Well, you are certainly the definition of a GC. I think there is a random change that any attack will have a massive amount of damage. Think about it the same as a precursor dropping from a chest. Its possible… you just need to get lucky that one time.
Unfortunately, while these votes show the feelings of the community, only one vote matters and that is from ANET. In December they tested this culling method and it failed and had to be reverted. Not sure exactly why they rolled it out a second time.
Not really sure the point of the video. Maybe our definitions of permastealth are different. Now cloak and dagger is a whole different story. That is permastealth.
Remove the 5 player AOE target. Problem solved.
These do not really bother me at all. None of them are game changers.
Does this mean we get shut down JQ, split them all off on lower tier servers equally, and then have the matchup we all want in T1 between SoS, SoR, and BG?
Edit: For the good of the game that is… :p
haha. For me, I think it more proves a point that there is NO rating scheme that can ever give us even match-ups on a week to week basis. Personally, I’d like to see more dynamic match-ups (the winner moves up loser moves down model). Sure that will give us some uneven match-ups but we have the same thing today. It would be more fun facing new servers ever week (except for the top 2 server and bottom 2 servers)
Culling is definitely a problem.
If you are complaining about queues, I sure hope you aren’t one of the bandwagon jumpers that went to a top 5 server. Other than reset night, queues aren’t a big problem anywhere else.
@OP. My thoughts on your points.
1. Agree completely. Commander needs to be earned in some way. At the very least, we should be able to vote to remove a commander’s icon for some period of time.
2. Guilds should be addressed. Here is one idea: If you claim a tower/keep/supply and put buffs on it, your guild receives some reward. If you claim a tower/keep/supply just to see your flag fly, your guild loses rewards. My biggest pet peeve is people who claim towers/keeps/supply without the ability to buff it.
3. I personally do not mind the zerg vs zerg battles. I do agree about the AOE limit though. It needs to be removed. I am tired of hearing commanders yell stack.
4. Seems like this is coming in March so no major comments here.
5. The sad part about culling is that they tested a culling change in December. It failed and had to be reverted. For some reason ANET decided to roll it out again. I wonder if they are actually surprised that it failed again.
My sentiment is the same as this fellow here. Tiers don’t really make a good measurement system as there are some cases where there are 4 to upwards of 6 servers that in any combination could be extremely competitive within the same tier. Because only 3 can be fit into one tier, some end up higher than they might belong and some end up lower than they might belong. From there those that ended up somewhere off may or may not end up with competitive matches depending on how the dice rolled with servers raising/dropping from the free transfer period, and other factors.
I disagree. I don’t think it is possible to lump too many servers together. Let’s look at the tier one mentioned above your post.
JQ: Dominating tier 1 at the moment. They belong in their own category
SoR/SoS/BG: This would be a great match-up, but with JQ in the mix, it can never happen. None of these servers are at the level of JQ but all are stronger than Kain
Kain: Stronger than TC or FA
1: JQ
2: SoR, SoS, BG
3: Kain
4: TC, FA
5: DB, Mag, Yaks,
6: CD, EB
I do not know about the servers below that so I won’t rank them. Personally, I’d love to see the tier 2 match-up above. It would be a very good match. Could BG still dominate SoR or have all the recent transfers to SoR made them too strong?
And is grinding really what Anet wants of us? Farming all day and night or is it to achieve a legendary weapon while having fun?
Sigh.. you miss the whole point. You do not NEED a legendary to play the game. You do not NEED it to beat any dungeon. You do not NEED it to do well in WvW.
Sigh.. you miss the whole point. You do not NEED a legendary to play the game. You do not NEED it to beat any dungeon. You do not NEED it to do well in WvW.The legendary is a cool cosmetic item for people who WANT to work towards it. A lot of people actually have fun getting everything needed for it.

It is actually sad if there are people who play that long every day. The game is supposed to be about fun. It should not be the main focus of someone’s life.
As for most of us, it is nice being able to play whenever we have time. I like the 24/7 format.
100% agree with the OP. This should be the system implemented. I know some people are worried about it creating uneven match-ups. The beauty of this system is that if you get blown out by a server, you only have to face them for one week!
Let’s be honest, playing the same server every week is boring. Getting blown out by one server every single week is even more boring. Sadly, that is the case now in 5 of the 8 NA servers. (I’m defining getting blown out by the first place server ahead by at least 30k points after the weekend).
Let’s get more exciting match-ups!
fact is fact
thief is easy clas for wvw
try an clas without an safe escape mechanism and you will understand players reaction
Actually, in WvW, thieves mostly kill out of place noobs. The reality is that most WvW is a zerg fest these days and a thief is not as valuable in that context.
So unfortunately, a lot of thieves do just pick off noobs who then come to the forums to complain.
Backstab thieves make me LOL. That’s so 3 months ago. Basically you only kill people now with that if:
1. They have a stunbreaker on cooldown or try to play without one
2. They are a GC
3. They don’t know how to dodge.
It’s really sad that we STILL have this new culling method. It is way worse than before. What is more sad is that the culling method was tried in December and it failed. For some reason ANET decided to roll it out a second time.
The original culling was bad, but at least it was better than this.
Agree and disagree. WvW is super fun and for me, it is the end game content.
Where I do agree is with the outmanned buffs. I’ve posted this several times, but servers that are outmanned should receive power/prec/vit/toughness buffs. The amount of the buff would depend on how outnumbered they were.
I disagree. Keep NPCs out of WvW. The cannons/mortar/oil are there for PLAYERS to use them. I do not know about your particular server, but where I play, they are definitely used.
ANET listened to everyone about the ratings reset. Will they listen to everyone about the culling or just think everything is ok?
Rename this thread to “Nerf all Skills”
I don’t even use a Mesmer and I have no issues with the confusion. L2P people. Same goes for most other complaints.
Why is it that whenever someone loses a fight, the other class is clearly OP? It is the same across all the professions.
I completely ALL personal story quests with the exception of the final one solo. Saying that a group is required for all other quests is just wrong.
Now I definitely will agree that the FINAL quest is a let down and should be personal in nature.
This has been a great opening night. So many fun battles all over the place. Let’s hope all week is like this.
Go TC!
Instead of speculating, just watch the dev video from a few weeks ago. They’ve already said the goal is to make small groups more viable and to reward people for doing things such as defense.
1. Ele – Mobility, speed, heals.. a strong choice. A probably wouldn’t level one though to be a commander since this class is currently being watched by anet
2. Guard- Good support and survivability. Boring to play though
3. Mesmer – So much fun
Warriors are fine. A good warrior can dominate a sPvP match
I hope anet is also listening to us about the culling system. Any update on a revert?
As for the match-ups, I think most people would agree that we want even match-ups but we do not want to continuously play the same servers. I suggest you implement one of two solutions:
1. The winner moves up, loser moves down model. That way only the top 2 and bottom top 2 servers play the same server for more than 1 week in a row.
2. Keep the same system as today, and add logic that says if 2 servers have played more than 2 weeks in a row, they either move up a tier or down a tier.
Again, the goal is to keep match-ups fresh.
This just proves a point. Legendary items should be account bound. If I have multiple characters, I’d rather focus on getting other legendary items than in created the same legendary more than once.
None of them. I didn’t realise I had bought a Nintendo JUMP PUZZLE 2 game, but apparently this is a platform game with bells on it.
Your just being silly. Jumping Puzzles are a peripheral activity that is only there for those who want to do them. The dev team has devoted probably less than 1% of their time to creating them. As I said above, there WERE a few slip-ups where vistas are too hard for those who hate jumping, but on the whole GW2 is not about jumping at all.
100% agree with Josh on this. Jumping puzzles are a fun OPTIONAL activity. If they don’t interest you, don’t do them. For a lot of us, they add an extra challenge.
As for me, I prefer the puzzles that are more linear in nature. I am not as much of a fan of those that require me to find keys or other things along the way. My favorite 2 jumping puzzles were the holiday one and the skipping stones one.
One suggestion… when you create timed puzzles, add multiple difficulty modes. At the easiest mode, a person would get the most time to complete the puzzle and receive the achievement at the end. At the higher difficulty, there would be better chest rewards but less time to complete the puzzle.
Gotta laugh at all the thiefs here who think that “reacting” or “aoe” is the right way to counter a thief attack. Makes me wonder if they play their own class.
Now, when a thief combo is done the right way, both mug and cloack & dagger land immeditately from stealth. This cannot be avoided without thinking pre-hand, no matter how fast your reflexes are. To beat a thief, you must be one step ahead of them.
As for Aoe, it is generally very weak in any small scale encounter. Why would it magically be more powerful against invisible targets?
Control conditions, confusion and good burst are what truly work against thiefs. The only “nerf” that I suggest is that the stealth attacks should go to a 5 second cooldown when they are negated by a defensive ability such as block. Currently their mechanics are way too hand helding (read noob-friendly).
Sigh, gotta laugh at people who said AOE isn’t relevant because of ONE thief spec.
That said, I agree with a longer cool down on cloak n dagger only. That’s the skill that allows for permastealth. I’d actually go as far as to say it should be increased to 8 seconds. As compensation, I would increase the damage of cloak and dagger by 50%. That way, thieves hit harder, but you see them at least 50% of the time. Given they are the squishiest class, that would make them more fun to fight against.
There is only one change to a downskill that I want. Eles should not be able to run through the portal back to their home base.
So we all know that almost all ppl transfered to JQ before the end of free transfers….
So a server with almost 50% ( i think) of all US population will be out of tier 1 for weeks….
So now all low tiers servers and also the tier 1 will get steam rolled and will probably pay a transfer to JQ (probably i understand this, anet must win money before ESO come out)….
So the queues on that server will become huge (unless they get bored of having all the map)…
My question is: why?
You lose all credibility when you say 50%. Besides, if this is the biggest thing you need to worry about in your life, then good for you.
idk where all get these thief backstab numbers from but i average an 8-9k backstab on lvl 80’s in wvw no matter the class except guardians it like 6k
+ the 4-5k steal/mug
+ the 2k cnd
THEN the 8-9k backstabSo 14-16k pretty much instantly. Commence 2 spam. Profit.
a 3 key combo? Screw that. Just press kill shot and get 12-13k damage.
Seriously warriors are super fun and are one of the top 2 classes in dungeons. Those of you who complain are crazy. Enjoy the class for what it is and don’t compare it to some other game.
(edited by style.6173)
Warrior is my main and it is a great class. Here are two examples:
—Highest burst damage in the game (kill shot and 100 blades are the two highest one key damagers in the game)
—Good mobility between some weapons skills, banners, and warhorn
On the flipside, conditions are a warriors worst enemy. I am fine with that.
I cannot say that I’m not massively disappointed. I know a lot of other people I play with will be as well.
I think WvW is going to be deserted for some weeks now that people know they have nothing imminent to look forward to, on top of multiple upcoming weeks of wildly mismatched servers ‘fighting’ (more like one server flailing about on desperate defense of one objective at a time while the other gets bored playing ‘Player Versus Door’ and falling asleep while zerging down various NPCs with no resistance) each other.
Welp, it was fun while it sort of lasted.
Byebye. The rest of us will continue to have fun in WvW.
@OP
You are suggesting rankings based on the current system. If they do a reset, it will be different. Servers blowing out their opponents will be at the top, close matchups will be in the middle, and servers getting blown out will be at the bottom.
Next week will certainly have some uneven match-ups, but it will be nice to see some new servers for a change.
Can we at least get some set information on who exactly we will be facing next week. Kinda hard to set up the server for the next match when we have no idea where to send people into which borderlands.
This is an impossible request. The matches are based on this week’s match-up. Those match-ups end at 7pm EST this Friday. Until that time, anything could change. Just guess based on that tracker site.
Definitely increase the AOE limit. I want to see the end of stacking. It’s a simple change… if someone is in the red circle, they get hit.
New modes other than capture the point would be perfect.
I definitely do not want PVE rewards in sPvP, with the exception of awarding laurels for the daily.
I’d say overall the classes are pretty well balanced at this point. As for warrior, it needs buffs on all weapon sets other than GS and rifle. Kill shot also need to be toned down.
Thieves are still jaw droppingly overpowered and very very easy to play – a bad combination.
They need stealth to be less of a get out of jail free card. Fewer routes in to stealth, a greater revealed time and damage breaking stealth.
Steal is a utility skill – utility skills should not do 4-5k damage. That needs reducing.
Cloak and dagger is a restealth skill – decide if that is offense or defense and adjust the damage/utility accordingly. 5-6k damage is too much in its current state.
Backstab – far too high on damage when used with the above. This needs reducing.
Heartseeker – mobility, damage and a finisher all in one spammable ability? This needs adjustment – remove the bonus damage at sub 50% and decide if its a gap closer or a damage ability and adjust accordingly – one has to go.
As we have it now we have a large population of thieves many relying on a steal/cnd/BS macro to one button down any target.
ANET wake up and listen – yes warriors have too much damage, and mesmers are a little OTT but 90% of the class complaints on your forums are about 1 class – thieves.
Edit: 90% of class complaints on the forums are from those who aren’t very good at any class.
Thanks for looking forward to the update.
As for the queue issues… If you are on a tier 1 or tier 2 server, queues should be expected. Coverage is the reason your server is in those tiers. If you’d like to organize guild events, go to a mid tier server.
Super talented. You played this amazing well.
Why the switch to SoR?
thank you for posting the most op build available. saw some in wvw and they are unkillable. they only get killed if they are too greedy and you have a zerg in which all people spam aoe. how in the world can this not be op?
LOL. Yeah because if we see anyone in the game who has more talent than we do, that definitely means the spec is OP.
I dislike the idea of winner goes +1, loser -1 position.
Under a system like this the 2nd place team has a very high chance of being stuck in 2nd for a long time. Why? When a server moves down from a higher tier, it is usually stronger than those below it. Which automatically would give it a chance to win the tier and go back up. However the server that came up is usually (the latest pre-paid transfers issue aside) weaker than those above it. So this would make it that the 2nd place team from the week before would be almost guaranteed a 2nd place two weeks in a row just because of the way the system is set up.
This post seriously makes no sense. You are worried about a team being in second place two weeks in a row? Try using the current system where SoR was stuck in second place for what? 11 weeks in a row?
The idea of +1 -1 is to give NEW matchups each week. That’s the exciting part. No one wants to play the same server every week. No matter how even the match-up, it gets boring after 2 weeks.
If a warrior gets you to 0 hp when you are defending the point then you are just bad.
Or you are just really bad at playing the warrior profession. -_-
+1. Warriors are a great class. Practice a little more and maybe one day you will be great at warrior.
Lol @ OP. Guild Wars 2 is dying because of PvP? First, a lot of people have been playing tournaments and hot join over the last week. If anything, PvP has been more popular recently.
Second, saying the entire gaming is dying is just hilarious. Plenty of people spend their time doing dungeons or WvW. Try those sometime. In WvW queues are a big problem becuase TOO MANY people want to WvW.
With the lack of serious balance changes last patch I compiled a list of tweaks and changes to the Thief class that seemed appropriate to me.
Trait and ability changes
-Heartseeker cost increased to 4 Initiative (up from 3)
-Dancing Dagger cost reduced to 3 Initiative (down from 4)
-Mug damage reduced by approximately 50%. Mug now also applies 4 Bleeds for 4 seconds.
-Infiltrator’s Singet now also steals a boon from the target when used.
-Body Shot now also applies 4 seconds of Weakness to the target.
-Flanking Strike range increased to 200 (up from 130) and pathing improved.
-Choking Gas range targeting improved to be more consistent with similar abilities.Fixes
-Fixed an issue that allowed channeled abilities to continue hitting a target in stealth.
-Fixed pathing errors affecting Scorpion Wire and other projectiles.
-Fixed pathing errors effecting Shadowsteps on uneven surfaces.
-Fixed character rendering issues when using Shadowsteps while invisble.
-Thieves now have the highest rendering priority when coming out of Stealth in WvW.
Disagree with all your trait changes but agree with all your bug fixes. To clarify the rendering though, that would only be true for thieves in a 400m range.
The only real changes that are likely to happen is something affecting permastealth builds. In addition, certain weapon sets such kitten p need damage buffs. It is weak right now compared to the other sets.
At this point, I’d rather use one of the ascended backpacks. They are better than any of the exotics that you can buy.
