Perhaps the only RP-oriented guild on the server
Main Character: Farathnor (sylvari ranger) 1 of 22
I don’t remember their recipes or stats off hand, but if they are on par with other legendaries in those aspects, they should count as such. if not, then they are fine the way they are, with Eternity being the only Legendary
they should follow that pattern with the rest of the weapons
Trahearne has an equal share of survival-against-throngs and kormir-level-suicide in my Personal Story. especially in my most recent run (remake of my Sylvari ranger) he is able to hold his own against 4 (normal) enemies at a time with little help
btw, does anyone remember if the model for Caladbolg used to be the green (T2) cultural greatsword? it’s the bark (T3) one now but i think my first sylvari was carrying around a green one (with him being ele, i doubt it was the “Avenger’s Sword” one)
They’re still out there… yes they are (they have to be) even Zhaitan is not kitten enough to take them down, so he has his lackeys lie about it.
seriously though, Sieran, Tybalt and Forgal must be among the best written chars of this entire game. each sacrifice was felt at full impact
…and yeah, my chars believe they somehow made it out (except maybe for Forgal, who might even prefer going out this way, may his Legend never be forgot)
the Tribulation duo, if only for the circumstances under which i did them. i know i will most likely never complete the ones with vanishing platforms and it will be a while before i risk my sanity again with Griffonrook
Hidden Garden is definitely one of the most stunning ones
GW1 Worms were Drake Hatchlings? …huh, i think i remember GW1 wrong
Wurms or Wyrms? …two very different beasts
the former are worms, the latter are serpents
Malyck is a blessing and a curse to the Nightmare Court. on one hand, his existence proves they don’t have to rely on the Pale Tree for new recruits. on the other hand, his mentality proves that their theory about Ventari’s Tablet is most likely wrong
at the very least, Asura and Skritt share an ancestor as far as race design goes, specifically this guy:
I’m pretty sure one could argue they share an ancestor in game as well
while I pretty much agree with Konig, there are some rather… unfortunate bits of dialogue that have Trahearne claiming credit for things the PC did (choosing the name of Fort Trinity is the least of them)
that said, Trahearne would sit much better with me if he ends up joining Destiny’s Edge and the lot of them lead the Pact from whatever post they are most effective. They have the resources (Pact), the experience in fighting dragons and most, if not all, of them hold positions of renown, respect and authority over their own cultures (to whatever extend such things are possible)
i just wish i didn’t have to click others in order to see their titles
as long as it’s a matter of appearance, i’m all for it.. .but, as others said, don’t limit which profession of the appropriate armour class can use it
i remember reading that they would let us change names… for gems
dungeon tokens for recipes to craft the appropriate armour and weapons? …huh…. where do i sign?
Guardians only have one underwater-friendly elite, i believe…
so yeah. we need more underwater elites
i haven’t been in a dungeon since the update, but just by reading about it and comments so far, it seems to me that this was poorly thought out and has quite a few glitches to iron out before it has the intended outcome
other than that, pretty much what Agent Ice said
(and no, usually i’m not the one going down, i’m the one doing the reviving/resurrecting)
ranger is about survival in the wild, which includes hunting. rifles would be perfectly in tune with that
that said, i’d rather if all professions can use all weapons, each with different skills
having your alts aiding you when there’s nobody else available would be awesome
i’d rather we get polymock back honestly… which, we’re probably getting… so yeah, nevermind
not quite sure i understand what you’re trying to say…
there is however a Preview function for dyes in game
normally I would agree with the OP, but I’ve Been There, Done That and nothing beats the feeling of gathering a force of 30 people to help you capture the keep where the very last PoI is
THAT is what made 100% completion for me
if the title was about map exploration only, it wouldn’t include Hearts and Skill Points.
that said, I had to rush with my lvl15 (at the time) Guardian to complete all the WvWvW maps while we held 99% of them
just another voice added to those above… this would make playing engi a lot more fun
make kits more varied, be it level, race or a combination of those (or any other way that makes sense)
Disclaimer 1: Searching the forum for a similar topic gave no results. If i somehow missed it, merging the threads is welcome
Disclaimer 2: This thread is mostly for people that like having many characters, if you don’t care about that, no point in saying “the game doesn’t need that” …at least not without justification
Now, on to the juicy bits. I already have 5 characters (one of each race) and chances are I will have many more before my run with GW2 comes to an end. As it is right now, the Character Selection screen is rather impractical and only meant for a limited number of characters. I have only gone up to 6 characters, so i don’t know how the CSS handles larger numbers, but I am fairly certain the current layout is not going to work well.
More to the point, it is impossible to see the choices made during Creation just by checking the info box for the character in the lower left corner, as well as any info they picked up during play (for example which order they belong to).
I will try making a mockup with possible suggestions as soon as I have the time, but if you guys have any ideas, this could be the thread to share them.
don’t agree with a complete removal of WP cost, but in two cases they cost way too much…
1. they should make using WP free when you are defeated, though they should limit the free ride to WPs within a certain range.
2. it’s absolutely weird to have to pay a couple of silver coins for a WP i could simply walk to in less than 10 seconds
I agree with the OP, more variation would be quite welcome
on a slightly different topic: why is an armour set considered “heavy” when it’s mostly straps of leather, barely covering the character, with a piece of plate attached to them?
if we don’t have the ability to mix and match, at least give us more options within the confines of each armour class
the fact that you’re still at 99% even after getting the rewards, is odd… but what the notes say, is pretty clear.
if you already had 100% before, you keep it without activating the new waypoints. when you activate them, you are still at 100%, they don’t push you to 101% or something absurd like that
it’s basically another way to say “don’t worry guys. if you got the title, you keep it regardless of how much stuff is added in the future”
that’s why i mapped sympathies before selecting for each of my chars, eventually i came up with the following combos (though i suspect at least one more is possible)
Asura – Quaggan
Charr – Grawl
Human – Skritt
Norn – Ogres
Sylvari – Hylek
…i just imagine the Kodans trying to keep a straight face when you return with the rifle, trying to be all mystical and kungfuey about it
there’s also a VERY good reason the Player Character(s) is not the Marshal of the Pact
it’s the fact that the history of GW doesn’t end with GW2 …they need a player-neutral party to serve that role, not an unnamed “Commander” (even Mass Effect had a fixed main char as the PC)
what they could have done, however, is make Destiny’s Edge lead the Pact, with Trahearne as an advisor/new member
you can’t say that any of the factions got it wrong really… yes, the Vigil had the manpower and experience to bring the fight to Zhaitan, but it was the methods of the Priori that gave the Pact the means to defeat him …and without the Whispers laying the ground for cross-race communication and cooperation, the Pact would not even exist
in short, the factions were only wrong in that they thought their way alone was sufficient
i know for certain that my priori sylvari would just shoot first and ask questions later if he saw dredge near a suspected dwarven relic/ruin …the danger of lost knowledge is just too great
overall though? always tried avoiding to harm the dredge workers if it can be helped (though i find the mechanics of them grabbing the weapon quite ingenious)
other than the fact they do not procreate sexually, do we really know whether sylvari are sexual in general or not?
everything i needed to know on the three orders was (re)presented perfectly by Forgal, Sieran and Tybalt
their attitude and personality just brought life to the orders
that would greatly improve things for some of us… where do i sign?
they should just let us learn new dances regardless of race
failing that, profession-specific dances should be added
should be a simple matter of priorities actually… looting first, then npc talk, etc
in Hoelbrak, right next to the keg brawl arena, is a Norn that wants to build his legend by seeing or counting or something all the different snowflakes
…and he’s a big burly guy with a horned helmet
my gut reaction is “yes please” …it would make some missions much easier, especially when there are no guildies around …i’d actually like that for dungeons (story mode mostly) too
but, i don’t see it happening
actually, i think Eir was skeptical about the minotaur spirit being behind the attacks, not the existence of the minotaur spirit itself
mind if i make a suggestion here?
the maps/zones/areas themselves all exist at the same timeline, there is NO time travel required whatsoever for a character to be in one or the other
SOME of the events that happen in them, inhabit a specific spot in the timeline of the main story. it is a necessity of the game, nothing more, nothing less
if one cannot bend their imagination around it…
/shrug
What I mean is that Char and Norn will be the only races I imagine that a guard would stand by and cheer when two of them get into a brawl instead of jumping in to restore peace.
(though maybe a silvari guard would prolly run away peeing his pants……hmmm, do Silvari have to pee????)
eh, i wouldn’t say it’s as clear-cut as that… i can see members of each race reacting in very different ways to the above situation:
Asura Guard: most likely to interrupt combat as it disrupts peace and quiet. somewhat likely to let the brawl continue and even predict and bet on the winner
Charr Guard: most likely to go military police and report the brawlers for misconduct. somewhat likely to cheer them on, depending on the guard’s Legion
Human Guard: most likely to intervene in pretty much the same way the police would in the real world. back alley brawls are entirely different
Norn Guard: most likely to kick them out of the lodge for breaking the rules. once outside they are most likely to place bets and cheer
Sylvari Guard: most likely to sit and watch, curious about the whole thing, intervening if things get too rough. in case of Nightmare, the Sylvari caused the brawl
i’m with the OP on this… lvl 80 with my main but if i am in the area and someone is looking for people to head into a dungeon (story, exploration, couldn’t care less) and i have the time, i jump in… and usually i’m the one making the wiseass comments while sniping enemies and letting my pet aid the melee folks (or even when locked in melee/reviving myself)
i have been to a few speed runs and it felt awkward
my main is a level 80 sylvari ranger. currently at 98% completion and while i have no clue how many hours i’ve spent playing (how do you guys tell anyway?) i can say i have seen most of what GW2 has to offer. i took my time exploring, helping others along the way (and being saved by them in turn), did some crafting, tried pvp, wvwvw, was there for the lost shores event and i’ve participated in almost every aspect of the game i can think of except for fractals (due to rl time limitations)
there have in fact been cases where i felt as death was the only possible outcome of me bumping into trouble. specifically, the crowded spots in Orr, the karka five-shot attacks, the Metrica elemental when i first saw it and whenever i went in against a champion or two by myself (yeah, i missed the “Champion” tag, sue me :P ) ..i’ve held my own against group events and i have been killed by weak mobs, in both cases the outcome was because of my actions, not the fault of the game
i wouldn’t say the game is too easy, nor is it particularly hard. i do know however that some aspects of it are not for me (like JPs with vanishing platforms) and i know i am in fact one of the worst players out there, especially in pvp/w3 situations …to put it bluntly, the l2p crowd are not being unreasonable here
there are many speculations about who’s next, though my guess would be Jormag, simply because he has the most impact in what we can see of the world, with bubbles (the dsd) a distant second
as for zhaitan… the battle wasn’t exactly as epic as most would like. the last portion can get rather repetitive
if you take the game’s mechanics into consideration, it’s fairly easy to have the personal story in linear progression and the various map areas existing in the same time frame (not the case for some of the events happening in them, but that’s what you have to account for with rp)
Risen attacking Morgan’s Spiral in Caledon Forest even though your character just came back from slaying Zhaitan? big deal… they are remnants of his army that lash out at the nearest living creatures
and so on and so forth…
edit: on the other hand, contradicting established lore is a whole different issue and a good reason for me to ignore you in rp if you do it consciously.
ignoring recurring events = ignoring game mechanics, not ignoring lore
ignoring lore details = not playing in the same universe as other people
(edited by smekras.8203)
basically, the tooth of jormag serves a double purpose
it reminds everyone of one of the greatest challenges a norn can face (as well as provide a more tangible “face” for the enemy that cost them their old home) and it’s a way for calmer norn to hold the rush ones back
“dude, you can’t even scratch his tooth, what makes you think you’re strong enough to take him on? go get stronger first”
i don’t think Sieran actually starts to fall for the PC, but i know thay MY Sylvari ranger was definitely into her. her sacrifice only prompted him to head to the Mists after he helped kill Zhaitan, just in case she’s there in some shape or form
as for me, i just wanted to reach into the screen and hug the walking tree to death. she’s too energetic for her own good
i think Occam pretty specifically says he forged the green armour using his favourite hammer (or at the very least hammered it into the shape he wanted) …just because it looks like it’s made of plant matter doesn’t mean it actually is
As for dragons saping power… I’m not sure about that. Seems they almost exude it. Too much of it corrupts, but more is definitely being put out there.
according to at least one quest, magic in general is getting less as the dragons start to stir
i wasn’t even aware there’s a dedicated RP server… i’m on Kaineng and i rp when i explore the world (except for WvWvW, no time for it there, at least not actively)
yes please… i often had to choose between a useful rune and a piece of armour i wanted to keep. an extractor would really help and would be well worth the extra space it’d take in the bag
