Imo, thieves are in a decent spot right now. D/D needs some QoL changes (so it can somehow compete with D/P’s utility), D/P permastealth needs to go and S/P could use some buffs. Other than that, it feels mostly alright. (I play a thief, so don’t even try to pull any arguments regarding that…). Just my humble opinion, though.
Mostly agree with this. My changes would be the following:
1. D/D Fine as is
2. D/P Heartseeker stealth shouldn’t stack
3. P/D Could use about a 10% damage increase on bleed conditions
4. S/D Fine as is
5. S/P Could use a buff on pistol whip, or a reduction in cast time
6. P/P Needs a lot of help.
7. Shortbow Fine as is
DB’s newest commander, aka the traitor, aka joffrey lannister, is fairly hated by FA at the moment. One of our other commanders filled the gap, king joffrey left, and took control with simplistic clarity, troll SMC, and kill DBs newest addition.
I don’t mind server transfers, but going to another server in the same tier is lame.

There are a couple of reasons:
1. First people who not know how to fight stealth
2. In hotjoin, D/D and D/P is ridiculously easy to play. It doesn’t take much skill to be good (of course those who are great do have skill). Those some people in who then complain about the thief doesn’t see how poor they are then in tPvP.
It depends what you mean by worst class.
Dungeons? Yes, the worst class
tPvP? Below average
sPvP? Really good (You can dominate as d/d or d/p without really knowing how to play)
WvW? Good for yak killings and roaming
PvE? S/P is nice and you can facetank some of the bosses with the blinding powder.

Some of us actually like to zerg. There is nothing better than seeing 20 v 20 on a battlefield. If that is not enjoyable to you, that’s fine. Try PvP or solo a zerg with an arrow cart.

Effective May 28th, WvW will be renamed ACvAC. You will only receive full wxp if you use an AC to kill things. Other siege will get you half the expected wxp. If you kill someone using your own skills, you will lose wxp.

Solo queue is a big deal for people who tournament. The problem is that PvP players are a small number compared to other modes such as WvW. If we want PvP to become success, more people need to play.
So, why don’t they? The answer is two fold:
1. Conquest becomes repetitive and boring. People want to duel, and people want team deathmatch. Increase the number of game modes.
2. People spend a lot of time gearing up in PvE, but then can’t use those in PvP. Sure, you don’t want an imbalance, but at least let people use the skins.
1. New game modes. Team deathmatch would be ideal
2. Leaderboards that actually mean something. Individual rankings for a team based gameplay mode? What? This just shows who has the best team.
Go d/d ele. It’s the only class that can do everything with the same spec.

The issue is that there needs to be more counters to siege. While it might be fun for some people to just stand around and wait for a treb to knock down a wall, for most people this is boring. They want to be doing something.
Personally, I think the power the sieg equiment is fine. Players just need ways to counter siege beyond just building more siege. ANET went the wrong way by removing the ability to block treb shots recently. Those who want to defend should have the ability to stand in their tower and block treb shots all day if they want to.
Players should also be able to block AC fire. Guards (shield of the avenger), thieves (smoke screen), etc should be able to block this.
Basically what I am saying is that siege is fine. There just needs to be ways to counter siege without just building new siege. That’s boring.

Well, you are right there are two types of posts here. They fall into 2 categories:
1. Nerf the thief. The message usually starts with “I am a thief and blah blah blah” Basically it is just someone who got pwned by a thief and wants to make themselves feel better. Real thieves than attack this poster because it is obviously BS.
2. Help me: Typically these types of posts are well received and people offer help.

I think the kittenumptions that everyone is making are:
1) The current ratings of servers are valid. They are not because we are not getting enough varied match-ups to even generate valid data. Trying to judge the quality of a server based on their current rating is much like judging the quality of people’s Reddit posts by the average # of up-votes they get.
2) How big a spread will make a game a blowout? Is 400 rating points even a significant difference? Really its just a number with very little meaning right now. Once this system starts working (based on the math of the system the idea is that a rating +/- deviation is in fact an accurate measurement of the range of what their rating might be in a perfect world so this is technically the way this whole thing was supposed to work from the get go.I don’t want to do all of the probability math right now, but with absurdly high certainty there will only be a small amount of randomization each week as in order for a situation like Kaineng moving up to T1 to occur, every server from Blackgate to Maguuma would have to roll a lower range number than Kaineng, and some of them would literally have to roll almost -100% while Kaineng rolls almost +100%. As the blog post stated, at the end of the day we are really just going to see a bit of nice slight subtle movement so that match-ups are less stale, and eventually ratings are more accurate.

I think this is a great new idea and am looking forward to the matchups. One challenge has been that a lot of bandwagon type guilds have flocked to the top 2 tiers. Ultimately, it would be nice to see more balance across all of the tiers. So, one idea:
Give wxp a multiplier based on your tier. The lower your tier, the more wxp you get.
That should help with some transfers, especially now with the rank chests and the chance to get precursors.
Half the reason very few people take any posts in the Thief forum seriously is because they are a) completely baseless opinions, and b) the extreme difficulty people seem to have forming thoughts into complete sentences with grammar and punctuation.

The more I think about this, the more I like it. Those who need to plan out their reset nights will hate it of course, but it is also exciting. Until the reset happens, you have no idea who you are playing and you have no idea what color you will be. Should be really fun.
Anything to get some new match-ups is a great move. Nicely done ANET. It gets boring playing the same servers every week.

Agreed. Look at the fights last night on FABL. Did we really need to fight in the open field outside of south bay? No. Why did we? Because it was super fun.

Guard is the most balanced class in the game. I disagree with the op.
I’m going to start this off by saying that you’re obviously a good player, and the below isn’t a personal attack.
That being said, what’s so impressive about this? As far as I can tell, this is what happens when you take a giant open space and fight in the middle of it rather than being forced to fight around objectives. Teleporting around a giant map where your escape vector is “any direction away from my opponent” rather than limited by map design and overall small size seems like common sense. The fact that you don’t have some point where you “have to be” (IE, a capture point) means your free to engage and disengage at will. The people chasing you (rather than splitting up between where you are and where your return circle is) are just wasting their time. There’s no penalty associated with spending 20s out of every minute running away so as to let your skills Cool down.
What it boils down to is you’re baiting people. They’re more interested in “not letting you get away” then playing intelligently. Like I said earlier, you’re clearly good at it, but it seems like anything a competent PvP S/D thief could pick up in an hour.
PvP play style =/ WvW play style. You can’t compare the two.

Best NA is anyone’s game. It all depends on who has a better lead in from euro prime time. In terms of best guild, well I think it’s been we’ll established that BT from FA is the strongest/scariest in the tier, though each server has their strong guilds.
Agg is rather scary too. I’d like to know who comes out on top of an Agg vs BT fight.
That said, I’ve been in CERN and PiNK zergs that have wiped BT zergs, and been in a CERN/EP zerg that wiped Agg a couple times. KH is also a bloody powerhouse I’d never want to go up against.
I think we have some very powerful guilds, but it’s rare that I get the opportunity to see them face off against the big contenders from other servers.
In any case, BT and Agg are both very skillful, no doubt about that.

To keep it short…nobody paid for TVB transfers but TVB members. We chose FA, we did not coordinate with FA, and were not bought by FA. We picked FA because there are friends and family on the server and we wanted a stable server, not another bandwagon server that will implode in two months.

People just get upset because d/p is the strongest thief weaponset currently. The instant stealth allows anyone to play it, and someone with any skill can be dominant.
Dagger mainhand weaponsets are just easier to play than s/d, s/p, p/d or p/p.

As to the original question, I like Roter’s message. You will just need to decide between 0/30/25/15/0 or 0/25/30/15/0 depending on whether you prioritize damage or surviverability more. (I prefer damage in PvP and surviverability for WvW)
The problem with your idea is that you make the thief completely useless in a zerg (where they are already the least useful class). All this would do is cause thieves to roam around picking off noobs and causing even more thief hate.
Guards do NOT need a passive speed buff. I already get between 10 and 11.5 seconds swiftness out of every 12. That’s fine.

D/D is a more skill-based build for PvP. If you are performing well with D/D, you will dominate with D/P.

Wow, you guys don’t have anything better to talk about than server transfers? Who cares? Every server gets band-wagoned at some point, including all 3 in tier 2.
As for TC, the reason we came back at the end of last week and started strong this week is the return of our top 2 commanders.
The challenge is that dungeons and WvW are very different. (Even in WvW, zerging vs roaming is different). Trying to create one spec for both will be tough. For me, I do this:
Dungeon:
Knights gear + knights trinkets (the ascended ones with precision as the largest stat)
Signet of Resolve
GS + Scepter/Focus
WvW (Zerging):
Clerics gear + knights trinkets (the ascended ones with precision as the largest stat)
Shelter
Staff + Hammer or Scepter/Shield (the second weapon depends on the commander)
Anything that can be done to increase the variety in match-ups would be a good thing. The tiers have become too stagnant. In tier 2, who says DB or TC couldn’t compete with the tier 1 servers? The same story is true across maybe tiers.
Am I being called a TC spy or because I generally try to be nice, I have become suspicious? Or am I being trolled by a server mate?
Can’t make everyone happy I guess. Personally, it is no surprise to me that you are in CO. I remember awhile back there were bug abusers in the guild and the leadership there immediately dealt with it. Very classy and great competitors.
