I second this! Fun night. That skill lag in SM during the 3-way fight was the worst I’ve seen it in a couple months.
Worst lag, but one of the most fun battles ever. There was minimal siege all around and was just a lot of people fighting. A really great time.
So, Arrow carts gets nerfed BIG time, 50% less damage to siege, but no point reset.
I do not understand how it is possible that ANet treats their customers like this. Really, I don’t. 50% damage nerf and no reset. 50% !!!
How can you justify this towards us?
So let me understand… You take advantage of an obviously broken game mechanic, and then you ask ANET to help you.

Instead of giving each non-stealth classes a permanent anti-stealth utility in dealing with stealth class they decided that “consumable anti-stealth” was ‘fair and square’.
Well it aint “fair and square”
“Traps have been added as a new purchasable consumable utility item. Two unique variants are available”.
I call that Punishment for non thief classes because this “new feature” isn’t fair and Balanced at all.
So in other word, the only way to “fight and win a stealth thief class” is to Pay a Price.
“Traps are sold by the vendor for 15 badges and 525 karma; they will stack to 250 and are account-bound”.
This by far isn’t creative design ‘by a long shot’.
This new features states this-
‘Sorry that you’re not a stealth class but if you want to fight and win a stealth class, you must pay a price; 15 badges and 525 karma.. and if you choose not too, you will continue to be Demolished by the invisible one..’
As I stated, I’m not impressed and obviously yet again,
In addition this new "anti-Stealth trap purpose is to Punish and Cripple our mobilities in wvw. In other word, it only leaves us more Vulnerable

Can you imagine the Chaos in wvw… instead of focusing on what needs to be done, we are given a Painful burden and duty to "equip this anti-stealth utility’
This not only adds more work for the Commanders but stresses and distracts their purpose in wvw.

If I was you, I’d be mad too. When you now die to a thief who has no stealth, you won’t have any more excuses. Excuses are better than the truth that some people are just more talented than others.
People will always complain about thieves. That will never go away because it general people do not like fighting against stealth.
The issue is further complicated by the weapon set. The thief is both the most difficult class to play and the easiest depending on your weapon set. Anyone can jump into a game with d/d and do well right away. It’s too easy to play. On the flip side, s/d is maybe the most difficult weapon set to play in the whole game. It takes a lot of skill to become good at it.

So, I took the effort to buy a full sentinel set. I was really curious to how much health I could get. First we wanted to reach 35k+, but when I passed that, I wanted to go for the 38k health mark. And I did it!

You can be a giant health pool.
That can’t survive as long as other classes..guess this is what the warrior class is reduced to..seeing how high we can jump!
Then you need to learn to play warrior. It has great survivability.

I know everyone seems to have a biased for or against thieves, but here is the latest WvW breakdown:
Zerg warfare: This is the current meta. The best classes are warrior, ele, and guard.
1v1: Mesmers and eles
Yak killing/Ganking out of place people: Thieves
Defend the circle until help arrives: Necros and Engi
Gank the top of the JP: Rangers
Every class has its place and does something well. No one except maybe eles are op right now.
I definitely like last refuge. It has saved me more than hurt me.

100% disagree with the OP. It is actually a nice way to make new friends on other servers. You have the ability to decide if you want to join their group or not. If you don’t reject the invite.
I definitely would NOT want direct messaging though.
So, the key problem here is that the thing that people most want is for other people to see their titles. If other people don’t want to see them, at least for gameplay reasons, it’s not really fair to force them to. I agree that it would be better with an option flag but we just didn’t have the time to implement that at the moment. It’s very likely we’ll get one in when we have the time, but for now we felt it was most appropriate to remove them.

This makes me LOL. Thieves are good for 2 things in WvW: Picking off out of place noobs and killing yaks.
The current WvW meta is zerg warfare. Warriors, eles, and guards are the classes to be at the moment.
Neither skill should allow the player to run through a portal, but other than that, the skills are fine.
lol. You saw a team do well and so all of the classes are OP. Maybe they were just a good team.

So how’s it going with that new enemy, Thief? Working out all right with his boon stealing? I’m actually curious as to how you guys are dealing with them nowadays.
They aren’t really a big deal. It’s just one skill on one weapon set.

Dirt covered (Diessa) works in Sea of Sorrows. No idea if anywhere works for snow covered.
People WvW to fight players, not NPCs, or dumb traps.

Not everyone wants WvW to be about zerg vs zerg open field fighting.
You may not have known this but in WvW, there are fights other than zerg. Welcome to the game mode though.

@Devin, removing the jumping puzzle from EB? Finally! I do offer criticism when I disagree with a decision and think it is only fair to offer praise when I completely agree with a change that was made. Nice work.
Another horrible idea by ANET. Sure, anti stealth sounds great, but this is just the start of new traps. All this does is make WvW more and more gimmicky. People WvW to fight players, not NPCs, or dumb traps.
Sorry, Ive been at work today. I have 30 honor, 30 valor, 5 radiance, and 5 virtues. Ofc all the traits are exchangeable, but right now I have an AH build.
Lonewolf, do you use Judges Intervention, Smite Condition, and Save Yourself? Or what build do you run?
Your build is more suited to zerg warfare than to a solo roamer build. You will be tough to kill, but you will have a hard time killing anyone either.
You definitely do not want AH for a solo build. The benefit from AH is from applying boons to others.
It depends on what you mean by hardcore. You can find those on any server. Here is the big difference:
1. If you like large scale zerg action, go to a top tier
2. If you like smaller scale roamer groups, go to a lower tier
It just depends which way you enjoy to play.
@OP, instead of whining, just deal with it. This is a game and people can play it as they chose. If a group wants to have a fight club, so be it.
Of course it is a game for you too, so if you want to attack them, do it. Just don’t come on the forums and cry when you get wrecked.
If you want to dungeon, pick a different class. Rangers and thieves are probably the two weakest classes in a dungeon.
Sword really isn’t that great. Sure, a great player will be dangerous with it (as with any weapon set), but it still isn’t as strong as d/d or d/p.
Or maybe zergs don’t need fixing. Some of us actually like fighting large scale battles. If you want small scale, try PvP.
Is the OP serious or joking? I really can’t tell. Guards are more popular in some parts of the game than in others.
100% DISAGREE with the OP. People come to WvW to play. They do not come to stand around and watch a few others fire a siege. They do not come to stand around and wait for a god mode buff to wear of an NPC.
There needs to be more action in the game.
Retaliation and confusion make me lol. They are easy to avoid and now with the nerf, they don’t pose any issue.
This has been an incredibly disappointing week. We have a new match-up and yet participation seems to be down.

Anyone who says thief is definitely new at WvW. Thieves are only good for ganking out of place noobs.
The reality is that the current meta in WvW is zerg warfare. That means the best classes are those that are good in zerg warfare. Those include: warriors, necros, guards, and eles.
I agree with the OP. Unfortunately this update turned WvW into a slow moving, stand around and look at each other, game mode.
I am disappointed because WvW was the most fun part of the game, and now it is not.
I’m ok with the damage reduction if they do one of the following:
1. Decrease the overall animation time
2. Increase the stun duration
As it stands right now, PW is pointless. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone using that.
I LOL when a thief tries to kill me in PvP. I almost feel bad for them at this point.
One arrow cart in sunnyhill destroyed our three catapults that were built at max range… Seems like this is the direction Arena.Net wants to go with WvW.
That won’t convince us to spend gems in spvp, im just gonna switch to another game.
EDIT: We built an arrow cart on the side of the wall to destroy it.
We also capped bay by slowly building arrow carts, one by one, step by step, to destroy their 15 arrow carts they had built.

Agreed. I think they should just strap an arrow cart on everyone’s head. This way while we are waiting for unkillable NPCs to lose their buffs, we can just randomly shoot the arrow carts for fun.

I think this WvW patch was secretly a way to get people to play PvP again. They knew that PvP isn’t any fun and so the only want to drive people there is by messing up WvW. Well played ANET.

Today was the first day that I played WvW and thought, “wow, this is boring”. This new patch is horrible.
People come to WvW to fight each other. Instead, what do we get?
1. Unkillable NPCs – Gameplay scenario- Run to camp, see there is a buff, and then just stand there for a few minutes. Boring. No NPC guarding an objective should be unkillable ever
2. Overpowered arrow carts. What? I want to fight people, not some arrow cart that I cannot see. This just means that a small group cannot take an objective and so everyone need to zerg even more than before. Boring.
I mean come on ANET. What have we really gotten in WvW anytime recently? No culling, definitely a good thing. Beyond that I can’t name anything. Ascended gear? Nope. WvW skills that are of any value? Nope (I haven’t spent any). More fights between players? Nope.
I know ANET is trying to make changes but they are mostly the wrong moves. They would do well to just listen to the OP from this post.
Calm down everyone. Last week was take our daughter’s and sons to work day. I’m sure one of them accidentally made the AC change. This is clearly broken.
Laurels as a way to buy WvW gear? No! No! No!. Horrible idea. It needs to be WvW only
The issue right now is there is a huge discrepancy between how long it takes to get gear:
Laurels: Depends on the item, but let’s say 20 days including the monthly
Fractals(Rings only): 10 days by doing level 10 or RNG beforehand
Guild Missions: (Accessories only) Once all missions are unlocked this will take 2 weeks for a total of maybe 6-8 hours.
This is a fantastic list. I hope ANET listens.
In general though, I really want a reduction of PvE content in WvW. I go there to fight other people. I do not go there to fight siege equipment, grubs, and NPC characters.

Nooo, what should happen is that all siege is buffed by 200% and everyone gets an arrow cart strapped to their head. This way we can continue converting WvW into PvE content.

If you want roaming, don’t go to a top tier server. You won’t really find a lot of challenges that way and will mostly run into out of place people.
In general, I like the updates. This is the lone issue: Righteous Indignation now ignores damage from all sources.
That just means people need to stand around and wait now. Boring.
Also, the AC change is nice for those who like to defend. On the flipside, it just encourages more zerging now to attack a tower.
I play in Sanctum or Rall, and a lot of the commanders I see are x/warhorn warriors, but majority of the players I see are mesmers, eles and thieves(specific to roaming groups), good amount of guardians and warriors, then a few necro, rangers and engis. There’s once I roamed with a pretty amazing engineer, but I see them very rarely. If I was going to consider the top prof I see in terms of numbers, I’d say mesmers, and that includes what I see from Jade Quarry(has very strong necros, and in good numbers as well) and Black Gate servers.
I’d say this is true. When I say warriors are FOTM, I mean in zergs. Warriors do not roam as much.
