I can see the great injustice!
Let’s scare of all the female players, let’s tell them they are sexist if they enjoy each others company, do not seek out male friends or wish to flirt in game.

Actually, while we are at it: Implement this in real life as well. Let’s tell the girls that having female friends or prefering to socialise with other females are no longer allowed, because it’s sexist to not include the men!
Or tell your girlfriend to go flirt with the other men because it would really be unfair towards them if she did not

Well, I said that as a joke, but I might counter-argue that this is not the same issue: this is more similar to saying “I wanna make friends ONLY with other girls”.

Then I don’t care, as I wouldn’t care if someone made a Guys only guild.

That if the problem about Mace/shield + GS build is being unreadable because of mace, that is also my problem.

You can get the same CC out of hammer the issue is hammer animation are slow and punish those not paying attention. This makes sense. The problem is mace shield has quick animations and some of the hardest to spot in the game. What compounds this issue is recent healing changes the capability to block something hammer inherently does not have. So countering hammer while simple can still challenging. Ranged DPS is a flat out counter so are blinds and evade. If you get caught it is your fault and its all over. Mace shield on the other hand is defensive enough to mitigate much of the damage in pursuit of the target and still pack out CC quicker on a single target. There is very little counter play because the animations are so fast.

There is more to this but I outlined it yesterday and before that and have no need to again. Factually in terms of access to blocks CC mobility and the traits being too good for adept the build is factually OP.

I believe you misunderstood him. He uses M/S + H.
M/S for the stun and the hammer for dps.
With this he has the ranged block, the quick animations and apparently the same dps as with the GS build.

Hammer has lower DPS, but this is balanced out by the ability to CC the enemy. The enemy will be stunned 7 seconds (Skull Crack + Heartshaker, which will land because the enemy is stunned) instead of 4, taking the damage I’d deal with a GS in 4 seconds. I do the same damage, just in a bit longer time.

And on another note, I think this build is not a cookie cutter. At least, I use my own version in spvp, with Berserker’s Amulet and other ways of gaining armor.

Wait, and if this build will bring nerfs to us… what are we supposed to do? I don’t think our attitude will change anything.

Some guys are making threads talking about the best ways to counter this build. And I think Stunbreakers are the least effective way. Example: I play engi. I think the best tool against warriors is Protection Injection, not a stunbreaker: each time I get stunned, damage is reduced by 33%. This is enough to make sure a single warrior can’t kill me, even in an hour.

Stunbreakers are more like a last resort, IMHO. There are better tools (pets who can disable enemies, teleports and so on).

And even if I thought some abilities from other classes might have been cheesy (but mostly outside of tournaments) I never asked for a nerf. I tried my best to learn to play and to fight. Now is someone else’s turn.

Not entirely true. If they are not in combat when they swap from GS to mace, they can swap right away. You can swap in the middle of the animation before you hit your target, stun, then swap back. Take timing but it can be done.

Well, that requires a lot of luck, I guess.

Your’e hypocrites if you could sit here for months and talk about how skilled you were on the weakest class and now feel all is right as you win every fight. You are all more disgusting that the thief community as you know what is like to be kitten on and ignored by the devs as other classes step all over you. So finally you have your OP build. And what do you say,“Ohh no this is imba please fix it.” or maybe ," I think this is a little too much." now you go with the tried and true, “L2P newbs”. All playing the same OP build with the same OP traits abandoning the builds you crafted that actually required you to work for win in favor of a, “Haha you got stunned 100b now you lose build,” and that is all it really is. Recognize that. While you kitten on the thief you act just like they do. It really is funny. Months on these forums thinking this was the best community in the game with the best players. However, a little taste of power and, “kitten all that I rather get easy wins.”

Hard to tell you this my friend, but do you know what was the build I crafted?

A STUNLOCK build, just with hammer instead of mace. And nobody had a problem with it. Damage and survivability was almost equal. But the CC was much, MUCH stronger.

Doesn’t seem instant to be honest. I think there is a small hidden cast time because it feels delayed.

I meant the strike is so hard to read compared to other skills, it’s as if it was instant by the receiving side.

I chose what I know I HATE while playing a warrior:

Stability elite, almost shutting down this build for 20 seconds (then you have to prevent the war from running away XD)

Protect me!, another anti burst that looks cool (As a warrior, I LOVE defy pain and all its counterparts)

Rune of Melandru also helps a lot, if it doesn’t kitten you too much. Or Bowl of Roasted Lotus Root, same effect. Reducing Skull Crack’s duration to less than 4 secs, you make sure warrs can’t pull off a full 100 blades.

I added pets accordingly on what annoys me the most: canines can interrupt me even while you are stunned, preventing me from doing bursts.

Just throwing some inputs, I never played WvWvW, only spvp

About gameplay hints, the weapon they are using with shield is mace. The stuns last 4 seconds, are instant and can happen quite often: 7.5 secs cooldown. But they have 130 range, thus making them a bit hard to land even in melee range (misjudging the distance is very common when you are that close, and even one step can make the difference).

Another thing: don’t stunbreak out of shield bash, they are mostly used tu set up skull cracks AND to bait your stunbreakers.

And save your gape creators for the times wars are using mace/shield: They don’t have gap closers with those weapons and will try to Bull’s Charge you, thus making it easier to foresee. And if you make mistakes, try to correct them with your tools.

And greatsword damage alone is good, but not overwhelming with those builds.

You do realize that we’re on the same team and he’s trolling…. Right? This build is made to hold nodes and support your team. The way to use this build as effectively as possible is to make use of the magnet and fumigate and to play smart. If you just want to stay alive, you can do what I am doing in the end of my video, however, if there’s a team fight than you provide immense support via your utilities you bring to the table.

Good to know every build can keep 100% uptime on all those. It’s not like you can’t stun for 4s out of every 7 (every 10 I guess if you switch to GS for 100B). And aren’t you running Lemongrass with crazy GS mobility? That eliminates about half those.

There’s your problem (not only yours, many fellow warriors used to make the same mistakes witht conditions/other builds): you confuse “countering” with “completely nullifying” a certain build. You aren’t supposed to destroy a warrior with just a stunbreaker.

Lets just make it that when warriors missed a burst, the adrenaline is still used so everyone is happy

This way, the mace f1 spammers will think more clearly before using their burst, and the others can effectively clean the conditions

There is already a downside for missing the burst.

It goes into a full cooldown.

They’d probably wouldn’t be a problem for most builds: Adrenaline is mostly refilled in that time span.

For all the insults being thrown at us “whiners”, you have failed to provide any evidence at a proper counter to this build, or provide any justification why a single build can provide superior DPS, sustain, mobility, CC and immunity to conditions AT THE SAME TIME.

We gave ways to counter, you ignored them.

Well, the DPS of this build kinda sucks, at least compared to what warriors can do. It seems high because you get it in 3 seconds. Sustained damage is mostly very low (unless the build uses lower sustain and higher damage, but still sustained dps is meh).

Warrior’s mobility is mostly good for covering long distances or running away. It has a very low maneuvrability. And doesn’t come directly with cc. If I close a gap, switch weapons and stun, I won’t be able to 100b you.

CC is like your stealth: annoying, but it’s our class’ main mechanic.

Immunity to movement conditions only, obtained in great part with runes and food. Outside of Berserker’s Stance.

However, why we can have a good trade of all of these? Because we don’t have tricks:

We don’t have AI

We don’t have Stealth

We don’t have Teleports

We don’t have protection.

Let’s put it like this: Warrior is becoming the “no cover, all man class”.XD

We make up for the lack of these mechanics by having higher stats/higher regen/a bit higher damage

As people learned to work around stealth, you have to learn how not to die to our burst even if we hit you (example: find easy ways to apply protection, weakness or blind, use low cd teleports, use AI cc and so on)

This build is more reactionary than most other classes. Instead of focusing on your own combo you’re more interested in disrupting theirs. You can chain Shield Bash – 1 mace swing – Skull Crack – Switch to GS – 100b – (wait for the dodge that typically follows) – Whirlwind – Bladetrail. Typically though, the first Shield Bash will bait out their stun breakers/stability. It’ll probably take a Bash and a Crack before you can actually use the full combo however.

Is it ever worth using Arcing Slice over Skull Crack?

If you really need the condition removal. Depending on the build, you could even take someone down with Rush, Whirlwind and Arcing Slice, I guess.

The idea is to go to the enemy point before they capture it, and make sure it stays decapped as long as possible. Everything is put into survivability.

You can probably change Cleric Amulet for Shaman’s Amulet. And Med Kit can be swapped with healing turret.

I don’t know, more than of necromancers I am scared of thieves: their spikes are always a pain for me. If I am not careful, they can kill me in istants. That’s why I use Slick Shoes. They act as an effective double stunbreaker: the toolbelt ability and the Slick, which knocks down people around you while you are stunned/knocked down.

It’s more a yoloqueue build, I guess.

I think reading the map and your allies’ lifebars might be crucial:

for instance, if one of your points is contested, and you don’t see any teammates there in the minimap, you can assume there’s one enemy capping it. If you are confident enough, you can go and try to defend it.

If you see a teammate there, you might need to look at his healthbar to see how the fight is going, and if there are more than one enemy there.

And if you are tanky enough, going in battles you can’t win just to buy time might actually win you the match.

We still have low damage.
We still have poor sustain (can be easilly kited/killed.)
We are still one of the hardest classes to play.

This is lulzy coming from the highest damage, and one of the highest sustain class. It’s also the class that is widely considered to be ez-mode and faceroll.

All I am trying to say here is warrior is in a good spot and once the meta in whole sways away from condi spam warriors are going to be wanted for teams. Like for example you run a s/d ele with warrior, the warrior can call the stun then ele gets all his burst and if ele goes 30 in air for shocking aura that will be insta gib on an enemy.

I agree, I think our spot is nice. We bring constant pressure and we are kind of a jack-of-all-trades: we can help killing the enemy bunker quickly (with another teammate), we can take out condi spammers on big fights, we can prevent some resses with 100b, and we can hold a point for some time, depending on the build and our enemies we will probably die in not much time, but sometimes it might save a match.XD

Warriors arent op but that stun lock build is bad gameplay plain and simple and another typical lazy A-net type fix. Every PVP MMORPG I have played before started out with some kind of stun lock type build at release and quickly nerfed it out of existence. A-net think this is something to add to a game mid course to buff a class. I know there is nothing more fun then to be stunned over and over again until dead. Not! A-net loves it CC. Its somehow justified because of dodges and stun breaks. Maybe if everyone had three stun breaks. Most people run 1.

It’s actually the only thing we do MUCH better than others.

It’s not like the other MMORPGs: cc is a tanky business.XD

And… do you think to counter a build you should be able to completely NEGATE it?

Nobody asked for a set of traits/skills able to make you reduce condition duration or direct damage by 80%.

By countering it it means you have to be able to be hit by a 4 second stun and not being wiped out.

Thus you won’t be able to survive with just active skills while building full glassy. You need some effects while cc’d (as engi), or ways to teleport (as mesmer/thief) while stunned or ways to counter-cc the warrior (ranger). With ele you can use protection, and I saw some necros using DS to negate 100blades. There are many ways to do it.

•Necromancers have not been seen at large in sPvP and were previously free kills
•Necromancers are the first to bring good condition builds to sPvP
•People are not using builds to counter the condition capabilities of this build
•People do not have enough experience fighting a condition build to know when to pop cleanses

Some said it was cheesy, but I think most warriors just “moaned” a bit: they aknowleged the fact Cleansing Ire was mandatory (I think many didn’t like the idea of being forced to get 20 points in defense because of the changed meta, even if they were grateful they had a way to counter it)… and dusted off maces and hammers.XD

Like… Asura won’t be able to threaten to close their Gates anymore, because it wouold damage their economy as much as the other ones.

Yeah, we fight the dragons on behalf of the asura, but it’s not like we didn’t need to otherwise.

And it seems to me Asuras are less attached on practical applications, more on scientific discovery. It’s the Charrs the best at imagining how to use something for their own sake (Asura didn’t invent airships, Charrs did: Asura knew how to do it, but didn’t have enough imagination/didn’t care to build it).

Dude…. I don’t know what warriors your facing but warrs 1v1 are gods lol… mace shield /gs if your losing 1v1 with that regularly you have a problem… Of course mesmer troll 1v1 specs will win but other than that with good timing and speed you can overcome almost all classes. I kill most necros if I have berserker stance up easy.

From my experience, against certain enemies (mesmers, eles) I win 1v1s in tourneys, but not on dueling servers: on open fields melee classes have a really hard time, while around points or in narrow spaces they can apply constant pressure.

Just remember to choose your ground and you’ll have a chance to fight and win.

Go take a walk around Orr. You’ll see risen peasants working. Go to one of the temples. When the high priests attempt to kill you, they tell you Zhaitan has killed their gods. When they sail, they sail on ships made by humans.

Sons of Svanir are different. When they were alive and not transformed, they chose to revere the dragon instead of Spirits of the Wild. There is no icebrood army, Jormag seems to give them free reign on how to use the given power. When Sons of Svanir are corrupted, they remain Sons of Svanir, and are honored by those sons still norn. We never see the icebrood colossi leading groups of Sons of Svanir, or icebrood. They seem to lose their mind to it.

When it comes to Kralkatorrik, he doesn’t corrupt halfway. His minions rarely speak (Victurus the Shattered being the only one I remember having talked) and their skin is turned completely to gray, purple lighting streaking off them. And these weren’t minions spawned for a reason – they just were there when the dragon flew over them.

I could go on, but if you blatantly refuse to see the differences, I don’t know if it’s worth my time.

So, there is a theoretical difference.

Now, is there a difference for me as a player? All I see are mobs to kill. Even if they are working before they attack me, it doesn’t make a big difference.

Neither it does for the Sons of Svanir or the Shattered.

Now if, for example, Jormag worshipping was seen as an heresy by Norn, and Sons of Svanir were hunted in a way similar to the Inquisition, I’d see a difference. If you had to hunt down suspects of heresy in Hoelbrak, maybe making some mistakes, I’d see a bigger difference.

Maybe it’s me who didn’t play much of the personal story, but they all seem Evil for Evil’s sake. They act in different ways? Maybe. But that alone doesn’t mean they are that much different.

And not knowing their motivations is not enough. We at least want some hints, or some doubts.


Now I am at level 74, the next mission I’ll do is to track down Zhaitan’s Mouth. I hope it will get better: as of now, Zhaitan and its servants disappointed me.

I killed Zhaitan’s Eye, but all I discovered after it was that Zhaitan consumes artifacts (Nice… so what? He doesn’t like pizza! That’s evil!) and that it knows what the people it consumes know. We know how Zhaitan works, but we have no idea why, except for the “consuming all life” thingy.

Sounds like a PvE’er walked into a PvP zone and got beaten by an experienced player. Then promptly went to the forums to complain about it.

Also, someone mentioned that Engineer has long cooldown stunbreaks. If you are having trouble against this build as an engi, you need to utilize your blinds, knockbacks, immobilizes, perma-vigor, blocks, and kiting better. (and your stunbreak cooldowns are comparable with other classes’ FYI)

AND Protection Injection: each time you’ll get bursted, you’ll cut the burst by 33%.

Or even by 53%, with Stabilized Armor.

And those traits are useful with EVERY kind of burst, not only the one from warriors.

Now for the most obvious counter, STUN BREAKERS AND STABILITY!

You may have noticed that Arenanet has shuffled stun break skills for many professions. In general moving the stun break away from most widely used skills and moving them to some more or less useless skills. For some professions it is difficult to make an efficient build with more than 1 stun breaker. (warriors who get defensive could take both “shake it off” and endure pain or balanced stance as stun breakers).

I have spent more time playing on engineer and warrior than any other profession. Currently engineers have zero stun breaks on a low cooldown:

Now of course it is possible to equip and trait almost any profession to counter this particular build, but seriously doing that would make those builds pretty subpar against many other builds.

An honest analysis of this should include:
- mace stun lock burst can occur roughly once per 10 seconds
- most stun break skills have a 40-60 s cooldown

This is an example of a game design flaw. Since day one Guild Wars 2 has had excessive burst (go to WvWvW and see how much dmg you can do with full stack, consumables + ascended gear, killing is not a problem, not even >3k armor won’t help you). Yet for so strange reason Arenanet developers keep adding more burst to this game e.g. recent changes to necromancer, allowing condition burst.

I think 3 s stun is a bit too long and ALL 3 second stuns (for all professions) should be reduced to 2 seconds. Also 100 blades should be moved to be the burst skill of greatsword, as has been suggested already many times. This would still allow skull crack + 100 blades combo as it is possible to use signet of fury to refill adrenaline to full. Thus the combo would become: skull crack + signet of fury + 100 blades. But signet of fury has 24 s cooldown traited, thus this combo could be performed only once per 24 seconds.

Well, we ALREADY build against conditions and bursts. Time for other people to do the same.

By the time we use that strategy, the stun will be gone.

What about using Rune of Melandru? With that I don’t have problems against other Mace/Greatsword warriors. 4 s stun barely let you dish out 100 blades. And even if I am sleepy and get a full combo, I still have enough armor and health to survive. This with warrior AND with engi. This build is particularly effective against glass cannons, just try not to engage the warrior in a 1v1, as we try not to engage in 1v1s other enemies.

Example: as an engineer, protection injection, Static shield and static shot are almost always enough to save me. I dodge as soon as I get in melee range with the warrior, to prevent Skull Crack. As Necromancer’s Doom, you have to foresee it, because the animation is too fast to see it coming. But it’s easier, for it’s on a very short range, on a weapon set with little to no gap closers.

And about healing signet… its downside is each poison effect will affect you entirely. You can’t just wait it out then heal. And maybe now we won’t be outlasted by default by everything.

Other than that, healing signet has no other side effect.

IMO, skull crack is over-estimated, and it only can pressure a bad player that didn’t get used to it. (Nerco who did not bring any stun-breakers or thief who spam their shadow-step for no reason.)

Lol how if you time your cc you can pull it off every time. 3-4 sec stun OP.

Not Op. Strong, though. You need very good timing and patience to deal consistent damage.

Personally i have had the most success with longbow and gs over the shield mace
My build is secret but the utilitys i take are Bulls charge Bolas and Zerk stance. Immobilizes are very amazing.

I know how Arcing Arrow on your feet can be effective.

But real men go melee. XD

Dps might be meh, but is enough to kill people, and you are still very resistant. You have still to avoid open fields, though. Many times I managed to outlast my opponent.

One trick to increase the dps is to use Skull Crack under another stun/daze: you’ll get 3.5k damage. Or you could use Skull Crack baiting the breaker then Shield bash, Whirlwind, Bladetrail and Rush.

Well, I don’t play WvWvW (my war is only level 7 ) but I think I’d play something different too, just to use the higher gear potential.

your complete argumentation is invalid. u try to argument that cc is needed to counter condition spam. but cc is a counter to everything and in that amount atm op. there is also no need to always refer to necs or engis or condition spam. dont know u all dont want accept that. esp if i follow ur argument u demand that i choose my counter to cc wisely but neglate the use of conditionremoval wisely.

CC is expecially strong against condition dealers for they don’t have nothing more than stunbreakers.

Mesmers have the staff. Thieves have shadow return. Both teleport you away, most probably negating your burst even without breaking the stun. Rangers have their pets, who can stop warriors for them. You have to land a perfect burst on most eles to have a chance to take them down 1v1. I also saw some necros countering 100b by soaking it with deathshroud.

You will never have something that completely negates cc, as you won’t have something that completely and effectively negates conditions.

Warriors will be able to land that combo sooner or later. But they might do it so seldomly you’ll be able to take them down. Then it comes to skill, or who outlasts who. It all comes to who between the two is the better player or the better builder.

Even if you get stunned, I hardly see 100 blades exceed 10k damage. Very few classes get killed by a single combo. But the build we play is not GC anymore, so it’s not like “we fail the combo and we die” anymore.

By running random directions you can make Skull Crack miss many times, too.

Some people think a warrior dying this way was a bad warrior being punished. Well, as an engi, all I needed to do was standing still. Protection Injection was enough to make me live through the burst.

Now it’s our turn to say it:

That’s why I use berserker’s amulet: I’m still hard to take down (I still keep good armor with Dolyak Signet and Runes of Melandru), but I can deal high damage outside of stuns. You can kill people by making them break skull crack and then get them with rush/whirlwind.
It works, even if maybe my rating is too low to tell (I went down to 60% with bad luck and bad builds) and I don’t play frequently enough to raise it (with this kind of build I win almost all the soloqueues I make… as if the build brought good luck by itself.XD).

However, mace/GS setup is awesome, and I love it. It’s perfect for multitasking. I can assault any point or hold it, depending on my needs.

And Skull Crack is also unpredictable because it has fast casting. The enemy can’t see it coming. His only bet is to stay far. That’s why I think this build works worse on dueling servers: in the open field where you have to fight you can be kited much more easily.

I have to agree, this weapon combo has always been around since even pre mace stun buff. The variations are endless. The counter meta thing been there forever, its just that some people prefer zerker dps because if a random guardian comes along and decides to pop stability for 4 of his teammates you’re not going to do much until the buff is gone.

If people think the bull charge->HB->eviserate etc blah blah is too easy to read this is even worse because its long to setup.

But you can do it again quickly, and you are protected by something more than toilet paper.

Seriously, I saw a warrior with that old build. I didn’t even need to dodge. I could just stand still and soak all his damage. In my opinion, that build has always been kinda weak.

Then you’ll have to remove phantasms and thieve’s leaps behind the enemy.

Considering how much of a mess this game can get, I don’t think it’s skill based. AND we need a decent targeting system, making differences between players and AI.

And this is not a MOBA. Or an FPS.

The build I posted was made for solo queue, where I might need to do many different things, so I can do a bit of everything (like killing bunkers faster, or hunting down glass cannons, while holding a point for some time if needed). Probably the soldier build is a bit more specialized and focused.

She didn’t know her limits. Soldiers who don’t know their limits make mistakes. And soldiers that make mistakes die.
You already saw many dying before. Why should she be different? Only because she looks up to you?

She was fighting, she attacked the krait, she deserved it. This is war, not Star Wars. If you attack someone, prepare to be killed. Not just because your name is shown means you are special.

What I meant is: after all those years, Charrs have good reasons to hate humans, humans have good reasons to hate Charrs. At least not to be extremely happy about seeing each other, even if they respect peace.

And about my character: the difference is I had enough power to take the orb. She didn’t and, worst of all, didn’t realize it. She was arrogant. Arrogance bears a high price to pay.

If I got defeated, I would have deserved to be caught. And killed. I wan’t attacking slavers. I was attacking people defending their homeland. They weren’t out for capturing slaves at the moment.
