Granted it’s only slightly lower but also I used to run Endure pain until I realized that it was only really useful for Burst Thieves/Eles, which you encounter much less often then Condi builds.
Well, it’s just that I tend to have a very weak sense of danger, so I often end up keeping enemies occupied alone. The 2nd endure pain often helps me survive long enough to pull out a stomp or things like that.
But I admit I realized I can kill things even with soldier, while being almost unstoppable. I’m just a bit less aggressive.
Main problem is 100b damage is 10-15% lower, I think. That’s the difference between downing a guardian with some luck or not, I guess.
because he doesn’t know it himself
Nothing really new in that build other than adding healing signet. It’s virtually identical to to build I have been running since the patch that changed skull crack. Except I use Dogged March or Shield Master instead of Missile Deflection. I also prefer Sigil of Fire over Accuracy, personally. I rotate out bersker (endure pain, stomp, berserker stance) depending on map and what classes I am up against. Everything else is 100% identical.
(No offense intended)
None taken, that said the old version used Zerker Ammy, this uses soldiers. Before it wasn’t really worth taking but now with the healing changes our sustain is a lot better and you can actually win 1v1’s with soldiers now (useful if you wanna tackle home bunker solo). The soldiers however gives you much lower crit chance, which is offset by Unsuspecting foe but I feel that because you were doing most of the damage while they were stunned the Fire sigil only prots maybe once so I figured just having the extra crit chance was a better investment.
I decided to make a new version post because I thought the Ammy and Heal/Utility changes were fairly significant since it doubles the sustain it had before. I finally feel like a warrior now, not a thief that lacks stealth or a guardian that lacks protection.
But you could also say that it’s best to make sure the enemy is as much downed as possible after a full 100 blades. That might save the game if you manage to land it on a guardian, while maybe another mate comes by and lands something himself too.
I used this build, zerker ammy but high defense:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNApeRjkOpwtQGPMxBE0DsoK2iTBlQ9wO2w4A-TsAg0CnIMSZkzIjRSjsGNgYZxEBA
That double Defy Pain does wonders at keeping you alive, and you can land more consistent damage out of stuns, too!
(Trying it with Soldier’s amulet -and Balanced Stance instead of Dolyak Signet- , I found myself a bit lacking on the burst side, but I was EXTREMELY resistant to anything)
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNApeRjkOxutQGPMxBEkCNsKOPUCmg8UKsjNE-TsAA1CnICSFkLITQygsBNQYZxECA
Another possible version. Didn’t test it, but it might work.

Seriously, I hope I’ll never pvp you.
I fear a thief applying stacks of confusion might be disturbing.

Apatia, seeing how much she had to suffer at the hands of them. For me it was one of the saddest moments in the game.
She brought all of this to herself. Hadn’t I stole the orb under her suggestion, she wouldn’t have turned into an undead and she would have been still alive when we came to save her. The krait enslaved her. We let Zhaitan turn her into an undead. She called it to herself as the Krait did.
She was just a foolish soldier who paid the price for underestimating her enemies.
The most important fact is that, for the first time, you see ENEMIES DIE INDIRECTLY AS A CONSEQUENCE OF YOUR ACTIONS. That’s a pretty strong thing. Considering they faced the fate you and the whole Pact are trying to avoid. I know it’s the right thing to do. I know maybe Kraits deserved it. Still, it’s kinda unsetting.
because he doesn’t know it himself
You don’t have to feel sympathy to understand this was not the “easy” wai out of the problem, and it was kind of a coward way to get rid of the Krait. And that’s a good thing.
I wouldn’t have said the same thing if you took the orb by going with an army directly into the slave tower, slaying every single one of them, burning their eggs, killing their newborns and so on.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Warrior_Charr_Hide_armor
I’d be pretty upset if someone did this to one of my kind. Maybe we did something to them too, but that would mean we are sworn enemies, and a treaty can’t be enough to smother the ostility in anyone.
And… well, according to the wiki, charrs were pushed away from their homeland by humans.
because he doesn’t know it himself
(edited by redslion.9675)
The krait wouldn’t show you the same respect. They enslave, kill, and eat other races and have a sense of superiority over other races. And this isnt just one group of krait, this is every krait I have ever seen. So good, let them die a horrible death in the same way they have forced other people to die horrible deaths. I have no sympathy for the krait.
But two wrongs don’t make a right.
You can’t convince me that was a honorbale deed. Not something a Vigil would do and boast about, but something that would come up with: “it was the right thing to do, even if I didn’t like it”.
And… well, also Ogres are orribly aggressive. Why do I have some of those filthy monsters around while I do my missions, only because someone ordered me to help them?

It is: you just have to type into map chat “HOW DO I QUICKSCOPE?”

The problem with warrior CC is that it’s single target.
Your defenses work mostly against single enemies. Face more people and you’ll have a hard time stopping all of them.
Protection and heals, on the other hand, work at their best no matter how many enemies you are facing.
because he doesn’t know it himself
Really liking mace/shield + GS build atm. The amount of people who sit through skull crack coz they popped a stunbreaker too soon or simply think it be over soon is amazing. Can easily get a lot of Hundred Blades in. That said, I DO NOT FEEL OP. Not at all. We just have a viable/decent option now.
Well, you can apply the stun more often than the stunbreakers. However, I think this build is solid, not OP. You still can’t take down good bunkers alone without some luck or an AWFUL amount of time. And you are still a single target fighter and vulnerable to AoE spam.
because he doesn’t know it himself
Whats your build then….? CON or shouts or?
this is my build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNApeRjkOxutQGPMxBEkCNsKOKUCmQ9wO2w4A-TsAA1CnICSFkLITQygsBNQYZxUEAAH! It’s a variant of the build I posted but I actually for once agree with Soldier Ammy now. Before it hardly added much sustain but combine it with our buffed healing it’s much more effective. I like Dogged March but I find it hard to let go of Missile Reflect. Keeping Rangers at bay and making Thieves guild and Phant Duelist kill themselves is very useful. I’m going to keep messing around with both because they both fill the same role of allowing us to close gaps, although now Reflect has the amusing side bonus of giving us stealth when Rangers use Hunters Shot.
I use something like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNApeRjkOpwtQGPMxBE0DNsK2iTBlQ9wO2w4A-TsAg0CnIMSZkzIjRSjsGNQYZxECA
From the last patch, but changed healing surge with healing signet. The damage isn’t that bad, even out of bursts, and the survivability is really high. I like playing it in tourneys.
But yeah, reflection can be useful. And you could find some use in warrior’s sprint instead of DotE.
because he doesn’t know it himself
This is pretty much verbatim what hammer warriors were in GW1. Do you know how you shut them down to avoid them stun-locking you into oblivion? You blinded them.
GW1 had an entirely different design that GW2, any sort of comparison about gameplay is just misplaced. GW1 was a team game with plenty of team support, positioning mattered allowing ally focus fire/support to catch anyone out of positioning and pressuring you. GW2 is a solo-skirmishy game with little to no team support outside of hardcore premades.
Warriors can stunlock consistently and constantly, having a class entirely based around forcing the opponent to lose control of their charector for prolonged lengths of time (5+ seconds) IS BAD DESIGN. Nothing better than the frenzy-100b they scrapped before.
That’s my point, if you care to actually address it this time… I’m all ears.As a sidenote.
Yes warrior CC is counterable.
No one thinks its OP, just like 100-b warriors.
But is it good gameplay?
Not in the slightest…. just like 100-b warriors.
And like mesmers and Minion necros, clugging your view in an ANIMATION BASED combat system.
because he doesn’t know it himself
No thank you on changing 100 Blades. All this would do is destroy the synergy it has with Mace/Shield currently. This would be an unneeded change that would just hurt the class further imo.
I wonder what if someone want to pair gs with something else than this gimmick build?
Not everyone love to standing in one place like a mo. for over 3sec and carry mace/shield to make a single skill work
If this is gimmick, sword is a kittened weapon (all around landing final thrust), and longbow is nothing more than an AoE spam cheese.
Neither of these weapons deserves those names.
because he doesn’t know it himself
I think the arcing slash-100b switch would be nice, at least we would see gs warriors use AS…maybe XD
No: you’d see many warriors NOT using GS anymore.XD
because he doesn’t know it himself
There’s just a problem: this is not for pve, and you are not a warrior. If I’d have to balance elementalist even without playing one, you would tremble. (stability? FORGET IT. Heals and damage with the same weapon? FORGET IT)
I don’t want to be nerfed in pvp because you want it nerfed in pve.
I know, I know. My suggestions were just food for thought for a possible change in playstyle. Ideas that can be considered, expanded, polished, changed, etc. They didn’t take balance much into equation because, as you said, I’m not a Warrior.
Yeah, sorry, I overreacted a bit. What I mean is that 100b alone can’t be the main source of damage for greatsword in pvp, especially if it’s a burst.
However, from my experience, rush works better now. It might be just an impresson, though.
because he doesn’t know it himself
I think 100b on burst would make some sense, the current burst is pretty lackluster and unexciting. I feel awesome when I’m going to burst with an axe or hammer…when using the GS I’m just looking for another weapon to swap to.
No, it doesn’t make sense, at all. If 100b was F1, you can say goodbye to Skull Crack into 100b swap combos, which is one of our only tpvp viable builds right now with GS.
You’re just making GS a clunky weapon like Hammer if you put 100b on F1.
Also one of the reasons GS is so good is because 100b ISN’T a F1 skill!
Flavor and fun wise it makes perfect sense, there isn’t anything to say they couldn’t adjust the ability on the bar/100b accordingly.
Yeah. Fun for the ones who kill warrior in pvp.XD
Thanks to aftercasts, even with gap closers warriors can’t stick to anything in open field: when I play my engi, i REALLY need to just walk away to make sure I don’t get killed.
because he doesn’t know it himself
Weapon should be viable on its own. While mace/shield+gs might be nice combo its just too similiar to frenzy-bull-lol-hb combo. If we have to pair mace to make gs work, its does mean theres a problem with weapon, in this case with gs.
I would like arcing slide to deal actually similiar damage to evi+some utility and get rid of hb than leaving it the way it is, a counterblow similiar to gs ranger will be far better
It’s called synergy. And you can’t kill someone only with that combo: you deal around 10k-15k damage. This means you’ll have to finish the enemy off with someone else.
And it’s a bit harder: you don’t have gap closers to help you.
And it’s on a different level: it’s on a low cooldown and less aggressive: you have to bait the stunbreak to make it work. And is more built around survivability.
Don’t misunderstand me: I think the build is almost fine. I like the idea and I like the fact I have to wait for the perfect opportunity to attack (weapon timer off cooldown, enemy close, no block, stunbreak used, stability ready to go).
because he doesn’t know it himself
I’m not a Warrior, so my opinion means little, but I think the GS’s main damage output should be mostly through HB, and yes, that skill should be moved to Burst. Meanwhile, I think the 5 mainbar skills should see their damage decreased, with the main purpose of building up a situation where the HB burst can be used most optimally, like arcing’s fury, might-stacking, even extra adrenaline gain; or by having more utility.
PvErs probably don’t want to waste their adrenaline because of the traits. If GS’s main damage output was based on adrenaline, and every other skill had the main purpose to build up for that, PvErs would have to choose between maximing their GS damage, or using their passive damage boost traits. They wouldn’t be able to do both at the same time, like they do now.
Burst: HB
Auto-attack chain: Less damage, add vulnerability or might-stacking on final hit so that HB can benefit from it.
Arcing Slice: Lower the cooldown to 8s, less damage, 4s of fury. Why 4s? So that HB (which lasts a bit more than 3s) or other bursts can fully benefit from it, while preventing perma-fury.
Whirling Attack: Less damage, evade and mobility are fine. Maybe add Torment to punish HB kiting, or Cripple while adding Torment to Bladetrail?
Bladetrail: Fine as it is to make HB hit.
Rush: Less damage, add 1s of daze or stun. Why? First, it doesn’t works on pve’s bosses evil grin, so warrior gets to suffer as much as any other profession in pve. Equality to everyone. Second, to add more utility to this weapon while HB is not being used. Third, if it’s a stun, it’ll help set up the HB burst.Again, I’m not a warrior. This is pure theorycrafting. It might be a bad one at that. But the main points are: 1) make pvers choose between passive adrenaline damage boost traits or GS’s main source of damage; 2) Add some slight extra utility to the weapon.
I have no idea how mace/ axe builds are in pve, nor am I aware of what their problems are.
There’s just a problem: this is not for pve, and you are not a warrior. If I’d have to balance elementalist even without playing one, you would tremble. (stability? FORGET IT. Heals and damage with the same weapon? FORGET IT)
I don’t want to be nerfed in pvp because you want it nerfed in pve.
because he doesn’t know it himself
But actually, thinking about it more, Arcing/Rush/100b. All those could be moved, but what would it do?
What if the CD on 100B was reduced and it moved to 5? WHat would happen if 100B went to burst and Arcing went main bar?
We wouldn’t be able to play mace/shield + Greatsword anymore: if 100 blades is a burst, we wouldn’t be able to chain it with skull crack. Or we could, but that would deal much less damage.
And I don’t think this kind of build is bad or cheesy: against many enemies you have to wait for the perfect strike, to make sure you can take them down quickly in almost a single burst. And Skull crack is hard to land.
What you try to do is try to stick to an enemy with a melee weapon (mace) that has 0 mobility, going through their stunbreaks. I think the warrior deserves to be REWARDED if the manages to get the enemy with a heavy burst.
This to say I don’t think the build deserves a nerf.
Soo… please, DON’T do it!
But thanks for your attention.

Healing Signet:
Healing Power is now more useful with healing signet, before hand it didn’t increase the amount healed enough to be useful.Healing Surge:

Small increase in health earned, +1 condition removed.

I felt sad for Apatia because she told me she didn’t like our plan and I forced her to do it anyway, but yeah—this is interesting.
Well, that also depends on the choices you make. I decided to follow her plan, so maybe I had less reasons.
I wasn’t obviously thinking abou something like “WAAAAAH, those poor Kraaaaaiiiits!”, but something more liike “I’ve never killed so many enemies before, without looking in their eyes, first”.
Just little tweak to make a good piece even better.

… You feel sorry for a race of evil creatures that enslave good people? The five races aren’t trying to ‘compete’ with each other, they’re trying to work with each other to fight the dragons. The krait are actively getting in the way of that. If it wasn’t for the Pact they would all be killed by the dragons anyway.
Well, the fact about the peace treaty is new. Separatists are right: if it’s true the human were on the edge of extinction, more than a peace treaty the peace is a show of mercy. If I were a human, I’d still think the charr are a race of enemies. And as a charr, I might aswell think we should finish the job with humans for all they did to my race (such as wearing the skins of my ancestors: what the Kraits do is not much worse).
It’s not about feeling sorry. I thin it’s also a good point into the plot, but seems like the story doesn’t aknowledge that.
because he doesn’t know it himself
The stun spamming build is nothing more than a crutch for the class and unskilled warriors. Calling it "counterplay"is not only incorrect but also an insult.
Well, it has enough downsides and upsides to be a hardcore build: against some enemies you’ll be experiencing hell.

the kraits are probably the first race everyone would sell to the elder dragons. Even the centaurs can be reasoned with. Kraits? Every one you kill is a favour to the continent.
Or think about it this way, if you let them have the orb any longer they will enslave more good people.
Well, if I were a human, I’d rather sacrifice the Charr. You know, those guys wiped out an entire nation and, if the peace treaty doesn’t hold, might exterminate my kind.
Krait at worst enslave some people, not many (I’ve never seen them considered as a great menace like centaurs, ghosts, the Flame Legion or the Inquest). From what I have seen, but I am probably wrong, they mostly enslave beings near their territory. Their society is too static to threaten whole Tyria.
If I was a charr, I’d rather exterminate other races, who are a much worse competitor.
What I meant is that this plot twist was really strong, and a bit upsetting, especially if suggested by a soldier who should value honorable fights above everything else.
And we let the eggs be corrupted. Those kraits were innocent.
Don’t misunderstand me, I’d still do it. But I’d want at least ONE NPC to note this fact for at least a second.
Really, should I feel sorry for Apatia? After all, if she got caught and turned into an undead is her own kitten fault for underestimating the krait. She is not innocent by any means.
because he doesn’t know it himself
Yeah. Not wasting a tear on the kraitt. Not a single one doesn’t attack me on sight, enslave and eat every other race. No redeeming value, except as leather for making kraitt skin armour, as Apatia suggests. Hope the devs introduce that as a craft sometime. I’m there.
Don’t like the asura either. To much time spent listening to npc chatter. They all come off as the types Josef Mengela would be proud of, nay, envious. Well, most of them. There are exceptions that I do like. But they just make the rest look worse by comparison. No, that whiny prat in DE isn’t one of them. I’ve wanted to kill her since my first toon.
Oh, and one city doesn’t genocide make. Might wanna look up what that word actually means, before cheaply tossing it around.
You know, they made skin armors of charrs just some time ago.
Yeah, sorry, genocide was exhaggerated. I thought that was the only home for the krait. And that by letting it getting swarmed by the norn, I forced them to exhile.
I don’t think the krait were good people, but we took away from them a way to defend from a common enemy. One thing is to kill a Krait by facing him. One other thung is killing them by stealing something.
Apatia, a vigil norn, should at least address the fact what we are doing is not honorable.

I main Necro in everything I do. Lately I started seeing more of the stun build that absolutely destroys our class. I was waiting for some good counters to come up, but never expected this. Our little access to Stability means we just get tossed around by this build. I know the warriors made this for us, because they always focus me down first in any team fight.
Nice job though. I won’t look at you as free kills anymore. XD

Yes, but each attack your character does you should hear him/her scream “SWAG”.

The thing about your build Phaeton is, after those 10 seconds of Beserker stance, you’re a walking timebomb. The fear chain would eat you alive.
Unfortunately for Necros, they haven’t had much experience dealing with this build yet so it’s going to be very difficult for them at first but when they figure out you don’t have Stability (except from Lyssa), they’ll just rip you to shreds.
You are still dangerous for them (but I’d add stability nevertheless).
The main role of this kind of warrior is to make the necro’s life almost as miserable as yours.XD
Chain stun works wonders against any enemy who can’t block or teleport. If they do, is a bit harder but doable.
The main problem is in group fights you can be easily overwhelmed, for you work on shutting down single enemies.
because he doesn’t know it himself
Maybe I am overreacting, but I played the series of mission about the krait (Wet Work, Intercepting the Orb, Liberating Apatia).
The game wanted to feel sad for the loss of Apatia (making an innocent suffer). Well, I don’t feel sorry for her AT ALL.
Here is why: Apatia helped me taking away the orb from the Krait. The same orb that was the only thing standing between their city and the corruption of Orr.
Apatia got captured and turned into an undead along with the krait. Well, the very thing she heleped doing made her turn into an undead. She kinda deserved it. And we, as player characters, would have deserved it if that would have happened to us.
Tha thing that made fell REALLY bad was the fact that, by taking away the orb, I condemned the krait tower and all its inhabitants to a horrible death.
And it’s kinda a big blow when in the last mission we are attacked by the victims of the curroptions.
Yes, our victims. We let a whole city being wiped out.
However, what I wanted to note is that this part of the personal story was good. Good soundtrack, good atmosphere. And it made you feel involved. But not for the intended reasons: I didn’t feel sorry for Apatia. I felt sorry for all the people in the city. I think some NPC, at some point, should have noticed in one way or the other that what we did wasn’t the honorable thing to do.
Yeah, they were slavers, but we stole from them something they needed to survive. We didn’t even faced them directly. We let someone else do the dirty job, in a cruel way.
Even better: an outraged Krait that dramatically remembers us what we did (with stuff like: “my parents died making me escape”).
What do you think?

(edited by redslion.9675)
It’s just the way the game is, if you lower evades then burst classes will have a much smaller counter, just think of a thief lunging at you with heartseeker below 50%, and your next evade is miles away. Dodging is a way for ALL classes to avoid burst, not just the ones that have block or multiple burst healing skills or stealth or watever.
I think OP means we should lower everything.
Less 1-hit kills, less evade spam, slower pace with more complex mechanics. Or at least reduce AI swarming with some classes.
And effects should be easy to read and not so invasive at the same time.

I use both hammer and mace. It’s a bit extreme in both ways. Monster-like stuns and monster-like lack of mobility.
Each fight is either hopeless for you or for the enemy. No half-ways. No close fights.
I tried to play mace/shield and Greatsword. I like the idea, but when I play it I don’t like it, and at some point I just surrender and walk into death (talking about hotjoin, maybe tournaments are less frustrating).
But yeah, I know how frustrating hammer can be, too.xD

Wait! I want the personal story to be HARDER!
I want it to be a training ground for dungeons and pvp.XD
I have low reflexes and bad camera control, so having hard personal stories could help me get better. Maybe.XD

Maybe you have a better chance by using longbow 3 at point blank range. They probably won’t see that coming (also because longbow animations are normal AKA ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO READ).

The problem I’m seeing with going hammer/mace is that you’ll be as immobile as a guardian but with much less survivability. At least with Hammer/Sword and leg specialist you’ll have a gap closer outside of Earthshaker and Hamstring/Savage leap cripple can help set up Final Thrust. Sword also gives you a fast auto attack combo so when they’re in stability you can focus on pure damage and not mace/hammer’s painfully slow auto attack.
I’m trying to find a way to include Fear Me and Shake it Off in my build because when it comes to clearing a point few skills are as good as Fear Me, it’s also great for setting up Earthshaker/Backbreaker.
Also, with hammer finding the right balance between Power and survival is tricky because if you’re too squishy any misses are devastating, but if you’re too tough you’ll never kill anything. Now in team fights you may not need too but I think you should still be able to hold your own in a 1v1.
I find I’m having a much easier time running warrior’s sprint.
The problem is you have to trick your enemy into fighting you on your terms, and that isn’t always easy.
Second, your efficiency is mostly in 1v1 fights: Skull Crack is one of themain strength of this build, but it’s only single target.
Third, to get the maximum damage you can get, you have to make a perfect rotation, (e.g.: using your high damage skills while the opponent is stunned). This means you have less attention to use for the battle around you. When people bring their armies of pets, minions and AoE spam, it’s gonna be a tough fight.
From my limited experience as a bad stunlock warrior, your best fights are the small ones on side nodes. Or the cannon in Skyhammer. Here, cc is also a defensive mechanism, because the enemy won’t fight back during that period.
On the upside, I think mace burst is more reliable than final thrust. And it’s instant, meaning it’s almost unavoidable (and you can stop a kitten thief spamming evades).

You need to fight them in tight places. Their Phase Retreat won’t be able to bring them far enough to act as a stunbreaker.
Maybe this will help.
But yeah, second I think you can’t play as a glass cannon. The first moments they can avoid most of your damage if they need to. While still damaging you. You have to live past those moments.

Ah, they don’t work? Well, in the mess of battle I never managed to test that.
Ok then: either I take them by surprise, or I run when they use well of darkness. Got it.XD

Well, Well of Darknes isn’t istant, so I can still take the jump on a necro.
Then I can use block.
But yeah, blind fields work like invulnerability fields for warriors.XD

This is the build I’m using right now, and with a lot of succes!
Staff / Scepter & Dagger
Rabit Amulet
30 / 30 / 10 / 0 / 0
Spite: IV X XI
Curses: IV IX XII
Death magic: II
4x Runes of the nightmates + 2x Runes of the Lyssa
Sigil of earth on scepter / Sigil of Corruption on staff and daggerEven stun warriors are not much of a problem. I run Well of Darkness and Spectral walk. This takes care of that. My only weakness is vs Necro. Also engi’s are hard to deal with.
What warriors did you meet? one stunbreaker and some blind never stopped me.
Even if I admit they’d give the enemy the time to focus me down.
