I’ve enjoyed this battle. The fights have been pretty even within NA primetime. Last night was a lot of fun. We had the SoR zerg and the TC zerg (Nice to meet you RE!) outside of SM fighting. Was it really strategically important? No. Was it a lot of fun? Definitely.
SoR, enjoy the rest of your tier 2 vacation. You guys definitely deserve the #1 server title. Here’s hoping for more open field, meaningless, yet super fun, battles the remainder of this week.

This match-up has been really fun. While the score isn’t even overall, the battles are pretty even in NA primetime. Since that is when I play, that is all that really matters to me.

At this point the thief class is maybe average at best. Unfortunately, it has turned into a class that is basically only good at killing those with no skills. That is sad. Hopefully anet will buff the thief soon.
Stealth won’t get nerfed. The thief is already an average class at best.
@OP. I think you are asking your question in the wrong forum. WvW needs its own set of rankings for matchup purposes.
If you want a server rank for PvP, it’s better to post that suggestion there.

While I agree the old system had a lot of ratings that were not accurate, this current system needs some tweaks. Right now it is just creating too many imbalances. I think you reeeeally need to consider having 2 or 3 resets per week while the ratings work themselves out.
Since most of the skillful players are in Heart of the Mists, imagine all the hardcore tpvp players decided to form a WvWvW guild, since they are the REAL pvp players, I wonder how awesome the guild would be in WvWvW
They would get pwned if they tried to play tPvP and WvW the same. They would likely do well if they just took a group of 5 people and roamed with it.
We really need an arrow cart fix. I know this game mode is named ACvAC and all, but come on. It is ridiculous. Here are the changes that need to be made
1. AC needs to have line of sight.
Next pick one of the two:
1. Nerf AC damage by 50% to players and siege.
2. Leave damage the same, but put a proximity limit on AC building. No AC can be built within a distance of 1200 from another AC.
If there are emotes, I do not see them. I have a separate tab for WvW that basically includes say, team, map, and whisper. Anything else can go into a different tab.
I still never understand the complaints around this. I down people, and then I stomp them. What is the issue?
The only thing that needs to be changed is Eles in mist form. They should not be able to suicide outside of gates, and then be able to mist form back inside.
Well, we are all getting what we wanted here. For a long time, players pleaded with ANET to put more of a focus on WvW. We wanted new maps. Instead of more maps, ANET decided to turn this into a more PvE like experience. Sad.
I still think everyone should have a piece of siege automatically strapped to their head when they enter ACvAC. That’s the direction that we are going.

Anyway I found this part funny. Even the devs poke a bit of fun at thieves.
Everyone has likely seen a commander laying out battle plans and then subsequently seen that one thief mucking up those plans.
I found it funny too. If a commander is losing to one thief, then the commander is really bad.
I like 3 as is. It definitely has its uses.
Skill 2 is bad. The problem is that it is more aligned to a P/P set-up. So my suggestions:
—For skill 2- Remove vulnerability and instead apply poison for 3 seconds. This gives P/D players 2 conditions to work with and allows for some new build options (poison duration for example)
For P/P players, move vulnerability to Unload. Each unload cast should apply 2 stacks of vulnerability. In other words if they cast unload 3 times in a row, they would apply 6 stacks.
@OP. Simple. If you like GW1 so much, go play that. This is a new game.
Thief needs to be a less consequence-free class. There’s no good reason why a pathetically useless player like myself should be able to do so well just because I rolled a thief.
In terms of WvW.. this right here is exactly what it comes down to. No risk, all reward!
Jumper, you are a highly skilled Thief in PvP and I totally respect being able to pull off what you do, but in WvW, thief is a no skill required class, if WvW players had to work half as hard as you do in PvP they would probably reroll to a different class!
Do you even WvW? In WvW, the gameplay is all about zergs. A thief is NOT very good at that. So, what you will see are thieves roaming and looking for people who are out of place (away from their zerg) and have no clue what to do in WvW. In other words, the thief is really killing the less talented players in WvW. Those who know how to play, aren’t really worried about a thief.
Retal isn’t a big deal. This is the same as all of the people who complained about mesmers and confusion. People complain so much
Retal is fine as is. In fact, if a group of people cast retal, it should kill AC operators pretty quickly.
There needs to be player strategy.
Stop with the zerg hate! A lot of us actually play WvW to fight in large scale combat. It is simple:
If you want to fight NPCs, do dungeons or PvE
If you want small scale PvP, do sPvP or tPvP
If you want large scale fights, do WvW.
There is something for everyone already.

No idea what the OP is trying to say. Does he mean that P/P was the strongest weaponset at some point pre mug? Yeah right.
Remember that pistol mainhand (skills 1 and 2) is also used for P/D, so you need to think about how any changes impact that as well. Here are the changes that I would make:
Skill 1
—Increase the rate of auto attack
—Increase the damage from bleeds by 10%
—Increase the power scaling to .5
Skill 2
—Increase the damage amount.
—Increase vulnerability time from 6 to 8 seconds

Roaming: Horrible, almost every class does it better.
Zerging: Average, every class is good at Zerging. Warriors are a missile, however they don’t bring nearly the crowd control a necromancer/elementalist can in Zergs. Unfortunately Hammer warriors lead the fight, however they die very quickly and are very squishy.
What tier do you play on? Warriors are the MOST desirable zerg classes in tier 1 and 2 at least. I can’t speak to tactics on anything lower than that.
Warriors are NOT squishy when it comes to zerg fights. They have some of the best survivability and when it comes to 20v20 fights, most top commanders want more warriors than any other class.
If a warrior is dying a lot or is squishy, they are using the wrong spec or it’s a L2P issue.

Last refuge works great. It helps me more than kills me. You just need to learn to watch your health and understand when it will activate.

WvW (Roaming) – Average
WvW (Zerging) – The current OP class
sPvP – Average
PvE/Dungeons – Really strong

There is one way to help stabilize server population. Give wxp based on your current server rank. To give an example:
Currently SoR is the top ranked server
ET is the lowest ranked server
Ehmry Bay is the mid ranked server
Ehmry Bay would receive the same amount of wxp as today
ET gets twice the amount of wxp
SoR gets 50% the amount of wxp
In other words, there needs to be more incentives for people to move to lower ranked servers.
I’ve proposed this before but here goes again. Have both 2 server match ups and 3 server matchups such as the following:
Week 1:
1v2
3v4v5
6v7
8v9v10
and so on
Week 2:
1v2v3
4v5
6v7v8
9v10
That gets you dymanic matchups week to week without the random variable thrown in
Summarized a different way:
DB dominated tier 2 when they first came, then disappeared
TC was MIA the first 2 weeks of the match up and then came on strong
FA was consistent week to week
Basically FA was always in the middle and for some reason TC and DB switched places.

I only request one thing and that is for TC and FA to show some small respect. I have noticed today so far there are a few guilds on TC one with tag INCV I believe that will /laugh when they kill players. This will be like a 40 man zerg versus 15-20 people on SoS. Granted were not as strong as we used to be because of players migrating to other servers. When I kill players and it was a good fight they deserve respect. Please /bow
All servers have their less desireable players. Your server does as well as you can see by the post a few above yours. I think for 99% of the time both FA and TC are respectable.
As for TC and INCV, I’ve been on TC since launch and I’ve never heard of them. So, they are either new, or some really small group.

What kind of motivation should I have for telling my guild to get into WvW this week?
due to the tier 2 servers we’re facing, any effort put out by us will raise our rating and give us more of a chance to potentially fight in tier 1 where we’d get our spit stuffed in even more? A constant losing cycle doesn’t seem like what we should be striving for.
If you really want to change the dynamics of WvW, dissolve the EU servers and shuffle them into NA, as WvW is a 24-hour game anyways. Don’t just put little league teams in the professionals.
I remember SoS as always fighting to the death. I hope the remaining guilds still feel that way. This is an opportunity to show your server is back and then it is better than tier 4.
I’m definitely going to miss this match-up. As a member of TC, my thoughts:
DB: You guys have some of the best quality guilds that I’ve seen. I’m not even going to try to list them all, but much respect.
FA: We’ve probably fought each other more than we have any other server. I look at it as two brothers. Definitely fought a lot growing up, but much more respect for each other as we’ve matured.

Not knowing ahead of time if fine for 90% of the population. The other 10% will be upset but not really a big deal. A well coordinated server can still plan what they want to do.

Thief is balanced, but some weaponsets are way stronger than others. D/P is nub mode in sPvP.

Yep. Whenever someone says “coming from a thief” and then proposes a nerf, it is BS.
Stealth is NOT equal to burst damage. Burst is really related to dagger mainhand. Those daggers are where thief hate come from.
These are the changes that should be made:
1. Make heartseeker similar to flanking strike. The first strike does damage, and the second steals boons. That means heartseeker can no longer be spammed in the way that it is today
2. Ensure the damage for the first strike of heartseeker is equal to the damage today. The second would be 50% of the first. The total initiative for both strikes should be equal to today. (In other words, you get MORE damage from each heartseeker, but it cannot be spammed)
3. Remove the leap finisher combo on heartseeker. The point of D/P should be about blinds more than stealth
4. Change skill 3 on d/p to blind for 1 second vs the current one attack.
I’d recommend anyone in the top 3 tiers with the exception of SoR and DB. The reason? SoR is stacked already so there isnt much difference you could make there. DB? They are the current month’s Kain. Too many have bandwagoned there and a few more losses and guilds will start to jump ship.
Remove siege… oh wait, they tried that and it was too much fun so they added it back in.

Today was some of the most fun that I’ve had in WvW. With the lack of siege, people actually… wait for it… fought! It was a good time.
Yeah we definitely need some siege in the game to make it more strategic, but nowhere near where it was. Players fighting = more fun

This is great news. People can at least see how WvW plays with no siege. At least then we know if it is more or less fun.
I think the cost is mostly in-line although the laurel cost should have been 5 less per item.
Also, what is the logic of not allowing badges for ascended items? It’s sooooo much faster to just buy them with guild commendations right now.
