i do agree with hats but…..what about the lovely and always sinister scar pattern.
i do like the dye undies part buy no, not the hair color.
IMO the HoM weapons should have an awesome effect like you see on legendaries, not with purple runic glow on it but with a sinister shadow around the fellblade.
i also think that HoM weapons with practically the same model should have a smaller/bigger version for the smaller/bigger weapon, i would love to have two 1 handed fell blades and a huge fiery dragon sword, but i digress.
yes to remove purple runes, yes to shadow effect, no to making it completely like the GW1 version.
TBH, it’s your own choice to buy an abyss dye, i never bought one because i don’t pay ridicules about of gold for just a dye.
account bound would help allot, no unlocking 10+ times the same dye and makes it easier to color your new toon the way you want.
better yet, in GW1 you can do this all the time so why not in GW2, it’s nothing more then a poor excuse to use the trading prices as a reason not to do it.
+1
by ‘class’ do you mean ‘profession’? I think they realize their TP could use some work so I think it’s just a matter of time before we get more filters.
profession is your job, class is the type.
different meanings for different functions, an armor class is the type of armor since the warrior and guardian profession are heavy class types.
afaik every single JP has a chest, some has 2 to get you off track when you’re not looking good enough.
i do think that, without making things to simple, lvl 80 places should still be a place where rare should be enough to solo the place.
i always find gear discrimination the worst, especially when the devs play along with it.
it’s the reason why i can’t stand the other MMO’s, all kinds of gear grind and no balance for casuals.
orr may be high end but it should still be do-able in normal gear, making exotic and beyond the only way to go is horrible game design.
i don’t use kits because it basically blocks my normal build from working, the ele can’t really be compared because they don’t have the problem engineers have.
an engineer can swap with a second but what good does it do, kits are to specific and at times are completely useless, eles can swap during combat without the player aiming it’s eyes to the skillbar.i use the rifle and turrets, because of the lack of weapon swap i grimp my self.
i find kits useless and obnoxious, they could improve them but i rather they keep it the way it is.IMO kits should simply block weapon swapping, the moment you simply equip one in your unity slot it should block it.
however, when you choose not to add one it unlocks the swap function, giving players the ability to make up their own mind over how they play the engineer.on every profession (except the thief) you can make up your own mind over what you do, the engineer is designed to simply force you to use kits.
that’s imo not ok, it should be a personal choice, forcing a function breaks the profession and makes it to depended on a feature.Ele’s can be compared to an engineer with a “lack of secondary weapon” as all 4 attunements are tied to 1 weapon set. They can’t have a long ranged weapon with a short range weapon like other professions can (hell, even engineers can achieve this with certain kits). I would love to have access to different weapons for different attunements (earth staff with d/d for the rest), but I can see how that would be out of balance with the other classes.
As for your comment about kits being specific to certain cases…aren’t all weapons like that? Sometimes you can’t melee so you need to switch to range (or vice/versa with reflects). With your place style you could easily swap to the Grenade kit if you wanted to stay ranged, it wouldn’t kitten you at all (in fact you would do much more dmg then dpsing with your rifle…)
(btw…if you wanted to place a turret class with weapon swapping abilities…you should have gone mm necro)
my main is a necro and MM’s in GW2 are really weak, i use minions but only to keep enemies at bay, the rest are wells and marks.
also, the necro i have is vastly superior then the engineer by the simple fact that it can do 3-5 jobs in one build, engineers barely scratch the surface to that.
if i could switch my rifle to pistol/pistol it would greatly increase my enjoyment, currently their claim about “it’s the spiritual successor to the ritualist” is hopelessly lost in shame and the rit doesn’t need a switch…….
Each to their own, i guess.
Have you not tried just equipping from your inventory?
A pain, yes, but in the absence of weapon swapping…a necessary evil.
in combat it’s impossible, so no use.
forcing a function breaks the profession
…unless the profession was designed that way.
Engineers gain versatility through kits and elixirs not through primary weapon choices.
Weapon swapping is ultimately pointless as we don’t have that many weapon combos – rifle, pistol/pistol, pistol/shield – to swap between.
i rather have some options then none…..
IMO the scythe should simply come back to GW2, in GW1 they were awesome and i am sure the art team of Anet can make some awesome scythes for GW2.
it would add a new weapon and more skills to play with, add that with all the scythe skins it makes this a perfect suggestion to go for.
i am all for supporting newbies but this, it just takes practice.
instead of going for JP, practice a bit of timing, eventually you’ll get the hang of it.
the only time i agree with you is when you are talking about a charr, that is indeed annoying as hell to use.
the US and EU servers are AFAIK separated, they could time the fix for EU earlier or later then the US version.
IMO they should be where they are, in PvE enemies should die the moment i kill them regardless of it’s rank.
that and i don’t see the reason on having a finisher, i have a finisher on my skill bar, it’s the one i kill the enemies with
i don’t use kits because it basically blocks my normal build from working, the ele can’t really be compared because they don’t have the problem engineers have.

what i would like to see is that basic armor merchants don’t sell the same armor regardless of where you are, a sylvari should not sell armor humans make, it should be based on leafs and that counts for every race.
further more, all the GW1 armors should return.
NOT through the GEM store but in-game, how i love to wear my elite cabal armor or my bonelace, not to mention the obsidian necro armor and the scarr patterns.
i am a marvel fan and since stan lee is the founder of marvel, yes please.
tho, it will take some time to get it done, disney is quite overly protective about their products and marvel is owned by disney.
the only way this might happen is when disney agrees to work with Anet to make a marvel-like expansion, could be an awesome april fools event.
i just hope a dev notices this one and thinks “darn it, how could i miss that”
i see it this way, if i can get them then yay me but i am not crazy enough to buy them for such a ridicules price.
so all the work put in to finding them is a waste of time then, they should at least make them sell-able by a merchant for 5s/pp
a small “heheh” would cervices, an animation might break what you were doing.
The only thing I think needs to be addressed on the open world is the respawn rates of monsters. In densely packed areas your progress is completely halted because it becomes impossible to solo large numbers of mobs without the original mobs respawning and joining back in the fight. Some kind of calculation should be done where if nobody is nearby and the zone is fairly empty then the respawn timer needs to be much much higher…maybe even 5 minutes or more.
Smart respawn timers I think would also go a long way towards making various areas more solo friendly.
this is my problem with temples, i was doing really well soloing the grenth temple but the respawns are around 10 seconds, 20 at most.
i died because of that, had the respawns kept it’s distance i would’ve saved a temple all on my own for the first time.
they already talked about player housing.

uhmm, what about keeping PvP out of PvE stuff, is it really fair that ppl who despise PvP are always left out of the good stuff…
IMO stats should stay normal, it’s ridicules to have legendary weapons be stronger then any other weapon.
if that’s the case then GW2 just became WoW2, grindfest with allot of geargrind.
no…just, no.
i don’t mind mounts as long as they stay on land, flying mounts are for both RPGers and game devs a nightmare. (they ruin the game’s immersion)
for GW2, i look at mounts the way i look at mounts in skyrim, they don’t have to be a problem as long as the game keeps players from simply ignoring enemies.
i can understand that you don’t want to wait for every single enemy but there are ways to keep it balanced, lotro has health on their horses and defiance has endurance on them.
ether by making them run slow when attacked or killed when attacked, there are ways to make mounts balanced.
i think that a speed of 40% is plenty given that they require a certain mastery, something like having 3 masteries.
1.) 20% speed for level 10+
2.) 30% speed for level 40+
3.) 40% speed for level 70+
it makes leveling have a use and keeps low levels in check.
Adding new weapon means adding and balancing new weapon skills, while already existing still isn’t tuned well. But I think rifle suits ranger’s woodman-style fine. Also, when you say “ranger” many people think of this guy:
actually when i think of a ranger i am more thinking about this:
http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/355/5/6/ranger_comm_by_yamao-d5ooiwz.jpg
a ranger with a gun is a horrible idea, i like the ranger as it is.
ad a dagger main hand but gun, no frikin way.
when search armor, one thing i never got is why they never added a class filter in the BLTP, this filter would separate light, leather and heavy armor.
to illustrate, you are a mage profession and you want some armor.
currently you go buy->armor->coat, this is quite messy and takes quite some time to find what you’re looking for.
the new filter is be buy->armor->coat->light, this filters things allot better and saves so much time.
Undead weapons anyone?
Also:
Eve armor
Fanatic armor
Necrotic armor
Scar Pattern
Eve armor
All necromancer prestige armor from Prophecies
Eve armor
Necromancer Elite Kurzick
Necromancer Elite Canthan
Eve armor
you forgot eve armor.
That’s not scamming. It’s location utility you’re paying for. Plus the ability to salvage said item.
why would you buy something to sell it later on, it’s cheaper to buy the mats directly and cheaper to buy the helmet and the mats then buying the helmet from the TP….
for what i know, orange and red is practically the same, the attack circles are also unclear because red and white can be the same for some.
it’s just that light colors are just that, something light, same thing with dark colors.
color blind mode makes some things darker and some lighter to identify it clearly for color blind ppl.
after a bit of leveling on my new character i found out that the TP is full of scammers, to give you an example:
i searched for a helmet lvl 10 (can’t get it lower anyway) and found one in the TP for 1S 9C, then i checked the merchant and found out i can get the exact same helmet for 80C.
what i would suggest in this situation is that the TP keeps track of merchant prices so it can’t go higher then the merchant sells, it will make scamming players a bit more difficult.
now i am smart enough to check the merchant price but some are not, they get scammed all the time because of this.
a more alarming scam are the trait books, the adept one is sold cheaper so that’s ok but the higher ones are sold more expensive.
they should put a stop to that, it gives the TP a bad reputation and i don’t thin you want to see that happening.
i do think field attacks should trigger on obstacles, attacking obstacles are already annoying enough.
mmm, so like heartfire of skyrim, nice idea.
that’s actually the problem in this game, there is nothing else but fighting and crafting.
mini games are practically ether way to easy or horribly designed and if you’re looking for some good RP places then you’re out of luck, even the jumping puzzles have enemies. (i find that simply not needed, a puzzle is suppose to be something to do for relaxation, not to be stressed with all the mobs that can kick you of at any moment)
i personally think they should look in to the small things, fishing is mentioned and some nice puzzles to solve can also be a really good activity to get off this slack from battle.
i have personally designed something called treasure caves to be used in MMO’s, i just don’t know if it’s a good idea to put this in GW2.
it’s a while ago since i written this so spelling/grammar check off please. >_<
Treasure caves
Treasure caves are caves with tests and traps to overcome, they are divided in rooms and each cave is random in it’s room choice so every treasure cave is different each time you enter one.
some parts are classic while another is quite new and challenging, with every cave you have an exiting yet fun experience.Entrance puzzles
At every cave, there is a puzzle to overcome, it can be all kinds of things.
Maybe you need to have 5 runes to open the entrance or do a layout puzzle, every puzzle is made to challenge every player to break their minds open to possibilities.Trap tunnels
The trap tunnels are the classic trap places with pitfalls and spike traps, you can ether avoid the traps by using your agility or speed, or disable them with the trap detection specialty.Hall of knowledge
The hall of knowledge is the place to test what you know trough your travels or to solve a riddle, it can be a test of lore or something that is said to solve.
Let’s say there are three ghosts, all three ghosts have a riddle but only one knows the actual answer, an example is needed.-ghost one: it is all the colors of the world, but has more sides then one, what is it?
-ghost two: a stone cannot have this, but a strong warrior doesn’t want it, what is it?
-ghost three: the world is full of it, and it’s both a strong and a weak thing to have, what is it?All three is talking about emotion, but answering to the wrong ghost makes the ghost hostile and you have to attack it.
Answering to the right ghosts grants you access to the next chamber or tunnel, or maybe this test was the last one.
i hope this helps, it’s just one example on what we might want to see.
i really don’t see why you ppl dissing this so much, what’s wrong with suggesting new armors for casters.
i personally think it’s a good idea, casters should not be all skirt or dress based.
take this picture for one, it’s a caster yet the armor is tight.
http://digital-art-gallery.com/oid/98/640x853_17015_Azure_Sorceress_2d_fantasy_illustration_mage_sorceress_picture_image_digital_art.jpg
if they would make more of them then it’s simply easier to get a full set, and PLEASE Anet, don’t put it in the gem store because it’s getting quite cheap now to sell armor skins for real money while the base game lacks diversity.
the only way for this to be possible is by making them instance based, if for instance you’re busy pressing buttons in the correct order any next player can screw it up big time.
making them instance based makes sure you can take your time and be sure things go right, if something go’s wrong then you’re the only one to blame.
i still see a cost problem, if the trait system is a gold sink then this system will work against that.
letting ppl to change it on the fly while still having a cost behind it makes the cost horribly abused, you need a huge amount of gold just to keep up with how much you need to pay.
so we have two problems, if changing builds cost solver every single time you switch it makes the gold sink (or silver sink in this case) just way to high, if changing builds costs nothing then there is no gold sink.
best of two would be a payment at front per template but no cost on swtching, the only down side to lower the build spam is a timer of 60 sec before switching again.
oh and not PvP-only, some ppl like to play PvE-only but would love this feature too.
frankly i am surprised ppl still dare to ask for duels, Anet has 3 kinds of PvP and it’s still not enough.
sPvP, WvWvW and cPvP, all PvE has is just that, PvE.
exactly, exploring would turn in to a flying mess, everyone takes a flying mount and explore everywhere without even one hint of a challenge.
Excuse me, but did I mention everyone gets a mount at lvl 1? I think not. Did you actually read my last post?
you are missing the point, even if it’s for lvl 80, it will still ruin the game.
exploring the game isn’t done 100% when you turn lvl 80, it’s done when you have seen every area of the game 100% and that makes flying mounts bad.
Ground mounts will ruin the game more because they are just “another NPC” in there similar to ranger pets. Flying mounts will not be on the ground as long as you are not riding them. Mounted combat will not apply to flying mounts landed on the ground.
ground mounts add environment and worldly progress, flying mounts add cheat and grief features.
So, to put it simple:
- flying mounts will make the WP system non usable while mounted (=if you are on a mount you cant teleport until you dismount.
foes on the ground may attack you if you are at a low altitude, you can get thrown/dragged off the mount too
then why the heck would i fly if being grounded is better.
- flying mounts will open up opportunities to add foes in the sky and a full set of events and hearts in one existing zone without filling up the land.
play perfect world if you want flying foes, in this game the best things happen on the ground.
and as i said before, i don’t mind sky enemies as long as it’s within restricted sky above the clouds.
- staying on a flying mount above the ground will not give you credit for the event happening in the ground as well as not count you as an active player for event scaling system. (=so you don’t do events, you get nothing)
doing events and hearts on the ground implies you are not using a flying mount.
so in short, why fly at all.
- flying on the mount at different altitudes will offer a varied spectator view for the players and will not replace the WP system. It will be a sort of optional choise for traveling within a zone because, unless you use the zone “doors” (portals) you will still need to use the WP to get to another zone.
you can skip entire areas with it, no reason to use a WP if you can simply ignore everything.
- Flying over WP, PoIs will not unlock them. The only thing you can unlock with a mount will be the fog.
so not only is it better to stay on the ground, you even proved my point about exploration.
- Flying mounts will be rewarded to players for completing certain goals, *maybe at lvl 80) so players will have enough time to explore the map on the ground.
which still proves it’s a bad idea, like i said before lvl 80 doesn’t mean you explored everything.
better yet, my lvl 80 never got to the orr area, with a flying mount that would never be an issue but as it is now it keeps me entertained without to much to add.
Oh, and to the other replier. I like guns in any MMO. Too bad there aren’t many.
And I would even like a jetpack or flying jet boots as flying mounts
you obviously don’t like how GW2 is, you rather have a mix of modern and fantasy.
so now my question to you, why not find a game that does have all what you want instead of asking something that ruins this game.
i already designed a system for duels and against duel griefing, arena teleporting.
you ask someone to duel when they have it switched on, the other one agrees and they are teleported in to an arena.
when they are done they are teleported at the exact place they were, just like when you go to the HoM.
-it removes spammers
-it makes duels fair
-duels don’t ruin PvE
oh and one more thing, the part where duels are on, that’s switched off on default to stop the newbie griefers.
rohan, all i see is “i want a flying mount” without any real reason, you even push away real issues with it.
mounts on the ground keeps the game fun, flying mounts ruin the immensity and destroys progress.
when playing an RTS what is the first thing you want to know?
exactly, what is beyond the fog of war.
what happens when you can take a flying mount?
exactly, exploring would turn in to a flying mess, everyone takes a flying mount and explore everywhere without even one hint of a challenge.
if you want a flying mount then fine, play a different game but stop justifying a feature that only ruins the game.
with a warrior, it’s annoying.
with a necromancer, it’s extremely frustrating.
so yes please, get rid of this pesky feature, it ruins everything.
arena’s=yes
open world=no
reason=lowers the spam by 95%
they should just simply add a town clothing merchant in each main city, it’s not just the starter one but also the ones NPC’s walk with.
speed buff, crafting XP bonus, jump a bit higher, you pick.
actually you have to be glad there is no plain blue, the plain red looks hot pink to me….
flying mounts are bad because it ruins immensity of the world, if you can just see from above how big the game is then there is no point in making any mmo look big.
ground mounts are good because even with just a 20% or 50% speed buff it adds immensity in the game, it gives you something to make the world look more alive and be a part of the world just a bit more.
about flying battles, it is a good idea but keep it in it’s own place and only there.
flying battles could be above the clouds and you have to get to a hovering base made by the asura, when you fall you don’t die but are ported to the base, unless you do die by a dragon which simply puts you in the base in a downed state.
the dye remover option only resets to the last saved colors, so it’s still a gamble.
