just no, i already think the whole “higher armor tier is better armor” crap is completely non-sense, i really don’t want yet another tier that screams generic MMO.
i rather have basic armor (white) as the basic of max armor but have higher tiers have better bonuses, like normal armor can have 2 bonuses but a masterwork can have 3 bonuses.

Anet is so busy to patronizing players but they keep on adding more and more tiers, over-complicating the game more and more.
I promise that you’re not being snubbed (Tachenon, you made me both smile and wince there, with your definition of the term). Please know this thread is serving a good purpose and that is is offering the dev team valuable information. The fact is, though, there’s simply nothing new to say on the subject right now.
We know that you’d like to have some info on this subject. But until there’s something of substance to say, devs wouldn’t post in the thread due both to their generally busy schedules and to our practice of talking about matters of this sort only when we’re able to provide something of substance, within a meaningful timeframe.
Having said all that, your input is extremely valuable, and that’s why it was requested back in April. We reached out to you, and you provided a good deal of insight, and of good value, too! With subsequent changes to the game, your input shifted to address current concerns. That’s very meaningful to those team members following this thread and we thank you.
We’ve said it before, but giving details about for a suggested change is better than saying “I don’t like it.” If you can say why, and give a proposed fix, that’s very useful to the team. You are not in any way obliged to do this, you know that and I’m agreeing.
I’m just making the suggestion to put the most value on your time in posting and the devs in reading.

As I’ve said before, and I’ll say it again, the following is my suggested change.
Add an account wide unlock for the traits upon completing the tasks required to unlock them (whether buying them or doing the open world portion). Not a class wide unlock, I mean across all characters. For example, say a player unlocks all the traits on their Guardian. They make a Necromancer next. When they unlock the adept traits at level 36, they will have all of them already unlocked and ready for use.
I suggest this because as of right now, the trait system discourages experimentation with traits because you have to keep unlocking them, even on new characters, and makes the game significantly less fun due to this. Since I recall it being said that the trait changes originally came into place to encourage trait experimentation (which it failed to do), a simple account-bound unlock would be good enough to make that statement true.
i agree with this if grandfathered characters unlock all of them right at that time, i never bothered to ether buy or earn traits because i find the unlock part ridicules even to it’s basic sense.
it’s already annoying that i have to wait till lvl 30 till i can even get a minor trait let alone grinding my way trough the game just for one single trait and on a higher level no less, veterans are right now being kicked in the balls with this system while new players wonder why we are so kittened.
i see two crowds, one is annoyed by waypoints in general and the other loves them and want more.
then you also have the story of “if you don’t like them, don’t use them” which can be said about mounts too.
i have a simple middle ground, have some really big zones with few waypoints only on really needed places and allow mounts in these areas.
the no waypoint crowd can now get to places where they want and the waypoint lovers can go where they need to go..
and one more thing, if you don’t like mounts, DON’T USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOTRO and RIFT are freemium as well.
in LOTRO you can get the credits while doing deeds, rift is completely F2P with a premium buff to purchase.
they are fair, STO isn’t.
i dont mean the fact that they sell it, i mean can players trade it for it the other way. Ie spend gold in game to get the currency.
in STO it takes an extreme amount of grinding and not GW2 gold kind of grind, see it 20.000x worse.
LOTRO grands you 5 or 10 turbine points for completing deeds, rift doesn’t have an exchange by in-game means but the credit price -> store price makes that not necessary. (you already have 975 credits for €5,- and the cheap mounts are 15 credits)

it’s exactly the same, they even use bundle deals to give more credit for your buck.
oh and don’t look at STO, they have even more expensive stuff then GW2 (try to buy a max level ship, it’s gonna cost you 25 bucks) and keep in mind, STO is a freemium game so you have a F2P and a P2P part.
if you want a better comparison, look at LOTRO and RIFT.

If they didn’t make the changes for veteran players, then there’s no way they can be patronizing veteran players.
Drytop is a new zone and certainly doesn’t patronize veteran players.

We want stuff to force ourselves playing the game because of our look – not because every-day content thats not really exists.Here is a “Serious” one:
Gem Purchase track: The more real money you spend, the more nice rewards you get. Example of total money spent rewards:
- $10 – 1BL Key
- $25 – 3Bl Key
- $50 – 5BL key + Mini pack of choice + “Black Lion Partner” title.
- $100 – Ascended weapon box OR a free weapon skin unlock of any BL kit.
- $150 – Ascended armor box OR a free armor skinpack. + “Black Lion Merchant” title.
- $200 – AN Supporter Superpack (lots of choseable goods)
- $350 – “Black Lion Trader” title.
- $500 – “Black Lion Broker” title
- $1000 – AN Supporter Gigapack (Also unlocks stuff you wouldn’t bother to get anyway, like Glorious armor skins) + “Black Lion Millionaire” title
Something like this. With these kind of heavy rewards, people will less likely to buy legendaries from third-party sites I guess.

GW2 needs better shading, bump mapping, skin texture, better material textures and by odin’s beard so much more.
just look at the ground textures, it’s stretched so much you can see the pixels and i have everything on max.
there are even areas where the texture is stretched so much on one side that all i see are stripes….that’s suppose to be rock……riiiight…
they have done some good work on certain areas but i am deeply shamed, as an environmental artist it makes my hand itch beyond believe.

they put more time in making the trait system work with unlocks then it takes them to make it the way we want it, all traits unlocked from the start and traits available from lvl 15. (giving you 1 point every 4-5 levels)

We all want a nice skill system that gives everyone quite some flexibility, the problem is that the only flexibility we have is within utility skill slots.
There are barely any healing skills and (AFAIK) every profession only has one single elite to use underwater, something that is simply not needed.
So to make things more flexible I introduce a system that makes the game a bit simpler but also gives the flexibility we all want.
Weapon slot skills
Weapon skill can now be changed just like utility skills, every slot has 2 alternative skill to be changed with. (so 3 skills per slot in total)
Weapons will now have a bigger diversity, they are now not made for just one role but can be changed to fill two roles in one.
All one handed weapons have five skills, when an off-hand weapon is placed it will replace the last two skills.
Skill improvement system
Before I explain this system I have to explain why I want this change, the skills we have now barely to never really improve but at the same time the trait system is way to specific.
To further explain my reason, Anet wanted to change the trait system to make it closer to GW1 but they actually made it worse and overly specifies traits again way to specific.
So to make it a bit more widespread I thought of this system, it will make player a bit more unique within their skills and improves the skills directly.
Every skill will have their own skill tiers, they are improvements to make a basic skill work better and diverse the player tactics.
Example, let’s take meteor shower from the elementalist.
First you have the basic skill, when you have enough skill points you can improve the skill by adding a benefit.
The first tier can be something like a choice between increasing the AoE or increasing the damage, you can only choose one but it will improve the skill.
Now the second tier can be a choice between more meteors falling down or a burning effect of 2 seconds after every hit, again you can only choose one benefit but it will improve your skill regardless.
You can do this on all skills, even on heal skills.
Not all skills has more then one tier of improvements, some have only one tier while others can have up to four tiers in a skill.
The higher the tier, the more skill points you need to improve.
Weapon skills have their first tier for free, no skill point needed.
Do keep in mind that a decision is permanent, you can’t swap for a different one.
There will be NPC’s offering a skill reset, everyone can make a mistake but to prevent on the fly advantages (in case of PvP) this needs to be added.
Trait system improvements
The trait system will now be unlocked from the start at level 15 but there are less traits to go for, this is because half the trait functions we have now are already in skills.
However, the traits will be changed to better deal with skills on a more widespread scale, traits will now for instance improve the range of all skills instead of one type of skill.
Let’s take the AoE trait of the necromancer, this is specifically made for marks on the staff, now it will improve every skill’s range that has a higher range then X range.
This will make the trait more beneficial for every skill instead of a select group, making it closer to what Anet intended, making traits work closer to GW1.
This will make the trait system easier to understand since it will not overly complicate the system, new player can now focus more on improving their character and all they have to do is choose what they want within a small amount of traits.
It grands space on enjoying the game, no need on reading a thick book about traits just to understand half their functions, simple is always better especially for a new player.
Underwater and utility skills (PvE-only)
Utility skill slots underwater now don’t share their recharge above water, the skills them self do.
The reason behind this change is so you are not at a disadvantage when going out of the water while using different skills above water, it will also make it easier to keep them separated entities.

every race will have it’s style (much like every race has their own ranger pets) and you will be able to unlock them by finishing a dungeon, killing champions or buying them from the gem store.
Playing GW2 is really fun and has much joy but can sometimes get a bit boring, almost everyone has the same pet or the same summon and it makes you look like yet another pawn on the chess board.
What I would like to suggest are skins for any summon/pet/minion in the game, they would be still within the boundaries of it’s respectful category.
Pet skins
pet skins are skins for the ranger pet you normally can’t get in the open world, this can go from animals yet to be added to skins from GW1 to skins from monsters.
What if you want to have a raptor as pet, you can’t get them in the wild but with this skill system you can.
Just think of a pet skin and you can get it, just imagine walking around with a dolyak for your norn or an oakheart for your sylvari, you name it.
Summon skins
summon skins are skins for any summon on any profession that has a creature as summon, like the fire imp from the elementalist or a shadow thief from the thief.
It will now be possible to make your summons look the way you want it to look, may it be a destroyer as fire imp or a geode as earth gollem, you decide.
Minion skins
minion skins are skins for the necromancer minions, away with the boring flesh skeletons and hello wonderful skins.
Have a grenth/lich king float beside you instead of a flesh horror or take a ranger risen as bone fiend, it’s your choice how they look.
Just imagine sending risen asura at your enemy and exploding them in their faces, the joy
banner skins
banner skins changes the borders (wood part) of your banner, now you can conquer your enemies with style.
Gear up your warrior with Nordic banners or smite them with dwayna’s blessing, you make it happen…..in style.
Illusion colors
illusion colors are colors to change the color of illusions for the mesmer, all colors are possible.
Now you can have illusions matching your armor or play as one of your favorite fantasy hero/villain, the choice is yours to make.
All skins can be changed in a skin tab on your hero screen (H on default), here you can manually change and manage all skins/colors.
Skins earned in-game are character unlocks, skins from the gem store are account unlocks.
You can preview all skins before applying and changing mesmer colors already shows an illusion next to it in the change color tab to clearly see the effect before applying.
i can confirm it’s not from GW1, the style doesn’t even match.

if Anet keeps on threating western players as asian players they have a hell of a battle to fight, only some things were wrong before the april and september feature pack, now entire core functions are screwed up.
we like content, we like to explore new lands, the one thing GW2 lacks.
however, we hate chores and we hate grind, the one thing GW2 has plenty of.
Night times should be darker, a lot darker. Most times I can’t even tell if it’s day or night as it’s really the same.
Going into a cave or forest in night should really be dark. Forcing players to start using items that give light (there are way more of them than just torches).
which puts ppl in a disadvantage when they don’t have such an item…
this is not skyrim, it isn’t even close to that quality and it never will, if it was then at least half the mistakes in GW2 wound not even exist in the game. (i know skyrim has it’s flaws as well but it blows GW2 out of the water if it’s about immersion.)
I dont know, actually assembling skins on a Hero panel screen, and then pressing ‘Make Outfit’ doesn’t sound so hard.
And somewhere, the outfit has to be stored, not as six object but a seperate entity. Also, An Icon has to be painted over it.
the storing of an outfit is as hard as making a character, even less so. (so quite easy)
tho, i rather have no outfits at all and have every current outfit separated in 5/6 parts, the one thing pretty much everyone wanted from the start.
i would not care about skimpy armor, i do care about having sexy armor and in GW2 there is absolutely none of them for both male and female.
the only two remotely sexy looking for the female is only for the NPC’s, the human noble dress and anise’s robe.
when talking about sexy armor you can only thing of female armor, the reason is because male isn’t suppose to be sexy but handsome.
i have made a picture of 4 armors (2 of each gender) that is sexy/handsome yet not skimpy, know the difference between sexy and skimpy please.
i did some screwing around with the farcry 3 map editor and started with the dam, this is between the lighthouse and the mountain next to the tengu wall.
keep in mind that all the details are from farcry 3, i can not add my own stuff so take it with a grain of salt.
the guns are meant to be made by both charr and asura, they keep the bay save and are made for both sea and air defense.

What’s the most offensive trait unlock location? I find the trait system revamp in its entirety to be offensive. I don’t think it makes the game better in any way, shape, or form. I think it made the game worse. I think it takes all the fun out of trying different builds, which makes it something we have to get through to get to the ‘fun stuff’. I don’t think any tweaking or adjusting will help.

i also want to see something new, pet skins.
this will give players the ability to change the skin of their pet in something they like more, like a raptor skin for a moa or a scorpion skin for a devourer.
just imagine how far they can go with this, we all know how loved rangers is among Anet (pretty much null) but adding this does add love to rangers, any fellow ranger would agree that more pets (or at least skins for pets) are welcome at any time.

Guild Wars 2 has two less professions now than Guild Wars 1 did it it’s whole life. That’s 20% less professions for those counting.
Guild Wars 2 has five times the races Guild Wars 1 has ever had. That’s 500% more races.
Guild Wars 2 has more variety in this manner than Guild Wars 1…and did so from launch.
i take 1 race and 10 professions above 5 races and 8 professions from launch all day long.
