon to come, but given the level of Engrish and mistranslation involved, they may simply mean expanding the game as a whole, the advertising, the staffing, etc
I’d love for an expansion, because it’s not healthy for a game like GW2 to go so long without a major update (note, major meaning core content expansion. classes, weapons, races, mechanics, etc)
Morgan’s Spiral JP just doesn’t want to give me my final item for the christmas tree collection, is there an alternative way of getting the item needed?
The game is called Guild Wars 2, yet Guilds have such little functionality compared to the original game.
crossfire/SLI is a waste of money at this point in time, the tech just isn’t where it needs to be to be worth it. the pitiful performance increase you get from dual cards is not worth the money.
Refund one of your cards, play on just one R9
You also don’t emerge from water and turn in to your avatar in real life, which greatly disappointed me
Unfortunately, a recent update by ArenaNet removed a huge amount of the really fun and cool things there are to do on the lower level maps.
My advice is find a guild, relax and just do what you feel like. GW2 isn’t a grind heavy game and it’s definitely not a “hardcore” game. GW2 is definitely a casual experience.
Don’t make the mistake of rushing through the content, play the story, do reknown hearts, listen and observe what’s going on. Every single reknown heart has it’s own thing going on, and each map has it’s own little mini story you can uncover by completing the hearts, I really enjoy that, but then storyline is part of what makes GW2 awesome for me
I see people with hundreds of gifts already, what are people doing to farm, as as far as I’m aware, there’s nothing like the labyrinth we had for halloween
yeah, pretty underwhelmed
I’d rather be treated like a customer, as it’s what I am. I am a customer and client of a product and service, and I expect to be treated as such
Well, I love all my toons but I do like my sylvaris.
that creepy ronald
GW2 is the brighter happier MMO, and in many ways I prefer playing it, even after the diabolical mess the levelling system is in now. But it is like Fisher-Price ‘My First MMO’ compared to TSW which has mature writing, excellent cutscenes, mostly first rate voice acting, and just a darker tone to it.
Okay, if I were to break it down into 5 categories:
Fun: GW2
Approachability: GW2 pre-AMFP/TSW post AMFP
Storyline/writing: TSW
Voice acting: TSW
Performance: TSW (I play on Ultra settings there with no issues)
The overall storyline for TSW is definitely better, but most of the main quests (for those who don’t play TSW, main quests are filler stories to gain AP and SP between and during “issues” of main story content") are full of rambling incoherence.
GW2 gets my vote, playing both TSW and GW2, I find GW2 more engaging and friendly in terms of systems and mechanics, as well as community.
Both are great games, I just much prefer GW2
Are there any skins/exotics that make your weapons look like elementalist weapons? (ie, ice bow, earth shield, fiery greatsword, lightning hammer, flame axe, etc etc)
Anyone else feel this way?
Most of the half decent looking armour has something dopey that (in MY opinion, before people jump on me) really ruins it’s look like one giant pauldron then a flimsy piece of tin on the other shoulder, or one leg clad in armour and the other bare (where’s the sense there?)
(edited by rapthorne.7345)
I fail to see why this is an issue. Never had a problem with people griefing or “stealing” an instance.
Clarity on what you mean exactly would be nice.
I’d like this, not from a performance point of view, but to actually be able to see what the hell is going on at world bosses
I’m talking facial features and character build, rather than pretty costumes.
My girlfriend managed to prove me wrong when I said it was impossible for asura to look cute, so I figure I’d ask people here what character creation wizardry they managed with their characters
Of the two, I much prefer Guardian. Has good dps output as well as innate tankiness from traits and virtues and great team support.
Guardian staff (900 range) and sceptre (1200 range) are lots of fun, and guardian definitely has more cc options available.
I would say though that my opinion isn’t yours. Try both classes out, see what you like (You can just make a newbie and throw it at pvp to test what each class is like at 80)
Nope, given there’s no fixed progression/perm choices I see no reason to have more than one class, as the racial differences are insignificant
One day humanity will learn to actually respect each other’s opinions.
Still think the OP is far too biased, would be nice to set out a forum topic that simply lists community listed pros, cons, and leaves out any and all personal opinion so that a straight comparison can be achieved
Just the one, I don’t see a reason to have more than one of each class given builds are not fixed
The rates are pretty disturbing, especially when you consider how many people farm champion boxes for hours every day and still don’t receive precursors.
I mean I know they’re pretty much just a visual trophy, but still
well then…
“Across all characters, you have played 572 hours 12 minutes over the past 109 days”
I guess the op is so ignorant that he thinks that Teq isn’t a dps-fest because you can’t crit him. He has also made another post similar to this one in the guardian subforum.
At this point he’s just crying out loud how much he despises the zerker meta.To be fair compared to most fights it isn’t really a DPS-fest.
In most fights you can just stand on the enemy and hit it until it dies. With Tequatl you actually have to organize and split up in order to complete it.
this guy gets it.
You use soldiers over zerker knowing that it’s not optimal. Why would you care about optimal runes/sigils for a build that isn’t optimal anyways?
Because shockhorror I have two armour sets.
And kitten , it was fun as heck.
Please give us more “epic scale” content like this, ANet, it’s so much more fun than the DPS-fest that all the other world bosses boil down to
I’m going power/toughness/vit with my armour, because screw berserker, I want to be tanky.
But what runes/sigils would be the best option in pve for a guardian who mainly uses GS/Hammer?
definitely. I rarely use retreat to actually retreat.
However given the total lack of any new PC audio in the living story, I suspect the original voice actors have gone away from ANet
I’ll forgive your high expectations as you said GW2 is your first MMO, but I’ll say this.
As someone who has been playing F2P games for over a decade, I can easily and without hesitation say that GW2 is by far the highest quality MMO on the market today.
Go check out some other MMORPG’s around, and you’ll be able to see just how good we have it here.
You think the crafting grind is bad? Check out other games where every aspect of them is a grind.
Crafting above 400 (ie, ascended) is designed to be a long term goal, not something achievable in a matter of weeks.
I will agree with you on the game’s lack of guidance and help, this is probably GW2’s major flaw (and the thing the NPE should have, but did not, fix).
What I think you’ve done here is burned yourself out on GW2. Played it too intensively over a period of time.
Take a break from things, chill out a bit (go play some other games for comparison’s sake – you’ll appreciate GW2 a hell of a lot more) and try to just take things slow
Housing is something I’d adore (and spend a HUGE amount of gems on, hint hint anet)
it only has little legs
So yeah, the guild I am currently repping has fallen in to inactivity and (worse!) silence in the chat.
I’m on NA Northern Shiverpeaks and seeking an active guild to join, ideally one with an active chat and members from around the globe (But English speaking).
I have 2 80’s and I’m working on my third, I’m a casual pve’er who occasionally dabbles in pvp and wvw and is always up for dungeons
DeWolfe — I’m sorry you’re inconvenienced by this situation, but honestly, it’s the best overall. The restrictions aid greatly in account security, just as early chat restrictions reduce in-game advertising of money-selling sites. I sure understand your frustration, but the limits will lift in a relatively short time, and ultimately, the player experience is better for having them in place.
Thanks for understanding.
I don’t really see why it’s for the best.
We pay money to access the game in the first place, why should there be restrictions on what we can do just because the account is young?
Free trial accounts I can understand, but not full paid accounts
I’m more concerned as to the reason for the log in incentives, is activity dwindling that much?
I personally think that `Players Helping Players` should be listed under support. Helping players `is` a form of support and I don’t think that people would be confused that it’s not ‘official’ support based on the forum title. Doing that would also place the forum nice and high.
Interesting, Kaz, I was actually thinking the same.
Does anyone else have thoughts about the best place to house “Player Helping Players?”
- Community Corner, since it involves community members
- Game Discussion
- Support
Since this sub-forum was on the approved list I was provided (this project had its inception before I became Forum Communications Team Lead), I believe that the question of where we place the sub-forum is not a major issue. On the other hand, some of the other questions or comments in this thread involve forums that were not on the list, and therefore I’d need to get review and approval for changes.
Thanks for your feedback on the subject of Players Helping Players.
I’d personally put it with general Discussion (Typically the highest traffic area of every MMO forum) so that new players won’t have to wait several hours for answers.
can you not just do the living story on 3 different characters if you want each type of carapace armour?
Nope. only worked for shoulders, and leggings. which when i think about it i guess what i would like is the ability to trade the non-story ones for other non-story ones. like, gloves for boots, since i already can get the leggings. in fact, bout an hour before i posted this reply, i got a second gloves box. more useless armor.
this story just released also has a carapace piece reward.
I suspect if you’re willing to be patient, the entire carapace set will be available through living story chapters
can you not just do the living story on 3 different characters if you want each type of carapace armour?
I’m honestly against this program. There’s no one on our forums that has the qualities sought, and those that are potential candidates polarise and dramatise the community far too much and too often.
I’m all for player ambassadors. Players who can directly interface with GM’s and offer feedback from the community, but if that is what is needed, what has been the point of all the feedback and suggestions posted on the forums thus far, and what’s to stop these players only relaying things they themselves want?
To me, this seems unnecessary and just a way for ANet to interface with the community directly even less, which is one of the biggest critiques a large number of players have.
Don’t make players do your work for you, it doesn’t end well for any company that I have seen use a player ambassador system like this.
•must live in the USA and be age 18 or older, for legal reasons
Why is this, what about the rest of your playerbase from say Europe, Australia etc.
Who decides on who gets this position etc, I know 1 person on these forums who is ULTRA white knight and will probably love this, but this person annoys and could probably cause several arguments in topics because they cannot see the PoV of other players……
If they are in California, I’m pretty sure state law governs volunteers.
I for one am 100% against this program, as there’s no one that regularly posts on the forums that is suitable, and the current moderation program works just fine.
Inviting players to a moderation structure is inviting bias in to the system.
The forums aren’t active enough to need any more moderation than they already have.
Absolutely no one that regularly uses the forum fulfills the requirement “Links to 3 forum posts made in the past 3 months that demonstrate your ability to provide good feedback as well as your community leadership”
Are there any plans to update the forum framework, or simply reorganise the forum sections? I hate how bland it is here, and how many features simply do not work.
A small suggestion that (realistically) affects nothing significant gets implemented a month or so after it’s suggested, yet there have been many amazing suggestions go completely ignored that could change the face of the game
I ended up kiting them all through toxic caltrops
In the scene from the first memory seed? I really like the look of it
what the actual kitten is going on, Vayne actually has something critical to say, instead of spewing utterly blind brand loyalty?
The apocalypse is nigh.
This topic is incredibly biased and opinion based, and not suitable as a compendium due to that bias, please stop linking to it everywhere.
Right, well I think that the idea of "feasibility’ is rather what one assumes to be “proper” but not what can ACTUALLY be done. Everyone feels like things must remain a certain way but these changes can in-fact take place wheather or not it dated back to gw1 or never existed at all. It’s really up to the people that make the game, but without the above suggestions, I honestly feel like I & my 34 friends who play might quit. The gameplay is just dull in this manner. It’s the same stuff no matter where you are in game & that gets really old fast. There’s no fantasy, no escape exploration..It’s just the same thing everywhere you go. It’s only fun for some of the time. I don’t know anymore.
See you then o/ Bye now.
Your idea of fantasy isn’t universal. Just because you want an immeasurably boring and generic “fantasy” experience doesn’t mean everyone does.
GW2 is very unique, the story is fantastic and the world itself is highly immersive. Just because it doesn’t have elves and vampires and werewolves (the most generic, boring and over-used fantasy tropes every, btw) doesn’t make it a non-immersive or interesting game in anything except your own, personal, opinion.
TL;DR of OP:
QQ wah GW2 isn’t a boring as hell generic rpg with lacklustre story and forgettable npc’s
Disney owns so much more than a lot of you probably realise.
