I think the suggestion on this thread would be something worth considering aswell:

Basically its an arena where you can select dungeon or fractal bosses to fight as a group or solo simply for practise or fun. You could also introduce gambits to the arena. There wouldnt be any currency or loot rewards to prevent farming. There could however be achievements tied to it and maybe even the prestigious mini lupicus (untradeable) for people who are able to solo lupi in a certain time.

Those higher level fractals dont exist anymore. So condi doesnt have a place anywhere anymore except for solo or for fractal instabilities like 43 and 44.

Also my build has changed slightly btw. I recommend people use 20/25/0/0/25 now which has lower DS cooldown which gives you an easier time at surviving with DS. 30/25/0/0/15 is still the best for absolute max damage, its just not practical unless your group properly carries you with might and fury.

Crit damage isnt worth as much as flat modifiers.

The highest high dps build would be 20/25/0/0/25. Theres no room for any points in valor.

The best way to get smooth runs is doing exactly what you refuse to do. Just saying. Going to downed state is not something you should worry about. It happens a fair amount in dps groups but when it does happen everyone can rally each other in seconds. For fractals and dungeons like arah you should always run double energy sigils just to be safe though.

If you do decide to reconsider your view on beserker and improve yourself then my signature has a guide for dps necros. Its a build specifically for dungeons and it works pretty well in fractals. For fractals you might change weapons and utilities a bit more often but it still works fine. You can also use rampager gear with it for fractals and change your weapon sets to include a bit more bleed in the build.

His regen isnt the issue. Its the prot and retal which makes him annoying. Which is why a boon removal mesmer is a far better choice than a necro. Having both works though.

Something I posted in another thread. Thought I would post it here.

I would like an ingame speed clear leaderboard and timer for dungeons and fractals. You could grant achievement points when a group clears a path in a bronze/silver/gold time. And the record times could be put into an official leaderboard on the website.

Its something that would appeal greatly to the higher end and more dedicated pve players (these are the type of players that stick around for the longest). It also gives others something to work towards to improve themselves and earn respect among other players. There shouldnt be any ingame reward changes for clearing a path in a certain time, to prevent elitism and blacklisting certain classes. It should simply be a leaderboard type thing with no ingame rewards apart from extra AP (maybe).

You do realise its meant as humour. And yes we do play how we want. But we have the common decency to run builds which benefit the group and make runs go smoothly and quickly. Which happens to be how we want to play (being helpful).

So the removal of the cooldown is advantageous for dummy-style PvE where you can run a strict rotation and optimize DPS without much concern for the boss teleporting or the ground spawning fire that kills you.

Yeah because It wasnt totally unwarranted.

Out of 5 of us we would get 2-3 skins every daily on 48 before the patch. After the patch weve only had 2 skins total between us and they were while we were doing the high 30’s and low 40’s.

Its the direct damage every 7 seconds instead of every 15 seconds which makes it so good. The bleed and weakness were pretty much useless in pve before, they are even more so now.

Its worse than that. The players who were interested in fractals before arent anymore and the players who suddenly are will only be interested until they get their achievements. After that fractals will be completely dead save a few dedicated players (It was already like that before the patch but now its even fewer).

Yeah epidemic is really good to have underwater even when going beserker. I should of clarified trident 2 and 5 do a lot of damage with direct damage and the auto attack is pretty weak unless you max direct damage. You should be using spear most of the time anyway. Just use trident to do some aoe with 2 and maybe 5 then sit in DS until you can switch back to spear.

You do realise staying in DS is terrible dps in pve. The DS flashing build is the highest dps build and this trait makes it even better. I can agree the weakness might be a little too short duration. But getting some extra aoe every 7-10 seconds is pretty strong.

What annoys me the most about the fractured patch is that we were promised better rewards and a better system. The rewards are without a doubt worse. The rate at which fractals skins drops is incredibly low now. We get non infused rings or nothing at 49. The relics were reduced, the karma was reduced. The only thing which was improved was gold. But thats still so small that its pointless. We never did fractals for gold due to the time to complete them, we did them for relics and fractal skins or challenging content. And those have all been nerfed.

Leaderboards were never going to work and changing your plan now and admitting this is just stupid. Im also still awaiting acknowledgement on all the major bugs and issues introduced in fractals. The boss cameras not working being the most irritating.

The one thing i am happy about is the new boss fractals and thaumanova. They are pretty fun. However the rest of the bugs and issues completely ruined the patch and the lack of dev response is truly disheartening to see especially when this was supposed to be the one patch we were looking forward to.

Its better now than it was. Its more balanced for condi necros and it works how all DS flash traits should work (no icd). Its very good for power necros because the base damage is still there. It was a valid nerf for condi necro and good buff for power necro. I do not want it changed back or altered any further.

Nonono go beserker for underwater. Trust me you will be satisfied with the damage you do. My trident is currently rabid and the auto attack is pathetic but the 5 on trident still hits 10k+ so im curious how much harder it would hit with a beserker trident. The spear damage is very good with beserker and trident definately gets a lot out of direct damage on the other skills.

Warrior definately feels easier. You have no trouble cleaving locusts in phase 1. Plenty of evades and blocks for all attacks in all phases. High base hp and very good sustain for when you slip up. The biggest challenge for some of the other classes is phase 1. Necro and mesmer have a huge issue dealing with the locusts while also trying to maintain good dps. I also tend to find guardian slightly awkward on phase 1 but thats probably because im not perfect at the locust walk and guard has such a low hp pool.

Once you have the basics on positioning and how to deal with the attacks its just kind of obvious for each class.

The tricky stuff comes when trying to go for a fast time. I was doing some practise attempts on necro last night and the biggest issue I had was that I had to maintain dagger dps on lupi at all times and avoid getting locusts in the way of my auto. At times i had 8 locusts following me around lupi.

Theres not much to advice to give with necro other than practise and use energy sigils. And dark path to get back to lupi after aoe life drain. xD

Max dps is achieved through a gs + sword rotation. And gs is far superior to sword when it comes to clearing trash and positioning mobs. There is no reason not to carry a gs on your second set even if you use RHS.

You should know where you might have to range in a pug so you can just swap to scepter before the fight. Sometimes i run gs + scepter focus because scepter is actually pretty ridiculous for large mobs/bosses.

I completely agree balance is very different for both. But i disagree on gauging effectiveness. Theres a reason why organised groups favour various class compositions and build certain ways. We have to know the classes inside out to maximise efficiency and push ourselves to squeeze seconds out of dungeon clears. This involves building maximum dps which is a hell of a lot squishier than most pvp players build and although its a different gametype its very punishing in some areas of pve. Bosses that bleed or burn melt eles really fast if you dont have a cleanse and many bosses can 1shot or close to with a single attack. So we have to rely on blocks, evades, blinds and so on to survive.

Yes ele has a very low hp pool and thats what makes it difficult for inexperienced players with the class. But ele has loads of really strong defense options to make up for the low hp. Not to mention the ridiculous damage potential they can achieve. If you gave them more defense then it would be completely unbalanced and you would have to nerf ele dps to compensate. I suppose a few things could get slightly reduced cooldowns but only very minor imo. I feel like ele is probably the most well designed and balanced classes in the game and has been for a while.

Its better than having some useless extra crit chance on 1 skill. The extra power is good aswell. I guess another option would be 15/25/0/5/25 but 15 in zeal doesnt get much use out of gs.

The best solution would just be cleave. The reflect on spectral wall is something Id welcome. Also the wells idea seems alright but is probably a bit overpowered.

I would suggest making traits like spiteful spirit and furious demise grant fury and retal to the necro and nearby allies when entering DS. These traits should effect allies and they would instantly make necros more attractive in dungeons. Same thing could be done about blood is power. You bleed yourself to get might, so if you are bleeding yourself surely it should be a bit more powerful and give the might to allies aswell.

Strength of undeath needs to be buffed to 10% aswell.

RHS doesnt effect reflects and non 1h weapon skills. Which is why its better to stack perception and use the traits elsewhere in most situations.

The only two builds for guard I use are 10/25/0/10/25 and 20/25/0/0/25. RHS is overated.

I believe they said back around release most paths should be completable in about 20 minutes. And thats about right for casual groups that dont build full dps and know the encounters perfectly.

And i do use it to cross gaps and jump over doors so i dont believe thats a pathing issue unless its only when using a target. Which again is nothing to do with the skill be bugged.

So you’re admitting you’re PvE player now, that makes sense.
However I’m not talking about the pathing issue, you are probably thinking that I’m totally dumb, right?
I’m talking about the bug (I don’t care what causes it, it’s bad coding whatever the reason is), all the “blink” type skills do this, even on visually flat surface, no gaps, nothing like that.

And I can assure you, in WvW/PvP, you can’t wait until you get to the place where you know that the skill will work, you have to use it when it’s needed, or you’re deadmeat….

Its not exclusive to pvp and wvw. It happens on many places in dungeons where it really shouldnt. And it is a pathing issue. The terrain looks flat but due to the way the textures were put together it acts asif there is a pathing issue. This can only be fixed by editing the terrain. So again i repeat its nothing to do with LF, its a pathing bug.

Anyway is there something wrong with being a pve player?

Its a shame because it was one of the fun fractals on necro and it was going to be the only place i could show off my eventual kraitkin. Now that we never do underwater fractal anymore I probably wont ever get kraitkin unless i end up having more money than sense (unlikely with my spending habits).

See the thing with not putting him against the wall. It makes it very hard for classes with poor sustain. You are always going to get hit by a tick or two when he barrages. If you are on warrior its np because healing signet is op. However on a necro it will almost certainly lead to your death (unless you play absolutely perfectly) because necro heals are on high cooldowns and you usually end up having to lose lifeforce on the aoe lifedrain aswell.

Classes with reflects have an unfair advantage when it comes to surviving the barrage. Which is why it think the wall should always be allowed for certain classes. I feel for warrior its ok to expect them to fight away from the wall when proving skill simply because of the amount of evades, blocks and sustain warriors have. But for classes with less options its just giving yourself a headache for no justifiable reason.

Anyway I learnt to solo lupi before i learnt how to push him properly and I think thats the same for many people. If they are able to position him then they obviously have decent knowledge on the encounter.

Well, this can be caused by several conditions:

A) You don’t play Ele at all and don’t even read forums
B) You don’t use these abilities too much
C) You’re blind

Which one fits you?

None of them. I play ele but i dont read the ele forums that often. Please explain whats so bugged about LF and RTL. Because i havent encountered any bugs yet.

I know you can take fall damage during RTL while going down a slope but that can happen just by running down some awkward slopes. So its not a bug specific to RTL. Thats the only bug I can think of. Please enlighten me.

Just a question. How did you get it stickied in the first place? Did you pm a mod or something?

Im surprised they took it down. Ive seen a few other similar threads have been taken down aswell. Which is worrying because I was hoping to get my guide stickied for those who wish optimize necro for dungeons. We shouldnt have to constantly bump guides which are there to help the community.

Heres the engi build.

If you are going for ascended armour I would craft beserker. Rabid is fine as you slowly switch though. You should be able to swap all your trinkets after enough fractals and dailies for the laurels. Dont worry about it too much seeing as engi gets a fair amount of damage from conditions on nades.
