Retaliation != Vigor.

They are both very powerful effects.

So is Protection.
So is 25 stacks of Might.

How about we give… Engineer a trait that gives them 25 stacks of Might for 5 seconds on crit?

Tell me, where is that trait on warrior?

However, engi has better boon stack than warrior. Any boon warrior gets, engi gets almost as easily. Maybe might is a kitteneaper for warriors to obtain, even if harder to maintain.

Not saying engi is stronger, but however I think they should just swap out spiked armor and stuff like on every class for something better.

My idea is that Healing Signet itself is badly designed: it’s either the go-to heal or a huseless heal, dependingon its HPS. If it’s the go-to heal, it becomes cheesy.

I think its effectiveness shouldn’t be reduced, but its working should be entirely changed.

Healing Signet sucks.

No, not saying it’s not strong or something like thakittens

design sucks. Two things can happen:

A) It has a lower HPS than other skills. This means no one will use it, as it was before. The fact that it heals you since the starting of a fight is not a great reason: most fight last long enough to make the advantage negligible. And other skills offer more advantages.

B) It has a higher dps than other skills. This means many people will use it. But HS is a boring skill with vague counterplay. And people feel it’s bad for the meta.

Conclusion: change the skill into something completely different. Toggle in-toggle out, a banner, I don’t know.

I wanted to add only to prove the underwhelming delivery of our personal stories.

Trahearne should be our puppet, our sidekick, our fodder that we can use to save ourselves during our personal story.

Not. Our. Leakitten lease have him stand down from the leader role and hand us his sword. I would much rather lead my troop into battle than him.

Exactly because he is your puppet he has to be the commander. If things go bad, he’ll take responsibility.

It would be cool if you gave him orders and remembered him that he is Grand Marshal as long as we need him.

Warrior is a Warrior, of course
Every one that go to War or conflict, and make use of some habilitie to defend a cause or an ideal can be considered an Warrior.
No matter if melee or ranged, with sword or rifle, with heavi armor or just dodging.
For example, an american soldier that fights for his country, his people or his life style.

I think all classes in this game is an Warrior, but the gw2 Warrior is a mix of some tipes of soldier.

And the main goal to Warrior is defend a cause, an ideal, something that judge important. Then gw2 warrior is lacking of some mechanic focused in this point.
Even a terrorist defend an ideal, and put his life in risk for this ideal.
- Who go to some place to just to kill isn’t warrior, is a mercenari, a murderer.

Actually, adrenaline just increase one extra weapon skill to warrior. If traited can grants extra crit chance, extra damage, or same regeneration (no more that 2 of these 3 at same time).

The excelent way to improve Warriors and make more fun are make actual Juggernaut (Rampage Transform) the base body to Warrior(without those stats, of course), allowing him to use fisical skills (rampage skills and fisical skills) for free choise, without weapon.
- Warrior start the game with all fisical skills (martial arts) unloked, and could unlock weapon skills as actual mode.
- Warrior could have an extra mechanic that allow him to stow his 2 weapon set and fight without weapon, making use of fisical skills (fisical and juggernaut).
- Adrenaline could have more weight, impoving Skill (efficiency, duration and range), body (base stats, health regeneration and endurance regeneration), and urgency (action speed and action cooldown).
- The actual fisical skills in utilitie menu could be replaced for another tipe of skills.

I think gw2 warriors would more fun and more like true warrior.

OR combine One weapon with unarmed combat.

However, what about these guys?

Those were professional soldiers, coming from the worst places to try and raise themselves from misery or die trying. They don’t properly foght for a cause. Are they warriors or not?

(I’m asking, because I think they are pretty kitten and brutal, and I’d like a Landsknecht-based armor in GW2)

Lol bud I play the same build so I know its strengths and don’t die to that XD. I feel immune to everything with that build its so easy. Love how much you guys trying to defend it when in truth most warrs know it needs nerf (or are under the delusion they are good at the game). and no build on warrior was cheesy btw until we got unnecessary buffs watch how OP warriors become in power meta. Its going to be funny :P

I need to find a decent tanky build which is not easy mode.

When I stopped playing (didn’t left, just wasn’t on a computer good enough to run GW2) at least Mace/Shield + GS wasn’t so popular, so I could say: “Yeah, it’s kinda boring, but I’m experimenting with my build, so AT LEAST I’m not total cheese man.”xD

Now things are different. And I never liked Glass cannon warrs. Should I stop playing warrior or is there something power based I can go with?

Yea you could try lb/gs 0/30/20/0/20 with zerk ammy its not cheese build but is semi tanky. Run zerk stance,balanced or dolyak signet (run dolyak if you want to have good toughness, and frenzy is what I like but bulls charge is cool too(3rd slot is your choice) you could use might duration runes I think it is 2x hoelbrak 2x fire and 2x Balthazar.and try staking might like that. I think you could get up to 16 stacks after hb and whirl not sure.

Other things: sigil of battle, for great Justice. You can go all the way up to 25 stacks.XD

Btw also see people use hammer mace shield which is just as cheesy so you can’t say its gs that makes it OP.

Wait a minute…

I played Mace/hammer since April (not only that and not only warrior, but you get the idea).

Nobody complained about it. At most they said it sucked.

From my experience, gameplay with that build hasn’t changed much.

NOW it has become cheesy?

Or is it just the Signet and Berserker Stance?

Nerf Sigil of Paralization instead?

Why do we have to Crowd Control someone to deal damage where every other class does not?

Obviously Skull Crack is powerful, but its ST. Most of the complaints of it come from Asura which have a different animation then all the other races. Where if I use it on my Sylvari for example, its very easy to see because it has a unique animation.

If I use it on an Asura, it looks exactly like an auto-attack swing.

Every class has to crowd control in order to do damage or in order for the damage to stick. For Necros it’s the Fear chain, for Engies it’s the knockbacks, for Thieves it’s that nasty BasV.

Yeah.. whatever what skills are those?

I don’t know any thief skill that has a huge windup+animation.

Necro attacks all look the same.

Engineer grenades all look the same.

……..

To deal damage as an engi I never had to cc anyone.

As a warrior, without cc I have to be sure the enemy has a REALLY good reason to be in my reach, like staying on the point.

Think about it this way; in any fight, you don’t want your opponent healing or else he just resets the damage you just did. This is where CC comes into play. The reason a Necro fear chains is because he doesn’t want you healing or cleansing (or attacking him) and that’s the same reason an Engie would do it.

I actually fought a condi Warrior who built around combining CC chains with condi pressure. When it worked, it worked really well.

Well, yeah, I was talking about simply being in reach. But it’s also because if I play with cc weapons, I need cc to deal damage. And I still prefer not to chase the enemy around, so I’d rather engage in narrow points to negate teleports.

But I feel like I had an easier time with pistol engi about landing damage (rifle is a bit harder).

But if you talk about negating heals, that’s a problem for all players.

You know what?

We don’t need to nerf it. We need to CHANGE healing signet.

What about a skill that has to be toggled, and that heals for much more than now while toggled, but increases the damage you receive by a lot?

Example:

Signet of Gamble.

While active, heals you for 1000 per second, but increases all the damage (condi damage included) you take by 50%/100%. You can toggle/untoggle it only once every 5/10 seconds.

This might add more complextiy to our gameplay.

That is good point about the skullcrack HB combo, you are rooted throughout the duration of the HB and open to everyone else on focusing you down. So obviously this is not the best teamplay build for a warrior.

It’s a build made to seek small fights around the battle.

That’s why GS is so popular: it’s a very mobile weapon, and this helps if you have to roam side points, looking for a fight to pick.

Ask yourself a question- Do you want to play a game in which you can just keep foe in stun till they are dead?
Because with mace+shield/gs or mace +shield/hammer you can do it easily (esspecialy with hammer).
I fought some new necromancer in spvp. I just stun locked him till he was dead. I was happy about that. Then i thought what that poor guy was thinking. He just sat there in front of his monitor and watch me do my chain cc. He had no stun breaker or its was on cd. And what can he do with stun breaker but no stabilty agianst that amount of cc. Nothing. He could log out and be done with the game.

Because they were more like thieves with big swords.

I seek your wisdom: what do you think about a might stacking build based on power?

I was thinking of something like this:

After 30 secs of battle, I have:

Signet of Rage – 5 stacks of might

9 stacks from sigil of battle (each stack lasts 20*1.6=32 seconds -> It will proc 3 times before it ends.)

For Great Justice! – 3 stacks of might

Versatile power (each might stack will last 16 seconds, you can swap every 5 seconds… probably you won’t, but I didn’t count the fact I’ll have 6 might stacks with FGJ 60% of the time, so I guess I can round this up) – 3 stacks

Combo field – 3 stacks.

Total: 5 + 9 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 23 stacks. 2900 power. Around +50% damage more than other power builds (RAW damage: this build still has low critical)

Slashing power helps by adding even more damage.

Amulet is just what I usually run, but probably it’s not the best option. Problem is you need to have some staying power.

Problem is: if you fing a s/d thieves things might get nasty. Even if you can counter them with Combustive Shot, they might just steal your stacks and go destroy someone else. You losing your stacks is not so bad. A thief with 20 stacks definetely is.

What do you think? Is it a decent idea?

I tried the same idea before when Signet of Might was given out 5 stacks of might. I was using Zerker amulet. The only weird part is that I tried to compare hundred-blade’s dps with 5 stacks of might and 25 stacks of might, and the result is disappointed. (Same, sometimes 5 stacks of might is greater than 25 stacks.) I don’t know if there is a bug for it or A-net intended to set a dps limit on Greatsword. So from that experience I believe might stacking only good for condition damage especially burning. Also if I’m not wrong, Sigil of Battle and Sigil of Fire have an Internal-Cooldown, which may result that you wasted one Sigil effect on your weapon if you use both of them at same time.(only on different weapon that needs to swap). I saw the PAX warrior that was doing the same mistake, I don’t know if he was intended to do it or just some lapse decision.

However, my idea was not to touch hundred blades and to use all other skills and auto attack. This idea came into my minde while I was trying to play roamer with soldier amulet. At some point, during a big teamfight on keep, full of minions and enemies, I ended up having 25 stacks of might. I lasted for several minutes, slashing around and wreacking some havoc.

I found that kinda amusing, so I decided I’ll try this next time I play.

That’s not an entirely accurate comparison, now is it?

A) Signet is passive regen, always happening, whereas Surge is an active effect. It’s easier to burst down someone who has to activate an effect rather than one who is passively recovering health

B) I believe (but am not positive) you’re comparing Surge at full adrenaline to Signet – Signet is not reliant on adrenaline level, so you’re comparing Surge akittens best to signet base.

C) Surge has an activation time, and can be interrupted.

D) Surge happens as an effect all at once – poison at the right time and they lost 33% of their heal. Signet happens gradually over time, so poison is less effective. Coupled with how high condition cleansing is prioritized in the current meta, and signet is vastly harder to counter with poison than healing surge is.

A) that is less important the longer the battle goes. And if you are bursting someone down in 5-10 seconds, Surge will be better than Signet.

B) Considering warriors build now are heavily reliant on bursts, building up adrenaline is easy.

C) Interrupts are not so frequent, and warriors have different way to overcome it. It’s hardly an issue.

D) Yes, but that applies also to Healing Signet: I can wait poison out with surge, or cleanse it with Signet of Stamina. I can’t do the same with Signet: each second I spend with poison on, it’s a second my healing is reduced.

E) You can enter the fight with a full adrenaline bar.

Really, how is it people get so frustrated with this build? It really only holds is own as a roaming build in WvW. In ANY other setting it is deemed subpar. That’s why it is pretty much never used in higher end tPvP. Any GS build in tPvP is used mainly for cleave damage and mobility, rather then SC+100B. There are just too many counters.

It has a lower skill cap then other extremely high skill cap warrior builds, so what? You can play a mesmer and faceroll across the keyboard to completely obliterate any newbie, and they will actually even think you’ve got skill.

So the proper way to nerf Mace/shield + GS is to not nerf it at all.

Seriously. How can we take this serious game serious after a nerf to this build unless other ‘issues’ get huge nerfs?

Longbow greatsowd zerk and axe shield greatsword was way harder than any of these easy builds.

Actually, I hope those min max kinds of build are gone and will never come back in tpvp. I hope there can be different styles.

I HATE glass cannon concept that much.

I’ve always been attracted to warriors in these games. I feel like just a tough guy/girl who beats stuff up with weapons and doesn’t need any of that mana/magic horse manure. Same reason why most of my first alts are thief/rogue based classes. I’ve always been a melee guy. I just never was a good caster player in WoW, but I do enjoy my Mesmer in this game.

I’m not very good in WvW though. I mostly just use support stuff like knockdowns and banners and let my guildies do the killing xD.

Well, the only class in this game who doesn’t use magic AT ALL is the engineer (signets are magic).

The warrior is the second last magic user.

Should just make everyone play a Ele until they make the rest of the classes more like Ele.

You know where you need a brain, where your attacks are better telegraphed and easier to avoid and require comboing with CC to pull off.

Engineer could easily eat most of the Stun/100B combo I think.

You can get some very heavy Anti Stun crap on that class

Both of those class counter the other’s damage dealing: warriors cleanse many conditions, engineers reduce a lot of damage while stunned. And both classes have high hps even if non-bunker builds.

Warrior might have a bit higher edge if built to deal damage with sword normal skills.

I don’t think I could go back to other MMORPGS now. I am still very happy with the game. For the first time I felt like build crafting was something important in a game, and you weren’t just one clone.

The combat system has novelty that works.

Even mace probably has highter dps than gs in current builds on chain.

Not autoattack. It might look like this, but it’s slower. But you can pack quite a punch while the enemy is stunned.

Engineers ate not hard countered by cc warriors. Engineers have access to lots of conditions to cover poison, multiple blinds, knockbacks and 53% less DMG when stunned. Do you all play these classes or just whine about them.

Well, mace+GS vs protection injection is actually an interesting mechanic: protection lasts from 3 seconds (usually people will have 20 points in alchemy -> 3.6 seconds duration). This means you can use another stun / daze to proc it, wait it off, then use Skull Crack. But that means you’ll have just a 1.4 seconds window to land Skull Crack. If the engi knows it, he might try to static shot you as soon as his protection wears off, or dodge out of melee range.

Ideally, that means that protection injection is a counter strategy that lets the enemy use a counterstrategy which admits a counterstrategy too.

Great points but u negate the blind from FT which can be done while stunned. No warr will neutralize a point or kill me solo. Now, if he brought a dps friend, I’m boned cause he can incapacitate me enough for the other to burn me down but he also has to contend w/ smoke bomb, static shock, and equally as important, my pseudo passive heals from backpack regen, elixir infused bombs, and the EG5. My points in alchemy trait line when fighting melee is acidic coating, protection injection and backpack regen. Acidic coating = more free blinds…

As far as the stun and my protection time, I’m either running w/ runes of the forge or runes of the grove/earth to give me up time on my protection and both come w/ built in protection, forge for 10 secs @ 15 percent. Not including the other 30% boon duration from alchemy line.

Now before someone says, “well u have to come up with a special build to fight cc wars”, I’ll say that this is my default spvp/tpvp build. I change up the alchemy line to switch acidic coating for AR when fighting condi classes (that’s another engie whine session there but whatev). I’m not saying warrs aren’t OP, I personally don’t think they are but I’m no authority. I just don’t think they’re as GOD MODE as people state they are unless u’re certain classes.

Can a single blind negate 100b? If yes, that’s cool!

However, it’s all fine, as long as people don’t find out how strong GS auto attack is.XD

One thing:

at 300 healing power warriors get:

Healing Surge – 10270 hp, using it at full health every 30 seconds is kinda easy

Healing Surge – 10270/30=342 hps
Healing signet – 407 hps

And take into account you will suffer every second of poison with it (and no, we don’t cleanse it every second).

65 hps difference is what makes this op? Fine, nerf it, I guess warriors will still be dangerous without it, if they were before.

65 hps is the different for all healing power values.

Rofl, I’ve been laughing at the Warriors on their forums arguing for weeks now that they’re perfectly fine because no one uses them in SPvP and I told them “Just because SPvP is filled with idiots who don’t catch on for month’s doesn’t mean your class is fine, I’ve created builds that they’ve picked up month’s later, whined about, despite counters already showing up and then gotten nerfed because of it”

SPvP will never be on the forefront of creating new builds, because its a dumbed down version of World vs World….People find a meta and stick to it not willing to lose their “ranking” while in World vs World, you’re more likely to lose fights and try something new.

Soooo… even longbow/hammer is OP now?

Or is the problem about healing signet?

407 heal per sec with heal signet, 396 heal per sec with adrenal health at 3 adrenal bars.

It’s 803 hp per sec.

Unless there is a bug, Adrenal health heals every 3 seconds.

There’s a bright side: the more the meta is condi oriented, the more powerful Automated Responce gets.

At least in spvp.

Imagine: whole enemy team condi oriented → Automated Response text becomes: “You become invulnerable while under 25% health”.XD

If you get Moa’ed in a 1vs1, you are doomed, unless enemy Mesmer is extremely bad.

Well, this if I need to fight. If not, I usually manage to escape, unless I’m heavily outnumbered.

Yeah, turning a 2vs2 fight into a 2vs1 + chicken is absolutely useless and unwanted.
Like Moa can’t change the output of a fight in just a single cast.

Guardian tomes are definitely better.

I love the Asura animations. There’s so much momentum and ferocity in their movements.

Not to mention, they look awesomely ridiculous if you pick some of the more over-the-top (shoulderpads!) juggernaut type armors. Instead of just looking ridiculous, like Norn and Humans.

How can a norn look ridicolous with a juggernaut armor?

I mean… IMHO Norns look cool with Orrian chestguard.

However…

IMHO gw2 should learn something from Dark Souls: armors can be realistic while looking really cool.
