Getting transmutation charges is actually super easy, to be honest (sitting on 56 as we speak), and once you hit 80 (really does not take long) you will find you only stick to one or two sets of armour that you can transmute as you like. Costumes (items that go over the entire armour set regardless of armour class) are a good alternative to armour cosmetics if you really want to look pretty while leveling, but I’d recommend waiting until you’re 80 and have all your gearing up out of the way before you worry about cosmetics.
I play on NA servers myself, Northern Shiverpeaks. In my experience with MMORPG’s, EU servers are always underpopulated and divided by multiple languages, whereas the vast majority of people on the NA servers speak English
Nexon is an abysmal company with a disgusting reputation. NCSoft would do very well to distance themselves as much as possible from any collaboration outside what is mandatory for a shareholder
The PvE meta is berserker or GTFO, unfortunately. WvW and PvP are more varied, but you often see pure berserker builds there, too.
What support classes?
salvage all gear drops and sell mats, and make sure to do your daily ascalonian catacombs paths for 5g/day
customer service is fantastic, they’ll sort you out (just wish the rest of ANet were as great as their CS)
With respect, no information was actually shared other than something may in some way change with HoT. Ambiguous information is often more frustrating than none at all.

No. If there is ever any open PK content in the game, I will uninstall and not look back. Open PK and open world PvP are one of the biggest factors that contribute to game communities becoming unpleasant environments.

The main issue I have is the fact that masteries are not universal for the entire game, most are HoT zone exclusive
And then you compare this with the massive gold sinks that are other games end game gear grind and realise that you only need to invest time and a little gold, rather than max out your credit card and rely purely on a 0.0000001% drop rate on top of fortification, enchanting, etc etc etc.
add to that that there will not ever be a gear treadmill to invalidate all your hard work in 6 months time with a level capraise, and I think we have it pretty good
Roleplayers = people that play the game specifically to impersonate and act as if they were their character in a specific scenario they create.
No, not all role playing gamers are role players. the RP community in almost every game is a huge minority
Trait merchants in newbie maps also serve no purpose and should be removed to avoid confusion
Would be nice to see some sharper looking swords (hue) yes,
You can press R to auto run, if that helps
not new and as it states at the bottom of the mail it was sent from a player and the url is a clusterkitten, I doubt many people will fall for it
Rangers have a higher skill cap later down the road and if you “couldn’t kill crap” with a thief only up to level 7 you may find a ranger is far too difficult to play.
wut? o.O Ranger is second only to warrior in it’s simplicity
Ranger skills are simple in design yes, but its the way you are going to play in PvE in you want to run the cookiecutter PvE build. Basicly you need to get good with sword and half of the time it roots you etc, so you need to turn autoattacks off and truly master its attack chain if you still want to be able to dodge a big hit. Bow is only used to put #5 down and #2 on CD, the rest is all melee. You dont have to do this on other classes, since none of the autoattacks root you.
I use sword on my ranger and, maybe it’s my history of action MMO’s, but I don’t find animation cancelling or dodge timing in any way challenging or difficult to do on ranger. Thief is far, far more complex in terms of dps output while staying alive and well

This solidifies how pathetically low precursor drop rates are.
for new content? sure, I would. Not 800 gems, but maybe 200 per path (like unlocking LS episodes).
As for your “if you wouldn’t you’re not blah blah” this is an open discussion forum and everyone has a right to their say. not allowing an opposing opinion skews any possible data ANet could collect from this discussion.
As far as dailies are concerned, the system gives you dailies based on the highest level character on your account. someone with an 80 on their account will not have the same dailies as someone just starting the game.
even in a party, you only get credit for mobs you tag, so if someone is killing faster than you, they will finish faster.

faulds/tassets/cuisse were pretty common in medieval times, protection of the thigh and waist area where plate couldn’t cover well due to not wanting to restict movement too badly.
eh, the non-event nodes are all a bit pointless, to be honest. there’s nothing on them you can’t get from salvaging a few drops.
mesmer in pvp. Such a kittening nightmare to try to take on a half decent mesmer, you might as well not even bother unless you have a lot of back up
I quite enjoy silverwastes for it’s relatively low amount of WP’s. You actually have to battle across the wastes and take stock of your surroundings.
GW2 is an amazingly beautiful world that gets overlooked due to convenience.
ranger is strong, but gets a little boring as it’s very simple to play. I dislike engineer, but that’s more personal preference (feels way too clunky for my tastes). Thief is massive loads of fun. super mobile, very strong and can easily annihilate in pvp, though doesn’t have much utility in pve at 80 outside stealth shroud for content skipping and backstab
I’m half expecting the heart of maguma biomes to be like one huge raid

trying to sell crafting mats on the TP and every 5 sales or so I’m having to wait because of the selling too fast error. this is way, way more often than normal. Was the threshold lowered? if so, why? it was already irritating as it was before.
Everyone needs an escape, some more than others. if spending money on GW2 brings you happiness, then why the hell not, I say. No different than spending money on any other hobby or consumable vice.
GW2, and really any MMO where you feel at home, can become your own world. I adore GW2 and I love the community. As Mike and Collin said at pax so many times, GW2 is by far the friendliest MMORPG community in the world.
GW2 is my home away from home, where I connect with people all over the world for one common goal: Having fun and getting away from life’s stresses.

As someone who doesn’t like the warrior class, I don’t understand what you’re complaining about. Pet skills on ranger are massively versatile and geared towards utility. There’s so many ways to counteract warrior long animation skills, from stuns/knockbacks/dazes/blocks to wolf fears, and even simply using a stone signet or dodging backwards
given we have 0 info on the precursor collections, HoT’s release date and how difficult they may be to complete, it’s a bad idea to jump to conclusions
Considering the new Precursor acquisition method (unlocked in HoT) sends you all over the game world to complete content, and that Specializations allow you to use the skills you unlock at any time, I would guess that you can use them anywhere.
This has a lot of interesting information about that: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/473/feature/9340/page/2
with what I said I more mean masteries. how it was talked about made it seem like it’s exclusively for maguma.
I’m really hyped about the expansion, but I have two massive alarm bell concerns.
1. Will development of the core game and living story continue, or will all development from HoT release focus on the expansion only? (ie, anyone who buys the base GW2 game… will they ever see new content without HoT?)
2. All the cool new features sound like they are totally centred around use exclusively in maguma. Will I not be able to make use of my cool new skills outside the heart of the jungle?

I just hope we can progress our Characters if we decide NOT to specialize into the new sub-class. I main Ranger and main reason for that is the archer archetype. I really don’t want to be a Druid throwing nature-magic around.
I think you are expecting waaaay to much from specializations.
Well it doesn’t take that much expectation.
We just want something else to be viable. We just want to know that we’re not going to pressing the same skills in the same order in the same situations for the rest of our GW2 careers.
For Ranger, the word “Druid” screams “Healing Power.” And we all know what that means.
So it’s a legitimate concern. Not that we have any solid info on it yet.
MMORPG: That’s a one-time thing, correct? I’m a ranger, I do my stuff and bam, I’m a druid, I can use druid powers?
CJ: Correct, and then you can swap back and forth, you can say “My character’s a druid, but I’m going to play as a ranger today.” It’s very similar to changing out your skills and traits, you can go in and change whenever you want, as long as you’re out of combat.

Honestly there’s nothing in there not covered by the HoT presentation stream, but for those of you not in to watching streams, it could prove useful.
given the potential wait for HoT, I imagine that there will still be patches to the game.
You must also remember that not everyone will be buying the expansion pack, and I imagine ANet realise that. I suspect regular patches will occur to both the base game and HoT, but (at least in the first few months at minimum) HoT will be the focus.
nerfing berserker won’t do anything but cause a massive outcry in the community. What needs to happen is an overhaul of PvE to counter pure-dps tactics.
MMO’s do not last forever, and I share your pain on the unjust execution of CoH, but I feel GW2 will be around for at least 5 years, if not longer.
Mike stated that everyone making one will start fresh when revenant comes out, so I doubt it.
Guild halls was a given. Not so surprised that it has come this quick. As some pointed out, it pretty much was coming. Whilst others argued that it wasn’t set in stone, which is understandable.
A given. The only question that really needed to be answered was how viable they will be for small guilds.
I shouldn’t have to leave my guild of close personal friends to join a large guild because it will take 100x longer to build a guild hall otherwise.
yeah, I’m concerned about that, too. I hope they take in to account that not everyone’s in a huge guild
My speculation is $30 or there abouts, with optional collectors editions with extras (character slot, revenant rytlock mini, etc etc)
The casual nature of GW2 was never going to appeal to the eastern MMO grindfest crowd, and I’m sure that ANet expected that.
You do realize that ArenaNet stopped working temporarily on improvements for us due to the release on China, right? They said as much last year.
Meanwhile, we have the NCSoft report stating that the China released was weaker than they expected. So no, ArenaNet wasn’t expecting GW2 to not appeal to a grindbased market. I wonder why.
So, I heard you like kittens? You have a bunch of those, it seems
if NCSoft tell anet to do something, they do it. doesn’t mean they have to like it or think it’s a good idea. Fun stuff, being a subsidiary.
china failure?
Per the NCSoft quarterly report, the sales in China have been less than they expected. Together with the continuous loss in profit, and the inclusion of strategies that free to play games employ to keep players logging in no matter what (such as the reward system for merely logging in the game), it’s easy to see that ArenaNet is becoming desperate.
It’s little suprise to see an expansion. It’s probably ArenaNet’s last bet. It’s still worth noticing, though, that we are getting this now because the other strategies have failed.
Mike said they have been working towards HoT since launch, so I think you’re full of kitten.
The casual nature of GW2 was never going to appeal to the eastern MMO grindfest crowd, and I’m sure that ANet expected that.
Mike mentioned “Challenging group content” in HoT, and they were recruiting for a Raid Designer a while back, but we have no specifics, yet.
Perhaps they’re aiming to release it on the Anniversary of GW2’s release date?
:O Didn’t think of that, could be.
Yes, absolutely. However I’m dubious about the price, and I seriously hope they don’t draw the release out any longer than it absolutely has to be
