My only objection to the name is that I am not clear about how it should be treated by charr, both the Scrappers themselves (who may or may not be scrappers in the charr sense) and the rest of charr society.

Beyond that, however, it is perfect for what the elite specialisation is supposed to be. Both (or all three, if the above objection is resolved) meanings of it work nicely.

Broken for me, at least on firefox 40.0.3 (fedora and win7), haven’t checked on other browsers yet

Going by the bolded parts alone, skimming over the rest:
1&2) Build Templates are a must, especially if they include weapons. Should have been in the game since launch. It was in GW1 after all.
3) The game suffers from a pretty low risk/reward ratio. This needs to be fixed one way or the other.
4) Yes please. It’s really annoying getting extra bags just for one character.
5) Cultural armour and weapons may as well be reduced to skins only as far as I am concerned.
6) A million times yes. Can’t say I understand why it isn’t so already.
7) A tricky one to pull off, but it would be nice for many people (won’t affect me for a while). It will be even better if they add OpenGL (Vulcan) support …what? I can hope.

All in all, solid suggestions there. I won’t hold my breath for most of them though…

Don’t all* professions use magic in some shape or form? It’s just that, till now, Warriors simply used magic in a more physical/primal manner.

• Ok, not sure about Engineers using magic, unless they are asura (magitech is still magic after all).

Some of us just use whatever skins make sense for specific characters. Of my 21 chars, only one is using the white wings and only one is using the black ones (and only during Halloween). I know many others that follow this mentality.

That said, I’ve seen far more whites than blacks around. …and yes, I’d rather they moved a bit more naturally.

i am curious though, why do you want to outright remove a craft? just never use it, problem solved. the only “downside” is that you’ll pay more if you switch back to it at some point, but you’ll keep all the recipes and rating you have now

Not sure an official RP server would be a good thing. I’ve been on Kaineng since launch and help run one of the few (only?) RP (PvX) guilds there. Can’t say I ever had trouble finding people to RP with and that’s doubly true after the megaservers became a thing.

Because of the nature of our RP (not limited to the “tavern” or “city” style, popular in DR, but mostly out on the field) we’ve come across several people that would have not considered RP otherwise. Some we dragged from PvP, some from WvWvW, some from Fractals, etc

In the end, the RP community as a whole gained from it. Even those that didn’t join my guild, started entertaining the idea of roleplaying and sometimes tag along us or other RP guilds. This would not have been possible if there was an echo chamber RP server.

An odd thing I only recently noticed, is that the Sigil of Demon Slaying (or some such) gives a bonus against elementals. No idea if that impacts the lore regarding either any.

Deleting the extra textures seems to help. I was able to upload the zip file without a hitch.

Anet has already said that the elite specs we’re getting with HoT are only the first batch. More will follow, either in regular updates or coming expansions.

Of all the suggested names so far, only Warden comes close to what the spec is supposed to be, both thematically and mechanically. The only problem is that it’s already used in game for other purposes (and unlike Reaper that is a OoC title, Warden is used IC).

Still, I’d rather have it than any of the other suggestions so far and especially over the laughable “Dragonhunter”. Paragon and Sentinel should be reserved for a different Guardian spec.

If they follow the current trend with specialisations, it will be something Elementalists currently have.

Mesmers got necro stuff, Guardians got ranger stuff, Necros are most likely getting warrior stuff… so yeah…

If that_shaman’s calculator is a good indicator of how things will be in HoT… I have no clue whatsoever. I’ll probably have to rebuild all 5 of my rangers from the ground up, as far as traits go. One of them is going to go Druid but beyond that…

With 20/45 characters in game at the moment, 0 of them are female. The only reason for that however is that my GF has covered that part of the game and we usually play together so I get to see how various skins look on females and my chars showcase the male version for her. Nothing wrong with playing either gender, especially if it suits a char concept better.

That said, I do agree norn women are very nice to look at… for scientific purposes of course.

Only jumping puzzles that annoy the kitten out of me are the ones that have a time-based component. Vanishing platforms, water sprays, etc… not really my thing. I won’t even get into Griffinrook…

Having dedicated slots for the possible weapons the char can wield would be awesome. One implementation would be the weapon sets we had in GW1, but with the weapons not taking up inventory slots. Another option is more or less what OP says.

Have to admit I am not thrilled about the name either. I don’t have any good suggestions (that haven’t been given already) but a more unique/smooth/pleasant name that fits the same theme would be welcome (and I go by the assumption this specialisation is the result of a guardian learning a few tricks from a ranger. specifically, Braham from Eir).

Not really, no. If, for whatever reason, I was forced to though, I’d stick to ranger. I love exploring all the options and possible builds in the game and I’ve written a character for each race/profession. 20 of those are in already, 25 more waiting for slots to be on sale. Each of them uses a different set of skills, weapons and traits, depending on rp and part of the fun for me is trying to make them work in PvX.

While the term “race” is used in game, keep in mind we’re talking about different species here. I don’t think it would be anywhere near normal for such relationships to form. Friendships between species on the other hand… those are common as skritt.

Yeah, that’s gonna help the game a bunch… how about no. As others said, if you really want to exclude someone from your group, add it to the description, then kick them if they join. Anything else is elitism of the worst kind.

Best solution would be to make them both skins and outfits

While I agree that some maps have a few hearts too many, keep in mind there are different ways to complete them. Some of them are more rewarding in terms of completion percentage than others.

changing the flames would be pretty awesome (just think of blue fire guardians or green fire necros)

…on the other hand, this is Balthazar’s Regalia. changing the colour of the fire would make them less so.

did they get to keep the stuff they earned/unlocked due to the bug? (don’t really mind if they did, titles aside, just wish i had gone in to grab a couple of skins myself)

I’d do what I’d do anyway, if I had the time. I’d continue playing both till I earned all possible HoM rewards for GW2, then focus on the newer game almost exclusively, unless there was some juicy piece of lore I wanted to check.

yeah, mantle works on nvidia. don’t quote me on this, but i am fairly certain it also served as part of the base for vulkan as well.

first of all, it’s A-net’s game and their rules, when it comes down to it. but i find censorship in general to be a very slippery slope and when it comes to any discussion regarding “offensive” language, I side with Carlin, Hitchens and Fry and their general attitude of “aww, you’re offended. ok, and your actual point is?”

That said, 99% of the chat i’ve seen in game (in my “native” NA servers, despite being european) has been pretty in line with what common sense (that rare superpower) would dictate for public discussions. Aside from scammers and gold-sellers, i’ve only had to block two people for a short time because they were flooding LA chat with irrelevant (to me) nonsense. Those saying GW2’s community is toxic… have not been out there long, or far.

Even us roleplayers go for speed runs sometimes, but yeah… the solution to the OP’s problem is finding the right group, whether it is a guild or a scene-friendly pug.

Every old gem item should eventually return, including the old town clothes (as skins, please).

no supersampling and i have the terrain LOD distance at low, but everything else is at highest (yes, ultra shadows too).

no clue what my fps is with sweetfx/gemfx though. every time i tried either the game wouldn’t even run.

I’m getting ~40 fps at max settings (1680×1050 due to monitors) on a nehalem i7 920, with 6gb of ram and a gtx295. If i can get there on a 6yo pc, then a modern one should be able to do much better at far below $1000.

I’d sooner push for Vulkan than DX12, though that both paths have a near-zero probability of happening. I do admit I am rather selfish about it though, all things considered. If GW2 ever switches to DX12, that’s when I’ll be forced to stop playing for a variety of reasons not entirely under my own control.

Whether it is story mode or explorable, if someone is watching the cutscene i’m waiting for them. That said, unless agreed upon beforehand, it is generally bad form to make the group wait when in explorable.

In either case Kreapn, try with a different group next time, but do let them know, one way or the other. Or just poke people like Lord Arhan Warmark and me.

Ranger as the high health one makes more sense from an IC point of view. And no, I am not saying this cause I like playing rangers.

Just adding my voice to those supporting downed state, with added support for Orpheal’s idea about the dual stats. To some of the other posters I simply have to ask why you want to turn GW2 into something it’s not (and not in the good way).

And just so we’re clear, only one of my 20 chars runs ’zerker (most pieces, not even all) and I never had any issue finding a group for dungeons, even when going full PUG.

Pretty much what Pookie and others have said. I won’t go as far as to say that those wanting to roleplay a “sexy” (in a human sense) charr are doing it wrong, but …eh, it’s not exactly GW even if you come up with a dozen justifications for it.

To all those that bring those “poor offended Europeans” as an excuse to feel offended themselves by the prank… have you actually stopped for a moment to realise not all of us are oversensitive little kittens that can’t handle adult life in the real world? In such situations, those that would honestly be offended by such a prank, would have to find another way to distract themselves from their grief for the day. It’s what grown-ups do.

Its the type of prank and its timing, highly unsensitive.

Sometimes there is a funny film due to be shown on the tv one week, but something tragic happens in real life that relates to the film in some way, the film gets rescheduled..

On topic now, a “Turn Off” button would be nice, but unless it was only activated after a certain duration already in game, it would be contrary to the spirit of the day. Even that, only because some people have limited time for the game.

I was getting the dreaded c0000005 crash for a couple of days now, thought it was related to changes in the nvidia control center as the timing fit.

Using -windowed solved the issue and the game seems to be able to go fullscreen after that

started having the exact same issue. i am suspecting it has something to do with settings in nvidia control center, not sure though. if you managed to solve the issue, do share
