we did pay $/€10,- for a skin, why do we need to ether farm/grind the chargers or pay even more for the skin?

i dunno about you but i have more things to pay for then a game and my incomes isn’t exactly perfect, i also don’t have all the time in the world to farm my butt off just for some gold.

The game, unlike many others, allows you to buy nearly anything with your choice of gold (earned in the game) or cash (spent on gems); you can exchange the one for the other, so in effect, the game allows you the option of spending money or time. From my point of view, that’s very generous compared to most other games. (Heck, WoW still charges you a monthly fee even if you don’t play.)

If I understand you correctly, you’re suggesting that the game should also cater to people without money or time. If you can offer a constructive suggestion for how ANet might turn a profit from that, I’m sure they would consider it.

i already did but no one listens like always, i have given up on explaining everything for them, if they are not smart enough to think of a solution a humble player can solve then i see no hope in such a dev team.
last time ppl ignored my ideas it became clear they had better listen, i’ll give some feedback at some things but in the way things go it’s just hopeless.

Now, give us Anise's armor.

i will never ever exchange my gems, gems i bought with hard earned money…

ah, so you’re saying that if i want to buy something quite expensive i need to waste about a year of farming just to get it?

oh and btw, when i buy gems and exchange it for gold i earn it just as much, the difference is that the exchange is screwing the real money payers and promoting the gold farmers, the one thing Anet should reverse.

If you never use gems -> gold anyways, why does this bother you? In any case, you can farm gold either in game, or in real life. Decision is yours.

read closer, i will never exchange gem->gold with this low exchange rate, i will if i get a respectable amount.
yesterday i was checking what i could get for 30 gems, just a pathetic 3g.
if i bought it with gold then i could understand but i bought the gems with real money, i would expect a bit more then such a pathetic amount.

30 gems is 36 cents, would you work for 60 minutes for 72 cents? are you seriously saying that paying someone 72 cents per hour is way too much?
I personally dont understand why anyone besides master TP traders is selling gold for gems.

only explanation, is though they dont make much per hour, they dont have enough things of any value to spend gold on.

i dunno about you but i have more things to pay for then a game and my incomes isn’t exactly perfect, i also don’t have all the time in the world to farm my butt off just for some gold.
when i spend real money on a game, i better get my money’s worth.
also, you’re looking at dollar prices, europeans pay way more then dollars, more then VAT and euro prices combined.
try again…..

it’s really simple, face to face trading go’s directly to the player, the mail system requires you to type the character’s name in order to mail the item and when you’re just mailing it to a random person it becomes quite a chore, especially when the character has an obscured name.
it might sound silly but face to face trading is at least 3X faster and requires allot less chores.

i know it’s hard to let someone else lead the way but if you are as good in leadership as you are in knowing how to play a necro or engi (so, not at all) then you have no right to talk important, a true leader doesn’t talk crap about one or the other just because of a build or profession, (s)he actually asks the experience and plans the strategy accordingly.

+1 for dueling as always. wishful thinking though, I highly doubt they’ll implement it.

Again for the people who don’t want to duel, put in an option to ignore requests, simples. Doesn’t mean it should be cut out of the game completely just because some people would rather not duel their friends. That’s just silly.

Dueling is PvP and A.Net said their system design for the PvE side WAS NOT DESIGNED for any type of PvP.

That is why there are arenas in the sPvP area.

That isnt going to stop people from asking for it, arena net should just implement dueling in so people stop asking for it. Just because some people are scared that someone will laugh at their poor dueling performance it doesnt mean people don’t want it lol.

Nope Anet shouldn’t add things just because people ask for it. They should only add if it if it fits their vision for the game. My guess is that it doesn’t.

Then i guess their vision of the game doesnt include a large PVP scene l0l. There is no way people will take the PvP as seriously as WoWs if you cant even duel people.

are you frikin serious?
GW2 is 2/3 PvP, only 1/3 is PvE and even that is divided between open world, dungeons and fractures.
really, be glad there is as much PvP as GW2 offers, any other game simply doesn’t offer as much PvP even with duels.

oh and one more thing, the reason why so many games have a low PvE population is because of duels, GW1/2 has one of the biggest PvE crowd because PvP and PvE are separated, in WvWvW combines them but you still need to get there specifically.
i would have walked away from GW1 if duels were introduced and i am certainly not the only one, i am really happy GW2 keeps this up.

if you are so concerned that it will not be as popular as WoW, play WoW but leave GW2 alone in that regard.
in fact, because there are no duels in PvE GW2 is one of the most friendliest PvE environment, sure there are some rotten apples but every single game has that.

That is so close minded, Mist WvW is a karma farm, WvW points system is flawed if you actually WvWd youd see all the complaints. PvP is the only thing that is given attention, a lot of games have Pk servers, Dueling, arenas, pvp so you must be living under a rock to think gw2 has a lot in regards to PvP. Also i quit WoW because it’s old, gw2 doesnt cater to PvPers wants as much as other games, i can complain about it as much as you PvErs complain about no endgame. Don’t be so close minded when you don’t know what you’re talking about.

LOL btw gw2 is one of the friendliest games not because of Dueling, do some research please. The major toxic issues in MMORPGS are the hardcore PvEing compared to PvP. Guild wars 2 does not allow third party mods like DPS meters, you cannot tag mobs, everyone gets a reward for participating, therefore no ninja looting. Please go experience MMORPGS before joining in a discussion where you bring them up.

all i see from you is “meh meh i want duels, you know nothing and i know more then you do”
i have bin playing MMO’s from 2005, have tried every single kind of MMO and know plenty about game development.
it’s more likely you need more research, the most toxic kind of player are the duel extremists and believe me, there are tons of them in every single MMO. (yes, even here where duels don’t exist in PvE)

grow up and talk normally, only then i can take you seriously.
right now you’re commenting like a spoiled arrogant child, a child that only wants his way and pushes away anyone that doesn’t agree with you.

if they really want more money, they should make the gem->gold exchange higher so ppl can buy gems with real money and get a real profit.
and if the really want to cash in, make a different kind of gems that you buy with real money so the gold->gem exchange can’t be exploited that way.

i will never ever exchange my gems, gems i bought with hard earned money, for a lousy amount of gold.
if it’s 100 gems for 100 gold then i see something good in it (still not much but better), for now 100 gems gives me a pathetic 9-ish gold.

-snip-

-second, I dont think it is logic to buy gems to exchange them for gold, if u want gold play the game to earn it, if u want something from the gem store, buy gems, either with gold earned in-game or real money earned …in-life.

ah, so you’re saying that if i want to buy something quite expensive i need to waste about a year of farming just to get it?
the gem→gold exchange is there for a reason, with your logic they can just as much remove the whole exchange feature.
also, you’re using two standards here, it’s ok to exchange gold for gems but it’s not ok to use gems for gold.

oh and btw, when i buy gems and exchange it for gold i earn it just as much, the difference is that the exchange is screwing the real money payers and promoting the gold farmers, the one thing Anet should reverse.

i sometimes have a weapon that is way to low level for me but a different player can use this weapon right now, if i could simply give the weapon it would improve socialization, for now all i can do is mail the weapon in the hope that given player is planning on wasting X copper/silver for a weapon.

Nothing it stopping you from mailing them that item…which is free. If the person is in your guild, drop in the guild vault for them. My husband and I mail stuff back and forth between our accounts all the time. Guildies regularly leave things in the vault for other guildies. Its not like there aren’t other options when you want to just pass something to someone else.

no wait, i was confusing GW2 mailing system with the one in LOTRO and rift.
still, if i could at least drop my stuff outside cities (so it doesn’t clutter the city to much) then it makes sharing stuff allot more fun.
also, if i have something that is dirty cheap but i want to get rid of it, i rather drop it so someone else might have a use for it.
i just find keeping stuff a bit greedy when i have no use for it, there are even boosters i find completely useless yet all i can do is ether use it or destroy them, if i could drop them for someone else to pick up then i would gladly drop plenty of them.

Remember when anet made T3 human cultural flame armor in gemstore accesable for everyone?

The major things were that it was the only cultural set to be released to everyone and that it actually cost less than buying it from the vendor.

and their “fix” is using a craftable armor instead of simply adding more cultural armors, or simply lower the price so it’s not the most expensive skin in the game.
that’s Anet’s logic, instead of making more money by making more skins, they screw up something they already added, having allot of ppl asking for a refund.

Just play with necro mark AoE-spam and then play as stricte support role and you’ll understand.

Irony of Ironies is Staff isnt a damage focused weapon, dagger is the Major Necro DPS..

Staff is a support/Crowd Control weapon primarily.

So Ironically the example you just gave is how play Support / Control can be pretty rewarding too.

then why am i doing more damage with my staff?
no really, what i do with my staff against whole groups makes dagger pale in comparison, and daggers are single target focused.

Dagger is indeed single target focus but not scepter / dagger. Add in Epidemic to the mix and you shouldnt be doing more damage then if you were using your staff.

Not that staff is useless, I love it kittene it a lot myself but mainly for support and control if your intention is to do raw damage staff isnt really the best choice.

scepter is really horrible, it agro’s more and more enemies without even a shred of control.
that’s why the staff is superior, you can control what you hit and see where you aim.
the better way to use DPS is by using dagger/horn, with that you can do both single and AOE DPS in one go, add well of corruption and even objects can be destroyed within seconds and bosses can’t do a thing to stop you from doing DPS (beside KD/KB of course)

What I don’t understand is players who are so in love with different games they keep trying to make GW 2 like those games (I’m talking about GW1, WOW, etc). If you like those games so much just go play them and let us GW2 players worry about GW 2.

so i can buy a dolyak as a mount from the gem store?

The culture of Tyria has evolved beyond the need to make beasts suffer to transport us from place to place.

This is ethical.

To force beasts to suffer to transport us, when other means are readily available is to be cruel and egocentric. This is from a Lore perspective.

From a Non-lore perspective. Just because you want a Dolyak to ride, doesn’t mean that Anet needs to redesign the game to provide one.

Before you can expect them to do so, you need to provide compelling reasons for them to devote the resources, time, and energy to provide it while many others in the community feel those resources could be used better elsewhere.

Neither:

1. It would be cool.

nor

2. I want it.

are compelling.

it gives them a sizable profit, something they are more then eager to put time and resources in.
oh and nether:
i don’t want it
nor:
it is not needed
are reasons not to add them, it is, in fact, needed for a big enough group.

i wonder, how does a mount, something that can only be used outside combat, isn’t allowed in cities and will be disabled around jumping puzzles, be in any way unbalanced?
do you ppl even know what balance entails or is it just an attempt on an excuse?

it is unbalancing when it comes with any type of speed boost. This is what many want from a mount.

someone said " 50 % to 200 % speed boost" simply because other games have that.

So when speed boost is balanced …. different for different classes. A speed boost mount is unbalancing. The only way I can see it as balanced is, if the Mount occupies a utility slot, and mearly duplicates the speed boost of one of it’s abilities.

Purely cosmetic mounts is not what many pro-mount people want.

As someone once said " I want my mount to DO SOMETHING" Does that sound purely cosmetic to you?

but why does it unbalance anything, all you say is that it gives someone the ability to move faster but if everyone has a mount then it’s still balanced.
i never asked what a mount does, i asked why is a mount unbalanced.
and before you use the utility excuse again, everyone can use the mount without using a utility slot, no one, not even you or i has any advantage above anyone.

In this game, we have temporary speed boost. And the developers decided that some professions have better access to speed Boost that others. They decided that some professions can do faster speed boost, or do it more often.

That is what Gw2 is.

To give everyone a universal non-utility speed boost that is exactly the same for all, and lasts the same time for all, undoes the balancing work the devs have put into each speed boost in each profession.

They also want that if you WANT the speed boost you need to either use a specific offhand weapon…..or…a specific utility. Which obviously means swapping out another weapon or utility that may be better in combat. This is kind of obvious.

If ALL professions Now get a speed boost that lasts equally, and for the same amount of time, without either being tied to their off-hand, or the utility slot, that undoes the work the devs put Into tieing speed boost to either the offhand skill, or the utility skill.

THIS is the Game we are playing as it is envisioned by the developers.

You wish this game to be another game. You don’t wish to play the game that the developers provide. It seems to me that you dislike the game that the developers are providing, but whether you like it or not… this is the game the developers are providing.

If a speed boost mount is a deal breaker for you, all I can suggest is maybe playing another game that has speed boost mounts?

So what you are saving is to remove all player opinion base content? could of sworn this was a community fan base game. or has it turn to a political stance?

Not at all. But you need to accept just because you have an opinion about speed boost mounts and your desires for them, doesn’t mean I don’t get to tell you why I feel that your desires are bad for this game.

I have never said you shouldn’t say " I want speed boost mounts"

My only problem is when players give a multitude of reasons why speed boost mounts are a bad idea and those that want them simply repeat over and over. either

1. I don’t understand.

or

2. I disagree.

especially when they do not engage, they just say " But I want it. and I should have it. Give me reasons why I shouldn’t have it." that they then ignore.

Here is the ONLY reason those that do not want speed boost NEED.

" We are content with the developer’s current and consistent choice to not provide mounts"

I never said speed boost mount. All I want is MOUNT, I don’t care if it had buff or not, a MOUNT, what it is consider a mount not this flying broom crap. I don’t care how much it cost or how it is obtain. And thank you for not saying anything bout player base opinion it only applied when you or whoever feel like using that in an argument which this is a double standard

While you may only want a mount. A cosmetic only mount, this is not a conversation with only you on one side, and others on the other.

This is a discussion forum with others on your side that want speed boost as well.

You cannot expect people to only engage you on " Cosmetic" only when there are 5 or 6 other posters that agree with you, that want more than just cosmetics.

If you want a cosmetics only mount there are mounts On the TP, maybe buy one of those ?

so i can buy a dolyak as a mount from the gem store?

i never asked what a mount does, i asked why is a mount unbalanced.
and before you use the utility excuse again, everyone can use the mount without using a utility slot, no one, not even you or i has any advantage above anyone.

Because not every profession gets a speed boost or motility buff, and they are in fact designed to NOT have them.

and where is your prove that they are not designed to run a bit faster, better yet, what part makes them unbalanced?
in PvE a speed buff is almost essential to get to places fast enough, in sPvP it has no place regardless of profession, i can’t judge about WvW because i don’t know how essential it is out there.

the end result about mounts is simple, it’s not about if it’s needed or not, it’s about if ppl want it and there is a clear amount of players that do want them.
if you don’t want them, don’t use them but don’t demand a stop on something you don’t like, that’s just selfish.
i don’t like scepters and focuses on any profession but you don’t see me demanding Anet to remove them, they can use an improvement across the board but if i don’t like them, i just don’t use them.

Will Anet ever make Non-DPS role important?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

the only way to break DPS depending groups is by making dungeons depend on conditions, places where regular damage simply doesn’t work and where conditions are the only dmg dealers.
or what about a dungeon where DPS simply has no use, you need to gear on defense and dmg avoidance, regen if needed.

DPS is bad because some professions lack the so called “meta DPS”, conditions and boons on the other hand is one thing every single profession has plenty of and is somewhat equal on power.
that, and i see allot of players focus on perfection rather then fun, i see them as players who simply don’t have any idea what a game is all about.

it’s to late to completely remove traits …

Yes, and thank God for that. I don’t need some new system similar to a game I never played. The original way GW2 traits worked was great. The only thing I like about this new system is the ease of changing the trait build. I would even be happy if they charged for that service, if they needed a way to make money, just as long as they put the old system back. I would also be OK with trait unlocks if the tasks were more appropriate for the trait level and/or were from a pool of tasks.

wait, so you don’t want something that you don’t even know anything about…….i really can’t take you serious right now.
i play GW1 for +9 years, i know exactly how this new system would work.
you on the other hand have absolutely no say in the matter because you don’t even know what you’re talking about, the worst part is that you rather want it even worse then what it already is.

gather facts before posting like that, you can’t expect to be taken serious with such a baseless post.

Legendary Armor?

with how ugly the ascended armor looks and how so many ppl force better and better gear, i rather see them equalize all armors so even white armor is useful…..they can just as much remove all white armor on lvl 50+ and let armor merchants sell masterwork armor only with how Anet handles armor -_-

i wonder, how does a mount, something that can only be used outside combat, isn’t allowed in cities and will be disabled around jumping puzzles, be in any way unbalanced?
do you ppl even know what balance entails or is it just an attempt on an excuse?

it is unbalancing when it comes with any type of speed boost.

As someone once said " I want my mount to DO SOMETHING" Does that sound purely cosmetic to you?

but why does it unbalance anything, all you say is that it gives someone the ability to move faster but if everyone has a mount then it’s still balanced.
i never asked what a mount does, i asked why is a mount unbalanced.
and before you use the utility excuse again, everyone can use the mount without using a utility slot, no one, not even you or i has any advantage above anyone.

it’s to late to alter the trait system, best they can do is remove the whole unlock crap and keep the traits in the profession from point 1.
better yet, i would love to be able to use master traits earlier, needing to grind to lvl 60 is not needed and has no benefit to the game.

are you saying it’s to late for them to revert this new trait system back to the old trait system the game came out with? Because you’re wrong. There’s no such thing as to late when dealing with programming. If you coded it to change, you can code it back to the original.

it’s to late to completely remove traits and make a better system that actually works in a wider aspect, they want to make it more like GW1 so a proper system is needed to make it that way.

they payed for the game, they have every right to keep their name.
sorry to burst your bubble but how would you feel if you return to give it another try and be forced to rename all your character, i bet you’ll be kittened.

Why don’t the moderators do something about these duplicate threads?

Can’t this topic just be buried in the suggestions forum where it belongs?

if they do the same with duel threads then be my guess, if not then i welcome any mount thread.

it’s not bad, just a slower version of the same thing we want to get rid of.
as long as they’re not gonna make dialogs as interactive as SWToR i just can’t take their story serious, i want to be involved and choose the right action for my self but if Anet constantly holds hands it’s not gonna work.

GW1 players how do you feel?

the big difference is skill needed, you can pretty much get trough everything in GW2 with even the worst weapons, you’ll die the instance you have the wrong build in GW1.
really, at times i almost want to close my eyes and listen to what happens, just position the mouse correctly and i can steamroll everything.
in GW1 however i need to keep an eye on everything, one wrong move and i can end up with 3 groups against me and believe me, some areas are not something to mess with.

however, the big problem GW2 has is that it’s possible to go everywhere on your own but you depend on other players when doing dungeons/fractures, in GW1 everything is already made for team play and they have henchmen/heroes to replace human players. (something they should really add to GW2, even if it’s just for dungeons)

it’s just that, in GW1 you can depend on each other the roles are clear and you can focus on fighting your enemies, if no player is around all you have to do is press “P” and choose your hench/hero team.
in GW2 there is just to much bickering about what gear you should take, which weapons you take, which traits you should take, etc…
Anet ones said that they want to make a game for the community, all they did was make a game for ex-WoW players who don’t want to do quests.
allot of GW fans (and no, i am not BSing you) ether never left GW1 or bought GW2 and hate it, there are even players that bought GW2, tried GW1 and left GW2 simply because of how much fun GW1 is.

i am not saying GW2 is horrible, it has it’s moments and there are some fun things about it but it’s a farcry from a successor.
it has no strategy, no fun quests to do, no interesting story and worst of all, it’s so much focused on gear and traits that it’s more a traditional MMO and less GW2.

heh, there are korean exclusive weapons in GW1 and Anet never released them anywhere else, don’t hold your breath for this collection.
then again, this is the new Anet we’re talking about, the one that will probably ask 500 gems for 1 back piece.

Necro + Mesmer was my goto in GW1. Hard to beat Spiteful Spirit and Arcane Echo. I loved watching the mobs kill themselves. That being said, Dervish was a beast as well.

try ebon vanguard assassin support + arcane echo, it’s what i use on my necro and it makes even the hardest boss fall like a brick XD

keep in mind, in GW2 traits are only useful for a specific range of things, in GW1 the attributes you can improve makes every single skill more powerful in that line.
that’s the biggest difference, also keep in mind that GW1 doesn’t have traits to be gin with, making the focus on builds allot more convenient because all you have to focus on are the insignia’s/runes on your armor, weapon mods and your skills.

Achievements are way too hard

what’s the point on achievements in a game that only the small 5% can do?
see, go’s both ways.

Except that 5% is as accurate as me saying that 80% of people can do all of the achievements.

Everyone I know has been able to do the achievements. We do them as a guild. Never had any issue, and one of our players is a 9 year old…if 9 year olds can be members of the “small 5%” then might I suggest a different game?

let me correct you on that, this is what you wrote:
“everyone i know…”
and that’s exactly your problem, you assume that, because they have done it, everyone in the entire world can do it.
let me assume something for you, allot of them had help doing the achievements and had plenty of time doing them.

try it solo without help and just 1-2h per 2 days, don’t give me that whole “find a different game” crap, be helpful.

really, i get fed up with kids thinking they know better while constantly showing elitist behavior, is it really so hard to think both ways?
you’ve done it, power to you, so what is your advice, not elitist comment, how it could improve and how someone with barely any time to do the achievement.
