Lets compare eviscerate to this.

Does it track through stealth? Nope.
Can you hit people from max range? Nope.
Does rapid fire require you to engage a target for an extended battle to build up energy to use it? Nope.
How many dodges stop an eviscerate? 1.
How many stop a rapid fire 3.
If I get out of range of a warriar can they use it? Nope.
Can I get out of range of a ranger…. Nope.

If you have a target and eviscerate it tracks through stealth if they stealth during the animation.

Eviscerate does all of its damage at once. You either avoid it all or take it all.

“Extended battle”. So lets around 5-10 seconds… That’s not very long.

And you can get out of range of a ranger. lol

There is no arguments being thrown at my end ? You’re the one that eems to not be taking logic into the consideration.

PLus, what if a player doesnt like the current weapons’s set ? What if a player doesnt like maces ? Swords ? Bows ? What if he wants his character to use a specific weapon ?
He is FORCED to have on an MMo to have his character use a certain weapon just because it “offers what he needs” ?

Sorry, the argument of “There’s already things that do that, and the class doesnt need more of it” its not logical. At all. Its an MMO, diversity makes it, the option to use whatever you want makes it. Not being forced to stick with something just because it gives what you needs.

Play a different game if you don’t like half the stuff in it, no one is forcing you to do anything.

What if I want a giant flaming laser shooting eyeball as a weapon? The devs can’t and won’t tend to the needs of every individual player. It’s not even reasonable.

i wonder what the people that are defending lb ranger are playing in wvw most of the time. Are you guys even roam? and if so

do you roam with 5 men all in pvt to cap a camp? are you playing with dire perplexity gear?

Its a whole diffrent experience, if rapidfire hits u for lets say 4k or if it hits you for 10k, if the auto hits you for 4k or for 1k from a 1500 range.
I think if you really wanna know whats going on with ranger atm you have to play one and see for yourself… Maybe i should record a bit ranger lb gameplay.

So we’re running full PVT with dire perplexity. Got it.

And yeah, go ahead and record yourself. You’ll probably just get footage of you dying to the easiest things to avoid.

not really, rangers have a lot of utility for avoiding damage and being in close combat.

I never said they didn’t, haha.

Just because they have them, doesn’t mean they use them correctly.

And by concentrating, I mean not just falling over like a ragdoll like I’ve seen some do. By concentrating, I mean actually playing well. It’s hard to describe, but you can tell when you are fighting someone who is good with their class. =]

“critically hits you for 10,414 using [Backstab]” – I had full health.

I have lvl 80 mesmer. Full zerk – exo armor, ascended trinkets. Anything non-zerk would have less damage. Max crit hit I have done is about 2,000. How to get 10,414 in a split second with mesmer?

So far best weapon (of mesmer) against the thief is the Moa bird. But you may know how hard it is to get invisible thief as target for the whole cast time. Specially if thief surprises and instakills.

lmao.

Ok first off, you are running a full zerk mesmer (light armored class). It doesn’t matter if you are ascended or not, ascended zerk adds no defense regardless.

And you are talking about 2 different classes. Thieves can 1 shot with backstab. Mesmers can 1 shot with shatters.

I think two specializations per class to start would make sense. I saw the “no polearm” link you posted where he said they’re only starting with one specialization, I’m calling BS on that guy. Highly doubt he “spoke with Colin”, or that they would divulge that information to a random attendee.

That being said, here’s what I can see each class using, assuming two specializations:

Heavy:

Guardian – Offhand Mace, Offhand Sword
Warrior – Mainhand Sword, Offhand Torch

Medium:

Thief – Rifle, Offhand Torch
Ranger to Druid – Staff, Rifle
Engineer – Hammer, Offhand Mace
Light:

Necromancer – Greatsword, Offhand Torch
Elementalist – Mainhand Sword, Offhand Torch
Mesmer – Shield, Mainhand Pistol

Warriors already have MH sword. I think you meant offhand sword.

shadowpass.4236

Well, some of those sound cool, but where did you get guardian longbow from? Or anything hinting at ‘monk’?

I think we’re also assuming that if mesmers do get to be chronomancers, we will also see summoners, which will presumably be the specialisation for one of the other scholars, most likely elementalist, since necromancers already have a whole trait line dedicated to summoning things.

We’ve also been told that there are sadly no actual new weapons at this time, but some polearm skins made it into the game as different weapons. Although I believe the source for this isn’t considered that great, since it was basically some guy on Reddit claiming to have spoken with Colin Johanssen at the afterparty.

Well, ANet has fulfilled many of us rangers’ wishes by giving us the staff in upcoming xpac.

So, I just thought it would make sense if they gave guardians the longbow, which many of them have been asking for, for quite some time.

And also, we have our damage based specializations like the presumed sniper, so it’d make sense to make a more support based one, like a monk.

Take the guardian’s spirit weapon, the Bow of Truth. Its active ability cleanses conditions and heals, so they could implement a longbow wielding monk as a support specialization. =]

GUILD HALLS
ZAISHEN MENANGERIE GROUNDS
__________________________________________________________________

The Zaishen Menagerie Grounds would be a purchasable upgrade to the new Guild Halls that allow Ranger/Druids to train and level their pets.

The Zaishen Menagerie Grounds will have several NPC’s. Trainers for every unique zone type with a charmable animal (jungle, desert, snow, etc. etc.).

This Guild Hall upgrade would cost 150 gold and 20,000 influence points.
__________________________________________________________________

Once you purchase the Zaishen Menagerie Grounds, those representing the guild will gain access to a new type of item. Eggs.

While killing enemies, Eggs have a chance to drop depending on what type of enemy you kill and what zone you are currently in.

These Eggs have 3 tiers: Common, Rare, and Legendary.
Common Eggs are not bound and can hatch the basic charmable pets that can be found throughout the game.
Rare Eggs are account bound and hatch a new variety of pets, such as lions and tigers.
Legendary Eggs are account bound as well and hatch pets such as: Rainbow Phoenix, White Tiger, and Mordrem Hounds.
__________________________________________________________________

Once the Zaishen Menagerie Grounds have been purchased, pets gain access to an experience bar and levels.
– For each level gained, the pet gains Attribute Points that can be assigned to any of the 5 main stats by the player (Power, Precision, Toughness, Vitality, Ferocity, and Condition Damage).

These Attribute Points can be modified at any time when the player and pet are not in combat.
__________________________________________________________________

When the pet reaches the max level of 20, it will gain access to a range of new additions such as pet titles and new skins.

Pet titles can be unlocked through special challenges and will function similarly to unlocking titles as a player.
– Titles will include: Dire, Aggressive, Elder, Playful, Hearty, and more.

Skins will be unlocked as the pet levels up and can change the pet’s size/appearance to reflect their age and experience.
– Pet titles and skins will also be purely cosmetic and have no effect on gameplay.

You Can’t Expect Everyone To Know. That is the ultimate endgame argument here. You in no way shape or form can expect everyone to know. And even if everyone knew these players are spamming emotes to try to harass and hurt other players. which breaks the Code of Conduct despite whether they accomplish doing this or not. So in the end we need a way to report it.

You. are. dense.

Yeah, we can’t expect everyone to have one and know about ts. Everyone is just talking about the majority of players. You don’t need everyone on ts anyways if you’re pugging. The ones who don’t have it will just follow the pack anyways…

If you can find the players, right click them, block, and report them from your block list. Or get their names and unblock them if you want to talk to them.

Arcane Outfit = Dervish Robes

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: shadowpass.4236

shadowpass.4236

An outfit that has no actual gameplay function…. how does that equate to dervish aspects? I’m tying to find your logic here but I’m just not seeing it. Sure, it looks like something a GW1 Dervish might wear, but come on. Besides, the revenant is to have heavy armor, and if you look here https://heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/en you can see what the revenant class might look like armor wise.

What you are suggesting is kind of saying that the noble count outfit would have some benefits of human nobility, or the chef outfit would somehow give you access to new cooking recipes. It’s purely cosmetic and have no bearing on current or future gameplay mechanics or playable professions.

I see your point. I’m just hoping for the Revenant to be somewhat Dervish-like so I can use the Arcane Robes and make believe I’m a Dervish from GW1. =]

So glad you liked the sounds of the upcoming expansion.

The Revenant will be a really interesting profession, and I bet a lot of us will be making one right away! I’m not sure how close the Revenant is to a Ritualist — I think there are as many differences as similarities — but the dev team will have more information on that in the future so you can make your own appraisal.

I’m hoping for a derv/rit in the Revenant class. =]

Just imagine. Swinging a spirit scythe and spreading fear into the hearts of other players in PvP.

It will be GLORIOUS! =D

On a serious note, it looked like Rytlock was using a staff in the trailer and wacking people on the head with it. But, in my opinion, it would be cooler if the auto attack for the Revenant’s staff was called “Spirit Blade”. Where you’d spawn a spirit scythe glowing green/blue and sweep/whirl it to attack.

By rebalancing lb dmg i mean lowering the damage from far and increasing it from close range.

With 1500 range “counters” you mean blocks and reflects? A good rangers wouldnt just shoot on someone blocking all his arrows or even reflecting them. he would just retreat a bit, maybe use his stealth skill to position himself better and start again.

Ahh, good point. You want to make longbow a melee weapon. Great idea! I see you really thought that one through!

/sarcasm

And yes. Blocks and reflects are counters. A good ranger will continue to aa on a block and wait out a reflect. But that is time where the ranger isn’t damaging you. Like for a traited WoR, that thing lasts a full 12 seconds of ranged dmg immunity if you stand in it where you can do things like waiting out your heal or other cooldowns.

As for classes that can stealth, yes. Rangers can track through stealth. And yes, we can also reveal you for 6 seconds every 40 seconds on a skill that can be dodged. But honestly, these don’t last very long. If a ranger rapid fires you before you go into stealth, just dodge or mitigate it with skills and all of a sudden the ranger has to go on the defensive to protect against your incoming attack that can’t be seen.
