Oh wait hold on, thieves are the only class in the game with no cooldowns on their skills so they can spam it as much as they like, yayyy. Also they can go stealth whenever they like, so I’m blind, PLUS I can’t see them plus their backstab does more damage than any of my single attacks all of which have cooldowns. Woohoo. I think I’ll start playing as my thief more often now that I think of it

Hammer is one of the hardest weapons in the game, I’d consider it the superior team fighter. That being said Skullcracker is still good for getting back and forth quickly. The build apt posted is a build for a Power Meta. It has NO condition removal to speak of, and even uses Healing Signet with Berserker gear which makes no sense.

Say what you will about the builds I’ve posted, but they’ve been proven effective in this meta. Running a bad build won’t make you better.

I played it. Now it’s too mainstream.

Is tanky, can live with condi removal, has a good damage output and is almost cheese-free (you can swap out healing signet). And you have to work to keep your might stacks high.

You deal almost as much damage as a berserk warrior, but you have to watch all the boon stealing, so you have to pick your fight. It’s a bit of a trade off. But even Mace/GD warrs will fear you, once you spike them with the LongBro.XD

It’s not as hardcore as apt’s one, but this might work in tourneis even now, I guess.

trick is to just kill yourself for making a skullcrack gs warrior with healing signet. Ez. jk jk that was my rage for the watered down warrior class talking. kitten kitten . If ur skullcrack then ur power, if ur power go rifle, if your cond go for LB.

NEVER go rifle. In spvp is inferior in every way. LB is better.
Never listen to a power ranger for advice… they tend to forget we don’t have access to megazords. :P

Hey, isn’t a death sentence to play such a build in a condi meta?
I’d put out 20 points from strength or 10 from it and 10 from disci and put 20 into def for cleansing ire. And I’d use Berserker Stance or Signet of Stamina.OR you can man up 100%, as some say, use Mending and become an elitist jerk. Or a free kill. Or both.XD

I didn’t reat the whole thread, but I was surprised that Zhaitan was not named too, because it seems those characters were developed by the same person. But lets just state the facts:

1.) Trahearne is in most missions totally weak and of no use, but he tells everyone what he has to do.
2.) He has no leadership and no character at all.
3.) Most people I talked with wished he’d be erased from the game.
4.) He is totally inferior to every other character in the game in style of concept etc.

Those are the main problems, but lets say something about Zhaitan:

1.) The end fight is long and a stupid bashing of key 2, nothing else. Only the animation is fairly cool.
2.) You always get to know what a kitten he’d be, but in the end, he got shot down by simple cannons and nothing else. As the whole story progresses towards Orr and Zhaitan, it is a bad joke.
3.) You always get informations about him, and most of the story is by far harder than the Boss himself. Meaning he is a sore loser commanding a lot of kitten undeads that are sometimes brutal. But in fact, even the temples of Orr that are before Arah, are by far harder than Zhaitan. Every Champ in the starter areas is by far harder than Zhaitan lol.
4.) And at least, what is said about HIM really? Just a dragon that wakes up, raises some undeads and needs to be killed. Wow, gr8. And about anything else I mean…? In GW1, we had the Lich, we had Shiro, we had Abaddon and we had at last the great destroyer and all of them were kittenes themselves with really unique histories. What is it here, really?

You understand the point I am trying to show? It is about the whole conception of character that is so much flawed here in GW2, especially for the end content. It is more like some kind of Arcade-Game, showing that this and that boss needs to be killed. In fact, the start of the story was by far more interesting than the end of the story. All those characters of the different orders, even the dungeon stories, everything was more interesting than Trahearne or Zhaitan would ever be.

Both of them lack the kitten, it is not really believable that they’d command such armies as they do. In fact, you are most likely more interested in the story missions before Zhaitan than in the story mission with Zhaitan himself. It is the same fail as with Trahearne, and therefore the same mistake that is shown through the whole story.

Not only that, the dragon is so vulnerable its supply systems are simple undead. Which he can recreate.

Seriously, was this guy a menace? Charrs should be MUCH more afraid of Ascalonian Ghosts.

This is build I am trying out but I am not going with battle on greatswod because hb it self can stack up to 16 stacks from both forceful greatsword and sigl of strength. Plus you have short temper where you gain 3 stacks of might when you are blocked which is really strong coupled with your elite might stacks its quite a lot. The main goal is to max my eviscerates. I dropped the might stacking runes because might duration really is not worth it with so much boon stripping. sigl and my mights base duration is not to long so I just went with scholars for dps. I know maybe droping soldiers will be lot harder. But, it will reward you with some high crits. What I like about zerk warr is makes me vary of my surroundings so I do not get insta gibbed.

Longbow currently is better than axe but axe is devastating as a gank utility it can 1 shot eles and with might signet if you have reaction time to pop it right when they pop ageis or have block up and evis its unexpected and people usually will get hit by it and you can really put lots of pressure. Only problem right now these kind of builds that go full zerk are not good for team play because of condi meta but if that ever changes back to power these builds will become a lot more prevalent (and when regen on warrior gets nerfed along with stuns).

I didn’t try my build much, but I felt like boon stripping was a rare sight.

Your build looks kinda hardcore, and I’ll try it, even if I don’t like the flavor of a GC warrior (just… a squishy guy with a heavy armor? Weeeeeiiiiird XD).

IMHO dueling is fun, but if one player is melee, the other is ranged, i feel like it will be unbalanced either way:

If you are dueling on a narrow point, the melee guy has an advantage.

If you are dueling on an open field, the ranged guy has an advantage. Especially with teleports.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like this?

(I admit I’m not patient enough to play duels… I tend to freak out or just stop thinking while fighting if either I mess the start or fight for too long :P)

Currently, burst skills only go on recharge if the attack connects. If a burst skill is evaded/blocked or misses through blind or you misjudged the range, your adrenaline stays full.

Which is stupid since it makes dodging pretty much ineffective since you can just pretty much spam Earthshaker/Skull Crack until either hits after stability is down and one of the factors that’s making warriors easy mode.

Whoever said I wanted Cleansing Ire to proc if it you missed? If you fail you fail. Warriors need to man up.

Well, I didn’t see many warrs moaning about this idea. Even if some bursts are designed to fail. Why do you think we are all spoiled children? I play warrior because I like the flavor. I can’t play Eles, because they talk too much (toons always blubbering about elements… shut up!XD). I can’t force myself to like guardians, thieves or mesmers. And engies bore me (I use one in pve, but I always felt like I had more fun crafting builds with warriors, even before the buffs).

And call me a noob, but I like tanky builds with GS and LB. And LB burst can’t miss. So change what you like, I don’t care.

And then you’d have to reword the whole trait. And maybe make dodges harder to obtain.

And about traits benefitting from a full adrenaline bar… nobody uses them anymore. Too far in traitlines that are either rarely used (Berserker’s Power) or in outclassed by much more useful stuff (Heightened Focus, which is outclassed by Burst Mastery) The only one used is Adrenal Health, and no warrior cares about it.

Might stacking build. Two (hopefully) not-so-op weapons. Only cheese: healing signet and Berserker’s Stance, but I bet it would do just fine even with Surge and Signet of Stamina.

I used two sigils of battle for the following reason: I can make up to 9 stacks just from it, but if I had just one sigil of battle I’d have to swap weapons every 5s to maintain them. In theory, that’s doable. In reality, not really. Expecially with two weapons that are put together to work in different situations. With two sigil you won’t have to worry that much.

You can build up to 20 stacks of might pretty easily, but you might need some time to make them. That’s why I use soldier’s Amulet: I feel too squishy with Berserker. And I still have 40% crit chance (You can easily keep Fury up all the time)

Obviously, you have to avoid enemy S/d thieves for they might become a pretty big problem. Maybe you can keep them at bay with fire AoE and try to overpower them. But the thief might decide to leave you there and go killing someone else with those stacks.

At least it’s different than Mace/GS build.

Hey, You should switch greatsword to sigl of strength its a lot stronger I was recently testing and made a might stack evis build that is really good. I could get off 10-12k evis’s constantly. But, I would switch out the amulet to zerks otherwise strength sigl will be bad with that build.

I tried with Berserker’s amulet and I felt too squishy. Or maybe I just had bad luck. However the problem is you need some staying power to be able to build all the might you need. And the damage difference is not that high: 22% damage.

With soldier you have 44% crit chance and + 75% crit damage. With Berserker you have 70% and + 90%. To calculate the damage bonus coming from crit, you use the following formula: crit chance/100 * (crit damage/normal damage – 1). To see the difference in damage you have to make (1+bonus damage with Berserker Setup)/(1+ bonus damage with Soldier) – 1.

Considering I’m also tight on utility, I really like that bonus armor (also because I always like armored characters more). But maybe it’s a bit noob-friendly this way, and I should change that.

I didn’t know Sigil of Strength had been buffed, though. Last time I tried it, it was inferior to Battle in every occasion, but now the cooldown has been reduced it’s not.

BUT

let’s do some math: you have +60% might duration. That means each stack will last 16 seconds. Sigil of Battle can stack a maximum of 9 stacks all the time, with somne build up.

This means that to equal Sigil of Battle, Sigil of Strength must activate at least 9 times every 16 seconds. This means you have to deal at least 27 (= 9/0,3) crits every 16 seconds. With 70% crit chance you have to make 38 hits every 16 seconds on average.
This is not impossible, especially if you are cleaving more than one enemy per strike. But in such a situation, you’d probably be already at 25 stacks thanks to Forceful Greatsword, even with battle sigil.

About weapons…

What I like about Longbow and Greatsword is that you can do everything with them.

I have spike (GS # 5, GS #3, LB # 3), AoE and cleave damage and I don’t suffer too much from gap creators thanks to GS. And if things go rough with kiters, I can keep constant pressure with LB autoattack, which becomes kinda dangerous with enough might. And GS autoattack is awesome.

And I am kind of a Berserk fanboy, that’s why I chose GS.

Axe might be a bit trickier, especially in 1v1s. AAs are harder to use, for they rely on landing the whole chain.

But might stacking setup works with any weapon combination.

You have arguably the most powerful slot 6 heal ingame (complimented by your heavy armor, blocking capability, high mobility and high single target CC -unless you use a hammer in which case high aoe CC-)

Just for precision’s sake, engineer’s Healing Turret and Medkit have a higher hps. I don’t know about other skills.

Got something similiar but i used to run gs+rifle (i know rifle sux, and the combination itself is even worse) howered i tried a lb today and giving it a shot to see how it goes. Problem is its lacking a burst, and bc i prefer to run melee+range wep over 2 melee i don’t thinking about picking a sword or axe for offset

I guess i will try some combination with axe/shield (i like underdog weps). Tried a mace as main wep and dindt went that bad due to pommel>skull crack>chain “combo”

I use it in spvp, so maybe things are different. But LB gives you even more might and #3 Arcing Arrow. Not to forget you have a good condi damage with might. Same reason with GS: provides might, and is actually a good stand-alone damage weapon: autoattack deals good damage and Rush lands if you use it in melee.

I stopped playing that kind of build because it’s mainstream now. When I played it, there were few like it and I could destroy people thinking warrs were target practice. (I also used Rune of Melandru and a bit more offensive setup with double Endure Pain, which gave me an edge against other similar warriors)

At that time, recognizing the potential of the build was the thing rewarded. Now it’s not. And now that it’s something expected, I tend to apologize to the people I kill and try to find other solutions. I don’t have good reaction times or tactical awareness, so I have to create a stronger build than my enemy (I want to enforce the verb CREATE: I NEVER, ever copied a build), especially if he is of the same kinde. Someone might say this is skill too, as long as I succeed at making something that works better than others doing the same thing.

But yes, without heavy condi removal many classes could just perma cripple a warrior and running away while spamming ranged autoattack. That would NOT be a good thing if we had deathmatch. And people might be able to negate all warrior’s gap closers by strafing.

IMHO they should restore RTL. At that time it seemed like a big deal, but it wasn’t the main problem. Maybe the fact that you are invulnerable while using it is a bit of a concern. If it is, make RTL movement faster and make it last less, so that you can still cover the same distance.

Stability is too forgiving, so is aegis. Just my thoughts, don’t rage. I really, really dislike the abundance of stability that certain professions can bring. Some professions bring stability, condi removal, reflect, and aegis all in one and that’s OP. With stun break affecting knockback, why even try to CC anymore? It’s too easy to spam your way out of an interrupt or CC. That same profession (guardian) brings a warding and don’t forget ele’s stunlock field. These skills basically make stability too OP to be ignored.

You have never fought a hammer/mace warrior, have you? Some might say that other classes should have as much cc removal as a guardian

Many warriors are asking to spend their adrenaline even if the attack misses: many times they are more interested into using Cleansing Ire to surviva than actually hitting someone, expecially when focused.

1. I got kited to hell by mesmers, eles and especially rangers with entangling roots. While this might be due to my lack of practice, I recall that I used to trait for “mobile strikes”. Wouldnt that trait be more useful than “warrior sprint” (wich got mentioned here quite often) in any case? Is there any other way of avoiding being kited?

Well you know, this build has flaws, or it would be broken. This warrior is pretty bad against ranged power builds that have many stunbreaks. That is almost the definition of a Mesmer (2 or 3 stun breakers, 2 invulnerabilities, massive ranged dps) ! So yes, Mesmers own Skullcrackers badly.

For the same reasons I think it’s normal you also lose against Engies and non-spirit Rangers. Thieves are a better matchup I think because they either need to get close with their berserker build and a single stun might be enough to kill them, or they play more ranged and use condis which is a something you can endure.

Well, being kited to hell happens less often in tournament matches. At some point the enemy has to get to the point. And you’ll be there.

Kiting is less effective if you don’t have to kill the kiter.

We need more builds.

We need better, harder to play builds. We need some kind of ladder for power and complexity.

The problem is that many complex mechanics are to weak compared to the effort you have to take. That means anyone will make more mistakes than what he earns. Thus making easier builds more effective.

I don’t know how, but axe should be stronger in pvp. It is a very limited weapon: low cc and low mobility. We need to retain the weaknesses, but making the weapon worth them.

Maybe that’s the problem with warriors: instead of reducing their weaknesses, they should have med the strengths work overcoming the former, even whil trying to maintain a not too high level of frustration.

Well, you can counter warrior’s damage by using Rune of Melandru, thus giving them a harder time bursting you down (they won’t be able to land full HB anymore).

Take down a warrior… well, that’s a different story.

Or there might be other kind of balance, like ground based.

Example: in TF2 the Heavy is unstoppable. IF he can fight by his own terms. But he needs spin-up time to fire. And has a very low range, is extremely smal and has a great hitbox. The Sniper has low health and low damage in direct fights. But he is the Heavy’s bane, because of the precision rifle.

To kill a sniper or any other enemy, a Heavy has to flank him first. No matter the enemy he faces, there is one particular situation that will se him victorious. Same goes for the Sniper. Each one tries to force on the other the best fight for him.

Hey that’s what I use!

lolol it’s a cheap build too though. rush -> whirlwind attack can disengage from practically everything and longbow utility is pretty nice.

I use it with healing signet , adrenal healing, and banner regen together with defense banner, dolayk signet, and berserker stance and it’s pretty easy to play.

So you don’t like to kill people. Ok, at least use Banner of Discipline.

I get most of my points from defending/neutralizing/capping points. I don’t get a lot of kills but the score is still enough to put me at MVP for many games.

Also you’re pretty much handicapping yourself if you don’t use healing signet in its current implementation, it’s just so good it’s ridiculous.

First advice: use Rune of Melandru.

-25% stun time means Skull Crack will stun you for 3 seconds, right?

Last time I played, to swap weapons you need 0.5 seconds (seems like a bit of “lag”, even if IMHO it shouldn’t be removed) If Skull Crack only lasts 3 seconds, warriors have only 2.5 seconds of 100 blades. Remember that the most of the damage is dealt by the last part of it. It will probably be around 50% damage reduction.

This means Skull Crack → Hundred Blades combo will be much less effective.

Alas I have no idea about universal ways to kill them faster that are as easy as this.

I think it’s OP as well so I don’t touch my monster build anymore. “Longbow/Hammer” I don’t even want to mention Mace shield GS build because it’s very bad…

Hey that’s what I use!

lolol it’s a cheap build too though. rush -> whirlwind attack can disengage from practically everything and longbow utility is pretty nice.

I use it with healing signet , adrenal healing, and banner regen together with defense banner, dolayk signet, and berserker stance and it’s pretty easy to play.

So you don’t like to kill people. Ok, at least use Banner of Discipline.

And don’t use healing Signet, then. You don’t want to get used to what yourself said it was OP, right?

Healing signet is so crazy compared to other classes passive healing. You have to spend 20 pts in blood as a necro just to get 100 health on crit attacks, warrior gets passive 400 per second, unbelievable.

You know that HS occupies a Healing Skill slot, right? RIGHT?

Please, don’t compare it to HPS gained from traits. Compare it to HPS gained from traits PLUS HPS from your healing skill.

passive healing is passive healing, regardless of where it comes from. Shall I compare it to the thiefs healing signet(which also occupies a healing slot RIGHT??!11). Thief signet heals 100 per strike, meaning you have to actually hit something, and you lose healing if you’re CC’d, being kited, etc. To match the healing from warrior signet, a thief has to strike his target 4 times per second! lol

Now that you mention healing from traits, warriors also have passive healing from traits dont they? Passive healing from adrenalin is what exactly? Im not sure but ill bet its better than 40 healing per attack and 100 per attack that necros have to spend 20 pts in blood and two trait skills on.

No, Adrenal health is worse than 40 healing per attack. That would heal a lot with smoldering arrow. And Whirlwind attack. And if there’s one thing we have always been good at, that is cleaving.

Add some cleave and the thief can make 4 strikes per seconds. But I agree that means they keep staying in battle.

But you missed my point. You wanto to compare it to other #6 slots? Be my guest. We all know Healing Signet has one of the highest hps in the game among all #6 heals (but is outclassed by engi Healing Turret and Medkit, which are much better designed and fun skills).

But don’t compare it to healing gathered from traits. IT’S NOT THE SAME THING.

If healing Signet healed around 100 hps, it should be a utility slot. Not a #6 skill.

Sure the balance was worse, build diversity and even class diversity made this game look like sandbox game, but man i would have to say it was more enjoyable…and more skill based.

Are we sure reaction time based = skill based?

Shouldn’t there be more qualities needed?

(like the ability to surprise your opponent with a build you made they didn’t expect, for example?)

Not that 100b+Frenzy stuff people used to run. I could kill them with an engi bunker, designed to give up ALL damage in favor of healing.

People use Balanced Stance instead of Dolyak Signet when they have enough armor.

For instance, if you play with Soldier’s Amulet and have 2800+ armor you’ll barely feel Dolyak’s boost.

And not to forget you can take Endure Pain and Defy Pain, for immunity to power damage 20% of the time traited. (Endure and Defy Pain last 6 seconds each traited, 12 seconds total every 60 seconds)

It’s not cheesy, because it takes skills to play. That’s why a lot of people think hammer is not viable because it’s hard to play, they choose easier way to play like mace shield, but it’s useless in team-fight, as I said its a self-fish build, and cheesy.

Is this real? GW2 does have better PvP. World of Warcraft has had 10 years to get established and polish its PvP and Blizzard still can’t get it right. Of course its going to have higher player base because of its name, and its name alone. “World of Warcraft”.

I understand what you are saying though, no reason to hate on other games, we are all gamers here, but the facts are facts, Warcraft was so big that’s why WoW has so many players, and those that just keep playing and playing.

The problem is that WoW structure is outdated, more than old. That is why they can’t change its structure more than much. But yeah, I guess it is still a good structure, even if I have grown to hate it.XD

Maybe the problem is that the warrior is unstoppable because now people can’t afford to ramp up enough burst to take them down: they’d have to sacrifice condition removers, essential to survive in the meta.

Even then, though, I don’t think either warriors or anyone else should become a burst-check class, like “I you can’t deal X damage or more in Y seconds, you won’t be able to down it”, except for bunkers. That would reduce build diversity.

So we need a way to organize groups similar to wow.

A group shouldn’t just be a party joining with a name decided for the occasion: it should be something more persistant, like in wow. This way it would be possible to add ratings to the team, not to the players.

This way leaderboards might show both: team rating and player rating depending on team rating.

You could also make sure each player is entitled to the rating gained by the team in matches he actually played: this way a team might even have more than 5 players enlisted in it (that doesn’t mean the team will play with more than 5 people, obv!XD).

I remember people saying it was even less balanced than GW2 is now. And didn’t even have structured pvp, if I remember well.
