All I want is ONE new dungeon

what’s wrong with an easier dungeon, does it always have to appeal to hardcore players?
the current dungeons already suck because of this mentality, we really don’t need even more dungeons with HM in mind.

Except that dungeons are supposed to be difficult to begin with.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dungeon

… and an explorable mode, a more difficult mode which requires more co-ordination to play through and is unlocked after completing story mode.

read your own post, it clearly states explorable, never did it state “story mode”.
also, it also states co-ordination, we only have underground races……

dungeons fail in this because it doesn’t offer anything really fun, just a bunch of overpowered enemies only a group can compete against.

Yeah .. one of the many reasons i never understood the whole dungeon concept in MMOs. On one hand you should be something like a hero .. but every stupid henchmen in a Dungeon hits 5 times harder than you and has 20 times more hitpoints

Heck you can’t even kill a rat or a beetle in a dungeon alone.

ironically GW1 did dungeons quite well (except for exile), it’s filled with normal enemies but the circumstances are what makes it challenging.

Save GW2: turn WxWxW in GxGxG.

it’s already bad enough WvWvW is included as it’s now, all you’re doing is making it impossible for any PvE-only player….

casual is both fun and challenging, dungeons fail in that while JP’s are likely made exactly for casuals…..except for some JP’s that are not really JP’s but BP’s(battle puzzle).

dungeons fail in this because it doesn’t offer anything really fun, just a bunch of overpowered enemies only a group can compete against.
it also fails because it allows the option of rushing trough it, if it had some co-op puzzles it would make dungeons allot more casual and fun to do.
you might be against it because it slows down speed runs but be honest, a dungeon is made to have fun and to enjoy an adventure and no amount of speed runs are gonna have a priority above the main objective of a dungeon.

anyway, i would like to have some things to do within a fun and challenging way, it doesn’t have to be with monsters but with some challenging puzzles or an adventure that makes you think to get out.
better yet, i hope they’re gonna make something that doesn’t have any enemy at all, something that allows more cooperation and rewards the team for it’s good jup working together.

Weird lag

sorudo.9054

yes!, thats another thing, how can there be soooo much lag in instant content?? This is unplayable ):,

I wasn’t referring to the actual instances, but to the effect caused by the green map star for that particular stage, which happens in the open world version of Dry Top. The problem seems to be specific to that particular stage’s star icon graphic. The glow/highlight effect that appears when you mouse over the story/event tracker text for that stage is a massive white block instead of an animated ring/burst of light. A white block that seems to be a massive graphics asset capable of bringing my PC to its knees.

most likely a memory leak…..no one likes that because it doesn’t matter how powerful your pc is, it’s still gonna use more then needed.
i have a pc that can play this game 3X over and still play smoothly yet i get things like that too, i just hope Anet can fix this ASAP.

Making me sick when you see that 10€/$ is worth only 800gems !

Vs 800 point for XBox Live points for $10€. Or 800 NCoin for $10€.

Here’s Aion’s store if you want to compare prices.

http://store.aiononline.com/store/index

if you really want to talk prices, let’s talk about the prices in rift.
i can buy 1250 points for €7,50, allot of character-only stuff are about 30-100 points, account unlocked items are a bit higher but every single character get it even if it’s a new character.
i bought a mount for 1700 points which is unlocked for every character and had plenty left, payed only €12,50, try that in GW2 and we’ll talk.

FYI, i can get a costume piece for 15-30 points, when comparing the price of the points them self it makes the costume piece extremely cheap.

Game Updates: Traits

what we wanted: more flexibility in traits – we did got that
what we got as extra: allot more grind and traits locked away behind objectives way to far in the game – no one asked for that

what the solution would be: remove the extra, keep the asked feature.

helmets and hair

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

the reason why hair disappears is because it’s only big model, if hair is separated in two parts (upper and lower part) then helmets could be possible.

Or just add a default hair to the hat model, less issues with trying to fit all the different kinds of hair under a hat or helmet.

which would screw up everything, while one has lose hair another has braided hair.
so in fact, my idea is simply superior, not just because of different hair styles but also because it saves time.
it’s faster to adjust the hair styles then every single helmet

You’d be adjusting every single hairstyle for every single helmet.

actually no, you only have to adjust the hair styles and not the helmets.
it would actually be dumb to do that, it takes allot more time and is unnecessary.

look at the picture, that’s how it could be done.
as i said, all hair that are not long or at least not around the neck don’t count so something like an afro is not a hair style that counts in this system, so any clipping issues someone could talk about simply doesn’t exist.
this picture illustrates how only the hair style needs to be adjusted, any helmet that allows hair coming from underneath removes the red area and keeps the blue area.
so even while your character will technically be bald you can still enjoy the hair style you have.
the game can then keep track of the hair style like always and not make the whole character bald, the only thing that needs to be done on the helmets them self is that they need to allow hair.
i have looked around with all helmets and some simply doesn’t allow it, they can be seen as exceptions.

the only hair styles i think might have issues are styles with a high knot, the norn has a really long tail for instance.
Anet could make something that shows hair but loose like temporary replacing the style until the helmet is set on hidden, makes it easier of such characters.

The sandstorm is quite nice.

edit: I was out actually taking screenshots of my ranger (pictured) in the sandstorm. I got annoyed when players randomly ran past me and lured an enemy into attacking me (I know it wasn’t intended, and just randomly running place to place) :P. Though I guess it’d been nice if perhaps the sandstorm effect was closer to the player.

My two screenshots feel as if my character is walking INTO or AWAY from the sandstorm, instead of being in the middle of it. Maybe it’s the camera being zoomed out that does that as well.

i can agree to the point that you can’t see anything beyond your character but i think they did this so you can at least see your character, you would “complain” just as much if you could see absolutely nothing, not even your character.

helmets and hair

one thing i really want is being able to see the hair from underneath the helmet, there are plenty of long haired characters in the game yet no one can really tell.
for instance, i have a female norn with braided hair, i would love to see them even when i have my helmet on.
i understand that this isn’t possible with every single hair style so i think Anet needs to find a compromise for them, hair already attached on the helmet when toggled on.

when you look at the style of GW1, i wonder why they even considered using the dirty kind of art in the first place.
we never had any complains in GW1 about the art style, better yet, we used it as a desktop wallpaper because it’s done so well.
now in GW2 i see more and more lazy art, not in a way of “they can’t draw” because i don’t think i can do it but more in a way that most ppl like to see a clear art style so there is something to look at.

the only thing that defines your choice is what comes most natural, DPS is only important when you care about farming and zerging, you can’t really survive if you only rely on DPS.
also, you’re not gonna play a profession if you don’t like it, see profs like ice cream, if you don’t like the taste why continue?

Just my 2 cents regarding the 'cassual' LS

in Living World

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

as someone who is as casual as anyone can get, i can say that casuals have plenty to do, just not in the LS or events.
for my perspective Anet only cares about hardcore players, proven with their “tournament” to rush a dungeon as fast as possible, something only hardcore gamers do.

i do agree that i like to see quality and Anet doesn’t get to the level of quality i am used to in the original guild wars, being an environmental artist my self (mapper) i find most maps they made and make quite low in quality and lacks immersion so much.
it doesn’t have the natural feeling i have when playing games like farcry 2/3 or skyrim/oblivion, to flat with some rocks to cover the flatness of the map.

beside the maps, their idea of a LS makes me wonder why they like this coaster so much, it’s not even living at all and the story has allot to desire.
when they released the mission bonus pack for GW1 it gave us more back story, it’s not the best but still, it has some merit and it doesn’t have a bad story at all.
in every chapter the story literally evolved more and more, engaging players to play further and get interested in the story.

the LS however is so plain that i gave up even carring, watching paint dry has a better story behind it then getting trough this white paper.
heck, even the process of making paper is more interesting…

i had hope that Anet would look back and see what they did right in GW1, all they did was looking at their mistakes and tried to improve it by using the same mistakes in the LS.
if they make the game more interesting with improvements within the battle system (fix the darn targeting system), make the world look so good that we want to explore the world and improve the story telling with fun-to-do (still objective) objectives we would be allot happier to play the game and yes, even pay for gems with real money.

good game=happy players=willing to pay more=profit
broken game=unhappy players=players rather leave=loss
